Yes Mandy it is oh's birthday tomorrow same as your sons but he is a bit older than 40 bless.

I have been working on my craft this afternoon and its nearly finished so I shall send a pic when its done.

Have fun at the fireworks display Gill and all.

Jane I think Hilary is my second cousin. As I said before I was her bridesmaid and today I sent her a pic of the present she gave me as she could'nt remember what it was. She is 80 and does lots of good works for the community and church which is lovely. She is the daughtere of my nans youngest sister who died of cancer when Hilary was young so she was brought up[ by her dad. My nan nursed Rose while she was ill.

Evening All,

I thought they'd made the cut off point for fireworks 11.00pm a few years ago when they were going off all times of the night with parties. It seems that is still the case except for occasions like Bonfire Night etc, so tonight it can be midnight! Whizz bangs going off like mad here!

I bet the little ones are looking forward to their sparklers and display Mandy. I seem to remember letting the rocket off was the big finale at mum and dad's. Would it go up straight?

I bet Sandra is loving watching them too.

Frank I didn't do much better than you last night as I was awake till 3.00am and then awake again at 7.30am!

The pot holes along the lanes are more like ravines here where the mega size tractors have gouged out the verges and edge of the tarmac. You could do your car some damage dropping into them. I think with all the damage the farmers are doing to the roads these days they should pay more. Some round here cannot squeeze onto half of the road they are that wide. We've seen mobiles clamped to their ears which is stupid when you think of the damage they could do with those vehicles and trailers.

OOps better go......Blue Planet and Louis Theroux after!

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 5 Nov 2017 21:25

Oh always says he dos'nt know why they don't just send out a couple of blokes with a load of tarmac to just go around the roads and fill in the ones they find. Down here they come round and measure them all and spray white paint round them but by the time they come to fill them in the paint has worn off the road. The holes are supposed to be a certain deepness before they are repaired.

We once saw a man on a Sunday filling in potholes and he had his own car and a bucket of tarmac and a plonker plonker. we thought he must be a local doing out of the goodness of his heart.

Morning all

<3 <3 <3 HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOUR SON MANDY AND YOUR OH MEL <3 <3 <3

Nice and sunny here today but there's a nip in the air. There were a few bits of fireworks in our garden this morning so that's all tidied up now.

Well, what a night we had last night. First of all we went to the firework display in the next village to be told they didn't know what time the fire was going to be lit or when the fireworks were going off. They had a footwall match on in the bar which had only just begun and the fella we spoke to said the bonfire would probably be lit after that, which would of been around another hour and a half. Sandra was bored so we decided to come home and find the number for a place we normally go to, luckily theirs hadn't started and we had about an hour to get there (the journey takes around half an hour) so off we went, the fireworks were brilliant and Sandra thoroughly enjoyed them, but because of all the rain and hail we'd had over the last few days they couldn't get the bonfire to light, so the silly men started throwing petrol onto it. At one point the petrol splashed back and a fire started in another area, the fella who was doing it was covered in petrol and we were surprised he didn't go up as well. The petrol didn't work so they tried it again and again, until in the end it was getting quite dangerous. By then the fireworks had finished and because we were standing quite close to the fire, which still wasn't lit properly, we decided to go for a meal as we were all very cold by that point. Well, when we got to our usual restaurant we found out they were under new management and the food wasn't as good as it was before. OH's and my food was overcooked and quite tough. Luckily Sandra's was lovely. I had to laugh as earlier in the day Sandra was saying she was fed up of chicken then ordered a double chicken burger. I said to her I thought you were getting fed up of chicken to which she said but a burger is different......bless her. We were pleased she had a good night and she didn't seem bothered about the bonfire not being lit in the end. We decided not to bother with the burgers so bought Sandra a pick n mix instead, that's why we went out for a meal on the way home. We were home by 9pm so she sat down and watched her X Factor and Strictly. So apart from being cold she had a great night. OH said we'll have to find somewhere else to have a meal next time, so she's looking forward to trying out a few more restaurants in the future. I think OH was pleased they couldn't get the fire going as he's got a bit of a bad chest and cough so at least that isn't any worse and now Sandra is looking forward to Thursday when the Christmas do is on at the garden centre, she's also looking forward to going Christmas shopping and visiting her nan.

So Thomas was safe and sound in the summerhouse Jane. At least you know he was okay in the end. Yes, the moon was very bright wasn't it. The one thing we noticed last night was how big the moon was, it was also a bit of an orangey colour but that might of been because of all the fireworks and bonfires (not ours) lit.

How lovely to be in contact with your cousin Mel, it must be so exciting to email each other.

Pleased to hear Ros is on the mend Frank, you are a good husband keeping an eye on her. Do you know what caused the fall if it wasn't her blood sugar? Did she feel dizzy? It must be a bit of a worry for you both. Let's hope it doesn't happen again, maybe she was just still sleepy and lost her balance.

OH is at his mates today so I'm going to have another crack at his tree as Sandra is still asleep. I can concentrate better when it's quiet.

<3 <3 <3 HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MANDY'S SON <3 <3 <3

Morning all,

Its a bright and sunny morning here to so I hope its like it where you lot are as it is with Gill.

Washing is on the line and I am about to put more in the machine.

Oh forgot to put the bins out so he is going to do it now and hope we hav'nt missed them. Its the recyling bin that goes very early sometimes and the dustman come a bit later on in the morning.

What a night you had Gill. Its a shame it did'nt work out as planned but at least Sandra saw some fireworks in the end. Bit dodgy throwing petrol on a fire when there are so many people about.

We only heard two bangs last night and they were quite a way away.

Gillx

Gillx Report 6 Nov 2017 10:42

No it wasn't quite the night we planned Mel, but apart from the bonfire and the over cooked meal for OH and I it was a good night. Sandra really enjoyed it, watching the fireworks with her bag of sweets, then going out for a burger, rather than trying to eat one outside in the freezing cold.

Do you have something nice planned for your OH's birthday, not a good start to his day having to put the bins out LOL ;-)

Good morning to you all, Evening Kim

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHAPS"

Nice sunny morning here. I have been on the patio taking bags of Compost through from a delivery on Saturday. They have been sitting in the kitchen, where the delivery man left them. They were fairly light, being potting compost. I will get them down to the greenhouse later.

Ros has made an appointment with the doctor for this afternoon, as she had a couple of nasty turns in the night and when he got up this morning. Her head goes into a spin and she looses her balance, Good job it was in the bedroom as she fell on the bed. I think the pair of us need to be put into a sack and shaken up, and see what comes out. ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-)

The fireworks went on from about 5.30 through to around 8.30 pm. All I can say is That people must have a lot of money to burn. Old grumpy me !!!

Shame about your evening Gill. What idiots those men were trying to start a fire with PETROL. It's a good job they didn't have a "FLASH BACK" They could have ended up in A & E. You wonder why kids get these silly ideas. !!!

So Thomas was going to be nice a cosy if he spent the night in the summer house. YOU do spoil him, DON'T YOU ???

If anyone didn't see "BLUE PLANET" last night, I suggest you watch it on catchup. I was amazed at the sights a mile plus down in the Ocean. Things that you just wouldn't believe. What a wonderful thing is T.V. and SIR DAVID. !!!

I've got breakfast this morning, washed and dried up and made the bed. I will hoover round later, but no dusting it doesn't need it every day !!!! :-P :-P :-P That's my excuse, and I am sticking to it. ;-) ;-) ;-)

I might have a read of my book, unless Ros wants anything doing.

Where is ANNE ???

I wonder if Ros has an inner ear infection as that can make you have dizzy spells. Its sounds like its best she see the doctor as soon as possible. Give her my love please Frank and we are all thinking of her and wishing her better soon. <3 <3

Afternoon all,

<3 Happy Birthday to your OH Mel ,i hope he's enjoying his day .
We went to see son and take his presents on the way back from the hospital as Colin had to have his ears cleaned out ready for his hearing aids to be fitted next week
It's been a really lovely sunny day here after a very frosty start to the day.

Glad you managed to find some where to go to see the fireworks with Sandra in the end Gill ,but what a dangerous thing those men did with the petrol ,they don't sound as if they were very well organised .

Poor Ros Frank having these funny turns ,perhaps it's a bit of vertigo ,is it when she gets up onto her feet she goes dizzy ?
I hope the doctor can help her feel better .
We watched Blue Planet it was so good ,i like the bit at the end where they show you how it's all filmed .

The children loved the fireworks last night ,they got so excited when we told them we had fireworks, they thought it was just sparklers they having .
We weren't out long but we were lucky as just down the road they had some big fireworks that really lit up the sky so we watched the too.

Frank Report 6 Nov 2017 16:28

Thanks for your kind words re:-Ros. She has just left to go to the Dr, She will also mention about her foot, and that she is on a light diet. Mandy, it is when she stands up and starts to walk. I expect the Dr. will look in her ears while she's there. I doubt she will find a brain, as I am always telling her "IF YOU HAD A BRAIN YOU WOULD BE DANGEROUS " LOL LOL.

What has the Birthday boys been up to today ?? I hope they have or will be spoilt.

I have had a lazy day. I spent part of it sitting reading in th conservatory in the sunshine. In fact I had to come in doors as it got too warm.

Ros is having one of her Weight Watchers meals tonight. So I am having a Jacket, HAM AND CHEESE. That will suit me.

It's a beautiful sunset here tonight. There is a plane going through the clouds sending out a stream. It looks great.
Watching Nat Geo. until the news comes on. Then I will be in the conservatory while the soaps are on. I will watch the Harbour later. All about Tenby. Lovely little place.

Have a nice evening all, I doubt I will be back this evening, take care. xxx

Late Arrival here

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE 2 BIRTHDAY BOYS <3 <3 <3.
How does your son feel about hitting the 40 Mandy? :-D I hope both have enjoyed their birthdays today.

Gill how disappointing about the bonfire and the meal. At least Sandra enjoyed all te fireworks and her big Chicken burger :-D :-D. How crazy of those men to be chucking petrol like that. They were so lucky not have gone up in flames.

It does sound like an inner ear infection that Ros has. She will be at the Drs now and hopefully she will find out the problem. I think Gill had the same last year and that was an inner ear infection.

I have had a day of cleaning bits and pieces. I can finally see through the glass on my oven doors :-D. I hadn't realised how bad they were.It was quite a job I can tell you. The racks will go in the bag of solution tomorrow. It says not to use it on glass .As I was scrubbing away I remebered that I found Brillo pads good for getting all the burnt muck off, but I didn't have any so nipped off the the local shop and bought some. Now the glass is sparkling. For how long though ?.

Deboned Chicken with the nice Sunblush Tomato and Parmesan Marinade tonight, plus a big oven tray of cut up Charlottes,Leeks,Carrots and Mushrooms. it is all ready to go in the oven.

I keep trying to get Thomas to go out but he just wanders back to his bed. Sleepy head. I expect he will want out soon though.

Still no Anne? I hope she is ok and not poorly.

Gillx Report 6 Nov 2017 17:17

Hope all goes well at the doctors for Ros and she can find out what the problem is. It does sound like an ear infection, I had to call the doctor out when that happened to me, I just kept falling over so there was no way I could make it to the doctors. The antibiotics soon sorted it out though, so hopefully if it is her ear she'll have some to take and will soon be better. Sandra and I send her get well wishes <3 <3 It sounds like it was a lot warmer by you than here, it's been pretty cold all day even though the sun has been out.

How lovely for the children to see two lots of fireworks last night Mandy, I bet they were thrilled and what a lovely surprise for them when they arrived at yours having their very own fireworks to watch.

No Mel, this afternoon, I wonder if she's taken her OH out for his birthday. Hope the weather was nice for them if she did.

Poor OH he's just got in from his friends to find out that another friends girlfriend has had a funny turn and is in hospital, she is in her 80's and they don't think she's going to make it through the night. OH's going to visit her after his dinner. He said his friend will be in bits as he doesn't have any family of his own and has been looking after his girlfriend for over 8 years. Apparently he's been sitting with her from last night without a break, he must be so shattered and worried.

I've done really well on OH's tree today and found all the records for everyone on one line apart from one girl. I've also made a lovely chicken soup and phoned the people we have an insurance with for our cooker, washing machine and dryer as it's almost a year since we bought them and they are due for a service, they even clean the cooker too, not that it needs doing, but it's all part of the service. I'm just waiting for them to ring me to arrange a day and time, I was told they would ring within the next 5 days. So quite a busy day today.

Gillx

Gillx Report 6 Nov 2017 17:25

Hi Jane, didn't see you there. I haven't seen Brillo Pads for years, I didn't think they were still making them. I remember them being great to start with but then if you used the same one for to long everything went brown including your fingers....yuk They were very good for cleaning though. If I remember correctly they had pink soap in them. It is nice when a big job like that is done isn't it?
So Thomas is a sleepy head now, it's probably all the noise from the fireworks stopping him getting enough sleep, he'll make up for it tonight.

Yes, the man was very silly putting petrol on the fire, at one point it flashed back and set fire to the petrol can, the fella just through it behind him. We left not long after that as we thought it was getting to dangerous.

OH's just got out of the bath so I'm going to sort his dinner then he can get off to the hospital.

I must check on my oven cover that we pay every year and see if it includes a clean. They would have a field day with mine :-D. I have never even thought that the cover might include a clean.
That is good of OH Gill to go to the hospital to visit his friends partner . His friend will be so glad to see him and have a little support at this sad time.

I managed to wake Thomas just now and he has gone out. I hope he just has an hour or so and then comes home before I go to bed.

Brillo pads still have the soap Gill but not as pink as it used to be. I have to wear marigolds when using them to protect my fingers .Even though my fingers are soooo much better I still have a bit of bother with the finger tips.

My Niece has a Mammogram on Thurday as she has found a lump :-(. She is so worried. Janice is going with her.
