Oh dear Ann, your poor tooth, you're right though these things do seem to happen at weekends or bank holidays. Hope you're not in to much pain before Monday when it can be fixed. Your beading sounds lovely, I'd like to see a picture if you take some when they're finished. Hope you don't get the error page again, it happened to me for ages and I couldn't get on here or onto my tree for a while either.

Afternoon All
I can relax now after worrying about Thomas. The little devil disappeared last night after he had that rabbit and he didn't come in .Today there was no sign of him and the dry food in the Summerhouse didn't look like it had been touched. So about half an hour ago Chris set off to have a look over the back field and along the bottom of all the neighbours gardens. Literally 5 minutes later who should walk in but Thomas !!!!. Or I maybe should say waddled in. He didn't miaow or even come to me for a rub. Just sat on the floor ,had a wash and walked out again. He sat on the bench for a little while and has now gone off again :-S. I made Chris take his phone so at least he didn't get too far before I rang him to saythe Wandere had returned. I hope we don't have the same performance tonight .

There are hundreds of Ladybirds !!! . All over the house walls outside and I counted 10 on the inside of Hannah bedroom window.Other ones too on various other windows .
It has to be to do with this really warm weather we are having. I can see them now flying about outside.

Mel I hope your freezer is ok now and your food is safe. Could you ring your friend maybe and see if she could keep some of your food in her freezer if she has spare room. I was lucky last time my freeezer packed up and my neighbour had plenty of space to take most of my food. Is your freezer an old one? It is such a blooming pain when these things happen.

Ann, that tooth sounds nasty with it breaking off like that. It sounds like you might have a nerve that is now open to the air and causing pain. Just the thought of that made me suck my teeth LOL .Have you any oil of cloves that you could put on a bit of cotton wool and dab over the broken tooth. My Sister swears by the stuff and always carries a little bottle of Clove oil when she goes away. Have you managed to make an appointment or will it be an emergency call on Mon morning?

Gill I am trying to think of the last Christmas film I saw. I just cant think. Maybe ELF ( i think that is a christmas one) other than that all I can think of is one of the Home Alone films !!!. Which one have you and Sandra seen today?

It doesn't seem like 3 weeks ago that you went to the Pub Frank !! Hope you enjoyed a pint or 2 and the match :-D
I need to make the bed up as I changed the bedding this morning and if I don't do it now I shall forget :-S

I have had the boys and mum and dad and grandad here this afternoon looking at the big fish. I can't get to the last page so am posting this in the hope I can read your posts.

Jane Report 14 Oct 2017 18:30

I will never KISS a fish LOL Dead or alive. That man was so lucky that the Paramedic happened to be so nearby and had the long forceps to manage to hook the fish out of his throat.
My back and hip are still not brilliant Gill but better than yesterday. I think what made it worse was sitting in an awkward postion when going through all those old photos. I am sitting on a hard backed chair rather than the settee so my posture is better.

Thomas has just gone off down the garden and under the hedge. I had a stern word with him and told him he would be grounded if he doesn't come back tonight. I think it went in one ear and out the other :-D

Strictly starting now :-D

The freezer in ancient..........................................need I say more. Mum brought it down here from Redbridge. She had hers before she bought me mine and mine packed up when I brought it down here. I had mine in 1969 sp mum must have had hers a year before that so it has'nt done bad. There must be something wrong though as it has.nt turned itself off since we plugged it back in, well not as far as I know as I have been outside most of the time.

Ann thats just what happened to my tooth. The dentist filled mine and I only had an L shape left needless to say I broke it again on some hard seed in bread.

Must go and feed the hogs as its starting to get dark.

Glad Thomas turned up but he shorely led you a merry dance Jane. Naughty boy :-| :-| :-|

Annx Report 14 Oct 2017 18:56

Oh Mel I missed your post there! Is the freezer ok now? As Jane says it is one of the things you dread going wrong!!! :-S

Jane the tooth, surprisingly, is no more painful than it was provided I don't suck any air around it or poke my tongue around it. I'll have a look for some oil of cloves in the bathroom cabinets as I know we did have some once. The dentist is closed on Saturdays so OH said he will pop me there first thing Monday morning at opening time 8.30am. Hopefully they may see me then and perhaps do something temporary with it. Hopefully they won't have to take it out. :-S Otherwise you have to ring 111.Fancy Thomas going off like that and then turning up just after Chris went looking for him! Does Chris watch The Landscape Artist of The Year? It starts on Tuesday at 8.00pm BBC4 I think. I hope your back and hip are a bit better today.

I went for a spin in my car earlier and saw the fuel gauge had gone down a bit so at least I know it isn't stuck! Just need to see that the gauge goes to the full mark when I next fill up now.

I was wishing I hadn't got the turkey out to defrost when I broke my tooth!! Anyway, with putting it in the fridge to defrost yesterday afternoon and leaving it there today it is still frozen solid. I read somewhere that a 9ib turkey could take up to 3 days to defrost in the fridge so it can stay there now and may be defrosted by Monday which will suit me better.

Jane Report 14 Oct 2017 19:07

Crikey Mel that is a very old freezer!!!!!. It has done well to last this long. I definitely think a new one is in order now :-D :-D

Yes a Merry Dance is what I had last night. I came down 3 times between midnight and 2.20 just to see if he was in the Summerhouse !!. I won't be doing that again tonight .

I was reminded this afternoon of that Poem/Saying
Ladybird Ladybird fly away home
Your house is on fire and children gone. I can't remember the rest but I was just willing all the Ladybirds on my windows to be gone !! I really don't want them all in the house.

Annx

Annx Report 14 Oct 2017 19:56

The freezer's done well then Mel. I bought a big chest one in 1977 at my old house. It was icing up badly when I moved here in 2000 so it went to the tip. We bought an upright freezer for the bungalow in 2000 and that is still going.

Don't send your ladybirds up here Jane, I haven't noticed any yet! This white car seems to be attracting lots of flies for some reason though. It has about half a dozen on it every time I go out to it..........none on OH's red car though? :-S

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 14 Oct 2017 23:55

Your doing well Jane as last week it was flies in the loft and now ladybirds what next on the list.

Yes the freezer certainly dos'nt owe us anything. Oh has been on at me to have an upright one but I honestly don't think I would get everything in it. Don't forget I have to go 9 miles to Holsworthy and 18 to Bude and 13 to Bideford.

11.00 am And I'm the first to show. GOOD MORNING ALL, EVENING KIM.

Been up since 4.00 am and didn't get to sleep till 1.00 am Blooming head is full of horrible stuff. I will say no more. All the veg was done for dinner before 6.00 am. Ros came out at 7.00. She wanted the toilet, and saw I was't there so came out.

Haven't really read the posts, o won't comment.

The weather here is quite damp. I just went to the garage and you can feel it in the air, so no lawn cutting today.

I going to sit with my book and do nothing till cooking time this afternoon.

Conrad rang it's 27 degrees out in Spain. I think we are suppose to get the hot weather tomorrow.

Annx Report 15 Oct 2017 13:24

Afternoon All,

Dull here too! Sorry you had another bad night Frank. I was having depressing thoughts when I woke up this morning. I was trying to count all the people I knew family/friends/colleagues/neighbours that had died!!!! Where on earth did that come from I wonder? There were so many it was quite depressing!!! The tooth has behaved quite well, but it was grumbly when I lay down last night so I got an extra pillow and it was fine then. Just had a liquid lunch.........no, just soup and a toffee yoghurt as I could avoid the tooth with those. OH has just had porridge and said he will have a jacket potato with salad later or sardines on toast.

Mel, why not consider 2 freezers if you can? We had the upright one in the garage first and then bought a combined fridge freezer for the uti. It means if one goes wrong you only risk losing half your stuff and can cram some things in the other freezer if it isn't full. Obviously the uprights won't hold as much stuff as a chest one will though, but things don't get 'lost' so easily. I remember my first chest one was over 16 cubic feet, but that was when we would buy half a pig and lamb and packs of Aberdeen Angus steaks from the farm shop.

OH is taking me to another garden centre now. This one is small but tends to have very nice xmas decs the others don't have! Not that I need any more though! He's just picked the last of the toms.

I thought it was time to puttee dinner on (4.30) When I asked Ros the time she said 1.30 . Being up for so long I son't know where I am. !!

Have been sitting in the conservatory ready. The sun came out, and it got to hot to sit out there. Still a fair breeze blowing.

I Only had a bit of toast and my mate this morning, so my tum is starting to rumble ;-) ;-) so I might bring dinner forward by and hour or so.

This Martina Cole book (THE RUNAWAY) is difficult to put down, something happening at every page turned. The trouble is my eyes are starting to want to close, so I might give way to them for a while <3 <3 <3

I suppose everyone is busy getting lunch or eating it by now, so will see you later.

Grab 40 winks Frank and then you won't think about food for a while.

Ann don't you think all the Christmas things are getting a bit samey now or is it just that we have seen so many Christmas's so have seen everything? If I see something I really like I will buy it ut it has to be something different to the norm or a garland I can use again. I am getting to the stage where I can't be bothered to get things out and it seems to take me longer to get the house dressed each year. Not so srpitely on the steps anymore. The lights stay up in the kitchen ceiling all year so poor old oh dos'nt have to do those for me. They do collect the spiders webs but they soon go up the hoover.

When I wnet in the uti room for the hash browns in the freezer it was'nt running but went back in there afterwards for something and it had started again so I am thinking it may have just been the fuse in the plug and with it being of for a while it needed to get up to speck.

If I had'nt kept it full I think it would have defosted most of the stuff in there by the time I found it was'nt working. Thats the good thing about a chest freezer you don't lose so much cold air when you open it as you do with an upright.

Come to think of it I think we still have oh's small upright in the potting sheds. I wonder if that woud work now?

Afternoon All
The sun is out at last. It was miserable this morning. Chris has been all day digging in compost in all the flower beds and putting stakes in for Alliums. His knees are going to be giving him trouble no doubt as he didn't use the kneeler :-S. Silly boy.
I have got everything ready for dinner par boiled the potatoes and even made my own batter for Yorkshires :-D.. Aunt Bessies will remain in the freezer.

What a night you had Frank. No wonder you don't know what time it is now !!. Getting all the veg and things done musy have felt it was the middle of the night.. Well I suppose it almost was really :-D

Ann, I wonder if your dream was from me mentioning how many people had passed away in all the photos I was looking through the other day. I'm glad your tooth is behaving and not causing you any real trouble. Dentist tomorrow :-D

Mel I have a 7 drawer upright freezer in the garage and an upright fridge/freezer off the kitchen. That one has 3 freezer drawers . My 7 drawer one holds loads and I think you would be fine with something like that. Also I find it easier than a chest freezer finding things.

James has just arrived. He is really early.I wasn't expecting him until about 7.So I will now be able to get the dinner on the go sooner than I thought.

Strictly last night was good. Some who hadn't been too great had improved tremendously and there were some really high scores .I don't know whats on tonight.

MY TREE WON'T LOAD NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Annx

Annx Report 15 Oct 2017 18:22

I bet that was it Jane. I remember you saying that as I had thought the same the last time I looked at my wedding photos. Our freezers are a 3 drawer and a 5 drawer which is enough for us most of the time. It's Christmas that tests out the space you have!!

That's good the eggs are improving in colour now Mel. I bet the hens are settling in well now too.

Yes, I agree about most of the Christmas decorations. OH said today that he was glad we bought what we did when we did and said a lot are just 'tat'. This place today had all kinds of different fairies on one tree, some with peacock feather dresses, others in pretty lace and I remember my sister buying a few last year. They were quite nice, but should be at £10 each. OH can't stand fairies, not even one on the top of the tree, but he hasn't objected to my bead fairies I made yet. I agree about getting it all out and putting it up too!!!! :-) A couple of years ago when FIL was in the home, we only had the cards up and it was quite nice not to have to bother with it all, even though it looks nice when it's done. OH loves to see it, but then he doesn't do much of it!! Like you my balance isn't as good now on the steps decorating the top of our tree!! I know of someone who puts up and decorates 3 full size trees every year. Mind you she goes out for Christmas lunch so doesn't have that to do and is 3 decades younger. :-)

I thought they were a bit harsh on Debbie McGhee's marks on Strictly last night. The slight improvements they suggested were fair, but her posture, arm movements, dainty footwork and suppleness are fantastic.
