Evening all,

It's been quite a nice day ,sunny spells and still windy ,sister came this morning and she was saying poor little Molly is still having her special bath each week at the vets ,this is eight weeks now she has been having them ,they finally found out that she has a mite under her skin ,she is tested each week and when she has three weeks clear she can stop having the bath ,last week was her first clear week so hopefully she's getting rid of them.
She is also in season this week too ,her first one .

Seems as if me saying about the Fish Net tights has started us off on our memories again , i too had the white tights ,i remember wearing them with a pair of navy shoes and the colour came out of the leather all over the toes of the tights !!

Jane i always find it sad looking at wedding photo's and all the people that are no longer with us .
What a shame about the leeks ,lets hope your parsnips are ok.

Oh Frank what a nice thought buying the flowers for Ros ,perhaps she was wondering if you were trying to get in her good books ;-) :-D

I too had to do that this morning Gill.

Well I did'nt get as much done today as I had hoped. I had to scrub everything in Titch's box as she hadmessed in all the bowls and I had to wipe them on the grass before bringing them in to wash. Then I have to clean out all the sink and my rubber gloves etc. She now weighs in at 1 lb so I think I shall let her go at the weekend.

When we were talking a while ago about cleaning round the window frames and you were saying about how had it is to get right in the corners. I keep meaning to tell you to get a stiff paint brush. Only a cheap one. I use a half inch one when doing the shower as its the only thing I can get down our sliding doors. Thats an ordinary soft brush. I also use this from the chicken drinkers as they have a bit that the top slides into. If you just donk it in the creases it gets all the muck out.

Morning all,

Straight in today what a change.

We have sunshine and blue sky with a light breeze. Washing is on the line.

Have some good news. I have found a long lost cousin in the US.

Off out in a min to get some chicken food as I forgot to get pellets the other day when I went into Holsworthy.

Morning All,

Sun's out now after a dull start so more washing on the rotary and more in the washer. You have to get cracking when the weather is fine this time of year.

I've used old toothbrushes and a stencil brush for the windows Mel, but I always have cheap paintbrushes handy for jobs too. I have lots from when I used to do coachpainting. There's always gunge the hoover won't pick up in the grooves isn't there.

Off out now and see if the motor is still ok. I shan't be going off the beaten track just yet though!

I don't blame you Ann. Make sure it is ok for a while before venturing into the unknown!!

Going to get F&C for lunch so no cooking tonight for me.

Just about to put the second wash on the line.

Frank Report 12 Oct 2017 12:10

Good Morning Mel and Ann, and to all, evening Kim,

It's seems to be sunshine everywhere this morning. After all that wind and cloud yesterday it's a nice relief. I think we had a heavy dew last night as everywhere looks wet.

I remembered the flowers "ORCHIDS" The ones I bought for the 19th Sept. are just showing signs of going over, that's why I thought about replacing them.

My head is still full of cold, and I am continuing to blow my nose on a regular basis. I'm just about fed up with it now, it's been almost Three weeks. :-( :-(

We have our flu jabs Saturday morning at 11.50 am What a time to have them. ?? I am going to ring the Dr's to see if I will be O.K. to have mine, with this cold. My sister told me yesterday that a person who had the JAB in the middle of a cold, developed Pneumonia and passed away within a month.

Ros has gone to Tesco to get some bits and bobs, as she won't be shopping Saturday.

I spoke to both my Sister and SIL.yesterday. Both suffering with a colds as is my niece and nephew. My niece Susan aged 62 collapsed in the Doctors Surgery last week and was rushed to hospital with a HEART condition. So she will have to take things easy for a while.

To say the least, I have no plans to do anything today. When Ros gets back she will finish off the stew, which we will have this evening. She puts, stewing steak, Ox tail, two tine of soup, all the root veg you can think of, bisto, oxo, bovril , and water. Ut will simmer for most of the day, and believe me it's the best ever taste come this evening. Two bowls with a couple of slices of bread, and I am completely satisfied. Hopefully there will be enough for tomorrow as well. ;-) ;-) ;-) <3 <3 <3 <3

See you all later, hope the car behaves today Ann.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 12 Oct 2017 14:37

Frank I think I was told that as long as you don't have a temperature you can have the flu jab. I was a bit worried last year with an early cold and told them and they took my temp. I was ok after it.

Had our F&C and it was very nice. Oh is just going out mowing now so I have cleared all my hog bowls and lights off the back lawn. It certainly needs it.

No time to look around the shops just into the F&C shop and wait for oh to pick me up after getting his petrol for the mowers. Got my pellets and bought three broom handles to reserect my chicken feeder I make to hang a cabbage in the run. I used branches off a tree last time but they rotted too quickly so I thought broom handles would last longer now all I have to do is find the hanging baskets I hang on the tripod.

Annx Report 12 Oct 2017 15:40

The stew sounds very tasty Frank. When I have made them in the past I used to add soups and stock cubes and a bit of Lea Perrins. It all adds to the taste doesn't it! According to the latest thinking you are better off having your flu jab in the morning as it is supposed to be more effective then. Typical I had already booked mine (in the evening) after I read this. :-S That has been a nasty cold you have had but hopefully it is well on it's way and you will feel a lot better from now.

I'm getting lots of matches on my Ancestry DNA results now. It's very interesting what it can prove eg finding matching ancestors on your father's side proves your father you knew really was your father! I have so many matches in America that no doubt are descendants from the Quakers, with having the same surname.

We saw an interesting car numberplate in a car park the other day. It was on a very posh Mercedes and was STO8ART. Most likely someone high up from the lorry company Eddie Stobart.

We decided to pop out for a jacket pot and OH had a different one today with cream cheese, celery and grapes along with the usual salad and coleslaw. I might try it next time as he said it was delicious.

It looks like our council are to move to fortnightly bin collections! We could probably go a month between rubbish collections, but the recycling fills up very quickly each week. So much for encouraging us to recycle as some may have to end up in the rubbish bin if it goes ahead. :-S

Lovely and sunny here today so we've spent all day gardening, first we did a bit in our garden then we went to my mum's and did a bit there, then came home and done a bit more in our garden. I've re-potted the last plant today and moved a few more pots into the open then they get the sun and rain, so that's us sorted for the winter now. It feels more like summer here today, lovely and warm in the sun. Let's hope it lasts. We're off to MIL's tomorrow as it's coming up for her birthday, plus Sandra want to do a bit more Christmas shopping in the town MIL lives in.

The stew sounds very tasty Frank, I've never put soup in mine so might try it next time. Like Ann said it all add to the flavour. Sorry to hear you sill have your cold. I would mention it to the doctor before your flu jab after what you have just told us all. Sorry to hear about your sister and SIL Hope Susan is feeling better now and resting up, that must of been a shock, at least she was at the surgery when it happened so could be seen to very quickly.

So little Titch isn't so little Mel, she's a good weight now and should be okay to be let go at the weekend. How are your new girls doing are they getting on well with your other girls? I've been tracing some American relatives lately too, it took a while though as I'm not very good at searching abroad, luckily I found quite a bit on family search, but not all of them. I'm not very good on that site so it's a bit hit and miss for me, but at least I got something when I tried.

I don't think I'd like my bins left for a month Ann, is it just the recycling or all of them? Surely if the left over meats and things like that are left it would encourage rats and the smell would be awful in the summer when it's hot. The baked potatoes your OH had sounded really nice, I bet you're looking forward to having one yourself next time you go. What a clever number plate you saw, you're probably right and it's something to do with Eddie Stobart. How is your car now? Hope it's not playing up anymore, I think you're right not going to far off the beaten track until you know for sure it's okay.

Going to get a cuppa now then have a quick look at my tree before dinner.

Frank

Frank Report 12 Oct 2017 16:23

That sounds like an EDDIE plate Ann. !! I like a nice jacket potato, but must admit I am not very adventures when it comes to the fillings ;-) ;-) I keep promising myself a DNA test, to see how I came about and who my distant relatives are. I know I have some in Canada and New Zealand. How do I go about it Ann, and what sort of cost am I looking at?? The stew smells beautiful. By the time it's ready the whole close will be able to smell it. I hope they don't start knocking asking for some with a bowl in their hands LOL LOL

Mel your OH certainly mows a lot, how much grass area to you have ?? I looked at mine again today, but just couldn't be bothered. Perhaps at the weekend, when it's going to be warmer and they say Monday could be 25/27 degrees. We will have to see.

We have alternative weeks for bin collection. Blue and Green one week and Black the next week. The food caddy is collected every week. Green bin won't be too full as Ros hasn't been gardening.

Not a bad evening here, sun still trying to shine through the clouds, and not at all cold.

Madam is at the CHOIR tonight, so I have recorded her soaps, she can watch those when I go to bed. I hope I can find something worth watching while she's out.

Jane Report 12 Oct 2017 17:27

Afternoon Everyone

Mandy poor little Molly must be getting fed up with all her special baths. Hopefully now if she has had that one clear test then the next 2 will be clear too.How old is she now? Would she have had the mites before your Sister got her? Janice is worried that her Jilly hasn't come into season yet so will be having a word with the Vet.

Frank,I bet Ros was pleased with her lovely Orchids (even though her response wasn't what you quite hoped for LOL )
I hope your Niece will be ok .She collapsed in the right place didn't she !!

Ann I reckon too that the owner of that Registration must be a big wig with Stobarts. Maybe Mr Stobart :-D :-D

I have never thought of using a little paint brush for the shower groovy bits and also the windows. I will be sure to get some now. That sounds easier than a toothbrush as the bristles are that much longer.

I have just whizzed around and cleaned all the end bits on all the radiators . Muck, dirt and cobwebs. Yuk. The chap from BG will need to drain everything tomorrow to do this flush thing so will be opening rad valves I think.I shall probably be stuck in the lounge most of tomorrow as it is going to be a long job and I reckon he will be up and down the stairs so I don't want to be getting in the way. I will attack the ironing and watch tv :-D

I will post this now. What is the betting I get the Error Message !!!

Evening all,

Been nice and sunny here again ,the sun was really warm when we sat out having our cuppa we had to put the brolly up.

I shall have to get a paint brush Ann that a good tip to use one of those i do use an old tooth brush for cleaning bits and bobs .
I was talking to son about those power banks and he was saying they will charge phones and cameras so one might be handy for you when your out taking your photo's.
That filling for the jacket potato sounds yummy ,i'm going to give that a go .
Our bins are emptied every fortnight ,green household waste one week the black recycling one the next week .

Your poor niece Frank ,she couldn't have been in a better place to get the help she needed could she ,i hope she's resting and feeling better now .
Your stew sounds really good ,mum use to put all sorts in her stews just like you ,i hope you enjoy it .

Little Titch is doing well Mel the weight is going on nice and steady , i suppose the big hogs will go after her so she needs to be big enough to stand her ground .

Not sure how Molly got the mites Jane , she's now about nine months i think ,sister said she trots into the vets wagging her tail bless her ,she comes out soaking wet as the bath stuff has to dry on her skin and coat and sister said it smells !!! they have to put water proof sheeting down in the car for her to lay on .
So it full flush day tomorrow ,i bet there will be some gunk come out of the rads .

Evening all, BORED being on my own !!!

Poor little Molly, those mites must irritate her poor little body, I hope the treatment works over the coming two weeks xxx

Gill, I see you have been busy again with all your gardening. Has there been any more development with the next door neighbours painting. It's been a perfect day for it !!

So our Jane is getting a FLUSH THROUGH. I am sure you will feel better for that LOL LOL My little plumber around the corner is du to service our boiler when he has time. Best to get in done before the winter settles in.

The stew was delicious, I only had a small bowl, where as Ros had a large one. Should be enough for a bowlful either tomorrow lunchtime or tomorrow night.

Sounds like "Titch" is ready for the off then Mel, Will you be able to keep an eye on her when she is released ??

Cold beer waiting for me on the table HIC HIC. See you tomorrow.

Annx Report 12 Oct 2017 20:29

We get a weekly collection at the moment for both rubbish and recycling, so it seems we are lucky, but they are thinking of making both fortnightly instead. I wouldn't relish the idea but meant there would be space in our bin for it to last a month. Everything that goes in it from the kitchen is in a tied off polythene bag as we save them off everything we can to use this way which keeps it less smelly.

You have had a lovely day for doing the garden Gill. We intend to get on outside over the weekend as there is lots needs doing. I bet Sandra is hoping to see some Christmas decorations if you go shopping!

Frank, you need to pay a subscription to the Ancestry site to see any matches on their DNA test I did which is the one they offer. It also helps if you have your family tree on there too which I don't at the moment! You cannot see an obvious connection on most of the matches, as many do not have their family tree on there so no list of the surnames in their tree will appear. I would say you need to be able to do a bit of detective work. One family branch I have is a 'brick wall' as they were travellers and I have found other families in the census with the same surname but never been sure whether they were related some way. These individuals have now turned up in the family trees of some of the DNA matches I have, so that more or less proves they ARE related, even if I don't know how yet!! The cost varies as they have offers from time to time, but I think other sites do them as well now but I don't know what the differences are or what information you get from those. I hope your niece is ok now after collapsing like that. It was lucky she was at the surgery with help on hand.

I bet Mollie will be enjoying the baths if they sooth the itching Mandy. Hopefully she will soon be rid of the mites. Has she met Max at all yet?

I hope the BG man arrives on time and gets done quick Jane! It sounds like you will be up to date with the ironing though! :-D

Good uck with the boiler man tomorrow Jane and I hope he dos'nt take too long. Is he the one that like to natter?

Gordon's jacket tato sounded really nice Ann. You will have to let us know what you think when you have one next time. Perhaps you could take a pic of it to give us an idea please.

Mre gardening Gill. I could do with you down here to help me with mine.

I have been doing a bit on my tree after coming back from Holsworthy. I hav'nt touchedit for a while now so have been doing the GRO index on ones that I can but now I have reached people born in the 1830's its not so easy.

Does Molly have to go to the vets for her bath then Mandy? She looked so sweet sitting there like a good girl.

We had fried eggs sandwiches for tea. The yolks are still pale yellow and that was todays eggs. I hope they improve as oh says he dos'nt like anemic eggs.

Going back to my tree now.

No more painting to do at the neighbours for the time being Frank as she said she'd ran out of money to buy more paint. Mind you she did buy lots of things to smarten the property up, what with the wallpaper and all the interior paint, plus the new carpet and she said she needed to buy new curtains so I can understand that the money has now ran out. OH has said when she wants the outside finishing to let him know, but if she leaves it to long then it'll be next year, as the weather will probably be to wet to paint in.

I love gardening Mel and would help you if I lived closer ;-) So you have anaemic eggs? Hopefully they'll improve soon.

So you're having the rads power flushed Jane, good idea to use the time to do your ironing.

We've decided to go to MIL's on Tuesday now Ann so we can see her on her actual birthday rather than a few days before. Yes Sandra is getting quite excited about Christmas shopping and also wants to go back to the garden centre on the way home from MIL's to see all the Christmas decorations they were putting up the last time we were there. The screens should be gone now and all the Christmas trees will be decorated and lit up. :-)
