Jane Report 13 Oct 2018 18:33

Evening All
Frank I was awake when you posted just after 2am. I can read posts on my phone but juat cant add posts otherwise I would have said hello :-D. Then at 3 Thomas was creating merry hell wanting to go out . So I had quite a disturbed night too.

You were late to bed Mel !!! There are lots of little birds hanging on to branches in this wind. hey must have a very strong grip !.

Ann ,that was a good idea to wear your long shorts to your beading workshop. I have been so hot today but havent been feeling great either .I kept coming out in a sweat. So havent done much today other than a visit to Tesco. I actually had to have a sit down on a chair by the pharmacy as I felt so wobbly.

Gill that is strange if your controls are picking up a signal from somewhere and switching on and off like that. Maybe as was suggested if you move it to a different positon it might solve the problem.
It must have been a bit miserable in the marquee with all the wind and wet ground. At least Sandra enjoyed seeing the Xmas decs and lights in the garden centre ,and getting her books and bits and bobs in the charity shop.

We have had the chap from Homeserve to see about this noisy toilet. He says it is definitely due to water pressure but is not able ot fix it. I think we might seriously think about getting a new loo with different fittings in the cistern. The man who came was the one who had ot take this toilet out a year or so ago,and as soon as he got here he remembered our very heavy loo and was praying he didnt have to do that again :-D

I think Ann might be right about Ros and her stiff neck and shouders Frank. It may well have been to do with lying in the scanner for so long in that one position. I hope it is beginning to feel a bit easier now.

So Ann you have been looking up good Knee Surgeons :-D :-D. Fingers crossed you won't need his services just yet. My poor Sister is just one of the unfortunate ones where there are complications and it is just to do with the way all her muscles heal so quickly . As you know she is having the same problem as she had with her other knee.
She only has 40% bend and it was 90% when she came out of hospital . The aim is to get it back to 90% after the manipulation. But it means she will have to have physio 3 times a week plus hydrotherapy :-S

It is looking like we have some big dark clouds on the way now. I think it is forecast rain tomorrow .We have had to suffer ALL DAY the acrid stench of next doors bonfire :-S. It has been dreadful.I wish I knew what they were burning .It is just obnoxious and we have had to keep all the windows shut. The wind was blowing it all our way. :-S It made me feel quite ill really.
Strictly is on soon which I do like .I am just doing fish and chips tonight so just a matter of putting it all in the oven . Birds Eye peas to go with it . I just hope I have peas in the freezer !
Pushing the boat out tomorrow and doing a proper Roast . I haven't done a full roast for ages. It's Beef which is now defrosting :-D

Mandy I think we have had the best of the weather this side of the country . How lucky have we been(even with the wind). So warm too which is amazing for this time of the year. Big drop tomorrow though I think. Does Max like this strong wind? I know it makes some dogs go a bit daft :-D. My lovely old Chester used to love it and he would go tearing around the garden ,ears flapping :-D and chasing through all the fallen leaves at this time of year. He was like a little child LOL Splashing through puddles too :-S

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 13 Oct 2018 19:23

We have been lucky with the weather this way Jane ,it does seem strange sitting out and watching all the leaves come off the trees usually it's cold and we're inside watching them fall.

Yes Max likes the wind he goes round the garden like a crazy thing and them he just flops down and lays there watching the leaves blow past his nose lol
At the moment he's standing here in front of me pushing his head on my leg ,he does that when he wants a cuddle , he comes up onto my chair and puts his head on my leg and i end up sitting on the edge :-D

Annx Report 13 Oct 2018 21:36

Max sounds like a lovely old softie Mandy. He knows how do get what he wants doesn't he and who could resist him. You have had it even warmer than us so it must have been nice to sit outside.

Poor Janice has really suffered, so I hope with them knowing what happened with her other knee they will be able to prevent this one being so bad. I hate it when you are out and feel wobbly like that. The heat in the shops doesn't help either.

I hope you have better sleep tonight Frank. I was awake at the time you posted too! You are doing some catching up with your rellies lately and filling up your diary. I bet you are looking forward to seeing how they have changed over the years.

Sandra must have loved her trip out today Gill, especially as she found some nice books at the charity shops and things for her card making.. OH always has a look at the books and has had some good finds at times. Fancy your heating playing up like that. I hope you don't have any more trouble with it. It's good the car turned out to be an easy thing to fix so fingers crossed it will be ok now..I bet the stall holders in the marquee were quite worried with the wind blowing so much.

That poor tiny bird Mel, clinging on for dear life! I often wonder how they fly in the wind and whether the buffeting about makes them feel travel sick! I see you are managing to get on with your craft again. It's nice when you can spend a few hours making things.

My shoulders feel achey now after today, so I'm off to bed now.

Craft all stopped as I can't find my glue. I rememebr putting it somewhere and thinking I will never find it there . why so we do these things?I shall have to resarect my book on where things are.

I am so pleased Sandra had a good day today and found some books and bits in the charity shop. Also she must have enjoyed the Christmas things in the garden center.

Gillx Report 14 Oct 2018 11:17

Morning all

Dull here but it's suppose to be brightening up this afternoon and next weeks weather looks much brighter. Although it's dull it's very warm and my bulbs I planted have started to pop their heads above the soil, they weren't suppose to do that until next spring.....I wonder what will happen and if I'll end up with some flowers or not this year. I've been told if it goes cold they'll stay as they are until the warmer weather arrives in the spring, then carry on growing, so hopefully they'll flower at the right time.

Sorry to hear about Janice Jane, I hope things turn out okay for her in the end. I found a lovely wedding day card at the craft fair yesterday so that's been put to one side ready for Hannah and Gareth. How are you feeling today, do you think it was the warm weather that made you feel a bit wobbly or maybe the fire next door?

How are your shoulders today Ann, hope they're not so sore today? Yes Sandra really enjoyed her trip out yesterday. She mentioned the film Frozen the other day and how she hadn't seen it. I noticed it on the TV yesterday so recorded it for her. No doubt she'll watch it this afternoon.

Have you found your glue yet Mel. Writing where everything is in a book is a good idea, so long as you don't mis-place the book LOL ;-) ;-)

It sounds like Max was having a great time running around Mandy. I smiled when you said he lay down and watched the leaves blowing in front of his face. He sounds quite a character.......bless him.

How did you sleep last night Frank? I hope you managed to get a good night or you'll be exhausted. How is Ros now?

I've been sorting out the spare bedroom this morning. I noticed a bit of damp behind the bed so I've pulled the bed out and wiped the damp down, then I noticed the skirting board needed painting, so I sanded that down and painted it. I've decided to insulate that wall. We don't have cavity wall insulation, it's an old bungalow with just a thin outside wall, so with it being warm inside against the cold outside wall we have damp and mould problems. We had the same problem in the back room and I insulted it and the problem went, so hopefully doing the same in the front bedroom will solve the problem. Once the insulation is in place I should be able to wallpaper that wall. I have the wallpaper so I just need to buy the insulation then I can get on with that job.

There's nothing I can do though until the paint dries which takes up to 12 hours as it's a damp sealant paint, so I'm going to have a relaxing day for a change. I've been running about here and there all week so it'll be nice to have a day off.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 14 Oct 2018 11:54

Morning Gill and all,

Much brighter here today and NO wind whioch is a change.

No I hav'nt found my glue but I have a huge new tube so I suppose I shall have to open that.

I have just done about 10 sneezes and my eyes are running now.

Gill it sounds to me like you are finding things to do again. Enjoy your day off now and put things on hold for a while.

Gillx

Gillx Report 14 Oct 2018 12:03

I bet you'll find the other glue once you've opened the new one Mel......that's always the case isn't it. All those sneezes, hope you're not coming down with a cold.

Yes, I'm looking for things to do, but to be honest I wanted to decorate that room when I did the other two at the beginning of the year but never got around to it, so now is as good a time as any to get on with it. I'd of probably left it until next year if I hadn't of had to move the furniture away from the wall and paint the skirting board. So while the wall is free of everything I might as well do it now, save moving everything out of the way again.

Pleased to see you don't have the windy weather now Mel. I've just checked our weather and it's suppose to be dry and sunny next week. I've just been outside and it's gone really cold now after a warm start to the day, but at least the rain has stopped now and it's suppose to brighten up this afternoon, so with a bit of luck it should warm up again.

Jane Report 14 Oct 2018 12:56

Afternoon All
Well there is no going out today as it has been pouring all day so far. It does seem ot be easing off now though and the strong winds have finally gone. It's just a miserable old Sunday.

You don't hang about Gill do you when you find something needs sorting :-D. Hopefully you will be able to sort the bit of damp problem. Will you have this afternoon watching TV? Bulbs are funny plants .I suppose they think it is time to grow as it has been so warm. Everything this year seems to be all a bit topsy turvy with plants in the garden.
That is nice of you to have bought a card for H&G. I have one I bought somehere when we were away. I bought it even before I knew they would be getting married . Maybe it was wishfull thinking :-D

I bet that glue will turn up Mel as soon as you open the new tube :-D That would be the kind of thing to happen to me.

I feel much different today. I am pretty sure yesterdays wobble and just not feeling right is something to do with my immune system after the virus and this morning I have a horrible itchy red patch on the side of my face(just where the arm of my specs goes. I thought at first it was a bite but Chris says it is Psoriasis :-S :-S

The house smells wonderful as I have just cooked the joint of Topside. Thomas must have smelled it as he came in all wet and sat beside the oven miaowing :-D. I cut a little strip off the end of the joint for him so he is happy now and has gone back out .I thought he was brave in the rain but he went straight into the Summerhouse.
The lights have been on all day but it is definitely brightening up a bit now. Not quite enough though to turn the lights off just yet.
I dont know what time James will be home from Jess but I do know he will look forward to a nice roast dinner tonight They went to some do at Kew Gardens last night.I have no idea what it was ,only that they had tickets for it. Kew Gardens is one place I have never been but would love to go to.

I must get cracking and see if I can book a lunch somewhere nice for Chris and me the week before Xmas. It is just the 2 of us on Xmas day (for the first time ever) so I thought it would be nice to have a special meal out . No doubt everywhere will be booked up but I will give it a go. I quite fancy the Pheasant at Keyston (you know where Frank)

My washing machine has just played its little tune so the bedding is ready to come out and go in the Tumble D.

Frank Report 14 Oct 2018 13:14

Afternoon to you all,

Was in bed by 9.30 last night and went off very quickly. I woke at 4,00 for you know what and slept again until 7.30. Ros came out around 9,00, but she does sit up late watching her Jewellery programmes.

Her neck is a lot better this morning, so it could well have been a draft in the scanner. Would you believe, that since the scan she hasn't had any siattic pain in her back and leg. Can't think of any reason for that.

So you have been feeling off colour Jane I bet that bonfire isn't helping. Isn't there a LAW about no lighting bonfires before dusk in the evenings. ?? It would be worth checking the local by-laws. I see our Thomas is still being a pain in the backside, wanting to go out at these redicious hours. I still think you should MAKE HIM use a cat flap. Poor old Janice, is there any light at the end of the tunnel ???

I see the weather has played havoc around the Country. Poor people being flooded out of their homes. We are so lucky where we are, none of these terrible incidents for us. We have had the rain all night and this morning, but it certainly isn't cold, and it looks like the rain has stopped.

How old is your bungalow Gill. It's most unusual not to have cavity walls. No wonder you get damp coming through the walls.

Conrad and Jan flew back to Spain first thing this morning, I think it was 6.00am. I bet they are having a rest his afternoon.

Nice to hear Max is still enjoying the windy days and loving his cuddles. I think most pets do. xxx

I have got dinner already for this evening, roast loin of pork. Washing up all done and bed made. Perhaps I can have a little ME TIME now. and read the paper.

Have you found your GLUE yet Auntie Mel. ???

Be good, I will see you later.

No I have not foudn the glue but I am going to look in one more place before I open the new one.

Jane it is going to be a funny old Christmas for you all on your ownsome just the two of you.

Suns out here and oh is out on the mower, o it has just stopped so maybe he will be coming in.

Good to know you had a better night last night Frank and that Ros's back and shoulder are better today.

Had our big breakfast and I have washed up and the mower has started again so while I am on my own I am going to do some craft.

FOUND IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was in the spare bedroom under Jane's card which I have just put in a padded envelope. Hooray............

Jane Report 14 Oct 2018 16:59

It will be odd Mel,but I think James and Jess will not be down at her family for long! ,also I am hoping that Janice and Larry may be able to come to us on Boxing day.

So the glue turned up then :-D...Lt me know when you send the card Mel. Is it small enough to go through the letter box safely without having to be squeezed through? If you think it might be too big you could write on the outside for postie to hand it to us.

Frank I am glad Ros's neck is better now. That will be a relief for her. Thomas knows how to use a cat flap but we just dont have one in the back door. He does use the one in the Summerhouse. It is my fault for allowing myself to get in the habit of getting up to let him out :-S . I know when I am away for the night for Hannahs Hen do Chris won't be getting up like me :-D.
I think the bedding is dry now so I had best get the bed remade otherwise I shall forget . Roast Potaoes Parsnips and Carrots are all in roasting now. James is back so I shall try and get dinner over and down with early so I can sit and watch strictly results .

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 14 Oct 2018 18:06

No Jane its not small enough to go though the letter box and I shall have to put PLEASE DO NOT BEND on the front and back. I shall let you know when I have posted it and I need to have a word with you when you get it about the fastening on the envelope.

I am just going to download my camera and see how the pics came out of the neck purse and the brooch I have just made.

Evening all,

It's been a dreary old day here with steady rain ,it has tried brightened up at times but then it sees to rain harder ,we've had the light on most of the day as it's been so dark.

Glad the glue has turned up Mel it's so annoying when you know you have some and you've stashed it away some where safe but you don't remember where .

Sounds as if you had a much better night Frank ,it's good Ros's pain is easing now .
So your busy busy again Gill ,you soon find things to do :-) the damp does need sorting as with the colder weather it isn't going to get better only worse .

Yes it will feel strange with just the two of you at Christmas Jane ,i should think if you try this week to book some where you would be able to get in .

We've just had our roast chicken and we're both stuffed .

Gillx

Gillx Report 14 Oct 2018 19:11

Our bungalow was built around 1929 or 1930 Frank, long before Cavity Wall Insulation, so yes lots of damp and mould all the time. We have a dehumidifier in the spare bedroom as that seems to be the worse room and we've got used to having to clean everywhere and re-paint when necessary. A bit of a pain though, so I said to OH if ever we move I'd like a more modern place with lots of insulation in the walls. It'll probably be warmer to as our place is very cold most of the time. It warms up when the heating is on but goes cold again within half an hour of turning the heating off. We can't afford to have the heating on all the time so it's not ideal sitting in a cold property. When mum came around the other day she said it was warmer outside than in our place. She has cavity wall insulation so isn't used to living in a cold property.

Sandra's just finished watching Frozen and thoroughly enjoyed it. I must admit I quite liked it myself, it was a really funny film.

Going to make something to eat for us all now before the results of strictly.

Gillx

Gillx Report 14 Oct 2018 20:53

Love the pics Mel, how do you sew the beads on like that, it's very pretty? So you found the glue in the end, that'll save you having to open the other one now.

Sorry to hear you have Psoriasis Jane, I didn't know what it was so Googled it, it looks very painful, is there something you can take, or a cream you can use to get rid of it? Hope it clears soon. Yes, I found a lovely card for H and G I'll address it to Hannah at your address nearer the time, could you pass it on for me please?

Yes, I was thinking with the cold weather the mould and damp would get worse Mandy, we're going to buy the insulation at B&Q in the morning, if they have it in stock so I can get on with it, the sooner it's done the quicker the mould will stop and I can then wallpaper the wall.

Going to settle down and watch The Cry in a minute, then Big Brother with Sandra. We've just watched Strictly. Sandra did want to watch another programme off the planner but then remembered The Cry was on. Is anyone else watching that programme? It's a strange one, it now looks like they have done something with their son and are trying to blame his ex-wife for his disappearance, at least I think that's what's happening. It's a bit confusing at the moment, but I'm sure it'll make more sense soon.

Annx

Annx Report 14 Oct 2018 21:31

Evening All,

What a chilly day with lashings of rain after such a warm day yesterday.

Well done finding the glue Mel. Was it in that last place you thought of? The brooch is very pretty and the beads on the edge just set it off. The little purse is sweet too. Your stitches are so neat.

I bet Ros is pleased her neck is easier Frank. I wonder if lying in that position in the scanner a long time allowed her back joints to ease into position better so they didn't pinch the sciatic nerve? It'd good it's better anyway whatever did it.

Gill, you are a busy bee, like a little whirlwind getting on with all your jobs. While I'm thinking of getting something done, you do 6 jobs! lol. :-) I wish I didn't procrastinate so much these days. Having had a new place I don't think I would like an old place again either, although in general I think the older places have far more character.. We only paid £723 for gas and electric for the last year (they send us a notification now). We usually switch the central heating off after 15 minutes as gets too hot and the gas fire has hardly ever been switched on. Modern insulation means you don't lose much heat overnight either. It was still 22 degrees inside first thing this morning with no heat on. It was a revelation to me when we moved here that it could be both warmer and cheaper. Mind you, new places come with higher council tax and also water meters these days which can be expensive for watering the garden. They make us pay one way or another don't they.;-) :-S

Jane how strange it will seem after having a house full at Christmas. I like the idea of going out and have done a few times in the past. Someone recommended a place near here they went to last year but I'm blowed if I can remember it. I hate a lot of noise though, but I think OH hates the idea of no leftovers the next day more! lol.

OH is off to Oakham tomorrow and I would have gone with him to potter round the shops while he goes to his meeting, but no chance as I think I must have overdone the knee exercises last night! I think we may pop out for breakfast instead as he will be out at lunchtime.
