Evening All,

We haven't had any rain or frost today. It's been quite sunny and a bit warmer.

Best wishes to your BIL for tomorrow Mandy. I expect if they are filming there will be the experts close at hand to assist and advise. I hope it all goes well for him. <3 I had to look up those bears as I'm out of touch with children's toys these days. They have a nice face don't they so I bet Lewis will be chuffed with his blue Hot Wheels bear! Fancy the lift being out of order. I don't think I would have even managed all those stairs!! Then you have to come back down as well.

Mel we can't believe how forgetful we are becoming.........even with TWO heads trying to remember some things!! lol I'm always mislaying things as well and still haven't finished sorting my beading stuff from off the tops in here.

It's good the little Hog is coming back Frank...........you will have to give it a name! I hope Barry got your lawns sorted for you. It must help a lot knowing you can call him when needed.

I bet your gardens look really good after all your hard work Gill and will be even better next year as the plants fill out. It's good you have had a break today and have done more of your FH. I must get back to mine as there are still rellies to be added.

Your sister has certainly suffered a lot with recovery from her knee ops Jane. How awful to be in so much pain!!! Let's hope things get better for her from now on, although I expect the physio won't help things painwise at first. How is James's cold now? He does some late nights doesn't he, which is not great when you have a cold. :-D

OH has been his usual self for Halloween............'have I dusted off my broomstick ' etc. As he set off for his meeting tonight he turned and grinned and said with a glint in his eye, 'if any trick or treaters come, don't forget to take off that horrible mask before you answer the door!!' The cheeky bounder............he moved a bit smartly then as he thought I was going to throw my slipper at him!! lol.

That will teach you to keep them all for yourself Jane. Ha ha.

Mandy I alway feed chicken whiskers cat food and cat biscuits and I load the plate up. Having two come at least this year there was'nt any left and the first one there tended to eat all the whiskers out of both bowls first.

Its so lovely Frank has a hog to watch. I still hav'nt seen any in this garden.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 31 Oct 2018 22:16

Ann you should have got yourself a mask and put it on for when he comes in. That woud have given him a shock.

Mandy I shall be thinking of your BIL tomorrow. I hope it all goes ok for him too this time. Fancy having to go up 5 flights of stairs. I don't think I wouldhave done it however much I wanted to get presents.

Its much warmer here tonight but its been raining most of the afternoon on and off. I saw a bat tonight while looking out the back door to see if any hogs were about. The outside light was on and there were insects flying around it and the bat flew past so it must be warmer for them to be about.

Morning Mel and Frank, morning all

Sunny here after some rain to Mel.

Sorry to see you lost a big post Frank, better luck later.

I'm just on my way out to look for a fridge and freezer and Sandra wants to do a bit more Christmas shopping, so I might not be back on here today.

Hope everyone is okay, see you all tomorrow, if I'm back to late to post again later.

Have a nice day out Gill. Hope you find what your looking for.

I let two bantams out this morning. They rushed at me and I got one back in, Crester, the greedy one but the other one I think is the youngest one and I can't get near her. I have chased her about a bit but no luck. I have left the door open the their house and run and shut all the other 5 in the bedroom bit.

Frank Report 1 Nov 2018 15:41

Afternoon all,

I got stuck into my book this morning, as Ros was at "STITCHERY DO" they are making a SANTA door stop. Carol and another women cut the pattern out and made them into kits. They have even weighed out the sand to stuff it with.

The WI have made a disp[ay of POPPIES on a net and placed it on the BLISWORTH village sign. Everybody who has seen it, say, what a terrible mess it looks. Ros said some of the women are talking about taking it down, and making it into something decent before the 11th Nov.

We both suffered another bad night last night. As I had had a bad night the night before, I was in bed by 9.30 pm. Still awake at 12.15 am so got up and read my book. Ross sciatica was playing her up, she just couldn't get comfortable and was up by 6.30 this morning, which is so unlike her. She has put a HEAT PAD on this morning to try to get a bit of relief. At the moment she says she is comfortable.

My little hog came again last night, this morning the dish was empty , so I must remember to fill it tonight. I thought I might call him "PRICKLES" Which when I tried to pick him up on Monday, I got pricked. lol lol.

Ros has been writing the Christmas cards. She said it's another job out of the way.

How did your shopping trip go Gill.?? did Sandra get the things she wanted.??

We had a lot of rain last night and this morning. It's a good job Barry got the lawns done yesterday, hopefully it will be the last one this year.

Your poor sister is going through the mill Jane. I don't remember mine being that painful , I hope it improves soon.

Was thinking about Colin's brother this morning. He also is having his fare share of discomfort. or should that be fair ??

I am cooking Pork Chops for tonight with Jacket Potato's cheese and curried beans. Nice and easy and not a lot of washing up.

Ros is going to Choir tonight, 1st time in four weeks. They have two concerts coming up before Christmas. I think she said, money raised is going to a Charity but can't remember which one. So I have recorded her soaps. I will find something to watch on SKY.

This damp weather is not agreeing with my Arthritis. My neck, shoulder and hip are quite painful, I am rubbing cream into the joints, but not getting much relief. Getting OLD is no great pleasure, is it. ?? lol lol.

Spoke to SIL last night. My sister is sill in hospital, and sleeping a lot. She has had a little to eat, and having Physio on her arms, trying to get a bit of movement back. I can't see that it will do much good, as she has had another STROKE.

COT time and either back to my book or a bit of NAT. GEO. I am only half way through my book, and it tells I have over 15 hours left to read. So it's a real bumper book all about the "NEW FOREST" from way way back. so far I have found it really engrossing, and have a job to put it down.

Doubt I will be back tonight, so have a nice evening, and I'll see you tomorrow.

Annx Report 1 Nov 2018 16:17

Afternoon All,

I was still awake at 3.00am so didn't get much sleep either. OH was up before 7.00am to go to a talk to do with the self employed. It included breakfast from 8.00am so he wanted to be sure he didn't miss that! It turned out to be a disappointment though, just danish pastries!! lol. He said he never realised how much help there was for people starting out in business. Often it's the finding out that seems to be the hard part of anything to me. This afternoon he's gone to a meeting at Oakham.

Sorry your sister is still in hospital Frank and that she's had another stroke. I spoke to mine yesterday and she is back in hospital to do with her legs again. It looks like they will be doing something to clear her veins from what she said. The Santa doorstops sound good, but a bit heavy to carry!! :-D

I've just cooked some chicken breasts. I was going to do some mushrooms, veg and rice to go with them with a cook in sauce, but feel so tired today. Maybe OH will have his with some salad or sliced on a sandwich. I'm not really hungry anyway and he is pretty easy going about his food as long as he gets something!

I watched the new series of Paul O'Grady with the Battersea Dogs last night........those Daschund puppies were so cute!!

Mel I shall try and remember about the mask next year!! :-)

I rang the garage to try and find out what is happening about my tarnished roof strips as they hadn't got back to me like they promised over a week ago. It's over 5 weeks since they had photos to send to Peugeot to see if they would replace them under the warranty. Now they are argy bargying about cleaning them 'properly' first to see if that removes the tarnish!! I told them at the garage when I took it in that they will clean up, but within 2 days they are tarnished again so why didn't they relay that to Peugeot? I bet they will refuse to replace or reseal them, you just feel it in your bones don't you!

Brexit seems to be taking effect. I have a small investment with a company that is moving all it's operation abroad, so I expect that will mean some job losses. It's no surprise though.

Afternoon All
Just back from the hairdressers. Its not cut too short as I am back there again in 3 weeks for the last cut before the wedding.
Sorry that both you Ann and Frank had rotten nights again. Its just awful when you are desperate to go to sleep but just can't. Shame about the Poppies looking a mess on the sign Frank. I am sure the ladies will be able to do something about that.
I did laugh Ann at your OH's comment about taking off your mask before opening the door to anyone :-D :-D.. He does come up with some good ones doesn't he.
I hope you get some positive results with your roof strips. I think you might have to be prepared though for them not to take repsonsibilty for the tarnishing. I know though that you won't let it drop ,and quite right too. It is still under warrenty isn't it?

I hope your Sister is not in hospital for too long and that they can sort her poor legs out. I think I am right in saying she has had trouble for some time now. It must be very unpleasant for her.

I wonder if Gill has found a Fridge Freezer. There are plenty of sales still on so she might have got a good bargain :-D. Sandra will have enjoyed doing a bit more Christmas shopping too :-D
Hope you have managed to get your 2 Bantams back in Mel.You wont want them out at night just in case Mr Fox is about.

Mandy have you heard yet how your BIL got on today with his knee op? I do hope it went well for him. My Sister has a day off today from Physio and I know she was looking forward to just being able to stay at home .

When I got in from the hairdressers I had to sit and listen to Chris's weddding speech :-D. I think he has pitched it just right. There will be tears and laughter . He actually got a bit choked up reading it out to me :-( So did I if ~I am honest :-D

Best make a start on dinner. I see it is 5.30 already !!!

Annx Report 1 Nov 2018 19:09

Well my bones were right about my car! The warranty ran out a week ago Jane, but it was reported to them 5 weeks ago so was within time. No, the manufacturer will not cover it under warranty as quote 'it could be the cleaning materials used on it that caused it'. :-S As if! All it's had on it is the suds at the car wash, nothing else and not those many times. It's obviously a common problem looking on the internet, even the garage had seen them online. Manufacturers always seem to find a way to wriggle out of their responsibilities. Oh and the eye watering cost of 2 new roof strips is £2,200! I'd rather paint the ones I've got. lol.

That's good that Chris has his speech sorted and you thought it was pitched right Jane. I bet he was a bit relieved.

Yes I wonder if Gill found a new fridge and freezer. She'll be able to get them set up and full for Christmas if she has. :-)

I meant to ask if you breed your bantams or buy them in Mel. I remember yours having such pretty plumage.

O thats good news Mandy. I hope there is no infection this time and it heals quickly so he can enjoy Chirstmas.

I bet Janice was glad to be able to stay at home today. I hate it when you have to keep going to hospital appointments. Oh has an appointment soon and I must check the date.

Sorry you had a bad night Ann. You could have rung me for a chat as I was still up at 3am. I was watching a film and did'nt go to bed till quarter past 3pm. Was up at just before 8am and got on well at first then the bantams got out and it messed up my whole day.

They are still the bantams I had when you came down Ann. I only have 6 girls left now, no cock bird as the old boy died a while ago now so no more chicks. I had to let them all out tonight and wait for them to go in. I had opened the bedroom door and shut the others downstairs as oh told me to do that in thehope she would jump up into the bedroom but she would'nt. They are all safely tucked up together now. I shall have to be carefull how I put their food in tomorrow.

Hope Gill got the new fridge and freezer and Sandra got her extra presents and they both enjoyed their day out.

Good morning Auntie Mel, and all of you. xxx

Roa went to the Drs at 8,00 am to be sure of getting an appointment for later this morning. She spent well over an hour yesterday trying to phone, bu was constantly engaged. She is at the Dentist this morning for her annual check up. Hospital this afternoon, about these water infections. She thinks she has another this morning.

"PRICKLES" was waiting at the front door step last night, when Ros came home from choir. We fed him then, and came out this morning to another empty dish. So he knows where to come for his food. lol.

Sorry Mandy I thought it was Colin'e brother in hospital ;-) ;-) I hope everything is going to plan for his recovery.

I am sure Janice is pleased to be home and not having to cart off to hospital for more treatment, when do they think she will be finally discharged from torment ??

Good old Chris, getting his speech all sorted, ready for the big day. He can always add little bits if he thinks of any other things to say.

Beautiful morning her also Mel, Wall to Wall sunshine. They say the WIND is getting up this evening, and the temperature is going to drop to minus 1 or 2 degrees.

Did you find your Fridge/Freezer Gill. What have you done with your food that is in the old freezer.??

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 2 Nov 2018 10:51

Hope Ros gets on well with her appointments today and she can get something done about these dreadfull water infections. It must really get her down now after all this time.

I meant to say that when I went for Chickens food last week the war memorial in the square was covered in different sized home made poppies. It has four sides and four window boxes all the way round and from these there was wire netting hanging down with more poppies covering it. Crosses with names on too. I have never in all the years I have lived here seen anything like it in Holsworthy before.

Annx Report 2 Nov 2018 11:00

Morning All,

That was a long wait to hear for your sister Mandy but good to know the op went ok. I expect your BIL will be glad it's done now as well.

Yes, a frosty start here too. We had to scrape the car for the first time this autumn. I was down at the surgery before 8.00am to queue to get an appointment and a couple of the women in the queue did double takes seeing me just in a cardi and no coat! Needless to say they were all muffled up in coats and scarves and gloves. Saw the doc at 9.40am and she has put me on a list for a knee injection, as it may help me till I go to my assessment at the end of January. There was the sweetest little girl with her hair in bunches, aged about 2-3 in the waiting room with her parents. After giving us all a long stare she was a little chatterbox. She was watching folk at the reception desk so her dad asked her what she could see. 'People' she piped up. He then asked 'what are they doing?' 'Paying' she answered. I had to stifle a grin and thought she wasn't far wrong there, it could be happening in the future! OH has gone to a business event meeting at Loughborough Uni this morning so I don't know when he will be back.

I see Ros has appointments today as well Frank. It is hopeless trying to phone our surgery too. What a nuisance all these water infections must be for her. We have glorious sunshine now.

No beading today as the girls have gone to the Hobbycraft NEC event in Birmingham. Too much walking for me so I gave them my shopping list!! Well they did ask. lol.

I think a few of us are definitely training to be VAMPIRES with not being able to sleep at night!! lol. :-D.

Mel, I bet your angels look nice as a little group........maybe someone will buy all 6! Your bantams must be quite long lived as it is quite a few years you have had them. I bet their chicks are adorable as they would be so tiny.

I'd better pop and do my errands and get the car washed now. BBL

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 2 Nov 2018 11:52

When I used to hatch the chicks they were like over sized bumble bees and they were yellow with brown and black stripes. I do miss having chicks but I don't miss the work they entail.

Glad you managed to get your appointment Ann. I hope the girls can get what was on your shopping list for you.

Just going to take a pill and then clean the big girls out as they are very wet in their house with the rain we had earlier was coming from the east and I did'nt shut their window so it all blew in. I am getting muddy eggs so if I do it they will be nice and clean again.

Gillx

Gillx Report 2 Nov 2018 13:22

Afternoon all

Sunny here today and a bit warmer than it has been.

I see Chris has done his speech Jane, I bet he's glad it's done now and by what you were saying he's got it just right. How is your sister today, hope she's not in as much pain now.

So you've named the hog Prickles then Frank, he knows where to get fed if he's waiting by the door lol Sorry to hear Ros is unwell again, she has a lot of appointments today by the sounds of it.

Good idea to give the girls a shopping list Ann for the NEC, I hope they managed to get everything you wanted.

Sandra would of loved to have seen new chicks being hatched Mel, I never thought of them looking like over sized bumble bees :-)

How is your BIL now Mandy, your poor sister having to wait so long to hear how he got on, she must of been at her wits end.

Well, I did it........switched service providers, I've been meaning to do it for ages but didn't have the courage to go online, so yesterday while we were out shopping there was a lovely man who was encouraging people to switch, he was from first utility, so I signed up and now we're switching, it'll take about 3 weeks. The only thing I regret was saying I'd go paperless and do things via email, so when they ring me I think I'll go back to having everything sent to me through the post, it'll cost us a little bit but at least I don't need to worry about anything then, I'm really not that good on computers.

Sandra bought some things for my mum's neighbour for Christmas yesterday, she has become friendly with her since we moved here. She said she wants to buy me a few more things then she's done.

I spent a fortune yesterday finishing off OH and Sandra's Christmas presents, so they're done now I just need to wrap everything up nearer the time. I found a great bird book for Sandra which not only has the birds in it, it also tells you how to set out your garden and where to put the bird feeders etc.... she loves it. We also found a new fridge and freezer so they're being delivered on Tuesday. OH is going to take our old ones down the tip as they wanted £20 each item to take them away when they delivered the new ones. I don't have much in the freezer Frank, so it'll all be eaten by the time the new one arrives.

Poor OH kept having accidents yesterday, I think he was just having one of those days, first of all he run the trolley into the end of a food isle then he was pulling a car mat off a shelf and knocked a bottle of diesel cleaner on to the floor which smashed and leaked everywhere including over his boots, I said he wasn't safe to be let out lol. I ended up talking to a woman who had seen it happen and she said she was in Liverpool last week and saw a pub called HUSBANDS CRECHE well, I couldn't stop laughing. I wish they had one around here, I could just drop him off and pick him up again when Sandra and I had finished the shopping LOL :-D :-D

I had a lovely surprise this morning, the relative I am in contact with, to do with my Australian family, sent me a PM with lots of names on that I can now add to my tree, the only down side is I got a bit confused over a few of them so I might have to ask her some questions then I can put them onto my tree correctly. It's a very long list and is going to take me some time to go through them all. I'm really excited as I doubt I would of found them all myself. It's really difficult to research Australia from over here in the UK.

Going to get something to eat then catch up with the soaps I recorded last night, we didn't get home until late as we treated Sandra to a McDonald's. She said she had a great time and has been wrapping up the presents she bought today.
