Morning all
Sad news, Ruth, OH's friend's girlfriend passed away peacefully at 6.10am this morning. Her son was on his way to the UK to see his mum, his plane landed 20 minutes ago. Her niece is going to tell him when she picks him up from the airport. OH is upset but okay, he rang his friend and offered to go and see him but he wanted to be on his own. OH will ring him again later to check he's alright.

Morning Gill and all,
Such sad news to hear about hubby's friend's girlfriend Gill and her son just an hour too late. I hope the family can cope ok and that your oh is alright.
We have sunshine this morning but there is some big clouds in the sky here and there.
I am sitting here drinking my first COT of the day but I really need to do some housework today. I have sewing things all over the place and I have lost another pair of scissors!
Hope most of you had a comfortable nights sleep tucked up in bed. I slept the moment my head touched the pillow last night. I must have been really tired after all the walking about I did yesterday shopping.

It's sunny here Mel, but very cold.
OH looked after Ruth when she was in the care home he worked in, that's how he met her and her partner, they all became good friends and have known each other for about 2 years. He's concerned for Ruth's boyfriend as he has no family of his own and was devoted to Ruth for 8 years. He's going to ring him again later to make sure he's alright. He did offer to go and see him but he just wanted to be on his own before he saw Ruth's son.
So you've lost another pair of scissors, maybe you'll find them underneath all your sewing stuff. We're not doing much today. To be honest OH isn't really in the mood to do anything. He's just sitting quietly at the moment. He's got a virus too which isn't pleasant for him.

Morning All,
How sad to hear your news Gill and that her son was just too late. Your hubby must be very concerned about his friend as he doesn't seem to have a lot of support, but to keep checking to see he's ok is a good idea as he must feel very low right now.
OH put 3 loads of washing on the line early this morning and his hands were freezing when he came back in. The sun is shining brightly now though. A smallish van turned up at our neighbour whose bungalow is sold this morning and took away some furniture so it looks like it really is sold this time and that they will be moving soon. The bungalow had been up for sale since Christmas.
Oh Mel, not more lost scissors! lol I bet they are amongst your sewing stuff or near it. I still haven't found my stick!! It certainly wasn't in the sock drawer. :-S
We're having one of those cream cheese jackets today followed by a wander round the garden centre and Christmas decs. Then a big shop as the fridge is empty!!
I have just paid my car tax on line and had forgotten it was even due with no disc to see. I have also won a free go on the lottery which is nice!

The first lot of washing I put out you could see the steam rising off of it so by the time the next lot was ready to go on the line oh's BIG t shirt was dry enough to bring in.
Cleaned the bathroom and the fly zapper and I am just having a COC and then I am going to hoover and clean the little loo which only I use.
I shall find the scissor later I hope. Sorry you still hav'nt found your stick Ann. It will turn up when you are looking for something else I expect.
Gill I did wonder if Gynn knew Ruth from his days at the care home. So sad...... <3

O I meant to say Ann. Why don't you put all your socks in one of those wash bags and oh's in another that way yours are together so he won't take yours by mistake.
There is no mistake with our socks as oh takes a size 11 or 12 and I take a 3.

Good morning to you all, evening Kim,
Sorry to hear the news Gill. It will be good if your OH can keep in touch with her partner, and perhaps meet up from time to time. It will be good for him to have a FRIEND !!
Mel, you need to get one of those Spec. cords that hang round your neck to attach your scissor's to. LOL
Well it looks like I am going to be a busy boy when Ros has this operation. She must not lift anything heavier than a kettle half full of water for SIX WEEKS. No hoovering, washing, ironing and worst all all NO DRIVING. The other things I won't mention. So I will have to do shopping on line, and just hope I don't forget anything. She will be bored out of her brain, and just hope her friends call regular to keep her company. She is not one for sitting around or taking ORDERS. LOL LOL. So I am going to have my hands full. !!!
Clear blue sky's and chilly here. She has put a line of sheets and whites on the line, the washing machine is on again, with a coloureds wash. She might let me put that out. I DID SAY MIGHT.
The tablets seem to be helping with her with her balance, she only had two bouts last night.
I have to look for something for her on Google or eBay. So see you later.

OH sees his friend every week so will continue to do that. He's also said to him he'll help with anything he needs. I said to OH before that we should invite him here for Christmas day as it's going to be his first Christmas on his own, we'll wait till nearer the time before asking him as I doubt he'll be thinking that far ahead at the moment.
That was nice having a free lottery ticket Ann, I'll keep my fingers crossed you win something. Hope you find your stick soon, like Mel said you'll probably find it when you're looking for something else.
Does Ros know when her op is Frank? You're right she doesn't like sitting around does she, it does sound like you're going to be very busy, be careful you don't over do things though.

Gill, I wouldn't leave it to long to invite him for Christmas, it's not many weeks now. He might be glad to have an invite, and have something to look forward to.
I am sitting in the conservatory reading my book. It's so hot I have had to pull the blinds down, as it's too hot on my head.
I feel totally out of salts, I have been yarning all morning, and feel like closing my eyes for an hour, but dare I ?? It might interfere with me,staying awake in bed tonight. LOL LOL I wish I could be like most people and just get into bed and sleep. I also have a touch of statutes, (sp) which isn't helping having to run back and forward to the loo, for a DRIBBLE :-P :-P :-P :-D :-D :-D
Ros will have an appointment with the specialist before the operation. It could be as quick as 6 weeks, which will put a stop for us going to Devon for Christmas. I don't know if by putting it off, how long she would have to wait. With the dis-comfort she is getting, the sooner it's done the better. We will just have to see how things go.
I had to look for these fingerling things, for Julia's Grand Daughter for Christmas, also some PARVER SHOES. None of which she liked. Nothing new there, then :-0 :-0 :-0

Afternoon All Oh that is very sad Ruth has passed away just hours before Son could be there. You often hear of this happening when relatives have to fly in from abroad. Her poor partner must be in bits right now and it is so good that OH is going to be keeping in touch with him Gill. I think an invite for Xmas day is a really lovely idea as he will probably be at a really low point then.
Frank, when does Ros have her op? Is it a waiting list ? She is going to have to do as she is told by you LOL. I can see a few spats :-D. It is a shame it is not summer as at least then she would be able to sit out in the garden. She can keep busy though with all her sewing and bead work. Who will you do your on line shopping with? Tesco?
Ann, I wonder who the new people will be moving in to the bungalow. I don't think I have seen a removal van around for ages. Maybe people arent moving much at the moment.
I had a lovely morning with Brenda the lady who will be 80 next week,I met her years ago when I had Dodger and she had a Lurcher called Cray .We went to the little Cafe down in Cranford. It is in the old Forge and they have turned it into a lovely place .Always busy . I had Poached Eggs on Wholegrain Toast and Bacon and Brenda had Mushrooms on Toast. It was delicious. I said we must do it again and she said"oh yes please". Her husband had Cancer of the Oesophagus back in 1999 and had major surgery and eating out now is something they dont do as he often has bad coughing/choking fits when he eats so it made a nice change for her She is darned good for 80 ! Then after I dropped her home I nipped to get ingedrients for some new thing I want to try. The Plumber came and fitted some pipe in the loft for something .He was supposed to be here at 12.30 but turned up at 2.30 . He is such a lovely chap but just never turns up when he says he will. Still jobs done now.Hopefully we won't need to call him out again for a very long time. But knowing this house and water troubles who knows LOL
Chris is going to the cinema tonight in Northampton I don't know what film other than it is one that I do not want to see. He is just having a very late lunch now so his tummy wont be rumbling in the cinema :-D
Oh Mel what is it with scissors!!. You need to have a little hook somewhere where you can just hang them up .
Chris had the Dentist this morning and has a cracked filling :-S.So has an appointment next week to sort that.He is out to lunch tomorrow and Fitz is coming here.No big lunch spread .Just Soup ,bread and Cheese.
I slept much better last night but have a bit of a funny throat .Maybe that is why I felt rubbish yesterday. Fire lit here as I think it is going to be another cold night. I am a bit hot now though :-S

Just had a call from Chris. He is not going to get to the Cinema in time tonight. He is stuck in a jam because of major road closure due to an accident. He has been diverted but has no idea where he is LOL.Who knows how long it will take now for him to get back home. I think I better get a bottle of something ready for him for when he does eventually get home.He will be totally miffed.
I had a good giggle today when I was with Brenda. She wanted coffee and the girl brought the list of drinks. She looked at the coffee menu andsaid she would have a Latte Mocha Cappuccino Americano !!!!!!!!!. The girl said you do realise that is 4 different cups of coffee :-D :-D. Poor Brenda. She went for a Cappuccino in the end.
I found a very pretty sparkly top today in Tesco which I thought would be nice for Xmas. But when I lifted it out of the shopping trolley there was a shower of sparkles .Needless to say I didn't buy it. It was glitter everywhere :-S. That is not going to be a best seller.A shame really as it was a really nice top.

That's a kind gesture to ask OH's friend for Christmas Dinner Gill. He may not want to say anything definite just yet, but at least he will know he's welcome.
As you say Frank, it will be best for Ros to have the operation sooner rather than later if she's in a lot of discomfort. You'd better get the food cupboards and freezer well stocked in the meantime!! Not being able to drive will be a blow, so she'd better get stocked up with materials for her hobbies. :-) At least the garden won't need as much attention with it being winter time.
By the time we'd done the shopping and I'd put it away my knees were complaining this afternoon, so I sat down and paid some bills and did paperwork. All the washing was nicely dry which is good and OH irons it, even better! That's a good idea about the socks Mel, but OH pegs out the socks and would be sure to forget and get them mixed up at that point! I bet Di will be trying to guess what the shoebox holds when you give it to her.....maybe slippers will spring to mind! I always save old shoeboxes and use them. I use one to take my craft and paint things to Cornwall.
These poppies on lamp posts are springing up everywhere around here now!
What a shame Chris will miss the film Jane and worse to be redirected to 'no man's land'. :-S You were stuck in traffic once before going to the cinema weren't you? I found it horrendous last night driving in all the traffic to take something back to a shop. It was pouring with rain and road markings that were poor before were non existent. I looked out of the side window sitting in a line of traffic and just about made out I was waiting in a yellow cross hatched box where you aren't supposed to stop!!! I hope he finds his way back without too much trouble. It was a shame about the glitter top. I won't buy Christmas decs with it on now as it gets everywhere.

Evening all,
How sad to think poor Ruth's son didn't make it to her side before she passed away . It's so good of your OH to be there for him at such a sad time Gill .
Sounds as if your going to have a busy time when Ros goes into hospital Frank ,yes six weeks will be christmas ,it will be a shame if you can't make it to Devon for christmas but i'm sure Ros will want to get the op over and done with if she's uncomfortable .
Oh no Mel not more lost scissors LOL you need a pair of those scissors on a string that you can hang round you neck then you'll know where they are .
It's been a dull old day here today ,no point in hanging any washing out as there was no dry out . Went shopping to Teco's and they had large chickens for half price today £2-25 each so we got three for the freezer .
Poor Chris getting stuck in traffic ,perhaps he could find an earlier showing of the film to go to ,when the traffic is not so bad . I had to smile at your friend Jane trying to order her coffee :-D there are so many different coffee's nowadays it's no wonder she was confused .

I was thinking the same as you Frank about when to ask OH's friend for Christmas he'll be going to see him on Monday as he's very busy at the moment sorting out cancelling everything that Ruth had, so OH will ask him then. I've said to OH if he says no straight away (he doesn't like to impose) then just say the offer is there if you change your mind, then ask him again nearer the time when he's had time to think about it.
He didn't get any sleep today as like I said he's been busy sorting out lots of things and tomorrow he need to register Ruth's death, so we hope he has a decent night's sleep tonight as he hasn't slept in a bed since Saturday night. He's in his 80's and not very well himself so he needs his rest. Ruth's son isn't flying home until Saturday so they'll probably spend some time together. They both went back to the hospital today so her son could say goodbye to his mum. It's so sad he never made it to her in time.
The sparkly top sounds a nightmare Jane, you wouldn't want glitter everywhere and what happens when it's all fell off, you wouldn't have a glitter top left. Good idea to put it back. Maybe you'll find a more suitable one soon, I'm sure the shops will be full of glitter clothes this time of year. It sounds like you had a nice time with your friend. I did laugh when you told us about the coffee she asked for ;-)
So you're going to have new neighbours soon Ann, by the sounds of it. I'm the same as you and keep shoe boxes, they come in handy to store things in and you can label them too so you don't forget what's in them.
Good idea to put Di's present in a shoe box Mel, so she can't work out what it is you've bought her. Have you found your scissors yet?

You said about poppies every where Ann ,in our Cancer shop in town they have a dress in the window that's been made with all knitted poppies , it looks really good .
And talking about glitter ,i bought some christmas wrapping paper in Tesco's one year and the glitter went every where when i took it out of the plastic wrapper ,it made a heck of a mess ,never again i stick to plain christmas paper now .

Chris is home. He said he saw a police tent in the middle of the road. He thinks it was a motorbike versus Lorry accident ,so a tent up does not sound good :-(
Have a google for Plymouth Poppies. Looks amazing. No poppies on lamp posts here. In fact I haven't seen anything much . I have my Poppy. It got stuck in my top and pulled a thread :-S As for glitter I no longer buy Xmas cards or wrapping paper with glitter .It is just too messy. It might look very pretty but the fact it just falls off and gets everywhere just puts me off.I certainly won't be buying another sparkly top LOL
It is only 8 o clock but feels much later.I really would love to go to bed but it is far too early.Thomas is in :-D :-D
Where is our Anne?

That poppy dress sounds nice Mandy. At Lutterworth there are big iron gates covered in crocheted poppies. I must see if I can get a pic. The lamp post poppies are bigger than the buttonhole ones Jane and they are spreading around the local villages. They are all about my height from the ground. We must all remember to send you a big Christmas card covered in GLITTER!!!! lol. :-) :-)......joking of course!! I was just picturing your face if we did and had a chuckle!! I have some sprigs I put in the top of my tree that have glitter on and every year more falls off and gets everywhere. Maybe I should give them a squirt of hairspray this year? I bet that assistant did a double take and thought your friend was pulling her leg over the coffees........look well if she'd brought her all four! It is confusing though, with all the different options. I remember MIL asking me what a Cappucino was.
It sounds like that accident was a nasty one. When I see something like that, suddenly it doesn't matter about being held up, and I'm just glad not to have been involved.
I have felt ready for bed for a couple of hours. I think it's these darker nights and the fact it is really an hour later. lol. :-S

The dress made out of knitted poppies sounds lovely Mandy.
I try to avoid glitter on cards or anything really as it normally comes off and ends up on the end of my nose :-D :-D :-D It's not easy to wipe off either so you end up walking around the shops looking like a Christmas decoration LOL.
I Googled Plymouth Poppies Jane, they look lovely don't they? It doesn't sound good with the police tent up on the road, it sounds like a serious accident has happened.
I've been feeling tired today too, it looks like we're all going to be having an early night tonight. You're right Jane, it does feel later than it actually is, now the nights are drawing in.
