Morning all

Dry but a bit windy here today. We're suppose to be getting Gales tonight, so OH and I have been adding more rocks around the larger pot plants this morning in the hope they won't get blown over. We've also moved a few of the smaller plants to a more sheltered spot so they are protected as well. I noticed the twisted willow cutting my neighbour gave me a few months ago had roots on it almost 3 inches long. He told me to put the cutting in water for the roots to grow and when I looked today with the size of them I've now planted them up, so hopefully we'll have some nice plants from them next year. A couple of them have already started showing signs of new leaves.

Sandra has watch the Monkey programme Frank and loves it. Sorry to hear you still have your cold. Don't go cutting the lawns today if you don't feel up to it, look after yourself and keep warm instead. I'm sure your cold will go soon then you can sort out the lawns if the weather lets you. If I lived closer I'd do them for you.

I watch Ambulance Ann and saw the woman showing the paramedic her dance. It's such a shame when the only company these people have is when they call the ambulances out. Like Jane said the paramedics are brilliant in the way they handle these situations.
No, OH hasn't done the bedroom, he hasn't had a chance to speak with the daughter properly yet. He saw her yesterday and now she'd like the whole outside of the bungalow painting rather than just the front, so that's where he is now. Not sure if the bedroom will be done or not at the moment. The daughter is going to a meeting this afternoon to find out the outcome of the assessment and to see when her mother can return home. So no doubt we'll know more later.

I've got another Christmas film on pause, so I'd better go as Sandra is waiting to watch it.

Morning all,

I think we have the same weather today as Gill. It a bit dull with some bright spells but dry with a little wind. Washing is out and I need to get another load in.

Still having the dreaded Error page and have to get in through Customer Support and then wait a bit before I can get to my threads.

Frank you keep nice and warm today and see if the weather is ok for Simon to mow the lawn for you. It should'nt take him long a nice strapping young lad like him. I am sure he would'nt mind. Hope you feel better tomorrow as it sghould'nt be long now before the cold leaves you.

When did you say you have to have your flu jab?

Annx Report 4 Oct 2017 11:16

Morning All,

Sorry to hear the cold/cough is still hanging about Frank. Good idea to have another snooze in bed for a while. I find the natural Honey and Lemon (Sainsbury's have it) at bedtime soothing and helps stop the coughing for a while at night. I bet Ros feels a bit more comfy now without the ring. I think MIL had the operation she might need.

I have had brittle toenails for a few years Mel......it's hard to get a straight edge with the scissors as they just break. Reaching them is harder too as my tum gets in the way. :-S I have to sit sideways on the edge of the bed with my leg stretched along it to reach mine.OH has offered to do them but I don't want to end up looking like Dobbin's hooves!! I couldn't have better fingernails though, my sister wishes she had them and thought they were the stick on ones!

I feel quite achey after my long plod around the shops yesterday, but my knees get stiff if I sit long so we aren't going to see the Judi Dench film today.....maybe tomorrow instead.

Jane, I am already going nuts from not being able to find the 'stick'. It will mean such a lot of work going through my papers to reconstruct even some of it. I expect that's what I will have to do though, but there's still the worry of where it is and that it could get into the wrong hands if I chuck something out that has it hidden in it!!??

We were staying in today, but I think we will pop to one of the garden centres that does nice fluffy jacket potatoes. I fancy a tuna one and I could look at what they have to plant in the wall pots at the back of the bungalow and they have The Works where the shoes used to be so that is always worth a look too.

The sun is just managing to break through now, but the sky is full of cloud so I think it will be short lived.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 4 Oct 2017 12:31

Ann your lucky if you can cut your toenails with the scissors as I have to use wire cutter!!!! Talking of scissors I still hav'nt found my pink and white ones. I was looking through some of the pictures of my makes and one picture had them on the windowsill. I am hoping thats a clue that I may find them soon.

Its so annoying when you know you have these things and for the life of you you cannot find where they are hideing.

Suns in and out here also with a tad of blue sky here and there and grey clouds.

Second lot of washing is on the line and now I am going to wash a load of hog bowls and do a bit of ironing and putting away before getting lunch.

Afternoon all,

No sun here today just black looking clouds and plenty of wind .

It's Colins birthday today he's seventy ,the family are coming later for a meal so lots to do .

Sorry that cold is still clinging on to you Frank ,you must be getting fed up with it now ,keep in the warm and sleep when you can .

Frank

Frank Report 4 Oct 2017 14:12

I know I am a naughty boy. BUT !!! Ros went to Tesco and the local garage to have a bulb replaced in the front side light. The lawn was dry, so I have done the front one ONLY. The mower is now back in the garage and I am sweating like a good un again.

I'm glad Sandra likes the Monkey's, we were up at 8.00 this morning to watch them. I aught to record the series, then it wouldn't matter if we missed one.

After my STROKE I tried to get my feet looked after on the NHS. NO LUCK. he said I wasn't incapable enough. I struggle with nail clippers, but my arms aren't long enough LOL LOL I won't let Ros near them in case she catches the skin, and as I bleed a lot when cut, it's a NO NO.

Did you have your Tuna Jacket Ann, that sounds very nice. We had a Ham,cheese and tomato pizza. It made a change from soup or sarnies.

Happy Birthday to Colin. Hope he has a nice afternoon/evening, are the children coming round after school ??

Ann/Mel, you are a pair for paying things away, and not being able to find them. You are a pair of LITTLE BO PEEPS <3 <3 <3 They will turnip when you least expect them.

It's nice to see a few of you posting during the day. I enjoy your company. <3 <3 <3

Armchair calling now, so I might get forty winks before Ros comes home.

Annx

Annx Report 4 Oct 2017 15:29

Yes I had a tuna jacket Frank with salad and home made coleslaw and very nice it was too. OH had a bacon and brie one, which he had had before and enjoyed. :-D We didn't stay very long as he wanted to get back to write up more notes. Your pizza sounds tasty.

Yes you are a naughty boy sneaking out to get the mower out while Ros is busy at the garage, but sensible to do just the small lawn and not attempt the bigger one. Will you tell her.....or pretend you have been snoozing and resting all the time? lol.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Colin Mandy and I see he is another to join the '70' club! I bet the children will be helping him celebrate and with any present opening if they can.

Gillx

Gillx Report 4 Oct 2017 15:49

Happy 70th Birthday to Colin Mandy, he'll enjoy all the family around on his special day.

I love tuna jacket potatoes Ann. I bet the homemade coleslaw was delicious.

So you've done one lawn then Frank, sensible to leave the other one for another day, you don't want to over do things. Sandra made a pizza a while back, I bought the base and she picked what she wanted to put on it, she had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed eating it.

OH's ran out of paint for the neighbours bungalow so is waiting for her daughter to turn up with more, she said she would call round today but hasn't turned up yet. Unfortunately it's just started to rain so he'll have to do it tomorrow if the weather is nice and she brings the paint round. He's going to ask her about her mum's bedroom too as it would be easier for OH to do that job when her mum's not there. We're still not sure when her mum is returning home yet, the meeting was 2 hours ago so maybe we'll find out soon as OH wants to finish the outside painting before her return so it look nice for her and hopefully her bedroom if her daughter still wants him to do it.

Sandra enjoyed the Christmas film earlier, I've seen it before so had a quick look at my family tree. I'm going to put all the info Mel found me on the tree now.

Jane

Jane Report 4 Oct 2017 17:49

HAPPY BIRTHDAY COLIN <3 A big Birthday today :-D.. What are you cooking tonight Mandy? You will have a houseful ! :-D :-D

I really recommend have toenails cut properly if it is getting too difficult to do yourselves. It has made such a difference for me even though it is not cheap. Frank,it might be worth asking again if you might be entitled now to have yours done on the NHS. Some of my toenails grow at really weird angles and the Psoriasis has made them really thick :-S

So naughty Frank has sneakily cut the lawn !!!. I'm sure Ros will notice LOL but hope she isn't cross :-D.. What pity that the 'ring' couldnt be adjusted Frank on her bladder. Fingers crossed she won't have to have the operation.

Gill,it sounds like OH is enjoying doing the painting for your neighbour. Does he feel at a loose end now sometimes since he finished his job at the Nursing Home?

I think it is looking like we might have rain before long. I have just fed the birds again as they were pecking away at nothing in the tray of the window feeder.I used the tumble dryer today as I didn't think I woud get things dry outside. I have another lot ready to come out of the washing machine but they can just sit in the wash basket until the morning when I will hang it out then.

Ann is the film Victoria and Abdul? My friend went to see it last week and really enjoyed it.

The boiler didn't come on again this morning :-S. I was first down so had a look and Chris was wrong in saying there was no number flashing up. It was F26 the same as all the other times if fails. I did open up a valve on the cylinder in the airing cupboard and a LOAD of air hissed out. So I am hoping I might have done the trick . We wait and see.

When we go down to Gloustershire for Gareth's birthday lunch later this month there will be 15 or 16 of us !!!!!. Hannah has booked the meal at a local pub. I can see it is going to be CHAOS !!. She said we have to pre order our meals as there are so many of us.Heaven knows how they will seat us all together !!I .It will be interesting LOL
M&S meals for us tonight. I am having a Beef 'n' Mac which I am assuming is a macaroni cheese with Beef :-D. I have cooked up a load of runners with Garlic and Tinned Tomatoes as my neighbour brought a load of beans round last night. So I will be having some of that too :-D. No-one else likes my bean thing so the rest I will have warmed up tomorrow for my lunch with a bit of Sourdough bread.Yummy Scrummy :-D :-D

<3 <3 <3 HAPPY 70th BIRTHDAY COLIN <3 <3 <3

Its nice to see you all posting during the day.

We have a nice pork loin tonight with roasts, parsnips, oinions, sprouts and carrots and stuffing for oh.

I hope you have cured the boiler Jane. Lets hope you have done the trick.

Do you know I have never had a jacket with tuna!!!!!! I should try it. Oh won't eat tin tuna and says its like cardboard.

I did'nt get much ironing done at all today but did get the load I did the other all put away as it had been in the uti room on the airer for a couple of days. Its the warmest room in the house as the chest freezer is in there and the window is south facing. I have also had the dryer on for a while with a load of socks in that did'nt dry yesterday. I had just plonked them on the ironing board.

You naughty boy Frank sneaking in a grass cut while Ros was out. Now don't doo too much or we will all have to gang up on you. :-|

Yes, that's the film Jane. It has great reviews but it's still good to hear someone who has seen it and thought it was good. What's happening about the building plans next to you now?

Think I'm toddling off to bed. OH should be back soon and wants to watch the GP prog then. :-)

Morning all,

Dark wet and windy need I say more..................................

When I looked out the bedroom window this morning it was covered in rain spots but I spied in the back field one rabbit, one very busy squirrel, one Wood Pigeon and a Jay flew across to the wood.

Yesterday when I cleaned Titch out she seems to have established a poo corner where I put a folded sheet of Plenty so I did the same . I have been putting her feed bowl and water bowl to one side which seems to work better.

Frank

Frank Report 5 Oct 2017 10:58

Good Morning Mel and all, evening Kim,

We had the rain during the night, as the windows were all wet this morning. So no grass cutting today.

Ros is at "Stitchery Do" today. They are at the Chapel now until the Spring, as the Scout hut is so large and very cold in the winter months. There's no Choir tonight as the lady who runs it is somewhere else tonight. So I will have her company and the blooming soaps to contend with. One saving grace is there is football on tonight, so I can go in the conservatory for a couple of hours.

Just had a knock on the door. It was Tracy. I have Abbie for the morning while she is at her little job, She is sitting between my legs with her head on my lap. ABBIE NOT TRACY LOL LOL Her mum and dad are back in Kent sorting out more of his brothers things. Ros expects there will be more material etc. for her to take to Stitchery do.

Well I had better get on and do some jobs. See you all later.

That sounds like a Calamity waiting to happen. SIXTEEN people ordering a meal and finding a place that can seat you all. Lets hope the pub is well organised and can put a lot of tables together to cope with you all. GOOD LUCK !!! and I hope it all goes well.

So little "TITCH" is getting in a routine then Mel, her/his little toilet area away from his/her food. Have you decided what SEX it is ???

Gill your OH must be like an OCTOPUS with all these jobs to get done. How the heck he does it all with one pair of hands, I don't know. ;-) ;-) ;-)

Any news on the missing items ??? you will have to get the sniffer dogs out to help. !!!

Annx Report 5 Oct 2017 11:18

Morning All,

It was sunny here first thing but it's back to dull and dreary now. :-S No rain though. We are off to a carvery for lunch then home so OH can catch up with his work, but I might take a trip to Bon Marche as they have a new navy printed top and plain navy cardigan in that I like. The navy cardi I am wearing as quite old and has gone very boobly so I need a new one.

No sign of the stick yet Frank. I looked behind all my CDs last night in case I had tucked it behind. Abbie seems to have taken to you well and made herself at home. Did you get told off for being a 'naughty boy'?

The not so little hog seems to be getting her house in order Mel and it's good if she has chosen a poo corner. When do you think you will be releasing her?

Picked the very last of the runners this morning. Some were really small but they soon add up to a meal when there are quite a few.

Better get showered now.

Good morning all

This is the first time I have been able to get on here without getting the error message constantly.

I hope Colin enjoyed his 70th birthday Mandy, belated best wishes.

We are off to Sussex tomorrow we have rented from Welcome Cottages, the cottage is named The Cowshed in Westfield just a few miles to where I lived from the age of 9 to getting married, my youngest S.I.L. lives in the area with her O.H
so will be visiting them and they will also come to us for a meal. The main reason to going is because it's Mark's birthday on the 12th so will be taking him out for a meal so have to go to a dog friendly pub. Doreen next door is coming in to feed the cats for me.

I hope to catch up on all the posts later but now I'm going to start packing. Hope everyone is feeling well

After I posted this morning the sun came out and the sky cleared so now we have blue sky with clouds.

Cleaned out the bantam house this morning. I actually got them all down in the run so I could shut their bedroom door.

I take back what I said about choosing a poo corner as this morning she had pooed in the oppasit corner right in her water dish!! She had wee'd in the other corner.

Only needs to put on a few more oz till I let her go as she is 12 1/2 oz now.

Anne please complain to GR about the Error page as the more people who complain the better as they may do something about it.

I too am still getting the Error page even if I leave the thread and change page to see who has posted since I last looked. It is sooooooooo annoying.

No I still hav'nt found my scissors either Ann. :-| :-| :-|

Sunshine here for today, sitting here I can feel the heat through the conservatory windows.

Ros was home by 2.15 pm I was in the kitchen and wondered who was coming through the door, as I always keep it locked. She went straight down the garden to put the greenhouse to BED (whatever that means) LOL LOL.

I have complained to Genes again today, as I got the error notice.

I still can't shift this blasted cold. Hot and cold sweats, and still coughing. I would have loved to get the back lawn done today, but there is no way I could be out there. !!

I hope you enjoy your break in Sussex Anne, I expect it will be nice to meet up with family members. Happy Birthday to MARK for the 12th, how old will he be ??

Is the weather fair up your way Gill ?? It will let your OH get on with his painting.

So Mel, Titch has changed it's habits LOL Oh no,not in the drinking water. Can you not section off a bedroom part, to stop this happening.??

Rack of RIBS tonight in Hosin (sp) sauce, chips and B. Beans. Nice and easy and not a lot of washing up.

Nat.Geo. Has been good this afternoon, as that's all I have felt like doing.

Might pp back at half time this evening.

Afternoon Everyone
Anne I hope you have a smashing week away.(will have a peek at the Cowshed :-D)
Enjoy the Birthday Meal with Mark and the family. Fingers crossed the weather will be ok for you. New grounds for Ruby to explore too.Has she packed her little bag? :-D

Your nasty cold is really hanging on Frank. Are you still full of muck?

So Titch is not toilet trained LOL. At least he/she will soon be big enough to go on its merry way after lots of loving care from you Mel :-D

We have had British Gas out this afternoon. I only rang at 11.30 so that was really fast service. He is coming back tomorrow to fit another new pump and is making a booking for a Power Flush to be done. That will be nearly a whole days work :-S. He cleaned the big magnetic filter on the boiler and he said it was choked up with grot from the system. Where does it come from?? If we weren't covered, this Power Flush would cost about £600 !!!!. He also said our boiler in now 12years old so is getting pretty old now.I would like to think it will keep going at least for another couple of years.

So up early in the morning as he will be here at 8.30 ! I hope he doesn't have to turn the water off as my hair is in desperate need for a wash. I had to put that special scalp lotion on last night which makes it all lank and greasy looking.

Bad hip for me today. I have been hobbling around like some poor old soul.Boy has it been giving me gip :-S. Hopefully it will have eased off by tomorrow.

Fitz rang earlier and he was sat outside his little cottage in the middle of nowhere in the sunshine looking out over the sea at Dinas Head. It is his last night there tomorrow and he will be coming home on Saturday. Coming to us on Monday.I think this must be the longest amount of time that we haven't seen him in over 20years! I am sure he will have plenty to tell us :-D :-D.He will be exhausting LOL

We just had a little shower. First today ,although we must have had a fair amount of rain in the night as there were puddles on the drive.

Happy Holiday Anne :-D

Anne

Anne Report 5 Oct 2017 17:29

Sorry to hear you still have that nasty cold Frank.

Mark is the eldest of our 3 sons and will be 54 this birthday doesn't seem possible as it doesn't seem that long ago that I was that age, last September it would have been our 57th wedding anniversary. Mark was born in Hastings where we married in St Mary Star of the Sea. Paul & Richard were both born at home in Bracknell. Paul in 1966 & Richard in 1967. I would loved to have had a daughter but with Mark having Aspergers, we thought 3 was enough so I'm pleased to have granddaughters.

Just going to cook dinner now as Richard should be home shortly so I can put the last lot of washing in.
