Evening All

So the missing scissors have been found :-D :-D How long have you been searching for them Mel???

Not having a good day then Frank :-(. Lets hope tomorrow will be a better one.
No I wasn't here in 1976.I was in Plymouth with melting roads !!!. I think Burrator Reservoir dried up then. We moved to Kettering in Jan 1985.It was snowing when we arrived and dark as it was evening. Chris drove in one car with Hannah ,a Carpet on the roof and a load of belongings.I followed in the other car with the cat plus a car full of stuff. The cat (Solo) yelled all the way here and trying to get out of the cat basket. It was not a good journey :-S Three hours of screaming cat !!!!. I was a wreck .

Anne ,that is good that Ruby doesn't mither you for a walk. My dear old Chester would not let up until he went for his morning walk.He would cry and winge until I went to get the lead.

What a do with the tyres Frank !!!!!! No wonder things are a bit stressed in yout household right now.

Ann that is quite a long time to wait for your new mattress .I can't believe a £5 fee just to know what time it will arrive !!!That is mad.
It has been like a Summer day today. Sun all day long and really warm. A clear sky tonight with a lovely crescent moon. We had a Hot air balloon pass over the house earlier.

Chris ,Fitz and I are off to the theatre tomorrow . Harold Pinters 'The Caretaker'. We will have lunch at 'Ask' beforehand.

That sounds like a nice day out Jane. I hope the weather is nice tomorrow too and will make your trip even better. I have been looking for the scissors since just before Ann went away so a long while.

It is a long time to wait in for a delivery which means someone has to be in at all times. When you are waiting for something to arrive it always seem to come the latest it can or not at all!!

We have chicken breasts, onion, tomatoes, mushroom, cauli and brocc whit a cheese sauce and the oven timer is just going off.

Been busy all day sorting out the greenhouse with OH, we've taken all the glass out moved it screwed it to the flag stones and cleaned and put all the glass back. It took us 8 hours as the glass was really dirty, it's so bright in there now. I didn't realise how dirty the glass was.

I'm shattered now so I'm going to have an early night. We're going to my mum's tomorrow to do some more of her garden so we'll be up early in the morning.

I'll catch up with the posts tomorrow, hope everyone is okay.

Morning all.

Just having my first COT of the day and what a miserabl;e dull one it is too. We never get two nice days in a row lately so when you have had a lovely day you just know its going to rain and be dull as dishwater the next. I was going to change the bed today but now I shan't as I don't want that all drying on the rads.

I have even turned the heating on as it so cold this morning and when I felt the rads it seems on has had them on anyway but whether by mistake or not as he turns the hot water on in the mornings so he can do the washing up.

I wish Jane would look in earlier as I have found lots of info for her.

Morning Mel, and all, including our Liz, Evening Kim,

Very dull morning here also Mel. Heavy dew by the look of the lawns.

Simon rang this morning to say they had just woken up it was 9.15. and he sounded as he wasn't really awake. So we could't meet up for breakfast. He's at work at Midday until 10.00 pm tonight. So he said they will pop over and see us tomorrow, not sure if morning or afternoon. We aren't going out tomorrow, so it won't matter. It's nic that he and Sally are keeping in touch xxx

Still felt like a pile of Manure all evening, with terrible indigestion. I was in bed soon after my last post last night.

Something good happened yesterday, My WEST HAM came from two nil down at half time, to beat SPURS 3--2 So I am well chuffed.

Gill you were very lucky not to have lost your greenhouse. Fancy not screwing it down when you moved it. :-0 :-0 :-0 With the wind we have been having, you could be clearing away glass now. !!!

Nothing planed for today. I will get showered and shaved and get dressed. I will start the last of my Martina Cole's book, and start looking for some more that I haven't read on eBay.

Ros and Martine have joined a slimming club. So last night I got her a Jacket potato, Sirloin steak and Coleslaw . Tonight I will get her a minted lamb steak with loads of vegetables. I will find something I fancy from the freezer. I can see I will be getting very frustrated having to cook two types of meals every night. She can't have fat/oil. I do have a one Cal. spray, which I suppose will help with her meats. I can also do braising steak in th over, which I like as well.

Forecast in dull and cloudy today, and getting colder tomorrow and the weekend, Great ain't it. ;-) ;-) ;-)

Simon has just rung again. We are meeting for lunch tomorrow at 1.00 pm.

Afternoon All,

Well done finding your scissors Mel!!!!!!!!! <3 <3 :-D :-D :-D :-D I use those felt squares on my trays for beading and am always finding beads and things underneath.

What a nuisance about the tyre Frank. It's always a good nearly new tyre that gets the damage too. :-S I wished I'd realised that hump with a low drop the other side that broke my front spring a few years ago had done that as I would have made a complaint/claim. It cost a lot to be fixed as they had to fit new springs both sides so the balance was the same, but I didn't know for months till it went in for service and by then they had altered the hump!! These things can cause a nasty accident.

Hope you enjoy your play today Jane. I would have done some searches for you but wasn't around yesterday so it looks like Mel has already done it for you. :-)

I went to a talk at the hospital last night. It was by Prof Gerry McCann whose daughter Maddeline went missing a few years ago. It was very good and mainly about MRI scans, how they work and what they show, but lots of interesting facts came out of it too. ( more reasons to diet! ) About 50 of us were there which was a few more than usual. I think it is such a shame though that these busy experts make an effort to come and talk to us about their expertise and inform us and answer all our questions, yet so few members of the public attend and it's all free too.

Well, the deluge is starting already!! OH and I have started getting the begging Christmas post from lots of charities. These are all the charities that MIL gave to, not ones we have given to as we never respond to postal requests. They are all addressed to either one of us and can only be the result of when we had MIL's post redirected to us after she and FIL were in hospital and the home 2 years ago. It makes me so cross that either the Royal Mail have passed our details on or the charities have looked up who is at our address after we returned the mail at the time saying 'NOT AT THIS ADDRESS or DECEASED'. Why should we have the burden of all this just because we redirected someone else's mail?? It isn't as if MIL got just a few, there were dozens of charities she dipped in and out of and of course they all thought they were on to a good thing and sent stuff every year then........and which we are now getting addressed to our names!!!

Looks like I'm the only one to post since this morning. Where are you all? lol. I have decided to make something to hang on the Christmas tree this year. :-) Ros is good joining a slimming club Frank as sometimes it helps to all be doing it together. I used to find it much easier to diet when I lived on my own, what with men being able to eat more and keep having food around! Hope you are feeling better now and that you enjoy your lunch with Simon tomorrow. :-)

Off to bed shortly as I need to be up quite early to meet up with my bead buddies.

I have been having a go at clearing things out all day. I have moved my sewing machine to the other side of the lounge but will have to get an extension lead as plug won't reach the socket and plug into the machine. Its mums machine and where she smoked in there all those years it has gone all yellow and it won't come off!!

I am wanting to do some more felting and have a few things I want to make.

Oh has bougt a new fly zapper and it keeps going off and making me junp out of my skin.

We had a mini lamb roast tonight and it was really lovely.

Evening All

I am going crossed eyed Mel LOL with all your emails . Thanks very much for looking all that up. I really only needed to know about Billy/William :-D :-D :-D. But I think you are right about his birth being 1937.This was the brother of my friend who also happened to be born in 1937. So either the Mum became pregnant twice in twelve months of Billy could have been my friends twin ! and obviously died not long after being born.
I have been sat here now going right back in my friends family tree and have got back to 1485 her 13 times Grandfather. I think she is going to be quite chuffed with all this.
Thanks again for your help :-D

The play was totally not our kind of thing at all and we found it so boring . Fitz I think was trying to make out he thought it was ok but even he did admit it was a bit heavy going. 2 hours and 35 minutes we had out bums on uncomfortable seats :-S
At least we had a really good lunch at Ask Italian :-D :-D

Just spoke to my friend and Billy/William was not born in 1937 . She thinks it was in-between 1922 and 1927. Don't worry about looking any more Mel. I will have a look on her Mothers side of the family next and might find him there.

I am switching this laptop off now before I go blind LOL

Frank Report 27 Oct 2017 11:12

Good morning to all my friends, Evening Kim,

Wall to Wall sunshine here today, and hardly any movement in the air. Heavy dew by the look of the lawns.

I sat and watched Autumn watch last night. What a very enjoyable and informative programme it is. It's finished now, until January, when it will be back with Winter Watch.

That's a pity about the play Jane. It's always the same, you think it should be good and it turns out rubbish. Never mind, you did get a nice lunch our of it.

Ann, Like me I return all "BEGGING LETTERS" with "GONE AWAY" across the envelope. I have also noticed we are getting a lot of mail from Insurance Companies offering "CHEAP" house and contents insurance. I just tear of our name and address from the letter, and BIN them. There must be a company out there selling mailing lists. Likewise with Telephone calls and cold callers. If I wanted (whatever they are selling) I would contact someone and not buy over the phone or at the door.

The place where Ros goes for "LINUS" the Bramble patch at Weedon, have been given notice to leave. It's where she makes the kiddies quilts. They have found new premises in Daventry 5 miles further away, and it's in a room up two flights of stairs. Ros said the her and Margaret are "Youngsters" compared to most. How on earth are they going to manager dragging their sewing machines up two flights of stairs ???
Both Ros and Margaret are seriously thinking go giving it up. Which will be a shame, as she has enjoyed making these quilts for th children.

After lunch with Simon. He is going to pick up his narrow boat from Weedon Beck where it has been for a few weeks having the bottom painted and the roof treated. He will take the boat back to Daventry, and Sally will pick him up later. I don't know how long it will take, I will ask him at lunchtime. At least he will have fine weather for the trip. ;-) ;-) ;-)

If we are lucky, Ros can have a meal that suits her at lunchtime, and that will save me cooking tonight, She says she is feeling the diet is doing her good, and it's only been week. Good on her. It just means me altering the cooking to suit her requirements, but I don't think it will be troublesome for me,being that I am such a expert. LOL LOL. (BIG HEAD I hear someone say) but i will mention no names !!!

Have you seen "TITCH" Mel, since his release ?? I'm sure he will be at the food like the others each night, until he goes to "SLEEP" for the winter. We are still getting "calling cards" over the patio, so we know ours is till around.

Have a nice day, whatever you might be doing. See you later.

Morning all,

We have yet anopther nice sunny day. They said a High was staying over England.

Got up and stripped the bed came out into the kitchen with it and oh was already using the washing machine so now I have to wait another 40 mins before I can get the bedding in.

I hate the bedding.........I am too small really to get it out of the machine and sort it out for pegging on the line.

Frank Report 27 Oct 2017 15:14

Had a very enjoyable lunch with Simon and Sally. When we left them they were going off to pick up their Narrow boat. We came home via the Surgery to pick up the scripts.
Ros will now do the tablet for the next four weeks for both of us. Where does the weeks go??

Beautiful afternoon, sunshine all the way. This is better than some of our summer days. !!!

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 27 Oct 2017 15:31

I'm pleased you enjoyed your lunch Frank. It is so nice that you are seeing your son again and getting along fine by the sounds of it.

Its still nice and sunny here too and I have hoovered and washed the bedding which is nearly dry on the line. Oh's wash is dry and in and I am now going to remake the bed.

Annx Report 27 Oct 2017 16:26

Afternoon All,

A lovely sunny day here too with an early morning mist. Good for Ros with her diet Frank. I have to get stuck into mine again on Monday. After losing 10lbs a few weeks ago I have put a bit back on since my car broke down. (must be stress!) lol. What a shame they are to lose the room where they make the baby quilts. It's ridiculous to expect them to lug sewing machines and their cloth etc up stairs. Surely there is somewhere else that's better for them. Well it's a great day for Simon on the canals taking his boat back. I wonder how long it will take too.

Mel I should have got my bedding done too as it would be dry now. I agree about sorting it when it comes out of the washer. I could do with being 6 inches taller, as no matter how I stretch up, it can still drag somewhere. You sound as if you are having a move around as well as a clearout. I have started doing the same in the study. What sort of fly zapper to you have Mel? Our tennis racquet one just fries them if you manage to get it in the right position and the one you plug in doesn't seem to be doing anything!

Gill, what a job cleaning all the greenhouse glass! I'm afraid I have never done mine. :-0 It's good you have got it secure now though so it can't take off.

What a shame the play was so slow Jane. I can imagine I would be fidgetting with a numb BTM after all that time too. Still at least you had a nice italian together. We are at last going to see Victoria and Abdul at the cinema on Monday. We were waiting till the children were back at school and I thought they had finished showing it so was pleased to find it is still on.

I have just booked a silversmithing workshop in January for me and a friend. It is just for the afternoon and we will make 2 silver rings each. :-)

Jane

Jane Report 27 Oct 2017 17:52

Afternoon All

Ann,I think you will enjoy your Silversmithing Workshop. That will something new for you to get your teeth into and 2 nice silver rings at the end :-D :-D

All this talk of diets and loosing weight, make me feel ashamed .I feel like a big blob. I just never seem to have the willpower to stick at a diet.
I am sure Ros will do well Frank, and Ann 10lbs was a great amount to loose.

After sitting in that theatre for so long yesterday and at weird angle because of the pain in my hip/btm I have hardly been able to walk today. I haven't been out. But have tried to keep moving and doing bits and bobs. Chris has just rubbed Voltarol into my lower back and bum. What a sight that would have been if anyone was watching LOL

Glad you enjoyed your lunch with Simon .Is his boat ready now to be put to bed for the winter?

Mel , I like you and Ann am short and hanging bedding on the line is a nightmare .Getting the kingsize duvet cover on the line is the worst. You think you have done it and then find half of it dragging on the ground :-S.
I did towels today .Someone said to put white wine vinegar in the machine instead of conditioner to make them fluff up. So I have tried that. Not sure it has made a big difference though. Maybe my towels are too far gone :-S

I am just going to shut my big windows now as now the sun has gone down the temp has dropped a fair bit. But what a lovely day it has been. Chris has done the lawn for the last time .I can't believe it is almost the end of October now and it has been like another Summers Day.

Deboned Chicken with Sunblushed Tomato and a Parmesan marinade ,roast Carrots and Leeks, and roast Charlotte pots tonight.. I am going to put fresh Tarragon in the Carrots and Leeks. The chicken is cooked so I must get the spuds and veg in now.
