Well any thoughts of an early start went out of the window as I didn't wake till 10.00am. I looked out when I got up in the night and saw frosty rooftops here too. Yes the giraffe pose isn't very elegant, OH would have said something like he could see 'the promised land'. Lol. It's good to know I'm not the only one who struggles. Mel, you are right about the tum being in the way. I usually have my bead mat on a tray, but the one time I thought I'd manage without it ends up on the floor!

Frank, l must have sent you to sleep! Lol. Maybe these turns will go away once Ros has the other stents done. It might help her breathing too. I'm fancying the meal you had now.

I better get my errands done now before the day is gone and get my mucky car washed if there isn't a queue.

Don't worry Frank OH is the same, I have to tell him what colours we have in the garden and most of his clothes are bought by Sandra and I for presents so he doesn't need to worry about that. So we'll go with BRIGHT PINK for your colour then Frank LOL.

Thanks ladies for all your favourite colours, Sandra has written them all down now.

Well, next door is having their extension built, they only exchanged last Friday and the builders turned up this morning. What a lot of noise, but I suppose it goes with the territory, so to speak. OH did have to ask the builder to move all the flags he had stacked up against our fence as the fence would of fell down otherwise. To be fair the builder was very nice about it and move them straight away and apologised. They have got the digger now, digging the footings which is what's making all the noise. Happy days. We did get a letter from the council, bit late as they'd already started, but it gave us a chance to see the plans so now we know what's happening. The builder told OH it should take up to 3 months to complete, so hopefully it'll all be finished before the spring.

I haven't read any post yet, so hope everyone is okay. I've got a Christmas film on hold so I'd better go and press play, as Sandra is waiting.

I could just see Frank coming home in a PINK suit thinking he had bought a grey one Gill. What colour do colour blind people actually see though? Do those that are red green colour blind see green for both colours or red or something different for both??

Do you have everything ready to put your tree up tomorrow? I thought about Sandra the other day when I saw a little pink christmas tree! It sounds like it is going to be a bit noisy at times while the extension next door is being built but the builder sounds reasonable the way he shifted the slabs as soon as you asked. They must have been quick getting the planning application approved. There is something going on at Jean's old bungalow diagonally opposite us as a big van is parked outside and the sound of machinery of some sort.

I've done my errands and OH will be pleased I got his 4 huge batteries for his ancient radio.........£8.20!!!! It's a good job they last a long time. I got my car washed as well as there was only a van in front. There seems to be a quick turnover of the chaps at the carwash as I hadn't seen these before but despite the cold weather they were cracking on smiling and jabbering away to each other in whatever language. I asked them if they were cold and they said no if they kept moving. When they had finished, as I handed my money over, I asked the man collecting how I would say 'thank you' in his language. I don't think he was sure he had heard right as he looked so surprised I asked him again. His face broke out in a lovely smile as he told me and when I repeated it back to him he nodded enthusiastically as I repeated it a few times to be sure I'd got it right. His colleague was grinning too and said to me twice in his broken english 'you have made his holiday!'. I think he meant I had made his day.......how nice was that! I tried to look up where they were from when I got home thinking they were Polish or Romanian, but no they were Croatian.

I shall try an early night again as I feel quite headachey now after so little sleep. An early start tomorrow for sure as it is beading day! :-D

Gillx Report 22 Nov 2018 17:42

I've just caught up with the posts as I only skimmed through them earlier for Sandra as she wanted to write down the colours you all like. I'm still smiling at the Giraffe comment Ann, although I don't suppose it's very funny when you're in that position. That was nice of you to ask how to say thank you and for it to make his holiday/day. What are you making at beading now? I asked OH what colours he sees and he said green and red seem brown to him, now I know why he could never find the dead conifer leaves he used to leave behind when cutting the hedges. I used to have to guide him in as it was to high for me to reach. It was only a few he didn't clear away that were still on top of the hedge but for me and other people who aren't colour blind they really stuck out. You can buy some sort of glasses that help colour blind people to see colours how they actually are. I was watching a programme on it the other day and an old man had been given some for his birthday, they had put some balloons near him and when he saw the colours he burst out crying, it was so touching to see.

I like the earplugs you bought for Hannah Jane, do you know what everyone else is buying apart from the Bridget Jones pants lol. It sounds like it's going to be a laugh when she opens them all.

How is Ros today Frank? I hope she hasn't had another funny turn and is feeling better now. I smiled at Ann saying she can imagine you coming home in a bright pink suit, thinking it was grey ;-) ;-) ;-)

Pleased to see your BIL is getting used to the crutches and feels steadier on them now Mandy. I thought it was a full moon last night but OH said it wasn't quite there, when I looked again there was a tiny bit missing at the top left.

So the full moon is going to be on my birthday Mel, does that mean I'll turn into a werewolf lol :-D :-D How are you getting on with your Angels? I'd love to see a pic when you've finished them.

I settled down to watch the Christmas film with Sandra and fell asleep. I must of been very tired sleeping through all the noise from next door, I've not long woken up, hope I can sleep tonight and I'm not tired tomorrow. Lots of cards have turned up today so Sandra has taken them off me ready for tomorrow, OH has bought a big chocolate cake to, he said they didn't have any flake ones left, but chocolate is chocolate and we'll enjoy eating it. I was hoping to put the tree up today and put the lights on as that's what takes ages to do but with falling asleep it didn't get done, so we'll be doing the whole lot tomorrow instead.

Yes, Sandra will be putting her pink Christmas tree in her room again this year, but it'll be after we've done the big tree in the living room, so probably over the weekend. It's the last F1 race this weekend if anyone watches it.

I had a sneaky peak over the fence at the work the builders had done today and I must admit it's coming on nicely and the area is very tidy, they've put a bit of old fencing up against our fence front and back but that's not heavy like the flags so we don't mind. I'm a bit confused though as they have got a skip down the drive but have put all the soil they are digging out on the front lawn, I wonder what they are going to put in the skip? :-S The neighbours are having lots of work done inside the bungalow including an ensuite. It looks like they are going to make that out of the old bathroom which is next to the main bedroom and then make the small bedroom into the main bathroom. Sandra's pleased they are doing that as it's opposite her bedroom so with the frosted glass no one will be able to see into her bedroom. I also noticed on the plans that they are going to put a further window on the side wall where the back bedroom is otherwise the original window would be looking into the new extension. So plenty of work to keep the builders happy. OH said they are having new central heating, a new roof, and they are having it re-wired and plastered, all in three months. It'll be interested to see if it's all is done in that time frame.

Jane Report 22 Nov 2018 17:59

Well I am just in from the hairdressers. It has taken me forever to get home what with roadworks/diversons and the rush hour too. I fell quite drained. Also I really hate driving in the dark now .It seems to be getting worse :-S

Frank Chris has a couple of pink shirts and others with pink in. Not sure he has any Bright Pink socks though :-D. It must be very difficult sometimes for you being colour blind.

Mel I love your idea for a gift for Hannah. I must ask Janice if she has got one yet as if not I will suggest that :-D :-D

Gill that is going to be a right pain having all that noise right next door to you now. How big is the extension? Lets hope the buildres crack on and the weather stays good enough .It is incredible how fast buildings go up. They are already starting to build the houses at the top of our road now and it was only a week ago they were taking the grass off the field !!!!!. The road is a right mess though with all the lorries coming and going. No clean cars here for a long time me thinks :-S :-S

Ann I think that was a lovely thing you did in asking how to sat Thank you in the mans own language :-D. I bet no-one else has bothered to do that. I must do this when I go to the car wash people.I have no idea what Country or Countries they are from. Just Eastern European.

Frank that email you sent about Trumps new wall (with the Squirrel ) was absolutely HILLARIOUS
:-D :-D :-D.. Poor thing. But at least it landed in that tree :-D. It is the kind of thing I can watch over and over again and still find it as funny as ever.I will be forwarding that one to my Sister and Fitz .I know they will laugh as much as I did.

Got to get started on dinner now. I am all behind.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 22 Nov 2018 18:44

Ann that was a really nice thought to be able to say something in their language at the car wash. Good on you....... :-D :-D :-D You should have got oh rechargable batteries for his radio. A bit more expensive but not in the long run. I have an old radio of mums that runs on big batteries if needed and bought her rechargable ones for that which are around somewhere. I keep meaning to charge them up and use it in the shed as its a tape one too so I could have Christmas Carols while I do my wreaths.

I have been working on the Angels and they all nw have their heads on and their hair and their arms and now I have to do the worse part, their wings. I am going to use the same butterflies I used on Mandy's ones as I will still have some left when I have done these four. I have to stick them on persepex and then cut round them so that takes a while.

Gill have you seen the people next door yet? They sound like they are having everything done at once. You will be in for some noise with all that going on.

Easy dinner tonight, cold chicken from yesterday chips and peas.

Jane glad you liked my idea and it would be a good one for Janice.

Jane

Jane Report 22 Nov 2018 20:01

Gill it sounds almost like a total refurb next door.Nice you have been able to see the plans without having to appear nosey :-D :-D

Janice has bought a cheap nightie and has a rude /jokey joke to go with it. I can't remember the poem now so will have to ask her again.

Hannah is worried as the people in the flat above them are having a party on Saturday night and is having a bit of a wobbly as it is 2 ladies in their 60's sleeping downstairs .Just me and Gareths Mum :-D :-D.. I said not to fret. Liz and I will have either had enough to drink to send us off to the land of nod (and not hear noise) ...or maybe we might join the party :-D :-D :-D
One of Hannahs friends is having her baby tomorrow .I don't think she will be able to be at the wedding as she is having a C Section . Hannah (the friend ) is one of Hannah's oldest friends from Nursery and School so she is going to be gutted not to be at the wedding . Another of Hannah's friends is leaving her 6 week old baby girl for a night !!. Her husband and Grandma will be on tender-hooks watching over Baby .

Gillx Report 22 Nov 2018 20:09

Those rechargeable batteries are great, I bought some for Sandra when we got the camera for her and like you said Mel it works out cheaper in the long run to buy those instead of normal batteries all the time.

How are you getting on with your Angel wings, you work very hard on your crafts.

No I haven't seen our new neighbours yet, I don't know if it's a couple or a family or even someone on their own, although with the size of the extension I doubt it's a single person moving in. I think the extension and all the other work is going to take longer than the 3 months the builder told OH so I can't see anyone moving in until nearer the spring. We offered to put their plants they have in pots down the side of our bungalow for safe keeping but the builder said they were okay where they were. They are lovely plants it would be a shame if they were damaged with the digger in and out. It must be a nuisance though having to move them out of the way all the time.

Yes, it does sound like a complete refurb Jane. The extension is going right along the back of the bungalow to join in with the existing kitchen, so will be about 22ftx14ft. They didn't need planning permission, something to do with permitted development. When we enquired about that you could only build 10ft x 10ft, so it must of changed. It sounds like the houses near you are going up quick, I hope next doors extension is a quick job and is built by Christmas so they are then working inside.

Not started the wings yet Gill.

Did anyone see the moon when it came up tonight. I was going to shut the chickens in and went out the back door and there it was all orange with clouds across it and it looked beautiful. Took a couple of pics but they never come out the same as you see it.

Thanks Frank for the downloads, they did make me chuckle!! Also I'm well into 'the book' and you're quite right, it is excellent. At the moment I'm getting to grips with a new IPad!! My kindle has got very slow and really only fit for reading with. New IPad is brilliant but taking a bit of getting used too. No doubt I shall get there!!! It snowed here yesterday, but didn't last, so stay warm and safe! :-)

Good Morning MEL. "HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO GILL" I hope you have a nice day with Sandra and OH. Wha did they buy you. ??

Weather here is a horrible damp day. Not that cold, when I went to the garage for the steaks for dinner tonight.

My, The new neighbours are certainly going to TOWN on the extension, I expect it's good to get all the work/mess out of the way before moving in.

Liz, I am well into SARUM. there are over 24,000 pages to it. It will rake me a time to get through that. !!! I trust you are both well.?.

Jane it sounds like there is going to be "ONE HELL OF A SHINDIG" with all you party goers. Don't get too drunk, and stay on your feet. We don't need you on crutches !!! lol.

Ros has almost finished her DOORSTOP FATHER CHRISTMAS. For his arms she is using toilet roll inner bits. She will then make little hands to finish it off.

I slept in this morning until 10.00am. Most unusual for me, but with my back and neck pains, it felt nice and comfortable lying down. Ros has bought us both, vibrating neck rolls. I tried mine yesterday, and it made my neck so HOT. I could only use it for a few minutes.

Mel you certainly keep yourself busy, with all your craft work. When do you start making you wreaths ??

SNAP Ann, Ros and I weent to the car wash yesterday. The one we use is Soooo Busy, but yesterday we drove straight in. The lads pounced on the cleaning stuff and it was all done in no time. The dryers off guys, 5 of them had all the door shuts and wiped down and sprayed with some thing to help repel the water. Well I think that it was. lol lol.

Poor old Ros has been landed with taking Carolyn shopping this morning. When I asked why her husband couldn't do it, she just laughed and said, no way would he be seen walking round Tesco. He was to lazy to walk to the local shop to get bread and milk thee other day, and waited until Ros went round, and she took Carolyn to Tesco as she wanted some other things. How the devil will thy manage in Tenerife with Carolyn not being able to drive, I just don't know. Also their trip to the US is going to be difficult.

Simon rang this morning before I got up. He said come over early on Sunday, so we can sit and have a chat before the others arrive. He said both the nephews were looking forward to seeing us again. So it should be a nice get together.

How are the "crocks" getting on with their crutches.?? Getting better everyday I hope.

Meant ro say "REDS,GREENS, and BROWNS, are the worst for me to sort out. WHITE, YELLOW and BLUE seems to be good. But when they are shades that's when I get confused. I am always asking Ros, "WHAT COLOUR IS THAT" and she comes out with some colour, which means nothing to me. lol lol ;-) ;-)

Frank

Frank Report 23 Nov 2018 14:31

Just made a call to HMRC regarding any tax I have to pay this year. NONE. Last year I transferred Ros's married woman's tax allowance, to myself, which I heard of through Martin Lewis's programme. So that's a great savings of over £200.00 a year. Thinking about it now, I think I mentioned it to you all last year.

It's almost DARK here and it's only 2.30 pm. Ros is back from shopping, she walked round with an empty trolly, while Carolyn got what she needed. She will get our bits tomorrow when she meets Martine, for their Saturday meet up.

My tummy was rumbling like mad, when I realised I hadn't eaten, so got a toasted ham and cheese sandwich and a coffee about 1.00 pm. Feel a lot better now.

Hows all your Fridays going, ?? Mine has been uneventful the same as any other day/ ;-) ;-) ;-)

Gillx

Gillx Report 23 Nov 2018 14:51

I'm here Mel

I haven't had an internet connection all morning, not sure why but it's back on now :-)

Thank you everyone for the lovely cards. We all had a laugh at the one you sent Jane, love the cat with the towel around it's head and cucumbers on it's eyes with the saying As it's your BIRTHDAY go on PAMPER yourself... while no one's looking. It had Sandra and I in stitches with laughter. I love all my cards and have them all up on show.

Mum turned up and spent ages here so that was nice, we have got the tree out of the loft but it's not up yet, so I think it's only going to have the lights put on for today, so we can spend more time tomorrow putting all the decorations on.

I rang Chester Zoo before to book tickets for tonight's lantern event but they are fully booked, I'm a bit disappointed but it's my own fault I should of booked it ages ago. I thought you could buy tickets at the door and didn't realise they would only allow so many people in. It's booked for the whole weekend and because we don't know how cold the weather is going to be beyond the weekend we don't want to book until we know it's not going to be freezing. I wouldn't mind but it's quite mild today after the frost we've had for the last few days, so it would of been ideal going
out tonight.

Going to get on with the tree now before it gets dark, the tree is going where I had a lamp so if the lights aren't on the tree soon we're going to be sitting in almost darkness.
