Mel Fairy Godmother Report 25 Nov 2018 11:20

Morning all,

Another dull morning here with grey sky. So whats it like with you lot please?

I wonder how Jane is feeling this morning after her night on the tiles? I do hope she's ok but I bet she's worn out to a rag.

Afternoon all

It started off sunny today but has now clouded over.

OH and Sandra aren't very pleased, the builders turned up just before 9am this morning making lots of noise and it woke them up. I didn't hear and thing and woke up at 10.30 which is very late for me. I think they're starting the brick work for the extension as the concrete went down the other day. I'm surprised they're working on a Sunday though.

Yes, I wonder how Jane is this morning. Can't wait to hear all about it.

Just going to dish up lunch and then watch the final F1 race. I'm recording a Christmas film so we'll be watching that this afternoon, apparently it's Sandra's favourite film "Deck the Halls" so she's going to enjoy it later.

Meant to say the other day, thanks for letting us know about Kirsty's handmade Christmas Mandy, I've put it on the planner for Sandra and I to watch together.

I hope Frank's ok and is enjoying the dinner.

Afternoon All,

What a dull day it's been. We decided to lunch at home today and go to the carvery at Lutterworth tomorrow instead. It starts to get noisy on Sundays near Christmas with family get togethers. Tomorrow it will be quieter and also a bit cheaper! So we had an easy Sainsbury's chicken and ham puff pastry pie with mash, leeks, cabbage, broc, carrots, swede and gravy. There's enough veg left over for me to do some soup with as well.

I've spent the rest of today finding various casseroles/saucepans to photograph and send to the lady who bought MIL's saucepan the other day. She definitely wants the casseroles and I just need to see if she wants anymore saucepans now. It will be a bit more space made if she does!! :-)

I think Jane said she would be home late afternoon/evening. I wonder if she got any sleep last night. lol. I bet they had a good time, but I would really be feeling my age this morning! :-S

Mel, if I lived nearer I would share a table at the fair with you. <3 I've never done one yet but will need to at some point and I think it's better if you have someone to chat to and cover for loo breaks. You say you haven't much stuff, but could you do some of the candle decorations you make?

Gill, that's what got to us with the builders and then when they redid the new neighbours back garden opposite. Some of the deliveries were just after 7.00am!! It's no joke is it. Have you got all that info on your tree now?

Two were killed and another two injured when a car smashed into the central reservation near the retail park on Friday. Then this morning the Air Ambulance was crossing over our garden several times. We wonder if something else has happened as we thought it may be looking to land in the field at the back of us.

Well done finding that for Frank Mandy. :-D I had a quick look and couldn't find it. I wonder if he is thinking of doing some more, I hope so as it was interesting.

Talk of Franks lunch has reminded me there was an apple crumble choice......yum yum!

I am trying to have a go at some Christmas decs with cones so can't stop.

Sounds like you had a good day today then Ann sorting out your pots and pans. You hav'nt got anything in white enamel have you? Em next door likes that and I have a small covered roaster for her for Christmas and gave her what mum called her enamel pie dish. The other one was a bit

Gillx

Gillx Report 25 Nov 2018 17:54

I hope the lady wants the pans Ann, like you said it'll make some space for you. How sad the car accident and so close to Christmas to. I feel for the families involved. I wonder why the air ambulance was over your garden, hope it wasn't to serious.

No I haven't got everyone on my tree yet Ann, I think it's going to take a while as there are about 100, maybe more. It'll keep me busy for a while lol.

OH spoke to the brick layers as they were leaving, they said the grounds men will be back tomorrow to lay the concrete floor then the brick layers will be back on Wednesday when the concrete is set. In the meantime he's been told they are going to make a start on inside the bungalow tomorrow, so I imagine it's going to be even more noisy.

We had a peep over the fence before, we do it each evening to make sure they're not putting anything heavy up against our fence again, the last thing we want is for it to fall down. They have bricked up to floor level and everywhere is very clean and tidy. If I hadn't of seen the van outside I would never of known they were there today, they are so quiet. The only noise they made today was cutting the blocks which is what woke Sandra and OH up this morning, but apart from that it's been fairly quiet. At this rate I think it might all be finished by Christmas, then hopefully the birds will come back and Sandra will be happy. She's very disappointed they haven't been to the feeder with all the people around.

It would be a good idea to share a stall Mel. I'm sure your crafts will sell themselves, they're so lovely. It would be a shame not to go after all your hard work. How are you getting on with your Christmas decs with cones?

Jane Report 25 Nov 2018 18:24

HELLO :-D :-D :-D... Oh my word I am on my knees now after a very long day and evening . I dont know where to begin really. My brain is all a bit befuddled from exhaustion .Not hangover :-D

The day started with indoor crazy golf which was such good fun We were all in teams of four for the 9 holes.Drinks were taken around with us and Hannah was in a Tutu ,Veil and golf visor. It was quite a place called Swingers .We had lunch there before moving on to a very posh place called The Ned where it was more drinks and the little gifts given to Hannah when sje had to guess who they were all from. All quite civilised. She hadn't realised that she would be staying overnight there so that was a lovely surprise .BUT then when we left she was made to put on an inflatable Willy!!!!!. From head to toe. It was a bit of a struggle gettng her into it and the doorman came and gave a hand :-D. This was all on the pavement outside Ned as it would not have been allowed inside. Eventually when she was in it and itwas inflated we then had to walk across the road to the tube station and get down on to the Tube!!!!! Down the big escalator ,onto the platform and then on the tube. I have to say I felt so sorry for her but she went with it and it was all so hilarious . Everyone on the tube were taking pics and having their pics taken with her.We then went to a Bar which was so packed it was like Sardines and so loud .It was a bit crazy and I was glad to get out of there after an hour when we then moved on to the next place for Dinner. .which was amazing. I got to to stage where I began to feel really sick but I think it was fro total exhaustion .So I had to leave before the meal was over. Gareths Mum left wth me and we got a taxi bcak to Hannah's place. I just dropped into bed with earplugs as a party was going on upstairs. Hannah and friends went on to a Gay Nightclub after the dinner and were there until 4 am . It was quite a day and an experience I will remember for ever . Especially Hannah in this inflatable Willy and on the tube :-D :-D
I think that is all I can say for now . I am just looking forward to crashing out tonight (as long as my brain switches off :-S ) I think that has given you all a jist of the celebrations :-D

Gillx Report 25 Nov 2018 18:58

I'm not surprised you were worn out Jane, that was definitely a fun packed day and evening. It sounded great fun, but not the feeling poorly bit. I bet you were glad to get back to Hannah's for a rest. I can imagine everyone taking pics of Hannah. Good on her for walking around and taking the tube with an inflatable willy, I don't think I'd of been that brave, especially with people taking pictures. She sounds like a woman with a good sense of humour. It was nice of Gareth's mum to leave with you, I bet she was tired to. What did people buy Hannah, did she manage to guess who bought her what?
I hope you have a good night sleep, now your home. Not long now to the big day. <3

Annx

Annx Report 25 Nov 2018 19:41

What a day you had Jane! Like Gill said, it was nice of Gareth's mum to see you home!! lol Not much fun feeling poorly in a strange place though. I think I'd have panicked if someone tried to encase me in a willy, I hope it wasn't too tight and that you got a pic of her yourself. I'm wondering what the other gifts Hannah got were too. I bet you will sleep like a log tonight. I see your local police have given up the Baseball caps as part of their uniform.

What a shame the building work has scared the birds away Gill. I hope Sandra gets to see them and that the noise doesn't keep them away. It does sound as if they are going to be quick doing the extension which will be good. Better to get the noise over with quickly. The Air Ambulance may have been to do with something happening on the M1 as we are only 2 fields away. We used to see the Police helicopter quite often shining it's beam around.

Better get ready to see the last of the David Attenborough series. These young presenters don't seem to be a patch on him, even as old as he is now! Too many try to present themselves instead of the programme. OH said he was here in the city on Armistice Day. I've seen him before, but it would have been nice to see him again.

Gillx

Gillx Report 25 Nov 2018 21:44

Just seen the picture you sent of Hannah Jane, she was a good sport walking around in it. :-)

Yes, by the sounds of what the workman was telling OH Ann, I don't think the work it going to take to long to do especially the extension, so long as the weather holds up. I was watching the weather forecast on Countryfile before and they reckon we're in for some pretty bad weather with heavy rain and gales, so that may delay things for a few days. Once it's all finished I'm sure the birds will be back and Sandra can enjoy watching them again.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 26 Nov 2018 01:20

OMG how brave was that of Hannah. I think I would have died if that was given to me to wear and go on the tube in it. She was a good sport to go with it was'nt she? Bless her.

Hope you feel better today Jane after a sleep in your own bed.

Off to bed now myself.

Did'nt do much with the cones but did get some glitter on them.

Morning all,

The Hymne comes to mind this morning.

Earth stood still as iron,
Water like a stone.

Everywhere is white this morning yes solid frost. I am going to have to thaw out all the chicken drinkers as I did'nt empty them last night. I thought it was warmer yesterday but the frost came down when it got completely.

I hope Jane is more rested this morning and Hannah is ok too.

I should go to Holsworthy today for chicken food but oh won't let me out till the frost clears. The sun is out so it should'nt be too long.

Annx

Annx Report 26 Nov 2018 10:55

Morning All,

No frost like that here Mel, it must have looked quite pretty. The girls wouldn't have liked their water frozen though!

That was a good pic of Hannah in the Willy Jane! It didn't look quick to get out of if you were taken short though. :-) lol. That will be one for her to show any grandchildren!

Better get showered now ready to go out with OH, then the factory shop........the sun has started to shine. :-)

Gillx

Gillx Report 26 Nov 2018 10:58

Morning Mel, morning all

It' s quite cold here to Mel, but not frosty. Hope it clears soon for you so you can go to Holsworthy.

The builders have made a start on the inside of the bungalow along with the grounds men doing outside so it's quite noisy. They have piled the old doors and fireplaces, plus a few other bits and pieces on our new fence in the front. Luckily it's resting mainly on the concrete post so hopefully it won't damage the actual fence. OH had a word and ask them not to put anything there but they just added more stuff. So long as the weight isn't on the fence just on the post it's okay. Hopefully they'll move it all soon. They said they wanted to put the carpets in the skip first. There's lots of knocking and banging inside so we think they are taking the bathroom out to make way for the new ensuite and also getting the small bedroom ready for the new bathroom. My only concern is when they cut through the side of the bungalow to make a hole for the new window in the back bedroom, it needs moving from the back to the side, so there will be lots of dust. I hope it doesn't come into Sandra's bedroom to much through the air vent. She's still asleep at the moment so she must be tired if she hasn't heard anything as the noise even woke me up this morning which doesn't normally happen, so it's louder than ever.

Just watching George Clarks old house new house I recorded ages ago with OH, it's very interesting as he find out about the history of the house to.

Gillx Report 26 Nov 2018 11:00

Didn't see you there Ann. Have a nice day out, hope it's not to cold for you.

Frank Report 26 Nov 2018 11:20

Good morning Mel, and all.

Jane, it sounds like a JOLLY TIME was had by all. What a good SPORT Hannah was to dress as a "WILLY" I bet the passengers on the underground wondered what was going on. lol lol

Thanks to Mandy I have part two of my memories, I have saved it now, and will print it as well,so I have a hard copy. Ros wants to read it when it's ready.

It's a pity th noise is keeping the birds away from the feeders Gill. It won't be long before the noise dies down, and all gets back to normal.

Ann, Did you find out any more details of that nasty accident, and the Air Ambulance ? I find I get interested when the POLICE Helicopter spends time hoovering over the M1 jcn, 15 just up the road from us. Wondering who they are tracking and what they have done.

We had a very enjoyable day yesterday. We arrived about 11.30 and sat in the kitchen with Sally and Simon while they were cooking everything for dinner. My Nephews and their wives arrived about 1.00 pm. We all sat around with Coffee/Tea Beer or wine until we were called into the dinning room. As head of the family I was seated at the head of the table, and said a few words of welcome.

Everything went off perfectly, The food was wonderful. The RIB OF BEEF was carved at the table by Simon. It was enormous, and would have cost a BOMB. They will be eating beef for some time to come.

They all complimented me on how well I looked for 80 years old, give or take aa few weeks. It turns out one of their daughters is 23 the same day as me. We worked it out that it had been 26 years since last we meet. I hope it won't be that long before we meet again. ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-)

Now I'm back in the real world, I will have to sort what we will have to eat tonight.

See you later.

I see I am "Billy no mates" I have felt terrible all morning. I have tripped over the doorstep twice , but without falling down. My neck and shoulder is really playing me up today. Could be the weather isn't helping

The bins are out, ready for collection tomorrow. I have al;so made a chicken casserole for dinner tonight, and peeled th Potato's. Ros isn't feeling great either. She rang the doctor this morning but no spare slots, so will try again tomorrow. She had a very comprehensive letter from the Heart Nurse going through and listing everything thy have done and what the MRI showed. No mention of when another STENT is likely to be fitted. She wouldn't want it done this side of Christmas anyway.

Turned really dark here, with very low clouds. I won't be surprised to see rain later. Not got any plans to go out, so it can do what it likes. ;-) ;-) ;-)

Afternoon all,

Really cold here today ,i've just got back from walking Max and was glad to get back in the warm even Max got in front of the fire to warm up he's now on the sofa having his nap.

That's good you've saved your memories Frank so you can print it off when you want .
Glad yesterday went off ok it must have been nice to have a good catch up with your nephews .

Oh Jane :-D poor Hannah :-0 :-D she was a good sport dressing up and then having to travel about in it .
It sounds as if you enjoyed yourself shame you felt poorly though and had to leave early ,it takes some doing i think to keep up with the young ones .
Hope there wasn't to any sore heads yesterday.

Gill it sounds like the builders next door are cracking on with the work ,i suppose a bit of noise is to be expected really at least your indoors at this time of the year and not out in the garden where you would have heard a lot more of the noise .

Roast Chicken for us tonight .

Annx Report 26 Nov 2018 15:31

We seem to have missed having it so cold. OH didn't need his big coat and I went out without any coat to go for lunch, but when the sun went in it did get a lot chillier. Where we eat, the girl who usually serves us said she had our tray and jug of water all ready for us yesterday! lol. Blow me the lady who was carving and seems to be in charge of the kitchen wondered where we were yesterday as well and said they had LAMB on the carvery yesterday!!!! They have never had lamb since we have been going there, then the first time they do we missed it!! :-S She said it will be on next Sunday as well, so we'll make sure we don't miss it next week. It's nice to see the Christmas trees in the places we go to, but we've had to move to other tables twice. The tree lights look pretty but not when they are a couple of feet away and flashing on and off.

Gill, the way the builders are getting on with things it sounds as if you will get a lot of noise but it will be over with sooner which is good. It's a bit naughty of them to lean things on your fence though. Even the posts could end up leaning if they aren't careful. They should have got the carpets up first and skipped them, but I expect they may want to carry the mess they are making inside out with the carpets to save so much clearing up. The place is going to look very different after they have finished, it sounds like they are gutting it completely.

It sounds like you had a lovely time at Simon's Frank. After all that time your nephews must have looked very different now. Did anyone take photos? Sorry to hear you have tripped twice this morning. I think sometimes you wrench your muscles as much tripping as falling and it shakes you up as well. I hope Ros gets an appointment tomorrow. We never had any trouble years ago did we. No more news about the accident. OH said it was a big 4x4 BMW that crashed into the central barrier, no other car involved. I know cars can sometimes develop steering/tyre problems but it does make you wonder, and what speed must they have been doing to kill 2 of them. It is a 50mph limit. I love the way these things get reported eg 'the car left the road etc' what all on it's own? No news about the Air Ambulance yet either. Bin day here tomorrow for recycling. OH says it's full to the brim so no chance it will blow over!

Mandy, young Max has his priorities right doesn't he. lol A morning constitutional walk, then a cosy nap on the sofa by the fire!! lol. Does he complain if you try to move him? I remember a house where mum worked when I was little had a Golden Retriever called Lindy. Once she lay on the hearthrug mum had to shift her with the broom and she grizzled no end.

I wonder if Mel made it to Holsworthy to get what she wanted.
