Thanks Ann, I just need to go online to get directions for OH as he's not quite sure where it is and the tiny map they sent only gives directions close by not from where we live.

I'm still smiling at the question the little girl asked about the honeymoon, I would of loved to have heard what the answer to that one would of been to. :-D :-D

Yes, our neighbour was quite noisy this morning, but to be fair it was 9.15am so not that early. It was the first time I'd managed a decent nights sleep and actually slept in for a change, I think I might of slept a bit longer if it hadn't of happened though. At least the sawdust hasn't gone all over our garden and it now lets in a bit more light into our bungalow, so that's a bonus. The people over the back however made a right mess at the bottom of our garden and it took me ages to pick up all the fir tree leaves. Luckily I bought a grabber which came in handy to grab some of the rubbish in the corner where I couldn't quite reach.

Did your OH find some glasses in the end? When you mentioned the scarecrows it reminded me of a village not far from here who did that, my mum took Sandra and I and there were scarecrows in all the gardens, it was brilliant, but then they stopped doing it, which was a shame.

Well, I'd better go and find these directions for OH, see you all tomorrow.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 8 Oct 2018 22:14

We have a scarecrow competition on the same day as the village show. Last year the boys next door won with a whole bale of straw made into Dougal. This year they made a straw deer with their dad and when Ed asked what they were going to put for the slogan George said No idea so they put a blindfold on it and it had a sign round its neck "No eyed Deer". They did'nt win this year though. Shelia our reader did Britania with a flag draped around her and a plastic helmit and a shield, she was good. There was two up the road in a collapsed swiming pool so only the top half of their bodys were on the liner making it look like they were in the water. Next door in the cottage oh sold a couple of year ago it was let to a lady and she did a whole horse in straw and had it labled Buckland Filleigh Pony Club. The lady has now moved out but the straw horse still has its head poking out the stable door. I shall have to go and take a pic.

I watche dthe four year olds and it was great just like last year. I so enjoyed it I wanted to see it this year and oh had gone off to the study so I had peace and quiet with no interuptions.

Morning all,

Hope you all had a good sleep last night or at least better than the night before.

We have wall to wall sunshine this morning and its a beautiful day when I could be doing thing at home and I have to go shopping. Bah humbug...........

Frank

Frank Report 9 Oct 2018 11:53

Good morning Mel, and all,

Nice morning here also, but a little chilly in the breeze. Which I suppose we can expect now.

My dear Ros. is in so much pain with the sciatica in her leg and back. It wakes her when she tries to turn over at night, and she is having more and more trouble walking around the bungalow. The last surgeon she saw said, There is NOT a SURGEON in the Country, who would dare to operate on her back again. If they tried the chances of her being paralysed from the waist down were very high. She is seeing another doctor at the surgery next week, so we hope they can prescribe some stronger medication.

Since her heart attack she has noticed that her feet no longer SWEEL UP. I expect the stents have let the blood flow more easily, and that could help. So something good has come out of it.

Today is my Grandson's 29th Birthday. He is my daughter Sarah's middle son, who as you know I haven't seen for years. I will put out another request on F.B. to see if anybody knows of the whereabouts of my daughter and the children. I have had no luck before, but it's worth another try.

Ros has gone to her nail lady for mid-day. She expects to be there for a couple of hours.

The Lamb steaks were like boot leather last night. These were from Tesco. It's only once in a blue moon, that Ros buys meat from there. We find the best is from Morrison's or Lidle. I often wonder, if supporting a local Butcher would be the best. There is an excellent one in Far Cotton, on the way to Town. Perhaps a little more expensive, but," you get what you pay for"

The Village of HARPOLE have a Guy weekend in the summer, and from what I have heard it's very well supported.

So all the noise has gone Gill. I bet you are so pleased to have peace and quite lol.

I laid awake for hours last night, in the end I came out and watched T.V. Went back at 4.45 and slept until 9.45. I still feel I could do with another couple of hours. My neck and shoulder are playing me up, more and more. I am still waiting for an appointment with the NHS physio. I just can't justify paying out £46.00 for Private treatment that doesn't last for long, before the pain is back.

No breakfast again this morning, so I will have an early lunch.

Have a safe day all, see you later xxxx

Afternoon all

Lovely and sunny here today so we're going to do a bit of weeding in the front garden, we're also going to see if we can concrete down the side of the drive in the hope it'll stop the bigger weeds from growing back.

Poor Sandra has got a headache, I think it's the stress of her assessment she had this morning. It's all over now so hopefully she'll stop worrying and be okay, she's just had a painkiller so that should kick in soon.

Sorry to hear about Ros being in so much pain I hope she can get some stronger painkillers. It's sounds like you had another bad night Frank hope you have a better one tonight. Happy birthday to your grandson, I'll keep my fingers crossed you have contact with him soon.

I loved your description of the scarecrow competition Mel especially the NO EYED DEER that was a brilliant name wasn't it? Shame it didn't win though.

Right, off to sort out these weeds before the bad weather starts, we're suppose to be getting a storm starting tomorrow, hope it's not to bad.

Frank

Frank Report 9 Oct 2018 17:05

Yes Gill, I see you are going to get high winds and storm UP NORTH. You are welcome to it.

There is a good offer in the paper today from Thompson and Morgan. When I went on line to order them they are a higher price, good job I noticed it.

Mel we had a letter through the post this morning from "Pharmacy2U"you can register on Line at pharmacy2u.co.uk/nhs. I will keep the letter in case you would like me to send it to you. I know you have said you have to go a long way to get your scripts. So this could be very useful to you. Let me know how you get on. It might be useful to anyone else, on the thread.

What a beautiful afternoon it is. I am sitting here BARE CHESTED with the sun pouring through the conservatory window. It feels like a summers day <3 <3 <3

One of our old wartime dinners tonight. LIVER AND ONIONS, mashed potato's and garden peas. Mum could get plenty of offal in the war as it wasn't rationed. Another old favourite of mine is STUFFED HEARTS, in a nice thick onion gravy. Ros, won't eat it, so I only have it on the odd occasion. Not forgetting the old STEAK AND KIDNEY PIE or PUDDING. Lovely grub. ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-)

I see, she has an hour of Emmerdale tonight. So I will have to record her East Enders. She can watch that when I go to bed. :-| :-| :-| I will watch Alan Titchmarsh at 8.00 pm and the police programme at 9.00 pm. Then off to BED.

Jane Report 9 Oct 2018 17:28

Afternoon All

I hope Sandra has managed to get rid of her headache now Gill. How long does her assessment take? Is it a yearly thing?

Frank, good luck in tracking down your daughter .Maybe with help from Mel and others you will find her. Would it be any good searching for the Grandson? . He may well be on F B .It is such a shame that you have lost touch. Does Simon not have any ideas?
Poor Ros and that dreadful pain.My friend in Cornwall sounds as though she has a similar problem to Ros and there is nothing else that can be done . I know how much pain she is in for most of the time and it can be unbearable.

I love the sound of all these Scarcrows. Mel you must try and get a pic of the Horses head :-D. A lot of hard work goes into these wonderful English Traditions.

The man has been to fix the Halogen ring on my cooker. It needed a new regulator . The only thing now is that he can't get any new knobs as they are obsolete :-S :-S
So I am thinking I have had this cooker for longer than I thought. He said there are only a couple of parts now for his model. So I am thinking the January sales are not too far off and it might be time to look for a new one.

Just done Thomas's flea treatment. I have left it too late though as I know he has been scratching at his ears for a while and I found a flea on my bed :-S :-S. It was a devil to catch. Touch wood O haven't bit bitten. I will go and strip the bed in moment.
He should have had the flea stuff 2 months ago and I just kept forgetting. Slapped wrists for me :-S

It is so warm and sunny. The house was feelng very hot just now and the heating had come on and someone had the thermostat up... Chris??? Tomorrow is even warmer so I have got out a sleeveless top ready for going ot Physo as I get far too hot in there.
I shall make this my last appointment and will just carry on with the excercises .It is £44 a half hour session. I can always refer myself again if the achilles tendon doesn't improve any more or gets worse. I still havent had the appointment through for the NHS Physio !!! Maybe I have been lost in the system.
When I went to have my blood taken this morning (I remembered not to eat after midnight :-D ) the Nurse kept calling me Sweetie and Sweetie Pie !!!!! God I hate that .
I think it s the first Sweetie Pie for me.

Frank I love the video you sent :-D :-D. The little girl hugging the Owl !!! I wouldn't have thought an Owl would let anyone do that.

Jane

Jane Report 9 Oct 2018 18:15

You got your post in just before me Frank. If we lived nearer you Chris would be heading to yours for Liver ,Onions and Mash. He never gets Liver here. The only time he will have Liver is if it is on the menu when we go out.

Have any of you got lots of Ladybirds? We have. I see there are places that have hundreds . I can see 5 on one window.

Gillx

Gillx Report 9 Oct 2018 18:26

I mentioned Pharmacy2U the other day Frank, did you not see my post. It looked like a good service and free as well.

So you forgot all about poor Thomas Jane, he'll be glad to stop itching now he's had his treatment. Hope you don't get any bites off them. I think there maybe some sales on at the moment, it might be worth having a look around, then you'll have a nice new cooker in time for Christmas.

Sandra's assessment is because she is claiming PIP and it's a new claim. They said it will take 4 to 6 weeks before we hear the decision, so still a bit more time to go yet.
Her headache has gone now after she had a sleep.

Just finished in the garden for today, we didn't get the concreting done so I'll do it tomorrow if it's not to windy. We have prepared it all though and got rid of all the weeds in the front garden, so a good day all round.

OH has just had a laugh at my expense. He was putting the car back on the drive and didn't notice me going around to the front door to finish off he weeding. Our bungalow sticks out where the drive is so you can't see the front door when you get out of the car, we also use the back door not the front, so he got out of the car and went around the back closing the side gate (which is on a lock) behind him. I didn't have a key to get in so I had to ring on the doorbell thinking he'd gone inside so he could let me in. Luckily Sandra heard the bell as OH was still outside and told him there was someone at the door. When he realised what he'd done he couldn't stop laughing. I must admit it was funny. I must remember to keep a key on me from now on though.

Going to dish up dinner now then settle down for the evening.

Annx

Annx Report 9 Oct 2018 18:38

Evening All,

Sciatic pain is horrible with those pinching spasms that stop you in your tracks. Has Ros tried those heat patches you stick on Frank? I wasn't sure they would work very well for me when Jane told me about them, but they work a treat and you can wear them all day. Between you you aren't getting much sleep just now so must feel exhausted. I think you are right about Ros's feet not swelling now. Her circulation would be better since the stents were put in so that's a good thing.

These scarecrows are getting everywhere then! I like the 'no eyed deer' and the idea of a scarehorse Mel! Yes, get a pic if you can.

I expect Sandra's headache was to do with going for the interview Gill. Still, it is done now which is good. OH wants me to come with him to look at glasses and I can't walk round many shops at once without paying for it with my knees, so we will look again later in the week. I think Boots have the most that he likes. Those grabbers are handy in the garden aren't they. I got one a few years ago to save my back bending so much when the prunings dropped on the borders.

I went to try to get some Squirrel photos at a churchyard where I saw them a couple of years ago. I spotted one or two so stopped, but as soon as they saw me they scarpered into the garden next door! I hung about and took pics of the horse chestnuts and conkers but they never came back. I didn't hang about as there seemed to be a lot of wasps about and you know how I feel about those! It's been lovely and sunny here so I got a load of washing all dried and there's more to go out tomorrow.

I wonder how Jane's jacket hunt is going?

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 9 Oct 2018 18:58

All done for another week. The fridge is stuffed and there's not an inch of room for anything else. Troublw is oh has two bottles of cider in there and a bottle of tonic water so I took that out. He only has a drop in one of the cider bottles so that will go tonight and I shall finish off a bottle of milk and then it will be ok.

Its been a wonderful day today here and I went out without a coat on for a change.
Tomorrow is supposed to be the same here so I wonder if they have it right but will have to wait till tomorrow to find out.

Got a couple more pressies today. I found a lovely book in Lidl for little Sam next door for his birthday in November. Its all about things you can make with boxes. He loves making things with cardboard and paper and I save him all the rolls from the kitchen roll and loo rolls and small boxes and bits of that new expanded foam stuff that comes in packaging now instead of polystyrene. Also I found them both a kit to make a castle with ghosts and one for george to make a dragon. They were only £1.99 each. The book was £4 but on the back the price was £12.99. The other one they had was for things to make for outdoors and I nearly bought it for George but there were things in it that I did'nt think were suitable like lime slaking sort of and something to do with making rocks. Not suitable for the ages of the boys at all.

You've been busy again Gill. I am glad Sandra's headache has now gone and expect you were right in saying it was to do with her assesment she had to go to. What is PIP?

Gillx

Gillx Report 9 Oct 2018 19:48

What a shame you didn't get the squirrel photo's Ann, maybe you'll be more lucky next time. I was sitting outside this morning having a cuppa and a young squirrel came into the garden, she stood up on her hind legs and looked at me, because I kept still she just carried on running across the garden when she realised I wasn't a threat to her. It's nice to see squirrels in the garden again. I still wonder what happened to Rosie and miss her so much. I put some nuts down on the grass at the bottom of the garden but they didn't get eaten.

Yes, I think Sandra was just stressed which caused her headache, she's okay now so that's good. Although she is starting to worry how she's going to pay for Christmas presents. I told her, her dad and I would help but it didn't stop her worrying. I hope they make their decision sooner rather than later and she doesn't get to stressed in the meantime.

(PIP) is "Personal Independence Payment" Mel and it replaces her Disability Living Allowance (DLA) but she has to put in a new claim as it doesn't change over automatically from one to the other.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 9 Oct 2018 21:19

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 9 Oct 2018 21:50

O Gill how silly is that. I hope it works out the same as she had before. They must know Christmas is coming up. Fancy doing it now and she can't be the only one in this situation, bless her.

Gillx

Gillx Report 9 Oct 2018 22:27

I bet you're pleased there is a hog in your garden Mel, I know how worried you've been about them. Have you still got your camera set up so you can watch them?
We saw one in our garden a while back but that's the only one we've seen this year. Last year there were loads around.

Yes, it is very stressful for Sandra but I think, after me explaining it again, she'll eventually be okay with it. She's not that happy about it at the moment as she sees it as us paying for our own presents, but at least she can still do her shopping and you never know they may still give her the PIP and she'll then feel better. All we can do is wait and see what they say.

Morning all,

The suns in and out at the moment and it is really quite windy today. A good day to get some washing on the line but I hav'nt got it in the machine yet!!

Housework on the cards for today and I really must cut oh's hair if I can get him to sit still long enough. He hates it when its long and he hates sitting while I fiddle with it as he puts it. His beard is getting quite long now. I still think I shall buy him some beard jewelry for Christmas some like the vikings wore. His beard is only on his chin and he has a moutache too but thats not long.

Gillx

Gillx Report 10 Oct 2018 10:47

Morning Mel, morning all

Sunny here today so I'm going to finish the concreting on the drive. We prepared it yesterday so it shouldn't take me long to finish it off. OH is at his mates so the car isn't down the drive which will make my job a lot quicker and easier.

I had a good nights sleep last night and feel much better for it.

I've never heard of beard jewellery Mel, I'll have to Google it.

Washing machine's just finished so I'm going to peg it all out now, it's suppose to be 22 degrees later today so it should dry. See you all later.

Frank

Frank Report 10 Oct 2018 12:29

Good morning Mel,Gill and all,

I am pleased you enjoyed the video I sent yesterday, lovely wasn't it.

We have wall to wall sunshine also today, I think it changes again at the weekend.

No luck with Simon knowing where she is. He and her and his Mother fell out over something and have nothing to do with them now. FAMILY You wonder why we have them :-S :-S :-S

I have bought loads of those heat pads, they don't seem to give her any relief from the constant pain.

I watched that police with Camera's last night. Some of the sentences handed down by the courts, are beyond belief. No wonder there is so much crime around. :-0 :-0 :-0

Yesterday I put a bit on FB wishing him a Happy Birthday, and if anyone knows him, to pass it on. I can only do so much, as I have no idea if the grand children are married, or where they might be living.

Ros has struggled to get showered this morning and washing her hair. I can hear the Dryer going in the bedroom, so the rollers must be in.

She's got an ordeal tomorrow, She has to be at Kettering Hospital by 1.00 pm then after an half hour with the doctor. goes in for the MRI and is expected to be in there for 45 minutes. I can see that doing her back no good at all, lying on a flat board for all that time. She will be in agony.

I have prepared a chicken for tonight, all stuffed and in the dish. Roast Parsnips and potato's, Brussels, Runners, cabbage, carrots and peas, I know before I even cook it, Ros won't be eating too much, she's right off her food lately.

We are still mulling over whether to have an induction hob. Harvey has a contact who works for one of the manufactures and can save a LOT on the retail price.

See you later xxx
