Forgot to say Mel, can you see my tree? It says it's open to you so you should be able to see it okay, if not let me know and I'll contact Genes to see what the problem is.

OH said to say thank you to you for your help with his family. It seems to be taking his mind of his brother which is a good thing. We only had his granddad so didn't know how many sibling's he had until I started looking and like I said there are quite a few, so he's looking forward to seeing what else I can find out for him.
It's nice to see a smile on his face after such a long time <3

Frank Report 25 Sep 2017 12:02

Still horrible here, and raining again.

Jan is here, with a terrible COLD. she can hardly breath , she can't take anything for it as she got a nose bleed last night because of the congestion. She has to go to see her accountant in Leicester at 2.00 pm, She will stay at her daughters again tonight and go home tomorrow.

Good luck with your tree Gill, it is nice when you find new decedents you never knew existed. As I said I must start on mine again, sometime soon. How your OHs brother doing ??

I have just made Jan a Ham sandwich to take with her, she will eat it on her way to Leicester. The accountant's house is a bit of a tip, so she won't eat or drink there. She try's not to have to use his toilet either. He is a single guy and doesn't take a lot of care of himself or the house.

Tony next door started to cut his lawn yesterday, and has left his mower out in all this rain. The grass hardly looks touched.

Have you been pestered by these big BLACK SPIDERS. We have had SEVEN over the weekend.Bedroom, bathroom, lounge and kitchen. You could put a saddle on them and ride them round the bungalow. ;-) ;-) ;-)

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 25 Sep 2017 14:23

I can just imagine you riding a spider round the kitchen Frank!!! :-D :-D :-D

Gill I can see your tree but there are so many hidden names it dos'nt help. Could you take of the hidden thing for a day or two so I can see who they are and check it out.

Gillx Report 25 Sep 2017 14:49

Sorry Mel I forgot I'd hidden the living relatives, I'll put them back so you can see them. I've been getting on okay today finding a few more dates for the people I already have and I think I've found one more person who was born and died in between the census returns.

That's the problem with the census being done every 10 years, there's a chance you could miss people who were born in between them and then they never end up on the tree if they'd passed away before the next census was taken, so I was lucky I found this one. I'm sure they'll be more though as there seems to be big gaps in the birth dates for each child which wasn't the norm back then.

So you've been playing with the spiders today Frank, we had a big black one in the back room the other night, Sandra came to me to get rid of it as I normally get rid of the spiders for her, but this one was so big that OH did it instead.
Fancy Tony leaving his lawn mower out in the rain, I assume he didn't finish his lawns either. OH's brother is doing okay, he's still having Chemo and should be seeing the specialist again soon.

Going to get a cuppa now and give my eyes a rest from the computer screen before I take another look at my tree.

I've just taken off the hidden relatives Mel, so you should be able to see everyone now :-)

Afternoon All,

Back home and the washer has done 3 loads and now our week away seems ages ago!! The journey home was better, but still more traffic than earlier in the year, so I think we will be glad to go back to May or even late April for our trip next year. We bought sandwiches from Sainsbury's for the trip back this time rather than pay the motorway services rip off prices. :-S We briefly saw the owners both just to wave to earlier in the week, but Sam came on Saturday and had a chat with OH as he was loading the car. They are looking to perhaps add a few more lodges, but tucked around the other side of the farmhouse out of view of the rest as he says he wants to keep privacy and the lovely view for everyone. He is thinking that as they have mostly couples, rather than families stay, they will do some 1 bedroom ones to also attract honeymoon couples. He asked OH where we had been visiting and OH told him we had been to Botallack tin mine as I had done a painting of it. He now wants a print of my painting as he has been looking to get some from local artists without much luck. He says he will have it put up in the lodge we stay in ready for next year!!! :-D lol! He hasn't even seen the painting yet so I hope he will like it.

I have never had artichokes either. As Mandy says, with just the base of the leaf you can eat, I always thought it seemed a bit of a faff. Don't they cause flatulence too........we don't want more of that!! It's good to try these different things though. It was a pity you got the wrong sort Jane. Maybe Chris could grow some next year if you like them next time. Did Fitz get to the doctors about his back and leg problems? The cottage sounds well off the beaten track, but I see he will be having visitors. How long will he stay for?

I see Mel's 'care home' for the pricklies is open for business again. I like the name 'Titch' but he won't be a titch for long once Mel has fed him up. Is the dog still around Mel? It sounds quite distinctive as you describe it so you'd think someone knows where it is from.

Gill, what a lot of pots you have! Good that you have everything in place now and the fence secure for winter.

Frank, you and Gill are waaaay ahead of me with your xmas shopping and Gill even has some wrapped I see! I think the elbow is one of the worst bits to knock so I hope it soon feels a bit better. That's a good idea to see if any of the local pools do any physio type sessions.

Better get on now. The beans and toms need picking!

Afternoon Everyone

Welcome home Ann. I am glad you both had a lovely week . If Sam likes your painting Ann,he might want prints for ALL the lodges :-D :-D,and he will be able to tell all the guests that it was painted by one of his customers :-D :-D

Did you see the news today about that poor man who fell down the mine shaft in Cornwall and he landed on a ledge which broke his fall but also broke his pelvis. It took the emergengy services 6 hours to get him out. What a job that must have been :-0 :-0

How has the appointment gone today Frank? I hope that you will soon get this hole behind your eye fixed soon. It sounds horrible.
Poor Jan sounds like she has a really awful cold and to get a nose bleed too .She must feel really rotten. I hope she managed to eat the sandwhich you made for her.

Well what a murky day today. It is so dark and there doesn't seem to be a breath of wind. I have felt hot all day and have had the big windows open to try and get some air in the house. But it really hasn't made any difference. If Chris shuts the bedroom windows tonight I shall brain him !!He did that last night (without me knowing) and it was so hot in bed the duvet was chucked off most of the night.

That new programme last night (about the missing child) can't think what it was called was absolutely brilliant.I had to watch it properly this morning again as I did my usual thing and nodded off last night :-S

Frank we have had so many of these really horrible BIG BLACK SPIDERS. They suddenly scuttle across the room and disappear before we can get to them :-S :-S :-S
Now it is the Daddy Long Legs that are being a nuisance :-|.. But I don't mind them. Thomas finds them interesting :-D..He is really strange at the moment .As well as sleeping on out bed in the night he has taken to sleeping on a pair of Chris's gardening trousers that are on the floor under the window in the bedroom.

That meal I did last night even though minus those blasted Atrichokes was a huge success.James said it was one of the tastiest meals I have done. So I have decided to do it all again on Saturday night when Hannah and Gareth are here
:-D :-D.

Evening all,

Another lovely sunny day here ,we had to go to Fakenham this afternoon as Colin needed some more fence paint ,there wasn't anywhere in the town that had any ,of course we had to call in to the Chocolate factory shop :-D i got the little ones some Jelly babies it was a huge bag for a pound ,a big bag of Minstrels for a pound and twelve caramel bars for sixty pence , also got some choccies for me :-D the prices are so good .

Frank don't talk to me about spiders ,we have had so many in this year ,great big black things with long hairy legs yuk !!
Max got one the other day ,it was hanging out of his mouth :-0 i can tell you i didn't hurry to get that out of his mouth .
Hope you got on ok at the hospital today and didn't have to hang about waiting to long for your three appointments .

Nice to see you home ok Ann, how lovely to have one of your paintings or the print of it in one of the lodges ,you should send several of your paintings as i'm sure he'd want them in the new lodges ,you might get a free stay out of it .

I read about the poor man falling down the down the mine shaft ,how scary that must have been ,50ft !!! what a long way down .
Jane what was the recipe ? minus the Atrichokes

The Child In Time was the program you watched Jane. I watched that lst night and it had me in tears.

I wonder how Frank got on today?

Mandy its no good telling us what goodies you got at the choccie shop if you're not going to share them with us. Did they have any walnut whips there today?

Ann what a nice thing to have your picture of the mine up in the lodge. Perhaps he will want more of your pictures of the local places. You better get your brushes out.

Little Titch has put on an ounce already. I cleaned him out late afternoon as it had made itself a nice nest and was asleep. I weighed it and took a couple of pics of it so I can show them to the boys next door. I put some leaves in and tore its paper up so it could get underneath it as thats what it had done before. Put in some fresh food and water and replenished the dry food I put in this morning as it had been out and eaten some of that. Went down a while later and it had eaten some of the food and gone back to bed. I have given it dry food and tinned food tonight so will see whats left in the morning.

Thanks to Gill for taking the hiddens off as it is much easier now.

Gillx Report 25 Sep 2017 22:54

Lovely to see you back Ann. How wonderful to have one of your paintings in the lodge for the next time you visit. Good idea of Mel's to do some other local places that they might consider for the other lodges.

The chocolate sounds good value for money Mandy, I do envy you, everything is very expensive here.

So little Titch is getting bigger already Mel. I'd love to see a photo of him.
Pleased you can see my tree okay now, I'd completely forgotten I'd hidden the living relatives. Thanks for all your help today, there are a lot of James's so I'm going to have to work out where they all fit in.
OH is as pleased as punch with it all <3

Hope all went well for Frank today and he didn't have to wait around to long for his appointments.

It's been quite warm here today too Jane even though it's been raining and cloudy. Maybe it's the clouds keeping the heat in. I have a fan at night, have done for a number of years otherwise I'd be like you and chuck the quilt off me all night. I also have a fan on me during the day too. I haven't seen the news today so hadn't heard of the accident down the mine. Hope he recovers quickly, he must of been so scared, poor man.

Going to bed soon, with working on my tree most of the day I'm shattered now, just got a few bits to finish off first, then I'll have another go at it tomorrow.

Morning all

Foggy here this morning and damp in the air. It was quite cold in the bungalow when I got up so the heating is on. It's the first time it's been on this year.

Not much planned for today so I thought I'd have another go at finding OH's rellies for him, which he's pleased about.

What is everyone else up to today?

Jane

Jane Report 26 Sep 2017 09:20

Nothing much planned here either today. .I think I need to get some of the insides of windows cleaned as they really need doing. That will be exciting(not). I need to pop out for some bread so once I have had my shower and hairwash I shall do that. I have just caught up on last nights Liar so am all behind.

Good morning Mel and Jane and the rest of you. Evening Kim.

Well that's out of the way, now for the NEWS.

Got to the hospital for my 3.15 appointment. The waiting room must have had 50 people sitting in there. Me being me. walked in and said GOOD AFTERNOON LL. Not a murmur. As both of us were on our sticks, a young mother with her child gave up their seats for us. I finally got called and had this test where you have to click when a light flashes . It seems to go on forever. I was sent to another department where they put drops in my eyes and tries to take photo's in the back of my eye. (the camera had a job getting into my eye) LOL LOL Anyway it turned out that my purples are very small and they couldn't get enough light through. Off she went and bought someone else. Who had exactly the same problem. So off I went to another Doctor, who put more drops in my eyes and spent 15 minutes looking into my eyes. (HOW ROMANTIC IS THAT)!!! Onward and upward, another eye test and pressure on my eyes. Finally got out of there at 5.30 pm The traffic around Northampton by this time was horrendous. It took us over half an hour to get home.

I had prepared dinner in the morning, so put in on when we got home. Had dinner about 8.30 pm I was passed it, so didn't eat. Couldn't see anything properly so I went to bed. Must be horrible for people who are going blind. My eyesight is back to normal this morning.

I have to be with the nurse at 11.00 am for my Testosterone injection, so a sore bottom for this afternoon, and into the evening.

Lewis rang last night to let us know how he got on at University . It was basically a registration day. But as usual he never went into much detail. No doubt we will get to know more as he get more into it.

Jane you might be kind enough to pass on your recipes to me when you have time. They sound very nice, and if it was that good, that you are doing it again for Saturday It must be edible LOL LOL.

I think it's the time of the year for the BIG black spiders to come into the warm. So I expect we will have more.

Glad you had a nice holiday Ann, I am sure the owner of the lodges will love your paintings, I know I do xxx

Real nothing sort of day here again, It's dry so I will walk to the Doctors,

Morning Gill, Jane and all,

I think we have the same weather Gill as it was foggy before I went to bed last night and by the outside light you could see all the moisture in the air like being inside a cloud. It was so still too and quiet. This morning it is still foggy and its the first time this year I have seen the Fairy Hammocks in the box hedge.

You know what I have planned for today.....SHOPPING.... yes yet another Donkey Day.

Must feed the wild birds although there dos'nt seem to be many about at the mo. I hope they are gleening in the fields and not been caught by the sparrow hawk.

What a wait at the Dr. Appointment 11.00 am called in 11.45 Gawd knows what she was up to. The place was almost empty.

Just copying more songs for Ros, while on here. Left hand doesn't know what the right is doing. I am bound to get the pages wrong.

Turned our a nice day now, clear sky's and warm sunshine. Roa is weeding down the garden again.

I will check with Ros if she will have the same meal tonight that she had last night, if so, I will do myself some fish in milk and butter with mash and peas. If not I will have to sort something else out.

Enjoy your "DONKEY DAY" Mel, Don't forget the OHs Cider. !!!

I will finish my book this afternoon, one more to go after that, then I will go back to my kindle for a while.

Hope you are well, see you soon.

Gillx Report 26 Sep 2017 13:43

That was a bit of a wait for your appointment today Frank, did they apologise for keeping you? Did they manage to take the photo of your eyes in the end?
How did you get on with copying the songs for Ros.

The fog has finally cleared here now Mel and the sun is trying to come out, it's a bit warmer outside too.

So you have nice shiny clean windows now then Jane. I really should do mine, they are quite mucky after all the work in the garden we've done creating dust.

I've been checking OH's family tree for a while then my mum came round for a cuppa so we had a nice chat for a few hours, just going back to the family tree now. I've managed to find almost 20 new people so far today, so it's all coming along nicely for OH.

Frank

Frank Report 26 Sep 2017 17:12

Gill, no picture taken of my eyes, and no apologies from the nurse. It seemed a long time just sitting around the waiting room, when I was in and out in under THREE MINUTES. I just had to show my thigh so she could put the needle in, and I was out again.

Pleased you are finding more lost relatives. When you are finished I can let you have a contact where you can have a scroll printed with all the tree on. That's if you would like it to keep. I treated myself to mine a few years ago, now I expect it's out of date.In fact I know it is with Simon getting marries two yeas ago, I need Sally's details to add to it.

I called Ros in at about 4.00 pm for a cup of tea and cake. She said her bin was full and could I get it and empty it in the green bin. FULL wasn't the word, I almost had a heart attack lifting and carrying it from the bottom of the garden. Then I could hardly lift it into the green bin. I had a quiet word with her over it, saying I am not sure if the insurance is up to date LOL LOL.

She's quite happy to have a repeat of last nights dinner, so I will do my fish, with a Jacket and a bit of coleslaw.

Not a bad evening here, the SUN is a ball of fire, going down over the back garden.

See you later folks.

Crikey Frank that was quite an ordeal yesterday with your eyes! and then the long wait this morning for the GP appointment. Maybe she had been out on an emergency visit if she was on house calls. At our surgery if a GP is running late it will flash up on the screen .It will usually say Dr so snd so is one -2 patients behind. How's your bum :-D

Nice day here and pleasant to sit out in the sun. Chris has decided to make Green Tomato Chutney with all the green toms that aren't ripening now. They are soaking with onions in salty water at the moment. I don't even know that we like Green Tomato Chutney LOL

Frank i will sent you an email of the pic of the Recipes like I did for Mandy. If you find it difficult to see maybe Ros will be able to easier. I will send the Turkey one and the Potato one. Just sent them :-D

How was Donkey Day Mel. Didn't you used to do that on a Monday?
Chris is in his jim jam things as he has had a bath this afternoon after digging over a very hard and dry veg patch this morning. He is reading his book in the Summerhouse now.
Easy dinner. Diced Chicken Breasts with Lloyd Grossman Chicken and Chorizo sauce,.I have it done so justs needs warming through later and I'll do rice and Asparagus .I added chopped mushrooms to the sauce (so that is another veg ;-))

Lots of Ladybirds on the windows today. I hope we aren't going to have trouble like we did a few years back when there were hundreds !. What with Daddy Longlegs, big spiders and now Ladybirds !!!! what next?

Who is it that likes the Youngs Jumbo Scampi? Mandy or Anne of both? They are half price in Tesco at the moment .I got a couple more packs :-D
