You'll feel better for all that sleep Mel and probably get more done today, plus you have the sun, which you say always makes you want to do things.

We've got the sun here to but it's very cold. According to the weather we're suppose to be getting snow and frost next week. Although I think the snow will be on the higher ground, so Sandra might have to wait a bit longer for snow around here.

Morning All on this lovey sunny Autumn day. The sun was so bright and I was almost blinded driving over to Rushden Lakes .I had to take a pair of trousers back and Chris asked me to get him socks that will go nicely with his suit. I got there at 10.30 which is when M&S open for browsing so I got the socks,3 tops for me ;-) and a few bits of food and I was home by 11.30 . Chris was amazed i was home so soon.

I really need to clean the insides of some windows. The Kitchen ones are in a right mess but it is so difficult getting to them .I have to climb up on the worktop which is not easy with this hip and then having to kneel and stretch over the blooming sink is so uncomfortable and hard on the knees.

Did anyone watch Michael McIntyes show last night? I dont particularly like him as I find him a bit irritating but it was very funny.Even Chris watched it with me :-0

I think James will be home fairly early today as Jess is going to Edinburgh for several days to do some research at the Uni.
Now I must get some old togs on and start these windows

I will send a pic of Mel's present she sent :-D :-D

Love the present Mel sent you Jane, it's brilliant and using some of the lace off your wedding dress, how lovely. You are very talented Mel.

That was quick at the shops, mind you if it's as cold as it is here you don't want to be out to long, do you?

Good luck with your windows, be careful though climbing on the worktops, you wouldn't want to fall and hurt yourself.

I recorded Michael Mcintyre as Sandra was watching some Christmas films I'd recorded, so we'll watch him today. I think he's very funny :-D

Gill I have done the kitchen ones now but Chris said he will do the 2 small ones at the top I can't quiet reach without doing myslef an injury.
It is warm in the sun Gill but cold in the shade as there is quite a breeze now.

So your new neighbours look as though they may be keen gardeners . That would be lovely for you as you would both have the love of gardens in common.Hopefully good company too :-D

I got to the shopping centre before the queues of cars started .It gets so busy there that I always go as early as possible. The tops I bought....2 are going to go back :-S
They fitted fine but I didnt really like the feel of the material . The other top is a long shirt top with flowers on and it is just my kind of thing so I am keeping that one.
Chris is happy with one lot of socks but the other pack will go back with my tops.

Who has these window Vacuum? I think Mel and Frank do. What kind do you have pelase and which would you recommend ?The one we have is rubbish and leaves lines so will be going in the recycling bin.

My odd friend in Plymouth is collecting 7 Hens today . She is the one who has a Hen living in the house! :-S.All her other'girls' were got by either the fox or the Badger. They are going to Liskeard to get the new Girls. Now she has to think of 7 names for them :-D

Are you doing anything special for your Birthday Gill? I am glad you reminded us when it is as I looked on my Calender and I didn't have your name up :-S. I don't know I missed doing that.

Fitz is popping in maybe tomorrow or Tuesday to borrow one of Chris's walking poles as he is off to Pembrokeshire for a week with his Son Ollie and wife Kelly. They have booked a cottage in St Davids. I think Ollie and Kelly are just there for 3 nights but Fitz decided he wanted to stay a bit longer .I dont think he will really do much walking but the pole will help a bit and it will make him look like a walker :-D :-D I just hope they get decent weather.

Thomas is really strange today. He is asleep on his mat after being out in the summerhouse sleeping in there!. Normally he would be out and about in this nice weather.I am sure he is fine but maybe he us just having an off day like we do sometimes.

Just back, so I thought I had better let you know. I haven't been out of the apartment other than Friday evening for an Italian meal.

The weather has been beautiful with Sunshine all day, yesterday, and today. On Friday you could hardly see the sea for the fog and mist. What a difference a day makes.

Won't stop now, as I am taking Ros out for lunch. I expect the Calvary will be best as I don't need to book.

See you later. xxx

Jane Report 18 Nov 2018 14:24

Good to see you home again Frank . I expect you are tucking into a lovely Carvery Dinner now. Hope it is a good one. No cooking for you tonight :-D Was the trip a good one? I just hope John didn't get you riled this time :-D

Well I have gone off windows now and have cleaned all the loos. No-one else in this house ever things of cleaning them :-S.. Thats men I think :-S Washing in the machine but I think it might be too late to hang things out as by the time its ready the sun will have gone down . The wind seems to be picking up here now.

Thomas is still on his bed.He just doesn't seem himself to me. I know his worm treatment is due today but I think I will leave it for now and see what he is liek tomorrow.
I think I might do some more Xmas cards.I am doing them in stages. My lounge looks a right tip but I just cant be bothered now to have a good clear up.It is all my junk around the place(as Chris keeps telling me)
I dont have to do much for dinner tonight as it is all ready prepared things.Rotisserie Chicken Breast Joint,Potato Wedges, and microwave veg :-D Simples :-D :-D

Jane Frank and I have a Karcher window cleaner. Mine sometimes leaves lines but thats if I hav'nt wiped the blade before putting it away or if I hav'nt wash the washy bit.

The karcher is on Amazon on Black Friday at the moment for £42 odd instead of £79.

I haven't got anything planned for my birthday Jane, we were going to go to Chester Zoo as they have a lantern light up thing going on, it's starts on my birthday and finishes a month later on 23rd December, but it's been so cold here that I'll have to see what the weather is like as it's forecast for frost and snow, not sure if we'll get the snow but it certainly sounds very cold. With it being on for a month we may go a different day if the weather lets us. That's the problem with having a birthday in the winter there's not much to do like there is in the summer.
My mum said she'd call around on Tuesday to give me a present and card, I don't know why she isn't coming on my birthday and I didn't ask, she's probably busy with my sister or her friends. Sandra wants us to put the Christmas tree up so I'll probably do that with her.

The top with the flowers sounds really nice, pity about the other two though. Funny you should mention the window vac, I was thinking of getting myself one as we have lots of condensation on our windows in the winter and it'll save me wiping them down every day. I see you sorted your windows out in the end. I have to get OH to do our kitchen one as I just can't reach and don't feel safe standing on the worktop, I probably still wouldn't be able to reach the window as the sink would be in the way and I don't fancy standing in the sink LOL ;-) ;-)
Hope Thomas is okay now, maybe like you said he's having an off day.

Sandra, OH and I watched Michael Mcintyre before, it was so funny with the old man, wasn't he a good singer for his age. Fancy Lionel Blair saying hello and using his name when he'd never met him before, the silly man.

Nice to see you both home safe and sound Frank, how come you hardly went out? Did you enjoy the Carvery today?

Evening all,

It's been a nice sunny day here but much colder ,we haven't ventured very far today we've been catching up with a few programmes we had recorded .

I think you've done a lovely job covering the little jar with Jane's lace from her wedding dress Mel ,it looks so pretty with the tea light in it .

Jane my window vac is a Vileda i bought mine in Tesco's and i get on fine with it .
I have a heck of a job cleaning my kitchen window too as it's over the sink ,i have to try and lean right over as i carn't kneel very well now ,i can do the bottom bit of the window as it opens out from the bottom so if i go outside and pull the window right open i can just about get under the window to clean it .

Have any of you been watching the new series of the Chateau with Dick and Angel on channel 4 tonight ? we look forward to that and it's also the I'm a Celebrity Jungle on tonight too..

Nice to see you home again Frank ,din't you feel up to going out ?

Evening All,

Another nice day here.........don't mention windows Jane, I'm the same with getting on the worktops to reach the top of the kitchen one and the Karcher won't reach from the floor. It rarely enters OH's head to look if something needs cleaning and do it without being asked. He's got more used to there being messes as long as they aren't in the lounge where he can see them! What a lovely present Mel has made for you. Your wedding dress is having a second life isn't it. Dinner sounds nice.

It was good to hear Janice managed a bit more with her knee, even if she did need to rest it afterwards. Hopefully she will continue to improve now. I wonder how Mandy's BIL is doing.

Gill the OH allergy here is dusting! lol. :-D I hope you are feeling better now. Have you finished adding everything to your tree?

Hope you had a good journey back Frank and that you enjoy your carvery. It amazes me how the sea can disappear when it's misty.

We just went for the usual carvery and then to the factory shop today. I got another of those shelf baskets making 7 in all and have been sorting and tidying my beads into the last one. Then we went to a local art exhibition they have every year at the village hall at Peckleton. We went straight there so OH came, but he stayed in the car and read the paper which was good as I was able to have a proper look!! One chap had done some beautifully detailed snowy paintings of Pheasants among trees, but there were less paintings this year than usual and a man who used to do brilliant paintings of steam engines hadn't any on show.

OH's legs have really stiffened up today after his trek across Birmingham........no spring in his step today! :-D We are having an early night as we have a planner full of recordings to watch and I have an early start for a blood test in the morning then on to Mr Tyre to swap my wheels.

O good something I fancy watching on the telly again. I enjoyed the last ones and have been waiting for the next series to come on so thanks for reminding us Mandy.

Is this the first one of the new series?

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 18 Nov 2018 19:15

Jane's present is made on a glass not a jar. The holly was cut out of some ribbon I have and I just arranged the leaves together till I like t hem and then stuck the berries on the top. I really enjoyed making that thought it would be nice to have a bit of her wedding dress back as I think she gave the rest of it to Mandy.

I have been trying to find something to make to keep me occupied but there's nothing I fancy doing at the mo. I shall be into my wreaths soon so won't get much chance for any craft work. I do want to make anohter nordic gnome this year but smaller than last years one. I have an idea of doing him on wire netting and have some in my shed its just getting it down and cutting it up.

Must get some tea ready.

I've added a few people to my tree Ann but they are hidden on the tree I have access to so I only have their surnames which is making my tree look a bit odd. There are no dates so I don't know if they are in the right order or not. I've sent messages all over the place so hopefully I'll have some replies soon.

I love snowy paintings, I bet the art exhibition was lovely to see. Sorry to hear your OH's legs are stiff, hope they feel better soon. How are your knees now? It sounds like you've got a busy day ahead of you tomorrow, an early night is a good idea. Hope it's not to cold while you're out.

So it's almost time to do your wreaths again Mel, that'll keep you busy. When are you doing your craft fair, how many things did you make for it in the end?

We've been catching up with a few recordings today to Mandy, like you said it's far to cold to venture to far at the moment.

Just watching the results for Strictly then Sandra and OH are going to watch the jungle programme in the other room, I don't like that programme so I'll probably take another look at my tree, or see if there's anything on the planner to watch that OH and Sandra don't want to watch.

Afternoon All,

Cor it was tricky getting on here today! Looks like everyone else had trouble too. Still it all seems tickety boo now. :-)

Went to have my blood test first thing and would have missed my appointment if OH hadn't woken up. I was awake at 6.00am but drifted back to sleep. I got there in good time though and got seen 10 mins earlier than my appointment time which was good. We then took my car to Mr Tyre and got the tyres swapped so everything is good now. :-) A flippin warning light came on saying not all my tyres were being monitored on the way back and I thought the garage must have forgotten to reconnect a cable, but it went off again and has been fine since. I thought there might be a charge for swapping the wheels but the chap I saw before walked in and took over dealing with me and never asked for a payment which is good.

We went and had a coffee and did a few errands and are now off to the supermarket as we are running out of essentials. :-S It's dull and dreary now.

When we came home earlier the next door neighbour between us and the new properties was having his trees and shrubs on the front that screened us off from them all cut right back. Maybe his new neighbour wasn't happy about his leaves all dropping on their driveway? I don't know, but instead of a nice green outlook to the left we have brick and windows instead, which isn't so nice. We noticed that Mrs Overall opposite had obviously heard the chainsaw going and had found and excuse to come on the front to pretend to fluff up her hanging basket! Aren't I awful! She is so predictable though and seems more 'obviously' nosey than anyone else. Better go......he's got his coat on.

Frank Report 19 Nov 2018 16:19

Afternoon Annx, and all.

What a cold day it has been !! Ros bought home our bedding from Hastings and washed it. I went and put the line up, for her to hang it out. It was dry in no time, so I got it in, and folded it ready for ironing.
I have no idea when Carolyn will take it back to Hastings as they are off to Tenerife on the 12th December. When they get back, late January, they are off to FLORIDA to meet up with some old FRIENDS. (It's a wonder he's got any left) lol lol.

The journey home took around two and a half hours. The roads were very quiet until we got on the M1. Then it was packed on all lanes going North and South. We didn't bother to unpack and went off for the Carvery. Couldn't get a seat in the restaurant. so found a table in the bar and ate there. Excellent food as usual and half the price of the pub, we use in the next village.

Simon rang this morning to see how we were and how we got on at Hastings. He wants us over there next Sunday around 12.00 noon. Trevor and Brian and wife will be there around 1.00 pm. Sally and Simon ar doing Prawn Cocktails for starters, Roast Rib of Beef and Yorkshires with the usual veg. for sweet we are having, TREACLE TART and APPLE CRUMBLE, followed by Cheese and biscuits. So no-one looks like going hungry.

I wasn't feeling that good while at Hastings, that's why I didn't venture out. Ros and Carolyn walked down to the local shop for a few bits and the papers on Saturday morning. How Carolyn managed it with her MASSIVE MOON BOOT on, I don't know. She has THREE broken bones in her left foot, from the fall down the stairs on Tuesday. She has to keep it on for SIX WEEKS. Only taking it off to go to bed. So she is going to find it very difficult getting around. WOULD YOU BELIEVE, John hasn't asked ONCE how she is, since the accident. What can you say about someone like that.

Roast lamb, Veg, and mash tonight. Roa has peeled a load of apples and stewed them down. They will be bagged up and frozen when cooled down.

Lets hope the thread stays on now. Whatever happened there. ??

Gillx Report 19 Nov 2018 16:57

Hi all

Couldn't get on here most of today, something to do with the certificate not being valid, when I read the info it said that it might be someone hacking into the site and they are trying to get hold of everyone's log in details, so I didn't bother overriding it and coming on here anyway as I didn't want to chance it.

Pleased to see you sorted out your tyre and wheels Ann, that must of been a shock seeing the light, at least it went off and didn't come back on so that's good. I know how you feel about loosing the greenery outside your window, we had to take out lots of plants in the front to put in the new fence and it looks very open now, that's why we put a couple of tall planters there to fill the gap. It sounds like you have a really nosey neighbour in Mrs Overall, I bet she was cold standing outside.

Sorry to hear you weren't feeling to well at Hastings Frank. Fancy John not asking how Carolyn was, it mustn't of been easy getting around with the big boot on her foot. At least she doesn't have to sleep in it so that's something isn't it?
Simon and Sally are putting on a good meal, you won't be able to move when you've finished eating it all LOL.
Yes, lets hope the thread stays on, I missed our chit chats today.

I've been taking another look at my tree but don't seem to be getting very far. I have however been in touch with a couple of people belonging to the family I'm researching so with a bit of luck they'll be able to help me.

The present arrived Mel, Sandra said to say thank you. I've put the ones away that you told me to, ready for her on Christmas day and gave her the jingly one. She loved it (a pen) and promptly started singing jingle bells.....bless her. She's been writing with it all afternoon so it sounded like Christmas in our living room today ;-)

We are just about to watch a Christmas film before dinner, then settle down for the soaps and jungle programme Sandra and OH like to watch later.
