Morning Mel and Frank morning all

Yes I did have a late night last night, didn't get to bed till after 2.30am and was up again at 7.30 this morning. I've never slept that much. It's very warm here today but with a few small showers of rain. I've re-potted another plant today, I've got one more to do but ran out of compost so that can wait for now. Shame you couldn't have Abbie today, she would of been good company for you. Hope Denis has a nice 85th birthday, he'll enjoy the present you gave him.

Going for a nice soak in the bath now then I'll catch up with a few programmes I've recorded.......more Christmas films with Sandra and then I'll do a bit more on my family tree. So I'm being boring today too LOL ;-)

Gillx Report 13 Oct 2017 12:35

I can't believe Genes is playing nicely today after such a long time of getting the error page....let's hope it stays this way.

Just had a lovely hot bath which has really helped my sore back and I've given myself a mani-pedi so they're looking good too. Just going to dry my hair now.
It's nice to have a bit of pampering :-D :-D :-D

Gillx Report 13 Oct 2017 14:33

It's very quiet on here today, where is everyone? :-S

Frank

Frank Report 13 Oct 2017 14:39

I've just cut the front lawn, aught to tackle the back, but I know I will be shattered if I do. So that's a job for the morning before the flu jab.

Ros had a bowl of stew for lunch while I had a nice dressed crab sandwich and a coffee.

Gill can'y you just leave Sandra to watch her films, so you could be doing your own thing ?? Whatever that might be.

There is a bit of blue sky appearing to the west. So it might be nice down with Mel. Talking of Mel, how many eggs have you had today. ??

I trust your car is O.K. today Ann, and that Chris's car is services and ready to collect. Or did he go and wait for it ??

Back to my book now, see you later.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 13 Oct 2017 14:55

I only had two eggs this morning but I hav'nt been round there yet this afternoon.

We had a short, very short, spell of sunshine after I went to the library and now its all clouded over again. The library lady had two books for me and she was on a smaller van that a man usually drives. As I looked through the spoken word books the top of them which should have been white were thick grey with dust. I shall have to wash the one I picked from there but the two Julie ordered me were clean as a new pin.

Yes Gill why do you have to watch the films with Sandra please? I have often wondered that too.

I have a line of washing out but I don't think it is going to dry much but at least it may smell nice for being outside.

Think I shall go and clean the loos and then do a bit of ironing.

O I must find something for dinner tonight in the freezer.

Annx Report 13 Oct 2017 17:16

Afternoon All,

It's been very mixed weather here today, some short showers with a bit of sunshine in between, but now it is quite windy.

I bet as the new hens get plenty of your good food and greenstuff, their yolks will soon be a nice deep orange colour Mel. They seem to taste much better than the pale ones like your OH says.

I went beading to my friend's this morning and we had a good natter and got on with our projects! The car is behaving now and after I met OH at the carvery. We then dropped my car at home and went on to a different garden centre we haven't been to for ages. They had only just started decorating for Christmas, but we had a nice hot chocolate while we were there.

I have just got one of my M&S free turkeys I got with The Mail out of the freezer to defrost for Sunday lunch as we have decided to eat at home as it is getting so busy everywhere and also I could do with more freezer space ready for Christmas. OH says if I get the veg out I want doing tomorrow he will do those when he's back from footie. :-D He's managed to twist his back putting the cases back in the loft this morning so he'll be having a soak in the bath tonight.

I'm going to get one of those power packs Mandy and you are right it would be handy for recharging my camera as well.

Has anyone made their Christmas cakes yet? I used to enjoy that smell of fruit and spices in the kitchen.

I hope Jane didn't get too 'flushed' today and that all is well with the boiler.

Gillx

Gillx Report 13 Oct 2017 17:26

Sandra likes the company Mel and Frank, I don't mind and I do a bit of my family tree on my lap top at the same time.

Sorry to hear about your OH Ann, hope his back feels better soon.

Jane

Jane Report 13 Oct 2017 17:49

Afternoon All
Well the gas man arrived at 8.30 and after a check on the new pump amd the radiators he decided that we didn't need to have the Flush thing after all. He did check with his Boss and told him his reasons why he thought we didn't need it . So he was gone again by 9. 15. He did say if anything changed just to call them back and they can still do it.
I had all my ironing done by 10 LOL :-D. This afternoon I have been around all the walls and ceilings with the Cobweb Brush. Honestly I can't believe the amount of webs.I still have more to do tomorrow.
My back and side have been agony today ,so have had lots of painkillers and Chris has been rubbing plenty of Nurofen Gel in it for me. I think i am finding this better than the Voltarol.

Chris did the lawn too today Frank. He is hoping it might be the last time.I am not sure about that though. All washing dried on the line even with a shower. The breeze was strong enough to dry it all :-). Then I have been looking up places to eat next Friday when we go to the cottage. I have found a place that looks nice just 3or 4 miles away so tomorrow I will ring and book a table for Chris ,James and Me. I might give Janice a call and see if she and Larry want to join us .But they may be on Babysitting duty.We will see them on Saturday anyway at the big lunch.

So Gill you have given youself a bit of pampering today :-D. I bet you feel nice and relaxed after your lovely bath and hair wash and also having lovely looking nails.
My nails are a mess with the varnish all chipping. That is a job for tomorrow. I keep them varnished all the time now to cover up the horrible state they are in because of the Psoriasis .It is going to take so long for them to grow out and I still don't know if they will be 'normal'.

Frank ,did you ring to see if you could actually have your Flu jab tomorrow? I am sure if you are still full of cold you wont be having it.

How is Titch today Mel.? It can't be long now before you let him free. I just remembered one of my nicknames at school was Titch :-D It was the boys that called me that.

Is it Anne's last night on holiday at The Cowshed? I love that name :-D. I bet Ruby has had a good time exploring all the nice new smells.

James is going to Jess tonight.I don't envy him this long journey as it is even further now she is in Canterbury. I must ask him how long it takes him.But I am sure it has to be 3 hours or more :-S

Hannah had a scary thing happen the other day. She was just walking along the pavement and a man collapsed just in front of her.Hitting his head on the kerb. He started fitting. She says he was probably about 60 and an alcholic .He had come out a shop with a can of Cider and was probably needing it which is why he was having a seizure. She rang 999 and had to stay on the phone being given instructions as to what to do until the Paramedic on the Motorbike turned up. She was so worried the man was going to stop breathing and she would have to perform CPR. But thankfully that didn't happen. She stayed with him for 25 minutes as she felt bad that he was all on his own . She said the number of people who just walked on by and offered no help was disgraceful .She heard one person say "Oh I bet he is a Crackhead " She wanted wait with him until the ambulance got there but it was so long in coming she had to get to work, but he was in good hands with the Paramedic.

I must put some lights on here. I have just realised I am sitting in the dark !!!

Jane

Jane Report 13 Oct 2017 18:55

Gill, I expect it is nice for you to sit with Sandra while she watches the Christmas Films . You can have a bit of a rest and do your family tree at the same time :-D.Sounds ideal to me :-D

Oh Ann, I hope OH's back will not be too bad and the nice bath will ease it.

Just heard Thomas scrabbling over the fence and he had a baby rabbit in his mouth !
He was trying to bring it in :-S. But after chasing him he has gone off under the hedge with it. That is his dinner for tonight then. It has been months since I have seen him with a bunny. I didn't think there were any around.

Did you all see the man who swallowed the fish he caught !!!!!. My word he was lucky to have come out from a Cardiac Arrest . The Ambulance man will be a hero for'fishing' it out of his throat. That must be a first !

Gillx

Gillx Report 13 Oct 2017 18:57

Poor Hannah Jane, that must of been a shock to see, nice that she stayed with him until the paramedics arrived. Shame on those people who just walked by, how would they feel if it was them that needed help and no one stopped. You have brought Hannah up so well and must be so proud of her.

What a shame you didn't have the power flush it would of made your rads much hotter. Has the problem been fixed now then?

Pleased to hear your car is playing nicely now Ann. What are you making with your beads?

Just finished watching a film with Sandra, it was a bit confusing and we were going to delete it but stuck with it. I'm glad we did as it turned out to be a good film in the end.

I've just heard on the news that there is a storm on it's way that coincides with the great storm of 1987. I remember that storm and the way Michael Fish said there wasn't a storm on the way. I bet that's how people remember him now.

The storm we're getting is the tail end of hurricane Ophelia, bringing winds of 80 miles per hour up North, mainly in Scotland. I have an aunty living up there so hope it's not to bad. It's been very warm here today, very odd for this time of year. My Cana Lily is still in flower with more coming, they were the seeds Mandy sent us all last year.

I have just added loads to my family tree and saved it each time but when I go back to that person there are no notes there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gillx

Gillx Report 14 Oct 2017 00:16

That happened to me Mel. If you close your tree then re-open it, your notes should be there.

Off to bed now, with having a late night last night I'm starting to get tired now. See you all tomorrow

Morning all

Very windy here, but still quite warm.

Nothing planned for today so I'm going to see if I can find OH's granddad's sibling's families. His family lost touch with them all years ago so he would like to know if he has any long lost cousins. He didn't even know that his granddad was 1 of 12 children until I found them all, so I assume most of them married and had children, grandchildren etc......

It'll give me something to do as OH is out for the day and Sandra is still asleep.

Hope you sorted your tree out Mel

What is everyone else up to today?

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 14 Oct 2017 09:24

Just had the Error page again.

Morning all,

Dull old day here today with a slight breeze stiring the trees but its not that cold.

I have an EGG DELIVERY to do today to Em next door. She takes all the eggs I can give her and passes them on to her mum and sister. I shall give her the first lot at no charge as always till they get a better colour yolk.

Well I think I have blown it with Curiousfox. I was getting messages andnow I have joined (its only £6) I hav'nt had a message since. When I reply the replies come to me so my long lost cousin has been lost to me again. I can't find out how to put another post on the site either.

Gillx

Gillx Report 14 Oct 2017 09:51

Have you tried contacting the site to ask them what has happened to your messages Mel. If they can't help try going on as a free member again using maybe your maiden name and ask the people who messaged you to contact you via email, that way you can keep in contact for as long as you like. I assume if you were to want to give out your email address it would be done through the site so no one could see it on a public forum. I've never heard of Curious Fox so I don't know how it works, but I'm sure they will have a help section or someone to contact for help. It's worth a try. Hope it's sorted for you soon.

Are you releasing Titch today or are you going to wait until the storm is over next week?
What does she weigh now?

Frank

Frank Report 14 Oct 2017 11:04

Morning all, evening Kim,

Vart dull here today, it looks like we could get rain, even though it's not forecasted.

I didn't ring about my flu jab, but will mention it when I go in with Ros later. If need be I will have it when I next go for my monthly injection, that's sometime in a week or so.
I see in my JUNK MAIL this morning that a payment of over £150.00 has been applied for from my PayPal A/C. This is being looked into by eBay, so will contact them later to see what it's all about. Some SCAM I suppose. You really have to have eyes in th back of your head !!!

No "FLUSH" for you then Jane, I hope the system works without it. You can always call them again if not. Sorry about your back and hip. I am using that cream on my elbow, that seems to give me constant pain. I think I know how it happens, when I go in the loo I use my left elbow/arm to close the door. I must be knocking the bone. !!!

Man. United play Liverpool at lunchtime today, so I think I might go to the pub, first time in THREE WEEKS. They will think I am DEAD. LOL LOL.

Just felt the back lawn, it's quite wet, so hopefully it might dry for me to cut tomorrow. I am hoping it will be the last cut, but with this weather who can tell.

Have a "NICE DAY" See you later.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 14 Oct 2017 12:06

Just had a panic!!! Went to the freezer and it looked like it was starting to defrost. It s a big chest freezer and its full up. Told oh and he came and changed the fuse in the plug and I put it on fast freeze and it worked. He told me to turn that off and see what happens. It has started to freeze again but its been on for quite a while so if it dos'nt turn itself off it may over heat!!! So we have been looking at new ones........

Gillx

Gillx Report 14 Oct 2017 12:24

I saw that man who swallowed the fish you were talking about Jane, on the news last night, poor thing he was only giving it a kiss......guess the fish had other ideas ;-) Luckily the man is okay and it hasn't put him off fishing.
How is your back and side today, hope it's eased for you now.

So you've worked out how you're hurting your elbow Frank, no more shutting the door that way now, best to use your hands instead. Enjoy your footie later. Be careful if you're cutting your lawns, you don't want an accident.

How is your freezer now Mel, hope it doesn't over heat and you don't have to buy a new one. At least you haven't lost any of the food you had in there, lucky you spotted it. Did you get in touch with Curious Fox, could they help you? I'll keep my fingers crossed you get in touch with your long lost cousin again.

Just having some lunch, then Sandra and I are going to watch another Christmas film, she's definitely not bored with them yet LOL :-D :-D
I'm actually getting into them now, although two of the films I recorded yesterday we'd seen before so I deleted them, the third one was good and we hadn't seen it before. That's the problem with this channel they repeat a lot of the films year after year so there's less for us to watch each year that we haven't seen already.

Annx

Annx Report 14 Oct 2017 12:35

Afternoon All,

Sunshine here after a dull start that looked like rain.

Frank I had 2 scam emails yesterday and thought I'd been caught with one! One sounds like the one you had supposedly from Paypal. It said they were looking to process a payment I had made to someone for £146.95 to an address in Cornwall and had the option for me to cancel it if I hadn't, otherwise they would make the payment. I clicked on cancel and a page of gobbledegook came up so I deleted it and the email. I rang our helpline and they said these were getting more common now and as long as I hadn't logged into my Paypal account from the email all was well. The other was supposedly from HMRC about a refund and of course I recognised that was fake just from the way it was set out, the terminology used and the dodgy email address.

I'm going right off Saturdays!! Last week it was my car that broke down and now this morning eating some lovely toasted seeded bread with poached eggs that tooth that has been aching on and off since just before we went away made a loud crack noise as I bit onto a hard seed. Over half of it has sheared off and below the gum too, so no guesses where I'll be going Monday morning!! :-S It feels quite sore and doesn't like me opening my mouth and getting the air on it, but at least it isn't aching badly at the moment. Why do these things always happen at weekends or Bank holidays when the dentist is shut?? At least I have plenty of Paracetamol and some toothache gel I can put on if it gets any worse.

It was a good job Hannah stopped and helped the man Jane. The trouble is these days with so many taking drugs and getting drunk, people are taking less notice when they see these things. So you weren't flushed after all, but did get all your ironing done which is always satisfying when it's done.

Gill I have started 2 different things at the moment! One is a gemstone pendant held within small beads, another is a necklace in 2 holed beads that is stripey and which I have started again adding some other beads so I will have enough beads to do a matching bracelet (I hope!). I have finished the frill necklace I was doing. It will be good to be able to see your MIL on her birthday. She must be so glad of your help and support. Sandra will be excited at seeing some Christmas things in the shops.

OH's back seems a lot easier this morning and he has gone to a match near Stoke-upon-Trent. He said there are some Abbey ruins near where he is going so will stop off and have a look.

That's annoying Mel. I know I have used Curious Fox, but it was years ago. I started to get the error page this last week but it seems fine again now.
