Evening all,

Goodness Frank what a long wait you both had yesterday at the hospital ,i hope Ros is feeling a little better today and now you have trouble with your heating i hope it's nothing to serious and you can get it sorted out with out to much expense .

Oh Gill what a day your having i'm so sorry ,has this been going on since OH lost his brother ? maybe it's affected him more than he realised and he's getting depressed ,it must be so hard for you having to put up with his moods.
You let off all the steam you like that's what we're all for to help each other .
What a shame there's nowhere you can go to get you out of the house for a while ,is there no one you could just go to to have a cup of tea with ?

We went food shopping this morning and i also bought a few bits for christmas ,i really need to get a box to store them away so we're not tempted , we also bought a fire engine for Lewis ,it makes all the sounds and also has a little torch with it ,i can see he'll be shining that in every ones eyes .
I bought the stuff i need to make the chutney with the green tomatoes and i need to get a Marrow when o go for the fruit and veg at the week end as i think i'll make some Piccalilli .

Gill don't you have a park near you? You could go there and see the wildlife and collect leaves for her to press to put on her cards. Even leaves from the garden are nice to press and you said you have acers.

We once had a gardener who had a special needs child and he had someone come and take him out for lunch now and then. That was to do with social services I think.

Annx Report 17 Oct 2018 20:38

Evening All,

What a day you had Frank with all that waiting around at the hospital. I wonder how much longer you would have sat there if you'd stayed. Did you get to find out what was wrong with Ros in the end? Then her having a night of pain as well......she must be worn out. Hopefully she is feeling a bit better by now.

Oh dear Gill, it does sound like your OH isn't himself just now. It wouldn't be surprising if he was suffering from depression if he hasn't got over losing his dad and is is still grieving the loss of his brother which was only a short while ago. If so, going from hero to zero like that is to be expected, also a poor memory. If he is depressed, his mind won't be calm and he will be snappy if he doesn't want to be bothered with anything. It's a shame he won't see the doctor, but some men don't like to admit there's anything wrong as you say. I hope he soon sees that he must try something though if things are to improve for all of you. I tend to agree with Frank about a job might help him. I was quite shocked you have been out so little too. It's a shame if there are no support groups or activities nearby that you and Sandra could join.

The weather's been a bit better today, so after lunch OH took me to a garden centre to look around and then for a little drive to a posh area with big houses and some trees so I could take a few photos. Some of the houses were beautiful. One looked like a Hansel and Gretel house, all painted cream with varnished wooden window boxes at every window. I often wonder who lives in these houses.

Jane, the jacket looks perfect, easy to throw on or off and not too hot to wear. I hope you can get it lined for you. I was happy to lose the 'ironing' too.

The Fire Engine sounds great for Lewis Mandy. I've lost track of how old he is now, but I bet the torch will soon need new batteries! lol. I have started a box for the Christmas goodies too..........keeps them out of sight and hopefully out of mind!

You sound as if you've been very busy and got a lot done Mel! I know what you mean about it not looking like it though.

I finished the little star, except for the loop to hang it with, and will send a pic (except to Jane and Frank as they will see it on FB). I'm wanting to start another now. :-)

There was a right old bumping and banging going on nextdoor this morning. They have had a new front door fitted. There are some good designs nowadays and it looks nice. We could do with a different one really, as ours is the original and has too much glass.........maybe next year.

OH is wanting us to watch a recording now so will be back tomorrow.

Gillx Report 17 Oct 2018 22:29

I've said OH may be depressed but he says he isn't, I've suggested he goes to the doctors as this has been going on for almost 6 years now, but again he says no. He has terrible mood swings and shouts at Sandra and I all the time, he refuses to help around the place making a mess after I've tidied up, it's lots of little things all the time and it's getting really hard to live with now. I end up doing most of the DIY and gardening and also the house work. He goes out most days to his mates and leaves Sandra and I at home on our own and he won't listen when we try to help him. I don't think there is anything we can do to help him if he won't except the help;.

Sandra and I don't have any friends so there's no where for us to go and no one for us to visit. We do have each other though.

I'm getting tired now so I'm going to make a bed up for Sandra in the living room and go to bed myself. Thanks everyone for your support. See you all tomorrow.

Just noticed your email Ann, love the pictures especially the star, it looks brilliant, you are clever. Did you say you were going to put it on your Christmas tree?

Big Brother's just finished so I'm signing out and going to bed now.

Good morning to all my dear friends. xxx

Well Ros is still not herself. The neck is a little better, but the sciatica is still not giving her any rest from the pain. She had another bad night again, and it's starting to show in her. She looks tired out and total listless.

The hospital didn't give us any indication, of what the problem was, with her neck and head pains. It seems to me that they just didn't seemed bothered, and was glad to see us go. I have been contemplating writing to he Heath Minister, but I am sure that would just be binned, and nothing would be gained.

After the exceptional service we had at Kettering Hospital, and this service at Northampton. You could soon loose faith in the NHS, whom I have supported all my life. The Para-medics do an exceptional job, and put the patients at total ease, then you go into the HOSPITAL MODE. Moan over, for now. ;-) ;-) ;-)

I had a wonderfull sleep last night, i slept until 9.45 with only one toilet visit.

Peter the plumber came round about 5.30. He was only in the loft TWO MINUTES and had fixed the problem, something to do with low pressure on something. I slipped him a TENNER, which he didn't want to take. As I said to him, I rely on you in times like this, so take it. I have booked a Service, for a Saturday when he is free.

Since getting up I have showered and shaved, dusted all through and hoovered. Just got to sort out what we will eat tonight.

Gill, you must REMEMBER we are all hear for each other, so if you want to off load anything, we are all here to listen. I do hope though things improve in your family life xxx

Jane, I know what it must feel like for Chris. with his trousers almost falling off his hips. I am in exactly same position, my trousers are all far to big for me, since loosing a lot of weight. I have to tighten the belt another hole. The trouble is the next size down are to tight. ;-) ;-) ;-)

My SIL rang last night to let me know my Sister is in hospital. and not in a very good way. She will keep me posted, so it's a waiting game. :-( :-( :-(

This morning we had brilliant sunshine, but now it's so cloudy, we need the lights on. It;s almost dark.

See you all later,

Jane

Afternoon All
Sorry to hear that poor Ros is still in so much pain with the Sciatica Frank :-(. It must be making her feel so miserable . Mine has gone now since I have been taking Gabapentin tablets. I think I will have to be on them permanently as the dodgy disc in my back will not ever change and is compressing on the nerve.
You certainly had a good sleep last night. That will have done you heaps of good.

I have just had my earrings arrive and they are really pretty. They go perfectly wit hmy dress :-D. Just as well as they came from America.

It is a very dull afternoon here and feeling a bit on the chillyside now. I have just put a long sleeved top on. I put some mince in the oven on defrost this morning and after a while I said to Chris I could smell roast beef. He had pulled the oven out to stick a tile back on the wall at the back of the oven and must have knocked the knob and turned the heat on !!!!. So I had to bin it :-S. Luckily I had another pack of mince so we are still on for Spag Bol :-D. What a waste though :-S

Glad your man Peter got the boiler going again.I think you will be needing the heating now.

Did you manage to get the girls cleaned out Mel before going for the Dentist appointment?. I hope you got the all clear and don't need any work doing.

No Gill today. I hope all is well. Maybe she is just busy . I will send a pic of my earrings.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 18 Oct 2018 20:34

I did get the bantams cleaned out this morning and then Jim from two doors away next to the big house called over the fence. His wife has just bought the fields next to us and he wanted to talk about the boundries and also said he would be cutting our laurel back as it was hanging well over his land. Don't think oh was too pleased about that. He did say they were'nt going to put solar panels on the land though which we thought they may and he also said no trees. I said could we have that in writing please but he seemed to ignore that.

Anyway after that I did clean the big girls out and then had to get the lunch. Oh has been cutting back the pyracantha as it hits him when he is mowing and its a very vicious thing and the budlea next to it and when I went over the bonfire to dump the chickens stuff I see he has also cut the fushias back.

After lunch I washed my hair and had a nice long shower, dressed and off I went to the dentists in Torringnton. Got stuck behind the school bus right into Torrington when it turned of at the old Dairy Crest factory. Up the hill I went with three mins till my appointment and I have to park a bit awy from the practise and walk up a bit of a hill. Went in and told the girl my name for an appointment with Shaun for 4.15pm. She took a while looking it up and in the end I was'nt late but 11 DAYS EARLY. The apponitment was for the 29th October. I had looked at the card hanging on the hook over the calender and read Oct 18 and put it on the calender, I did'nt see the 29th bit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh had missed his appointment and had had a letter from them asking him to make another appointment so I asked him if he wanted to make another and he said yes but make it the same day as you go and then he won't forget. So we now have the two appointments on 13th November together. What a twonk!!!

Jane I am going to ring you.

Morning all

My laptop has crashed 5 times so far today I don't know what the problem is so hope it doesn't happen again while I'm doing this post.

I'm okay just have a bad sore throat and another earache. I'm going to colour my hair today as OH has gone to visit his friend, then I'm hoping to catch up with some programmes with Sandra as the planner is getting full again.

I'm still insulating Sandra's room, it seems to be taking forever. All the walls aren't straight so I've had to use some old wallpaper to make templates then transfer the shape over to the insulation. Yesterday I tried going into the window part but the edge curved and it wouldn't stick, so I had to fill that area to make it straight and leave the rest of the insulation until it has dried. I've checked it today and it's drying nicely so hopefully I'll be able to finish the job tomorrow for her.

She is so excited at the moment as she's just spotted the first bird on the bird table, a little Robin, he was back and forth happily eating away, so hopefully she'll be able to see more birds arriving soon. I'm quite surprised as I thought it would take longer for the birds to eat off there, but very pleased for Sandra. She can't wait to tell her dad when he comes home later. He's visiting his friend today.

OH is okay at the moment, I think he was probably having a bad day.....we all have them don't we? I've been thinking to that maybe he is fed up of the company of women, he tends to brighten up a bit when he see his friends. I still think he has depression but until he's willing to go to the doctors all I can do is support him. It's not been that long since his brother passed away so I don't suppose that is helping him either. I think it all just got to me the other day, but apart from feeling a little under the weather today with this sore throat I'm okay.

I love the earrings Jane, I didn't get a photo of your jacket though. Is that everything now. If it's not being cheeky could you take a photo of you wearing the whole outfit, I'd love to see one if you don't mind? Did you get your shoes I can't remember what you said?

Pleased to see you had a good nights sleep the other night Frank, hope you had another one last night. Sorry to hear about Ros, how is she today?

Good idea to have both appointments on the same day Mel, that way he won't miss it again.

I'd better post this before my computer decides to go off again and make a start on colouring my hair. See you all later if I can get back on here.

Good morning Gill and all,

Heavy dew last night or it might have been a FROST. The lawns are soaked, so no mowing.

Ros isn't too bad this morning, she woke at 2.00 am with a soaked face and hair. I don't know why she gets these. NOT HOT FLUSHES I am sure. lol lol

Ear rings look good Jane, you will be out smarting all the guests with your "CLOBBER" Has Chris tried his trousers on yet ?? You will have to keep on to him. I can just imagine the smell of ROAST BEEF. I bet you were wondering where that's coming from.

Mel I haven't been to h dentists for years. With only FOUR of my own, they look after themselves. Fancy you trampling all that way to find it was the wrong day. WHAT ARE YOU LIKE. ?? ;-) ;-)

Gill is the insulating sheets covered in Silver to reflect he heat ?? It must be a right old job putting that on the walls. Hope you get it finished soon. Also pleased that things have settled down with OH.

Beautiful autumn morning out here, the sun is shining and we had clear blue sky.

I don't think I have any jobs today, apart from getting dinner for tonight. When I ask Ros what she fancies to eat. Her reply is always the same "I DON'T MIND" whatever ever you want. !!!

Have a safe day all, see you later. xxx

Morning Gill and all,

Wham Bam St Luke's little summer is here!!! Its a beautiful misty moisty morning with loads of sunshine and a clear blue sky as far as the eye can see.

I have been out with my camera as when I looked out of the bedroom window this morning there were fairy cobwebs on the dead weed heads. Funny thing though they don't seem to like the nettles as there was nothing at all on those but the cow parsley heads had lots and spiders webs inbetween. Then I passed down to behind the back garden where a whole city of fairy houses are. Some are just crammed together but on the outskirts of the city are much nicer looking houses of a different colour. One out in the sticks is different to all the rest. Really magical morning here and it makes you glad to be alive.

Gillx Report 19 Oct 2018 11:26

It sounds lovely Mel, I'd love to see the pictures you took.

Pleased to hear Ros is feeling a bit better today Frank.
No the insulation isn't foil backed, we do have some foil backed stuff behind the radiators, but the insulation I bought for the walls is polystyrene with lining paper on the front you can either paint or put wallpaper on. Yes, OH is in a better mood now, like I said he was probably having an off day, like we all get from time to time. He's visiting his friend today so a bit of male company will be good. Being around Sandra and I all the time isn't the same as spending time with a bloke.

Just run a bath to rinse the hair colouring off, then I can condition it. I leave the conditioner on for about an hour otherwise my hair is to knotty to brush. I've taken a Strepsil so my throat is feeling a bit better now and drinking cups of tea is helping to. It was very sore when I got up this morning.

Poor old you Mel, Forgotten again xxx

Still a nice afternoon, there has been mowers going this afternoon, so someone has been busy.

Ros is in a fowl mood this afternoon, I think it's the pain from her back and legs. She started this afternoon, and got a short sharp response from me. So not talking now.

I have been trying to find a new keyboard for my Macbook pro. but don't know the model No. and I don't know who can fit it, I am totally sure I won't be able to.I suppose I will have to ask Conrad.

I have got an appointment with the NHS physio. for the 5th November , so hope they can sort out my neck and shoulder.

You sounded very romantic with your post MEL, describing the cobwebs in the garden, What did you have for breakfast. lol lol.

Not doing much, other than reading and watching a bit of Nat.Geo. Spare ribs in Chinese sauce, chips and beans or sweetcorn tonight. I will do the ribs in the oven nice and slowly, the meat will just fall of the bones then.

Sh's just offered me a COT. so speaking again. ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-)

Afternoon Everyone

Mel I am going to PM you soon :-D You should have had the pic of my earrings.I'm sure it went to everyone.I will send it again if you haven't got it.
I will send pics of the dress and jacket. But will wait until I have everything sorted before I send me all dressed up completely. I just need a fascinator.
I had a call from the lady who does alterations and dressmaking and can take the jacket to her on Tuesday to see about havign hte back of it lined.

I bet all those magical cobwebs loved amazing Mel this morning. You often get some really good ones.I just have the blooming things in the house
:-S

Gill I hope that sore throat doesnt get any worse. Maybe it is from doing the walls. It sounds a right old job doing all this insulation. You are really a dab hand at all this DIY :-D . I am pleased that OH 's mood has improved now .I hate it when Chris is in a grump as it never makes for a good atmosphere and walking on eggshells.
Sounds like you have beeen doing that this morning Frank. Like you say it must be the pain Ros is in making her in a bad mood. I think we are all like that when we have a lot of on going pain. At least it seems you are on speaking terms again now :-D

I went out to Tesco this morning and it was bedlam in there. I was glad to get out.I came straight home but then realised I hadn't been to collect my prescription :-S. So now I will have to do that tomorrow. What a silly billy.

The sky is so clear here .Its a lovely afternoon. But it is getting colder now . Thomas was out all night last night and it was really chilly. Not that it bothered him. The moon was really bright w hich might have been a reason he stayed out. I gave up calling for him about 10.30 . I have a feeling it might be the same tonight .

Evening all,

We've had a nice bright sunny day ,it was a bit misty first thing but once the sun broke through it was quite warm ,we nipped out to get fruit and veg and called in to see the children as it's half term ,they broke up on Wednesday and have all next week too they usually only have the full week.

Ann the little star is really pretty a few of those on your Christmas tree will look nice ,are you going to have a go at making the cracker you talked about ?

Jane the ear rings will look nice with your dress i like the little beads on them ,it will be good if the lady can line the back of your cape /jacket it looks nice with your dress .

Oh dear Frank so Ros is not to happy ,it will be the pain she is in making her a bit off ,it can really get you down when your in pain ,i know i can be a bit grumpy with Colin when i have had a bit of pain

Mel i love looking at the cobwebs out side when it's been a misty morning and they have all the dew on them they look so pretty ,i love to see them with frost on too they really sparkle then.

Hope the throat is better now Gill ,it might well be the walls making your throat bad if like you say they have the damp and mould on them you might be breathing it in .
Glad your OH is having a better day it must get you down when he's in a mood , is there any sign of him going back to work ? it might help his moods doing some thing again .

I carn't believe it's the week end again , when do we change the clocks ? is it this week end or next ?
