Morning all

A bit of a dull day here too Mel but so far no rain.

It's 8 years since my nan passed away today, I do miss her.

I've been having problems with Genes and keep getting the error page, I couldn't get onto the thread yesterday and then last night I couldn't get onto my tree either. I still don't have access to my tree which is a bit of a nuisance as I was building it nicely for OH. Luckily I have another back up tree so I'm going to carry on building that one then transfer the info over to Genes once I have my access back. I've been in touch with Genes about it, but so far haven't had a reply.

I've not had a chance to read any posts, I'll try to read them today if I don't get the dreaded error page again.

Good morning to you all, evening Kim,

It's that damp horrible drizzle here this morning which is a nuisance as I was going to give the back lawn a shorter cut, ready for the winter.

So poor old Thomas got the blame for the lost earring, that's right ,pick on him he can't answer back LOL LOL. Lets hope the other lost items start to appear for Mel and Ann.

Lunch yesterday was a total delight. I made it quite clear I wanted a table away from the family area. We had a table in the window, overlooking the carpark and sitting area. I was surprised by the number of people who still SMOKE. The food was excellent and we both had clean plates. I went to the bar and got myself another pint, and found I still had money to spend on my voucher. Ros had a Chocolate pudding with chocolate sauce and custard, and I had an ICE CREAM SUNDAE in a big vase type dish. There was chocolate, vanilla ice-cream , Fresh cream, sprinkling of nuts and 100s and 1000s Honeycomb bits mixed in with the ice creams. Was we blown out after that lot.!!! AND I still have £1.04 pence credit to use up, if there is a next time.

I was home in time to watch the football, which was not very exciting. (I have been more excited watching PAINT DRY) I was not surprised to see the local Vicar being sent home from Strictly. I see ROMANCE IS STARTING UP with the girl from Emmerdale and GORKA ?? These things always seem to develop when you have all these people together, the same with GET ME OUT OF HERE !!!

Glad you have your new girls Mel, now you can look forward to "HOME GROWN EGGS" lovely !!

Hope you have a good catch up with Fitz Jane, and yes, that was a good buy with the wine. DON'T drink it all at lunchtime. !! we know what you are like. ;-) ;-) ;-)

No plans today, with this blooming weather, I still have two books to read, so will get me head into one of those.

Roast lamb dinner tonight. Not that I feel like it at th moment. :-| :-| :-|

I've managed to get back to the page before this one without the error page :-D :-D and my tree is showing now too, hope that stays showing as I'm on a roll with OH's side of the tree. I've got a lovely man helping me, so between us we're getting there.

I've just read what happened to you Ann with your car, it must of been awful, hope it's sorted soon. Don't let the garage fob you off....I'm sure you won't, but they will probably have some excuse or other to try it on with you.

Pleased to see you have found your earring Jane, poor Thomas getting the blame bless him. Love the photo of Jilly she's so cute. Glad the meal went well, the meatloaf sounded lovely, could you email me the recipe please?

I bet you were full to the top after your meal out Frank, the pud sounded lovely, I was telling Sandra and her eyes lit up, she loves puds like that. Hope the weather improves so you can sort out your lawns. The sun has come out here now, I've just been watching all the birds gathering together to fly somewhere warm for the winter and each time they flew in different directions the sun shone on their wings, it looks like they had little lights on them. I'm surprised they don't bump into each other and seem to fly all together back and forth without any accidents, it's amazing to watch. Sorry your football wasn't up to much, hopefully the next match will be better.

So you have your new girls now Mel, how are they getting on with your other girls. Nice fresh eggs to look forward to instead of shop bought ones, as like you say they taste much better.

Well, I'd better go before Genes starts playing up again. I've just noticed a reply to the message I sent them yesterday, so I'll go and read that now.

Afternoon All,

The car did start but with a bit of a cough and is at the garage now and might be there overnight. I expect they may want to start it from cold in the morning. As yet I don't know for certain what the problem is, so I just repeated what the breakdown mechanic had said what the problem was likely to be and how much problem it had caused. The customer service people didn't comment, but noted it all down and were very helpful, even impressing OH. They offered me a lift home or a courtesy car if I wanted and said they will deliver the car to my home when it is fixed to save me the journey back into the city. I should get a progress report from them this afternoon.

That's good you have some new hens Mel and that they are laying you some nice fresh eggs already. It sounds like they were working out who is boss with the kerfuffle this morning. I think you use your mobile about as much as I do! lol I got a spare battery as sometimes a battery can just fail. I wouldn't have gone out with a low battery if I'd realised I hadn't put my spare one in my new bag. I've never done that before, but look what happened the first time I hadn't got it.

I found a tiny notebook the Cats Protection League sent me and have been writing numbers in that this morning. There was an interesting fact in the notebook that I never knew. It says a group of cats is called a 'Clowder' and a group of kittens is called a 'Kindle'. :-)

OH is catching up with more notes and I have changed the bed and put washing on. I think while I can't go out I might as well start some sorting and tidying........who knows I might find some 'lost' things! lol. OH has had a senior moment this morning........he found he'd put the teabags in a different cupboard with the mugs this morning!! :-)

Ann, our mugs sit on a "MUG TREE" and ea bags in containers, with sugar and coffee, so we always know where they are. Hope you get a positive report regarding your car. Is it still under Warranty ??

Pam next door has just been in with TWO MASSIVE BAGS of material and sewing stuff. Ros is sorting though it as I write. She will pick what she likes/wants and take the rest to "Stitchery Do" next time for the girls to have a rummage through. Then what's over can go the the Charity Shop.

Have just checked the meat and par build the spuds and Parsnips. They can go in about 5.15 pm and the veg about 5.45. Hope for 6.00 pm dinner.

Was thinking of going to the pub tonight, but with them calling last orders at 8.30 and closing at 9.00 pm They will close before the football finishes. So I might as well stay at home. I'm sure I can find something to watch in the conservatory while the soaps are on. The new series starts tonight ,I think at 9.00 pm.

Fitz has just gone. Nice lunch with lots of chat. He obviously had a wonderful couple of weeks away and was rather sad to come home . He said he had just got nicely settled in to the cottage and could have stayed for a lot longer.

Ann,I am glad you got the car to the garage ok this morning .That is good they will deliver it back home to you and to be offered a Courtesy car. Chris is taking his car in tomorrow as the Throttle Cable Valve casing need replacing(I think that it what he said) . The faff he has had to get a courtesy car has been ridiculous. He just couldn't show his Driving License .It had to be done on line through the DVLA to prove driving record e.g. points or disqualifications etc.So he has an access code for the garage ...What a palaver!.
Chris hoovered to loft out this morning .He said is was worse than Miss Havershams with all the cobwebs LOL . The worse thing was he disturbed hunderds of dozy flies and with the loft hatch open they all came down and were everywhere !!!!!!. We must have gone through a good whole can of fly spray.Well one whole one in the loft and the best part of another can in the house :-S :-S. I was scooping them up off the window sills and carpets while they were still whizzing around on their backs.I am hoping I have got them all now.That was a right old job.

I don't think I will be cooking anything for Chris and me tonight.Just a meal for James.
We had Quiche,Pizza,Salad,Cheese and Biscuits and the Green Toamto Chutney that Chris made. The Chutney was very nice but so rich. Fitz has gone home with some :-D.He said it was the best he has had in years :-D
Fitz has had the results of his MRI of his lower back and it is not the best news. It seems that there is another disc compressing on the group of nerves at the bottom of his spine ,so he is being referred back to the Consultant who did his operation last year. So he could be looking like another op :-S :-S

We have road cones all outside our house and temp traffic lights as something is going on with drainage and big pipes. It is a nightmare backing out of our drive trying not to hit a cone when reversing.I hope they aren't going to be there for too long. The cones are all in the middle of the road and it is quite a narrow road.

After a bit of a drizzly and dull day it now seems ot be brightening up a bit.I can actually see a few patches of blue. Not a lot but just a few strips in between all the cloud.

All ok at the dentists and a 6 months appointment so thats good for a while.

Gosh did we have trouble getting the chickens in tonight. They would'nt go through the pop hole. A couple went in ok but there were about five who just would'nt go in . Oh came round n the end and I opened the door and between us we got them in. When I counted them I could only count 10 and not 11 so one may have gone missing while I was out. I already had to get one out of the field that backs on to us with the help of oh. Then later when I had my eye on them to see if they were going to go in one was outside the run. I opened the gate and chased her around and she went straight through the gate luckily.

Dinner is all late (I won't say behind!!) and is in the oven sausages mushrooms beans and chip for oh and rosti for me.

Poor Fitz finding out he may have to have another op but its best to have it seen to sooner rather than later. So he had a lovely stay in the cottage and did'nt want to leave by the sounds of it. Do you think he will go there again?

That's good your teeth were ok Mel. Don't you feel great walking out of the dentist when all is well! The new girls don't know the routine yet do they. lol.

It was the fuel filter they changed at the service on my car that was the problem just like the breakdown mechanic said. They were surprised it had failed and are keeping the car till in the morning to make sure it starts properly from cold. I shall be glad to get it back now.

Fitz had a lovely time by the sound of it and would have been happy to stay longer! Not good news about his scan, but in some ways it would be a relief to know what has caused the problems. The sooner whatever treatment he needs is sorted the better as he doesn't want things getting worse. How excellent he was so impressed with the tomato chutney and took some home! :-D I wonder why there were all those flies in the loft........do you think there is a dead mouse up there? What a job chasing them around the house with the spray.

How nice you had a great meal yesterday Frank. I could fancy the desert right now! I bet Ros has enjoyed going through the fabric as will the Stitchery Do ladies with what is left.

Morning All,

Dull and dreary day with that fine rain and its so dark . The colours in the garden are all autumninal now in shades of yellows, greens, russets and reds and with the winds we have had lots of the trees leaves have fallen already. The nerines up the border are all in flower like little naked ladies standing to attention with large pink flowery hats on and I still hav'nt replanted that clump oh dug up with the digger and its still sitting on the tarp in a lump.

More outward journeys today. Donkey day and I have to go into Holsworthy too.

Just counted the new big girls and there are 11 altogether so I must have miscountedlast nigh.

Five eggs this morning but one was layed on the way out the pop hole and they ate it!!

Nothing sort of day here also Mel, we had rain in the night and everywhere looks gloomy this morning. Wet everywhere so no lawn cutting.

Slept quite well last night, only had a couple of good blows to clear my head. Jan has the cough still, while mine is in my head and chest. Pam and Denis have exactly the same symptoms so it seems to affect people different ways. I know I will be glad to see the back of mine.

Ros and Carolyn have gone to RUSHDEN LAKES this morning for the first time. Sids Val went last week and couldn't find a parking space, so came home again. It sounds a very popular shopping place. NOT FOR ME !!!

You will soon be over loaded with EGGS Mel, have you got outlets to sell them ??

Nothing happening here today, when Ros gets back she is off to get her nails done, then onto Tesco. So no arguing here today. I might see her about 5.00 pm. ;-) ;-) ;-)

When I rang earlier they said they are retesting the car throughout this morning Frank to be absolutely sure it's ok and insist they will deliver it to me later rather than me collect it with all the trouble I've had. I asked them whether it was the filter or the seal on it and they said it was faulty manufacture of the actual filter. I'm rather hoping they will have washed it before they bring it back! :-D I think I'm going to be 'HOME ALONE' too once OH goes to his meeting after lunch.

It must be nice to be collecting some nice fresh eggs again Mel! Sounds like the one who layed on the move got startled! :-0 I have some snowdrops in a pot I've not got round to replanting yet!!

Well thats the least they can do Ann, it could have happened in th dark and miles from anywhere.

A bit of silly information. While buttering my toast this morning, I remembered my mum's old saying about cleaning a room or buttering bread. "Look after the corners, and the centre will look after it's self" Why should I still remember this after over 70 years. But when you think about it it's very true. In the forties with LINO floors, you swept all the dirt from the corners of the room, which left the dirt in the middle of the room, so you couldn't miss it. Same with buttering bread.

Well I have never heard that saying Frank but I think it is a very good one and nowadays with all these hard floors people have I think it should be revived. Good you remembered it.

They should wash the car after the trouble you've had Ann. As Frank said you could have been out in the back of beyond and you may not even had had a molbile phone. You would have thought the car would have been througherly tested befor e you had it back anyway and they would have found the fault then.

Its a sad day for me today...... mum died 7 years ago today.

Suns just come out after a short sharp shower when I was in the shed doping Titch.
