Yes he really has been unlucky Ann, but not just that knee he's had the other knee done twice too because of infection , he had both those first knee operations done in Cambridge because the waiting list was shorter than here in Norwich .
It seems really odd that both should go so wrong ,hopefully this will be his last op on his knees.

Round glasses make me think of Harry Potter :-D

Gillx

Gillx Report 4 Nov 2018 21:16

I was thinking of Harry Potter too LOL :-D :-D :-D

Your poor BIL Mandy, one knee is bad enough but both of them. I hope things go better for him now.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 4 Nov 2018 21:26

Poor BIL Mandy he has been through the mill with his knees. I hope this will be the last for him third time lucky and all that. I bet he is dying to bend his knee. You always want to do something when they tell you you can't.

Ann are you talking about Harry Potter glasses or those thicker rimmed one they wore years ago. They look good on some men.

Annx

Annx Report 4 Nov 2018 23:34

The glasses these lT whizzes were wearing had a bit thicker frames than the Harry Potter ones. I think they do suit some people but maybe not OH. He's a devil once he knows I don't like something, so I bet he will be trying some on tomorrow. Watch this space! I thought the big black rims on his last pair made him look fierce when he frowned, but he still got them as I said it was more important that he liked them. He delights in wearing a flat cap I hate as well........ I think he is morphing into my grandad!! Lol

Oh Mandy what a sorry time and trouble he has had. How long ago did it all start? He must have been in pain and not very mobile for ages. It will be wonderful for him if all goes well now.

Morning all,

How are we all feeling today? Did we all sleep well? Dull and dreary morning but its not cold enough to have the heating on so oh has'nt turned it on! It reminds me of getting up when I was a child, to a cold house but I suppose its not that cold yet. In the very frosty spell we had he turned it on. That reminds me I must order some oil.

That was a very late post for you Ann! I was surprized to see it was last nights post and not this morning.

There is nothing on the telly I want to watch lately. I think I said I tried the new series but coud'nt get on with it. I definately don't like any shouting like in the soaps so I don't watch any of those, well only Doctors at lunchtime cos oh has it on as he like Sara and her temper and guts.

Morning Mel, morning all

Dull here to Mel.

I slept well last night and feel good today, so feeling unwell yesterday must of been due to the flu jab. My arm is much better now to, not so sore.

I wonder what type of glasses your OH will pick Ann, like you said so long as he likes them that's what counts. If he chooses ones you don't like, tell him you don't like the ones you do like, then he might chose those instead. I hope that made sense?

I'm hoping to finish my family tree today. Thanks Mel for all the emails, I was up till almost 2am and have another two emails to read and go through today. I had all the information sent to me by the lady from New Zealand, but it didn't make a lot of sense until I compared it to your emails, I can now enter people onto my tree in the correct order. Thanks for all your help <3

I've just had a text letting me know the time slot for delivery of my fridge and freezer tomorrow, it's between 10.05am and 14.05pm, so not a bad time and I can track it online to if I want. I think that's quite a nice time slot, not to early and not to late.

Frank Report 5 Nov 2018 10:30

Good morning Mel/Gill and all,

NO ME AND YOU came through Jane, from what been said it sounds very good, with lots to choose from.

When we got to the CARVERY there were hardly any parking spaces left, and it is a VERY BIG CAR PARK. We walked in and asked for a table for two. One and a half hour wait, to eat in the restaurant. So we found a quiet table in the bar, paid for the food and drink and went through to get our food. The queue was so long, I just couldn't stand there, so Ros waited and bought both out meals to the table. The food was excellent . I think with so many mouths to fed,the food was coming out of the kitchen like a CONVEYOR BELT.

I loved that little pony Ann, As you say, I bet he gets lots of attention, and seems first in line for tit bits Bless him.

Jane that bee cushion looks great, I can just see Larry cuddling up to that for forty winks.

We had fireworks going off all evening last night, so I don't know what to expect tonight. It might be quiet, as they have run out of fireworks and MONEY.

Mandy I do hope you BIL gets plenty of rest and treatment for his knee. Poor beggar must be cheesed off with it by now.

Denis and Pam ar having the new dividing fence put up this morning. FOUR MEN to take down a few planks of wood, that I could have done on my own. "More hands make less work."

Gill that's a good time slot for your delivery. A lot say between 8,00 am and 6,00 pm. So at least it means you aren't stuck indoors all day.

I have my PHYSIO at 11.15 this morning for my neck and shoulder. I am going to ask if there is anything thy can do for Ros's SIATICA. i.e. exercises. stretching Just anything that will give her some relief . She had another bad night with it again.

COT then we will set off, see you all later.

Gillx

Gillx Report 5 Nov 2018 11:31

Good luck with your physio Frank, hope you manage to sort Ros out with some exercises, sorry to hear she had another bad night, she must be getting fed up of it now. The Carvery sounded very busy, you were lucky to get served. From what you were saying about the quality of the food, it doesn't surprise me they were full. The poor chef would of been run off his feet.

Yes, it's a brilliant time slot, just the time I would of asked for if I had a choice and it gives OH time to take the fridge to the tip before it closes to. We will go shopping to stock them both up on Wednesday morning, it'll give them a chance to get to the right temperature.

Mel I've emailed you. Thank you so much for all the information, I look forward to receiving the rest of it today. You have worked so hard for me I really appreciate all your help. When I was reading the information off the lady from New Zealand, it was the end bit that was the most confusing, so hopefully when I read your emails today it'll make more sense. Thanks again for being so kind. I'm going to finish putting it on my Genes tree now. <3 <3

Afternoon all,

Physic went well, I have got some exercise's to do, and another appointment 26th November. She has told Ros to ask the GP to refer her to Gemma the physio she is sure she can b of some help to her with her sciatica. My neck and shoulder feels like I have been pulled through a hedge backwards. I hope it easies up soon.

I gor thee MENU thanks Jane. Given the chance I could make my way through most of those. MR GREEDY I hear you say lol lol

Carolyn rang and asks if we would like to go to HASTING weekend after next from Friday till Sunday. I'm not bothered, butt know that Ros would like too, so we said YES. I just hope her kept his mouth shut ,and keeps his opinions to himself.
Ros has finished writing her Christmas cards, and will get the overseas ones posted this week.

I has better get the potato's part boiled, ready for the oven We are having shoulder of pork in a wine sauce. Runners, brussels, peas and carrots . with roast pots and parsnips.

Jane Report 5 Nov 2018 17:10

Afternoon All
I hope we arent going to get too many more fireworks tonight even though it is the 5th.
Being a school night I would imagine most children would have had theirs or ben to a display over the weekend.
It was really foggy this morning here and it hung around for quite a while but then the sun came out and it has been lovely. We had a walk down the lane this afternoon as I felt I needed to get moving a bit more but my back and hip are not great at the moment so I had to turn round when we got as far as the stables.
I had a lovely Coatigan arrive ths morning .Its a wine/plum colour and is really soft.I only ordered it yesterday from Debenhams.

I dont have a pic of Jess in the Tux but she bought it in Hobbs .It has Satin lapels which makes it more dressy. Yes that Model wore one to the Royal wedding the other week .But she had a Top hat too. Thank goodness Jess hasnt gone for that :-D :-D

So it is the day for deciding on the specs then Ann. I wonder what he has chosen.I can't wait to hear and hope that you approve :-D :-D. I never have any say in Chris's specs. He did change the style last time and I was a bit worried they wouldn't suit him ,but they were fine and after a couple of days I got used to them.

I hope BIL is continuing to improve Mandy and his knee is healing well. He is the opposite from Janice in that he isnt allowed to bend his and Janice is desperate to be able to :-D.It must be quite unusual for people like BIL and my Sister to have trouble with both knee replacements .

Frank I am keeping everything crossed for you that the Physio is going to be a great help and that Ros too can get some relief whe nshe gets an appointment.
I didnt think you ever wanted to go away with Caroline and John because of him being so obnoxious. But it might me nice for you to both have a couple of days away after all that you have both been through lately .

Mel am I right in thinking it is going to be a wet day your way tomorrow? Those poor birds will be puddling around in mud again :-S Chris is going to Cambridge tomorrow morning . Fitz is coming up for lunch. It will be Pizza again and a few other bits and bobs.

Pork Chops tonight ,lots of veg and some kind of potato .Can't make my mind up.

Gill you will be looking forward now to tomorrow for the new Fridge Freezer :-D When I had my new one I said I wasnt going to totally fill it and to leave room for some Xmas food. But it is stuffed :-S So we need to start using up some of the food .I need to check what's in the 3 drawer freezer too as I never look in that one.

I had my lesson on On line banking today :-D :-D I think I was a good pupil and we didnt come to blows :-D. I didnt realise we have nearly 30 Direct Debits !!! and didnt even know what some were. With Chris sat beside me I transfered £100 into my account from the joint one :-D. I do think I will still have to have him with me the next time I log in. I am sure I will eventually get the hang of things.

I hpe the physio does the trick for your shoulder Frank. It probably hurts a bit as the muscles need strengtherning (sp) so they are bound to play up a bit at first.

I found the ig paper clips today for the rest of the hedgehog bookmarks, well 5 of them and I need six. I shall buy some more tomorrow if they have any left.

Thinking of doing a sausage toad tonight so I better get myself into gear.

Jane Report 5 Nov 2018 18:31

There is some big firework thing going on .Really Really loud bangs and flashes. Thomas came in just before it started :-D.So he is now in for the night.
I don't think he could have had many mice today as he has just scoffed 2 pouches of food.

Has anyone been watching The Little Drummer Girl? We have but are totally confused :-S and are finding it hard to get our heads around it. I'm looking forward to the last of the 4year olds at the Old Peoples home tonight :-D. It just puts a smile on my face :-D :-D.

Gillx

Gillx Report 5 Nov 2018 18:35

Yes all 11 children were on your emails Mel. Thank you so much for all your help. I've emailed you.

So you've had a go at online banking Jane, you'll soon get the hang of it. I'm like you and not to keen on anything online, I had to ring our new gas/electric suppliers this morning to give them our bank details for the new direct debit and while I was on the phone I asked them for paper bills as I wasn't to keen on having them sent via email. I don't have a printer so if ever I needed the bill for ID reasons I would of been stuck, plus I'm not keen on doing things online anyway.

Hope you're not so sore now Frank after your physio. Has Ros sorted out her physio yet? Hope you both have a nice time away without any bother.

I'm just watching the news and someone has made a cardboard Grenville Tower to burn on a bonfire.........how bad is that, there are some horrible people around aren't there? They are going to be done for hate crime and so they should. They say it's only a matter of hours before they are caught. The silly people put it online.

Evening All,

It sounds like bombs going off round here just now and we saw a lit bonfire in the village as we came home from Nuneaton. OH has sorted and ordered his new glasses and should have them in about 10 days. We went in 3 opticians and found them at the last one. Gill you read my mind! He made a beeline for some grey round ones and with a grin on his face asked me if I liked them. I said 'yes' very seriously and that they really suited him! (I lied!) but it worked as he whipped them off very quickly and steered clear of any more round ones! lol. The ones he got have black frames and he says are very comfy. We were both glad as by then my knees were giving me gyp and he said his back was playing up!

It's been one of those days on the road today. Just as we were turning left into the village this morning a man stepped straight off the pavement in front of us and despite OH giving him a toot carried on oblivious as he had headphones in his ears and a hat with earflaps covering his ears as well. Then half an hour later a car in front of us pulled into the side of the road, but just as we were passing the woman driver pulled off again with a phone clamped to her ear not realising we were overtaking her. :-S Then a 4x4 coming the other way came so fast round a bend and over the middle of the road OH had to pull over and catch the hedge my side to get out of the way. I began to think we should have stayed at home.

I was still awake till the early hours Mel so did a late post! Well done finding the big paper clips and it sounds like you have done some good work sorting some things on Gill's tree. You got a short slot there for your delivery Gill and as Frank says they often quote the whole day which means you have to keep listening for them.

Frank, it will probably help for you both to have a change of scene for a few days in Hastings. Hopefully he will be better this time or you will have to bite your lip! I hope the physio will help you and also Ros when her doctor refers her. I think OH and I may be trying some at this rate with the aches and pains we have! :-( It sounded like the carvery was good and fresh. The Sunday one we go to has huge queues snaking around the place as it is popular. The staff are good though and will help serve anyone who has difficulties or fetch a plateful of what they want to their table.

Glad the lesson went well Jane. Yes, you just keep practising those transfers to your account and you will be well away!!! lol. :-D ;-) ;-) We recorded the Drummer Boy but haven't watched any yet. I enjoyed watching Charlotte Grey last night with Cate Blanchett, a sort of war time love story.

I did say I tried the little drummer girl but could'nt get into it so gave up on the first one and hav'nt bothered since.

I am looking forward to the 4 year olds later tonight as oh was watching something when it started so I watch it when he is in bed with no comments.

There's me calling it the Drummer Boy and it's the Drummer Girl! I like to watch the 4 year olds on my own too Mel. I miss all the funny things the little ones say when OH keeps chipping in! :-| I forgot to record The Black Death film tonight that started at 9.00pm. It was on Sky and Freeview.

Gillx Report 6 Nov 2018 00:00

Great minds think alike Ann ;-) ;-) So your OH's chosen his glasses now and ones you like......bonus.

What a day you both had driving today, it sounded a right nightmare. Pleased to see you didn't end up in an accident and made it home safely.

How is your back and hips now Jane, hope they're not to painful for you? Nice to hear Thomas made it back before the fireworks started, hope he was okay and the big bangs didn't upset him. We all stood outside and watched the neighbours fireworks, they were brilliant and just like a proper display. Sandra loved them.

I've not been watching the Drummer Girl. Maybe you called it the Drummer Boy because it's close to Christmas Ann :-)
I recorded the 4 year olds, I love that programme, so will probably watch it tomorrow with OH.
