Forgot to mention, when I was de-frosting the freezer I took some of the ice and made Sandra a little snowman, she loved it :-D :-D :-D

Morning all,

Another dull and dreay day here today. It rained all last evening and into the night.

We did hear some fireworks last night and we think it was from Black Torrington. There seemed to be continuous bangs and coloured lights lit up the sky over the trees at the back of us but we could'nt see the actual fireworks in the sky at all. It must have been a bit like a bombing as I have never heard so many bangs with every firework. I was'nt alive during the war so I can't say for certain but it put me in mind of the films I have seen. I did wonder if it was a centenary display and so thats why it lit the sky in red and green and all the noise.

Morning Mel, morning all

Another dull day here but so far no rain, although it did look like it rained in the night when I got up this morning.

Sandra is pleased today as there were one or two coal tits on the bird feeder, I've explained to her that they might not come to often at the moment as there are plenty of berries around for them to eat, but once they've eaten all them they'll come to the feeder more often. She's still looking at her bird book and loves it.

I've woken up with flu, I thought having the flu jab was suppose to stop you getting flu, but no I've got it and it's a bad dose to. My arm is so sore Sandra had to help her dad take the freezer down the tip as I couldn't pick it up. They're back now and I've put the lamb on to slow cook for a few hours. I think we're just going to have a relaxing day together now.

It was the same here last night with the fireworks Mel, lots of bangs and flickering lights in the sky but not many fireworks that we could see. It was very loud and the neighbour's dog was going mad, barking her head off, which is unusual for her as she's normally so quiet. I did feel sorry for her as she sounded quite distressed with it all.

We were going to take Sandra to a firework display and called in the usual place we go to, to find out when it was on, only to find the place had shut down, she was so disappointed and I haven't managed to find anywhere else close by to take her to. She's okay now and is looking forward to our Christmas night out at the garden centre we go to every year, that's on next week, I just hope I feel better by then.

Oh, forgot to say loved the pics of the angels Mel, you are very clever.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 4 Nov 2018 11:34

Gill you can get fluy symtoms after a flu jab and my arm hurt like hell after I had mine and it did'nt go off for nearly a week so perhaps that is what it is. The flu jab can't give you flu.

The coal tits eat mainly seed and I get them on the feeder most of the year. I have one on the feeder now.

Frank Report 4 Nov 2018 12:06

Good morning all,

Another reasonable night last night, slept from 11.00 to 7.00 with only one rip to the loo

Funny sort of morning here very overcast. Roa has got to the back garden to do a bit of tidying up. I've given strict instructions that she must not do to much. A lot of good that will do. lol lol.

We had fireworks going off from 6.00 to 9.30. Some people must have more money than sense . I agree with you Jane, Organised displays ONLY. Last night on the news proved it. They showed ThHESE MINDLESS YOBS. Firing fireworks at the FIRE CREW. Those ROMAN CANDLES could seriously do a lot of damage, if they hit someone in the face.

Your poor BIL Mandy, FOUR TIMES seems rather excessive to have his knee opened. What is the trouble ??

Gill as Mel said the FLU JAB, can't give you the flu, just makes you feel under the weather for a few days, hope you feel bit better later in the day. Just give your arm a good rubbing.

Jane, On line banking would scare the pants off of me. Our pensions go into the bank every month, and the Standing Orders look after the main out goings. the rest of our spending is on our cards. Ros keeps some money in her purse, but I never seem to go anywhere that I would need CASH.

We have decided w will go to the CARVERY sometime around 3.00 pm. That won't be much earlier to eat, than if I was cooking at home.

I think I will get my shower and shave, and sort out what to wear. (SOUNDS LIKE A WOMEN) nothing to wear. lol lol

Gillx

Gillx Report 4 Nov 2018 12:33

I can't rub my arm yet Frank, it far to sore and bruised, OH was lucky his didn't bruise and he's okay as far as flu symptoms are concerned, unlike me, I feel under the weather today, I'm so glad I got all the housework done yesterday, I certainly don't feel up to doing any today. The lamb smells nice so I'm looking forward to that later on, I'm hungry already. Enjoy your carvery later, have you found something to wear yet? lol ;-)

Sorry to hear you had the same problems with a sore arm Mel, it's no joke is it, especially when you roll over in the night and lean on it, that's what I was doing last night and it kept waking me up so I'm really tired now. I think I'll be having an early night tonight. I must admit I feel a bit better than I did when I first got up so that's good. Hopefully I'll be okay later next week so we can all go to the Christmas event at the garden centre we go to every year, Sandra is really looking forward to that. We were hoping to take Sandra to a firework display but unfortunately when we called to the usual place we go to the other day to see what day it was on, the place had closed down, so she won't be going now. She was a bit disappointed but at least she has the Christmas event to look forward to instead now and I know she loves that night out and looks forward to it all year around.

I was saying to OH before that it feels like we've gone straight from summer to Christmas, at least that's how it feels to me. They've started putting the Christmas adverts on already. Has anyone seen the new Aldi ad yet with the carrot in the HGV almost falling over the edge of a cliff, it has a sort of "To be continued" vibe about it, so Sandra is wondering what's going to happen next. At first I thought it was the coke ad as they have the same HGV.

Afternoon Everyone
I have been over to Rushden Lakes and Waitrose and need a sit down now . My hip is really painful. But I had quite a succesful shop. 2 tops and a pair of lovely dark green leggings,a couple of Xmas Presents ,Cards ,wrapping paper and a beautiful little cushion with a big Bee on it. I got that for Larry as he loves Bees and I thought it would go well in their little Summerhouse. I know it seems a but sill getting a cushion for a man but it was just the bee that I thought was so lovely. All that shopping was done in M&S and then I went across to Waitrose for a few bits to go in the Xmas food box.
I am now having a nice glass of Sherry :-D.. The lesson for on line banking is off now for today. It is onlt really for me to get access to my accounts.Chris does all the paying of bills/Direct Debits/Insurance etc.

Oh Gill,I bet it is just the reaction from the flu jab making you feel so rotten today. It is quite usual for that to happen. Hopefully it will wear off soon and also your sore arm.
What a shame the place had closed where you you were hoping to take Sandra for the fireworks.
We had loads going off here last night. Burton Latimer had the loudest bangs and then we heard the finale from Wicksteed Park. I managed to keep Thomas in from about 5 o clock but then by 4 am he was wanting out. But that was fine.

Frank you are doing well with your sleeps these days. I hope it continues. Has Ros finished doing the bit of clearing up in the garden? Its raining a bit here and just really dreary.

Mandy I hope you find BIL good today and not in too much pain. I do hope that his knee heals well.I suppose there will be a lot of old scar tissue from his other ops which would make it more difficult.

Mel all your little Angels are lovely and make a smashing set.Did you say you were going to sell them at the shop?

I havent finished unpacking the shopping yet so need to get a wriggle on and get it done.
I will send on the Menu.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 4 Nov 2018 15:40

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 4 Nov 2018 15:41

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 4 Nov 2018 15:48

Oh's brother called in while we were having our big breakfast. He would'nt come in as he had been taking pictures up the road of the tunnel of trees and stepped back into the ditch so he had a very wet smelly boot and sock etc. They talked for quite a while outside on the patio and he brought oh three bottles of wine for his Birthday which is in two days time.

Then it rained a bit and now its just miserable and dull out there.

Annx Report 4 Nov 2018 16:07

Afternoon All,

Dismal, dark and drizzly here, proper wintery now. Lots of fireworks last night, but I think some are to do with Diwali here. Thankfully there weren't any that sound like bombs going off. We used to get some awfully loud ones a few years ago, like you imagine a warzone as Mel said. I would prefer organised firework displays only. Better for pets and it would help A & E depts. Like Jane I also had one of those aeroplane fireworks hit me when I was about 11. It flew under my am, burning all my coat and ruining it but at least I wasn't burnt. Jane I think the Bee cushion was a stroke of genius for Larry!

Mandy I didn't realise your BIL had his knee operated on so many times. What an ordeal for him and I do hope this time it is successful. I can imagine Max being a big softy!! Does he still try and get on your knee? :-D

Mel your angels are lovely and look very good displayed like in your photo! My friend is busy making up her 'cat' jewellery now for the fair she is doing at a cat show after Christmas. It's good the hens are laying well again. I wonder sometimes if a fox being around puts them off laying for a while. I was wondering what the twigs were for! Will you be doing any wreaths this year? I know the wiring can be quite hard on your fingers.

Yes, I was so relieved when I saw my pants!! They were white ones and didn't show up very well against the paper roll off the bed or the white bin. I must wear traffic light red ones for visits to the surgery in future. Jane, I did think about them dropping out of the leg bottom of my jeans as I walked out and yes they were large comfy winter warmers!! lol. I went to a wedding with a fixed menu, not realising there wouldn't be a choice, and it was beef, which I don't like so I just had vegetables. Good luck with your lessons! Like most things it is easy once you know how. I banked on line a while before OH, but although it is great being able to look at your accounts whenever you want, it doesn't feel as safe and I still worry about hackers emptying my accounts!! :-0

Gill it does sound like the flu jab has affected you. I have had a headache after mine a few times. The jab takes 2-3 weeks to become effective though so if you do have flu it will be because you were already incubating it before you had the jab. Hopefully not and you will be fit and well for your trip to the Christmas displays with Sandra. It looks like you are getting more visitors to your feeders now.

I had a good sleep last night too Frank. I hope you enjoy your carvery. :-)

Jane Report 4 Nov 2018 16:44

Mel ,I would love the Smoked Haddock starter and the Lamb too. I have a feeling that is what they might choose as one of the options. The fishy stuff is not for me.I wasn't too sure about the Hare and Rabbit Terrine either :-S I just think for a Pub it it a great Menu for a Wedding. Then in the evening they are providing more food, all home made . Finger food.

I hadnt realised OH's birthday was so soon. Have you managed to wrap the big Pruner? Where does OH's Brother live? I am sure the 3 bottles of wine will go down a treat :-D

James is home. He has been in London shopping with Jess for her outfit for the wedding. She has bought a Tuxedo. I know it sounds a bit weird but James showed me a pic of her in it and she looks lovely with heels too. She just needs to buy a top to go with it. It has cost a bomb so our Xmas present to Jess is part of the price of the suit. I will just do a couple of small pressies for her now for Xmas day.

I'm going to ring Janice now.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 4 Nov 2018 18:36

oh's birthday is on the 6th.

Yes I shall do a few wreaths this year and perhaps some candle arrangements as they go down well and are easier than the wreaths. I shall have to go to Em's next door for some yellow fir as oh cut ours back so much this yeat there's nothing sticking out for me to cut! He was talking yesterday about cutting the bottom branches off my lovely nordic pine, I thinkthats what it is, it dos'nt lose its prickles and will be great for some other thing I may try this year.

The twigs or small branches I hav'nt done much with yet as they were a bit wet and I keep forgeting to get the tiny cones I picked up outside Lidl out of the car. I have to find a bit of moss too.

Just made a load of scones as I have some nice clotted cream in the fridge I bought yesterday.

Jess's tux sounds nice, could we see the pic please? Oh would have like the Hare and Rabbit Terrine.

Its raining out there now but I have shut all the girls in so no need to go out again.

I meant to say I think the bee cusion is a great present for Larry and I don't think it is silly its a good idea.

Gillx Report 4 Nov 2018 19:35

Thanks Mel for all your help with my tree it makes more sense now. I've answered your PM

The picture of the Bee cushion is a brilliant present for Larry, he'll be thrilled with it Jane. So Jess has a Tuxedo, it sounds very smart?

Loved the picture of the little pony Ann, how cute was he? You could tell how small he was by the size of the fence, his little face was a picture, bless him.

I'm starting to feel much better now, just a bit of a headache, but then I have been doing some of my family tree. Thanks to Mel's help I have now made a start on the children I was looking for.

Going to get some soup now, I didn't eat all my roast lamb earlier as I didn't feel up to it and now I'm hungry.

Evening all,

It's been a little milder here today and the sun has tries to peep through the clouds at times .

BIL looks so well he still has the cast on his knee ,not a plaster one but one with velcro straps with metal plates in so he doesn't bend the knee ,he's off the morphine and just has paracetamol for any pain ,the surgeon will see him tomorrow so i expect he will then know when he will be coming home .

Frank/ Ann BIL's had so many op's because the first knee joint he had done got an infection in the joint so that was taken out and an antibiotic filler was put in then the second new joint was put in ,then some how or other that joint snapped !!! how they don't know so that's why he had to have this third one put in .

Mel the little Fairies all look lovely i think they will sell well at the fair .

Oh Ann what a dear little pony how could you not fall in love with that little face .

The menu all looks good Jane lots of choice on there , i think Larry will love the cushion ,i don't see why a man shouldn't have a cushion ,he'll be able to have that in his lounger to put his head on when he needs a doze .
I bet Jess will look good in the Tuxedo as she's nice and slim ,didn't some one wear one at Harry and Megans wedding ?

Glad your feeling a little better now Gill ,those flu jabs can make you feel a bit off but it doesn't last long .

Annx

Annx Report 4 Nov 2018 20:44

Oh Mandy your BIL has been so unlucky with his knee hasn't he. Fingers crossed all will be well this time. I thought the same as you that Jess's slim figure would look good in the tuxedo. It's something that she can wear in the future as well.

Yes the little pony is cute.........I bet he gets a bit spoiled with people stopping with treats as well, but he isn't overweight.......well not yet!

Jane that is a very good and varied menu as you say. I like the look of the lamb as well which would be popular I think, but I would be happy with the fish or guinea fowl as well!

Mel, it is useful you having all that greenery to hand to make things with. It sounds like your OH is in the mood for trimming in the garden!

Off to watch the Still Open All Hours now. An early start tomorrow as OH is making a final decision on choosing his new glasses!! I hope he does, as he was looking at all the round ones on the people in that prog about pitching computers against doctors to work out what illnesses people had. I didn't like them at all, but I could see him wondering. :-)
