Mel Fairy Godmother Report 8 Nov 2017 22:40

We had a poppy dress in Holsworthy I think it was. It did look great.

That sounds a bad accident Jane if they put a tent up on the road.

I seem to have a spell check on the pc now and I don't know where it came from cos I didn't have one before!!

I think its a lovely gesture to ask Ruth partner to dinner on Christmas day. I hope he takes up Glynn's offer and comes.

Going to bed now, but just to let you know I won't be online tomorrow as we're out all day and then going to the Christmas event at the garden centre and we won't be back until late. I'll see you all again on Friday.

Morning all,

Dull and that fine drizzle here this morning and its very still and errie.

Oh is out doing the filters on the pond I think as I hav'nt seen him yet today since he got up. I had a little lie in. I was so tired last night I must have dropped off the mo my head touched the pillow again. Got up once in the night or early hours for the bathroom and back to bed and asleep again in no time.

Hope Gill and famiy have a lovely day shopping and seeing the Christmas display. Sandra will be in her element. Have lots of fun. :-D

O Frank poor you. We all do these silly things sometimes.

The sun came out for a bit earlier on but its gone again now........

I HAVE JUST FOUND THE SCISSORS I WAS LOOKING FOR.

I have loads of scissors which I use for different things. I still hav'nt found my dress making ones mum bought me with the orange handles but these black handled ones are just as good.

Afternoon All

I hope Gill,Sandra and OH are enjoying the Christmas thingamy today.

Frank,I sometimes mange to delete a post but Chris somehow manages to get it back for me. How he does though I have no idea. It is just so frustrating.

One pair of scissors found then Mel :-D. Still no sign of the first pair. They must be somewhere ,like Ann's stick.

Fitz left about 30 minutes ago and then just after that Chris arrived so they just missed each other. I had the 'pleasant ' job of cutting Fitz's toenails LOL. He offered to pay me £20 !!!!. But I said not to be so daft.He did promise that he had given them a good wash this morning :-D.He then struggled to get his socks on so I helped him with them.
Honestly if anyone had been looking through the window it would have looked very odd.

Chris had a nice lunch out with Sue(friend from work ).She always give him all the news from the surgery. Each time it makes Chris so pleased he retired when he did as it all seems to be so different now and not in a good way. Sue said it all went downhill when Chris left. There is no real leader there now . I know it plays on Chris's mind but as I keep saying it is not his problem now :-D He has been a different person since he retired.

I have been waiting for a phone call from our window people as the big window in our ensuite is jammed on the open latch.I think the spring has gone in the handle and it just won't budge. We had the same thing happen on a window in Hannah room.
If they don't ring me today I shall be back on the phone to them tomorrow .Why is it that it is always down to the customer to keep chasing things up :-S :-S Drives me bonkers.
I had to laugh this morning .The doorbell rang and when I opened the door there was the Postman with a parcel and another man with another parcel. Both together :-) They looked so funny there both holding their parcels out to me.I didn't know which to take first :-)
I have done absolutely nothing today other than make up some weird recipe which I have to wrap in Filo Pastry . It is called Spiced Parsnip and Cashew Strudels. Has loads of leeks in too. I didn't have time before Fitz came to wrap it in the filo pastry. I don't think I have put enough spices in so it may taste a bit bland. But we will see . Just the first attempt. It is a recipe from the Sainsbury magazine.

No cooking tonight other than James's meal. He has Chilli Con Carne Beef Burgers and Sweet Potato Chip things. If I get a bit peckish I might just have a boiled egg. Chris is full from a 3 course lunch.

Jane I have found both pairs of scissors so all is ok now.

I have made a big choc sponge cake this afternoon and have been cooking sheep sh*t pie ever since. Am now very tired.

Hope Frank is ok as he hasn't been back since losing his post.

Morning all,

Grey skies....................................................been raining I think but I hav'nt been out yet.

Went to bed at 11pm last night as I felt rotton and had indigestion. Just got up at 20 to 9. Only got up once in the night for the loo. I must have needed that sleep.....

Gillx Report 10 Nov 2017 10:20

Morning all

Sunny here but very cold and it's windy, needless to say because of the high wind I've woken up with a banging headache again. I really don't like this low pressure weather.

Pleased to see you've found your scissors Mel, maybe you could get a peg board and put in on a stand then you can hang your scissors on it, that way you'll never lose them again when your working. Glad to hear you had a good nights sleep.

Fancy pressing the delete button Frank. Hope you have better luck posting today :-)

So you didn't know which parcel to take first, it must of felt like Christmas had come early Jane. You are a good friend helping Fitz with his toe nails and socks. He'd be stuck without you.

We all had a lovely time out yesterday, Sandra managed to finish her Christmas shopping with her dad so she's pleased about that and I managed to find some jeans, I couldn't believe I was a size 8 and the waist is still a bit big, I'm sure they'll fit better once they've been washed and shrunk a bit. They're so comfy I'm thinking of going back and buying some more today. We've got the insurance fella coming round any time now to valet the cooker (plus a gas check) and also to clean and descale the washing machine and clean the dryer. Not sure how long all that is going to take, but at least the sun is out for when we go out again later. We're going to the outlet village in Ellesmere Port too as we didn't have time to go yesterday. Sandra had a great time at the Christmas event last night, she took her camera and was taking photo's all over the place. She also found a tin of shortbread and chocolate chip biscuits in a tin that said this tin is for dad's stuff all the bit and pieces a dad won't ever get rid of. Or something like that. I spotted it when we were in the queue for the tills and told Sandra she thought it was funny so bought it for her dad for Christmas, she wrapped it up in three carrier bags so he couldn't see what it was and when we got home she wouldn't let him look in the boot until she'd got it out, it's now hidden in a wardrobe until she can wrap it up. OH is going to see his friend on Monday, the one who's just lost his partner, so she'll wrap it up then.

Mum's just turned up, see you all later.

Frank

Frank Report 10 Nov 2017 12:13

Good morning Mel and Gill, and of course the rest of you, Evening Kim.

Never got round to posting again yesterday. Wednesday I went to bed and laid for almost 2 hours. Got up and read my book till after 3.00 am I'm not in the best place at the moment (in my head and body) Very depressed and lethargic. I really need to get myself going.

I was at the doctors yesterday afternoon, she's not happy about the score I had on the question and answers sheet I had to complete. She confirmed that both my hips have arthritis, my right one being the worst. This is one of the reasons I keep tripping up. She is not happy also, with my depression, and is weaning my off the medication I am taking at the moment by reducing the dose by half, then next week to introduce the new medication, week three I will only be on the new medication. So hopefully things will start to improve, I have to ring her next week to let her know how things are.

Poor old Ros, is having to live with my mood swings, which must be getting on her nerves.

Very cold out today, with quite a stiff wind blowing from the North. They say it's getting colder by Sunday/Monday. So nothing to encourage me out of home.

Simon has rung me both Wednesday and yesterday, to see how I am felling, so he's concerned as well, that I am so depressed. He said I must try to get out even if it's just round the block.

My sister had been in hospital again. One of the valves in the bottom of her heart is starting to shut off. Because of her age 84 they aren't prepared to operate, but have put her on more medication, so hopefully that will help.

The Charity Shop were very pleased with all the Christmas decorations. They said they haven't any in stock, and are sure that it will sell very quickly .

Still sitting in my dressing gown, so must get myself in the shower, and get dressed.

See you later.

Frank

Frank Report 10 Nov 2017 14:06

It's all happening here. I eat into the shower and while washing my hair, I closed my eyes to stop the shampoo going into them, Lost my balance and slipped onto the shower floor. Ros was in the lounge with the hair dryer on, so didn't hear my calls. I managed to reach the safety hand grips that we have in there, and pulled myself up. I grabbed a towel, and wrapped myself up, put on my dressing gown gain and flopped in the armchair. I have only just got dressed and had a coffee. So no more "EXERCISE " for me today.

I am going to sit in the conservatory with my book now.

Rump Steak and the trimmings tonight, I will do the chips later.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 10 Nov 2017 15:34

O poor Frank. You should make sure Ros is on call when you go in the shower Frank. We can't have you falling and hurting yourself in there. You really need someone close at hand when you do things like that. I am sure Ros would wait to dry her hair till you come out of the shower.

The sun came out this morning but as Frank said we have had a very cold wind today too. One lot of wahsing out and then I hoovered the kitchen diner and sucked up all the spiders and some in the hall too. Got lunch and now I am just having a sit down.

I am pleased Sandra enjoyed her Christmas display and the shopping she managed to get. That will be a good present for her dad.

Jane Report 10 Nov 2017 17:32

Afternoon everyone.

Yesterday sounded a great success Gill :-D. I bet Sandra was all excited ay buying pressies for her Dad.Now hidden away in the wardrobe :-D :-D

Frank, I hope you didnt hurt yourself when you had the slip on the shower. As Mel said best to just have a shower when you know Ros is at hand and not with her hairdryer hood on.
I think you will have to try and be as patient as possible while you change over from your tablets to the new ones. Maybe this is just the thing that is needed to help you depression. A change in the medication. I do think too that just trying go get out a little more would be good for you.Even a 10 minute stroll each day (obviously depending on the weather) will be good for you. Don't think though that you will be going out tomorrow morning .It looks like we are in for a load of rain tonight and the morning. :-S

James is going to Leicester tomorrow with friends for the Gin Fest. They are going by train (sensibly) as I can't see them being totally sober by the end of the day LOL

Havent heard anything from Hannah today. I assume she arrived safely in Marrakech.

Chicken Tonight (FRench Country style) for us tonight. I have added a load of chopped carrots and Mushrooms so will just do green beans and New Potatoes.

Thomas is in already. He is definitely not going to impressed when he wants to go out at 5.30 am and it is pouring. I am hoping he might just sense it is raining and not bother waking me . I can't really see that happening ,but live in hope :-D

No Ann,Mandy or Anne yesterday !

Evening all,

Brrrr it's cold out there now ,i put my thicker coat on when i walked Max just before dark , he's now curled up on my feet , he loves cuddling my feet ,if i try to move he presses his head down as if to say no your not going any where LOL
I did hang washing out today as there was a lovely blow and i got i all dry too.

Gill it sounds as if you all enjoyed your trip out yesterday , i can just see Sandra snapping away with her camera , i've seen those Tins for Dads stuff ,there's also one for Gardeners too.

Oh dear Frank you must make sure Ros is about and can hear you should you need her ,thank goodness she hadn't gone out ,it really shakes you up when you go down ,i hope your not to bruised .
Sorry your feeling so down and depressed ,i hope the new meds will buck you up when you start them and we soon get our cheeky Frank back ;-) :-D

Are you feeling better today Jane ?
How long is Hannah away for Jane has she gone with Gareth or friends ?
I don't really know what a Gin Fest is LOL

Cor i'm getting a dead leg here now with Max on my feet ,he's snoring away :-D

Frank

Frank Report 10 Nov 2017 19:03

Well, I have been nagged into going to the pub tonight. Ros said it will do me good, and she has offered to drive me there and back. I will put my nose out to see how cold it is, and if not to cold will take my touch, and put my overcoat on, and walk down. The fresh air will do me good, as well as the walk. I haven't been out for two/three weeks, apart from the doctors, and Ros took me then.

James will enjoy the Gin festival. If I was younger I would go with them. I love a G & T with Ice and a slice. When did Hannah go away Jane ?? I see my little friend Thomas is still playing you up. LOL LOL.

Mandy I was just thinking of the chap who slept in the Church Yard. Do you see him anymore. ?? I can't think of his name. !!! I bet Max, like most Labs, love to curl up with their human friends. My old boy, would lie across my feet, with the cat lying between his legs. He wouldn't move in case he disturbed her.

The steak was so big that there was enough for both of us from one steak. At the price it was, I could have fed a family of four, and that wouldn't be to long ago either.

Will folks, I am about to dig out me overcoat and wooly hat, and I mustn't forget my POPPY

Evening All,

Very cold here too and now it's windy and raining. Sorry to hear you don't feel very chipper Frank, but you have a lot on your mind with your sister not well at all and Ros needing an operation now. It's good Simon is keeping in touch though and meeting up with you. Mel is right you need to be careful in the shower. If you close your eyes you need to hold onto one of those handgrips and to try to be sure Ros will be able to hear you shout. It's good the doc is looking at your medication and is concerned about how you are feeling. Maybe she will have some ideas that will help. <3 <3

It's good Sandra enjoyed her shopping and has got a nice present for her dad Gill. I bet she can't wait to be wrapping it up on Monday!

Well done finding both scissors Mel! I have some dressmaking scissors with orange handles as well. Somehow I ended up with 2 pairs, I think they are Wikinson Sword ones. Still no luck with finding my flashstick, but I shall be back sorting more stuff in the bedroom tomorrow so maybe it will turn up when I do that! More bad 'flashstick' luck today as OH's one he keeps all his expenses and stuff to do his tax return with has failed, as the end that pushes in came really loose!!! He's enquired and it would cost a lot to recover the data, and, like me he had no back up saved, so I've ordered more sticks for us both, including ones to back up on.

I met up with the beading buddies today and have started a nice grey sparkly lattice effect necklace with red beads along the edge. It looks quite Christmassy and a friend said it would look nice with a red dress!! :-) The two cats stayed in today and are less bothered by us now. One was sitting looking out of the window a bit wistfully though. lol. I just managed to resist the danish pastries and biscuits as I was going out for lunch after!

After lunch we went to a garden centre we had various money off coupons for and have bought one of those water spinners with snowmen in an alarm clock case. With the coupons is was £8.50 less which was good. On the way there, we saw something else with poppies I haven't seen before. Someone had dotted them all over their evergreen privet hedge! It looked quite effective.

Mandy those large chickens you bought were a very good buy!! Have you seen Nico at all lately? I hope he's not having to sleep outside now the nights are colder. Maybe the relation he stayed with last winter will let him do the same this winter.

The neighbour who is moving soon has emptied out his tubs and pots on the front today and moved them so we think his moving date is imminent. I couldn't help but notice the mirror and other items have gone from the ensuite window on the front too.........not that I am nosey you understand! We've hardly seen either of them this past 12 months as they have been travelling at an ungodly hour every weekday morning to go to their daughter's to look after grandchildren while their daughter works. It is partly the reason they are moving to be nearer to their daughter. To think they thought they were settled for their retirement when they moved in about 8 years ago and had just got everything as they liked it.

I think it will be an early night for me tonight. I am sleeping much better now which is good. There's an Art exhibition on tomorrow in the village that has the 4 barns and brook running through it so I shall pop there I think. OH is off to 2 matches. I think one is near Kettering.

Jane

Jane Report 10 Nov 2017 19:19

Mandy I feel fine now. I think lack of sleep that night and a bit of a funny throat was what made me feel grotty.
A Gin Fest is a festival of various Gin probably all English and Local made Gin. There will be lots of tasters !! at each stall.Hopefully there will be some food there too so soak up excess :-D
Hannah has gone just for 3 nights with 3 of her friends. Gareth will be doing his own thing while she is away.

Oh Max is doing the same thing Chester did LOL . Head on your feet.I would waggle my foot up and down to try and make him move but like Max he would press his head down heavier. They are funny aren't they.
I thought Thomas was in for the night at 5 but he went out again. Thankfully he is now back and WILL NOT be going out again :-) He is just doing that padding thing on his blanket now which means he will settle down.
I must have a look and see whats on telly tonight after Eastenders.Probably nothing much so it might well be an early night with my Kindle.Chris thinks I prefer my Kindle to him LOL .I say no more :-D

Annx

Annx Report 10 Nov 2017 21:06

I didn't know what a Gin Fest was either or that here was one 5 miles away in the city. lol. I imagine they have avoided when City are playing at home!! Is James a Gin fan Jane.......or is he going find out? lol. Hannah must like it hot with some of the places she goes to! It should be interesting though. Are these the girls she went to India with?

I bet Max is pretty heavy on your feet Mandy, but probably still thinks he is a puppy! Does he still try to get on your lap?

Good idea to take a stroll out Frank and to have a chat at the pub. A change of scene might lift your spirits. I think men are lucky being able to pop in a pub on their own like that. I would do it in the daytime when I worked sometimes, but had work I could sit and do before a later visit. It's silly really in this day and age but I know I would feel conspicuous on my own in an evening. I didn't like sitting in a Hotel bar on my own when I was staying away on training courses years ago.

I haven't seen Nicko for a while now ,he's not sleeping in the churchyard ,the last time i saw him he was walking in the town and i was driving in the car ,he looked tidy and didn't have his bag with him so i think he must have some where to stay now.

Now i know what a Gin Fest is :-D i like the smell of Gin but not the taste .

LOL Ann i wouldn't want Max on my lap now he'd flatten me , he likes to get on my chair so i've put covers all on the chairs and sofa ,he gets on the chair and i perch on the edge !!!! :-D mostly he lays on the floor as he gets hot .
