Evening All
I really must have a chat with Chris about POA.I think it will have to wait until after the wedding though :-D My Sister and I had joint POA for Mum although it was me who dealt with all the monies ,like payment for the Care home and all bank things were sent to me.I am so glad we did it even though it took a while to persuade Mum it was the best thing. I think we just did it in time before her Dementia took hold.

Gill I am sorry about the Loo crashing into your fence and breaking it :-S. The new neighbour sounds very approachable and seems like he is a good sort ,so fingers crossed he will keep to his word and put things right .
It is not surprising you have a banging head .
The wind had been bad here today and when I was driving past Wicksteed Park there was a loud bang on the roof of the car. It must have been a bit of a branch. I half expected a big dent but it looks fine so that was a lucky escape.

I have had such a bad back and hip today but have managed to get some cleaning done and Hannahs bed made up for tomorrow . Chris has been brilliant and hoovered right through the house . I just need to do the bathroom tomorrow .

Just had a call from Hannah to ask if I coud go and pick the wedding dress up on Saturday morning as she will be strapped for time. She has work to get done for some presentation she has to do and also go and see her friend Hannah who had a baby girl last Friday. So I have said to Chris we can both go to Stamford for the dress. I thought he would have said he didnt want to go . We can have a coffee in one to the many places in Stamford and have a potter . Thinking about it though it may well be heaving there on a Saturday so I might ring the shop and see if I can pick the dress up tomorrow.

I like the sound of The Yorkshire Farm programme . Mel I watched Death and Nightingales too and also found it dark and someties a bit hard to hear what was being said. Watched the Mrs Wilson this afternoon on catch up and thought it was very good so I'm looking forward to next week.
Funny Frank how you remembered it is always James and me going to buy the Xmas tree. I wont be getting a massive tree . Just a 5 footer. I wonder how big Fitz's tree will be this year.He is still away in Pembrokeshire (hopefully not been blown away in the gales) so this will be the first year he will not have been to pick up the Tree. His Son Tom was having to do it I think.
Need to check the oven

I always remember you going with James to get the tree too Jane.

Its called Our Yorkshire Farm and its on channel 5. They are a smashing family.

I had an email message this mroning from someone who is related to me from Melbourne Australia. Her paternal gt grandfather is the same as my gt gt grandfather so I have been looking at my tree again. I did'nt have this persons hubby on my tree. I hope she comes back to me as I got a bit muddled up with my Hilda's as I have a Hilda Ailey and a Hilda Chignell which is the one we connect with.

I did take a pic of the big cone I decorated though and now I am not susre if I want to keep it for myself.

I'll send a pic.

So Gill you have a new tree then. I suppose this one dos'nt have snow on it as I know you said it sheds all over the place.

Morning all.

We have sunshine and rain and we.ve had a rainbow coming right down into the garden this morning just inside the west wall.

Heard from Natalie again this morning and she is going to send me a pic of Hilda and herself which will be really nice to recieve.

Have to do the Advent ring today for the church so won't be about much.

Morning Mel, and all,

Blue sky's and wind here Mel, Ros has taken Carolyn to the hospital for a checkup on her foot, then they will do their shopping, so don't know when to expect her home

Tomorrow the couch at Milton (next village) are decorating the village for Christmas. For whatever reason Ros is taking Carolyn, I think they are decorating the church also, so that might be their reason for going.

Run out of INK (both ) in the printer. I have ordered some more on line, together with a new wall heater for the bathroom wall, th one in there kept cutting out. Might be because of dust inside. I will get Harvey to fit it, together with some other jobs I need doing, that I am unable to do.

Another bad night last night. My HIP and shoulder ar giving me a lot of discomfort with my arthritis, which I am sure isn't helped by this weather.

That was a good buy Gill, Ros will be nagging me now to get the boxes in from the garage so she can put the tree up and decorate it.

By the way all. I won't be sending cards out again this year. I have donated FOUR BALES OF HAY/STRAW to a horse sanctuary. It came out of the blue from an appeal on FB. I am sure you will all understand. I will send one through the Email system. By the firm who's name evades me at the moment.

I don't blame you Jane, getting Hannah's dress before the SATURDAY CRUSH in Stamford. It's bound to be busy from now on.

Thanks for the advise about POA. It hadn't crossed my mind. I will have to sort it out with the boys , sooner rather than later. ;-) ;-) ;-)

I had a long chat (half an hour) with my Nephew John, who lives in Harlow. As usual it was my call, and we put the world to right again. lol lol

Have decided on Rib Eye Steak for tonight. ONE between us, as w are not eating that much lately, and I hate to waste food.

It's nice to see David popping in, now and agin. I wonder how the other Anne is, and Will and Carmel. ???

I had better get my A@@e into gear and get the bed made and hoover through while Madam is out. It will see her doing it.

Have a safe day my sweets, whatever you might be doing. xxx

Frank Report 30 Nov 2018 15:45

Thanks Mel, just reminded me to send the card for Gareth and Hannah. I have just written it,and Ros can post it, when she goes out again.Which no doubt be tomorrow.

Billy no mates again, Ros has been out since 9.45 this morning.

Val next door came calling lunchtime. As I opened the door she said "CAN YOU HEAR US SHOUTING" No what's up ?? He's shouting at me to get my ears syringed. " came to ask where I can get them done" my reply of course was the NURSE. Oh alright and with that ,she turned tail and made for the door. She looks so weak and ILL. She really needs constant attention, which I know she won't get from Tony. I feel inclined to ring the Doctors and voice my concerns, BUT, there is always a BUT. What if they take notice AND SEND A HEALTH VISITOR, They will wonder who had reported it. I'm between the devil and the deep blue sea.

Lovely sunset here, I imagine, looking at th sky, it might well get colder tonight.

I am still wondering what surprise Conrad has in store for me, on my Birthday. I really can't think of any other thing, other than what I said last week.

I had a ham and pickle sarnie at lunchtime with a mug of CUPASOUP. Very nice it was too. Everything is ready for dinner tonight, all I have to is cook it.

I have only got another THIRTY SEVEN HOURS to read in my book. !!!!

Afternoon All,

Yes, it was a wise move Jane fetching the dress today instead of tomorrow. I bet it was still busy on a Friday though! The time's whizzing by now as you say Mel; won't be long till Jane's getting dolled up for the DAY!

That will be nice to see a pic of Hilda Mel. You never know what will turn up doing FH do you! How is the Advent Ring coming along and did you find enough greenery? I finally cracked what my mistake was with my beading last night. I thought I knew the pattern without looking......MISTAKE!!!! I never learn.

We were with the BIG cats today. lol My friend is having a SHE SHED before Christmas and her hubby has had his ordinary shed delivered and erected. I think he makes walking sticks and they were going to share a shed, but she cleverly talked him into having his own. ;-) ;-) I'm dying to see hers as it is all rot proof plastic wood like the ones we were looking at last summer, more a studio really. Benji was in a floppy, chin tickling mood this morning. They both get a treat at 11.00am and Rupert lets my friend know it is time, going up to her and making the chirruping noise they make. She fetches the box and they both follow her and sit down and wait patiently. When she asks the younger one for his paw he lifts it up to be shaken. The huge fat Squirrel was on the feeders as usual and my friend was showing us their dreys in the Spinney at the bottom of their garden. I had always thought they had them in holes in trees, but they build them of twigs among the branches. If I'd seen one before I would have thought it was a Magpie's nest.

I met OH for a carvery just down the road after and he went off to another meeting after and I came home. He's had such a busy week of meetings this week he had a headache by last night, so I think it will be an early night again tonight. This morning he found some of our trellis has blown over in the wind, so that's another job to do.

Mandy I like your idea of the tree outside with lights on. They look really pretty. Where do you feed your lights outside from or do you have a plug in box outside?

Sorry you had a bad night with your back and hip Frank. I had a good one! I think you are right about the weather affecting these things as my knees have creaked more the last day or two. Good idea to donate the feed to the Horse Sanctuary. Every little helps doesn't it.

Gill, you got a bargain tree at the charity shop didn't you. I expect you have been busy getting the lights on and decorating it. What will you do with the snowy one now? Like Ros, I think it's time we got a new one as a few lights have gone a bit dim on our prelit one. I would get a smaller one, the size jane is getting so I could reach to decorate it without standing wobbling on something, but I know OH will want one that's near the ceiling again. I hope there haven't been anymore worrying incidents with the builders next door.

Gill I can't see where you said what your favourite colours were? Did Sandra inherit a love of PINK from you? :-D

What a difficult situation with Val Frank. She doesn't sound good at all. Didn't she have a nurse visit a little while ago? Mind you, if she told them she didn't want help I don't suppose they can make her till something happens. Have you written out or printed your Family Tree to send or are you emailing it?

Afternoon All

Yes I have the dress :-D :-D. It was quite funny as I rang to see if it was ok for me to collect it rather than Hannah tomorrow. The lady said she had to have confirmation from Hannah that it was fine with her. Well I knew I would not be able to contact her this morning so the lady said If Hannah was there she could speak on the phone.I realised that she was saying I could pretend to be Hannah LOL So I said oh yes I think she is out the back somewhere and called for Hannah . I then said "hello Hannah here , yes I give permission for Mum to pick up my dress" LOLOL What a daft performance. But it is all to do with legal and insurance things. It is now hanging on one of my wardrobes. Chris carried it along the streets and said he wondered if people might have thought it was us getting married :-D :-D. It was so busy in Stamford but we did manage to get a parking space not too far from the shop. I wonder if it might have been market day there. Its such a lovely little town with soem nice looking shops that I would love to have a nose around. Some very expensive shops though too.
So that is another job done now.

Frank,I think that is such a lovely idea of yours buying bales of Hay for the Horse Sanctuary instead of Xmas Cards. I always say each year I should do something like that but somehow always end up with cards :-S. I do like sending cards though.

I think I am going to have quite a little pile of cards for Hannah and Gareth :-DWhat with all you and then friends and neighbours here, and the biggest most spectacular one made by Mel :-D :-D. Mel I shall make sure Hannah knows that it was you who has made it .She is going to treasure it I am sure.

What a great bargain was your new tree Gill :-D :-D :-D. Is this a shop you often visit? I know Fitz's OH buys many of her clothes in Charity shops and has some really lovely things.

I have a dratted sore throat and a bit of a gubbinsy cough :-S :-S No doubt picked up on the Hen Do !. We stopped off a t a Chemist on the way back from Stamford so I have now got Day and Night Nurse yet again. The Pharmacist was saying how many people are getting this second time around just after barely shifting the first cold.

Ann, those cats sounds so flipping gorgeous . I loved the way you described how well they waited for their 11am treats. Giving a paw too just like a dog :-D
My little herbert came in earlier covered again in sticky bobbles and wet leaves stuck on the back of his legs. He has been out there rummaging in the undergrowth somewhere. He has gone again now

Mel that will be lovely if you get some pics from Natalie :-D

Poor Val Frank I think unless you are worried for her safety I am not sure what you can do really. I do feel so sorry for her and angry that her selfish husband is not more caring :-S
I have done a Chicken Casserole for tonight. H&G wont be here until much later maybe near 9. So Chris and i will eat first. I am just waiting for the potatoes to boil and I will get them mashed. I need to thicken up the casserole now with good old Bisto.
James is overnight in Nottingham tonight with work . I have a feeling it is a meal and a bit of a pub crawl .

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 30 Nov 2018 18:25

O good you managed to get the dress ok after a bit of a perfomance by the sounds of it. I hope Garethdos'nt see it hanging up on your wardrobe. Its unlucky for him to see the dress before she walks down the aisle.

Yes I managed to get plenty of green stuff. With the high wind we have had lately there was a big branch of Nordic fire just outside on Phil's bank which had come off one of the trees in the front where oh used to own. Went down the road to through the woods and there across the raod was a huge branch of the fluffy stuff. Before that I cut some holly berries off of the tree at the edge of Phil's field across the road and when I came back from the wood I got some moss so all I need now is some yellow stuff from Em as I managed to get some off our tree for the Advent Ring but there's not enough long enough to cut for the wreaths.

I did the ring for the church this afternoon and finished it just as it got dark. I still have to make a couple of bows and attach it to the stand and put the candles in once its in the church. There is not a service till 9th Dec when two candles will be lit.

It does sound to me as if Val needs some help but I can see you're point of view Frank as they are bound to know its you if you report her needing help. A bad situation for you to be in but I do think she needs to see the nurse about her ears. Perhaps Ros could have a word with her to get her to make an appointment.

I hav'nt anything out for dinner tonight so I am hoping to get away with toasted cheese sandwiches.

I bet Gill has been busy today decorating the new tree. Sandra will be so excited with whats going on.

Ann you should take a look at Balsam trees. Thats where I bought mine last year and I was really pleased with it. We stand ours on the old telly stand mum had which makes it taller.

Evening all,

I suppose you can understand it Jane as anyone could pick a dress up although
i don't suppose she would really know Hannah's voice on the phone so it was a bit silly really ,but you did go with her to the shop so the lady would have seen you with Hannah .
At least that's another job done ,you just have to make sure Thomas doesn't get his claws on it ,keep that door closed !!!
You'll have to dose yourself up well and get rid of that cold Jane .

Ann we usually open the front window and put the wire for the lights through and then gently closed the window with out nipping the wire .
Fancy the cat giving his paw bless him.
I too thought that Squirrels went into a hole in the tree to nest so maybe the big nests in the trees which i always thought were the big old Crows nests could well be a Squirrels nest .

Frank i think it a brilliant idea of buying bales of Hay for the Horse Sanctuary :-D

There's a Christmas fair in the church tomorrow with Father Christmas so might see i the little ones want to go
Sunday is the town lights switch on , this year they are being switched on by a little boy called Denver who has been having treatment for cancer so i think it will be a good turn out for him as sadly last Friday the family were told nothing more can be done for him and he has two to three months left ,people are being asked to help with making memories for him so there's a party next week for him and he having a sleigh ride and i'm sure there will be lots more things arranged for him if he's well enough it's so very sad .

Good morning all,

!st December already, soon be Christmas, then NEW YEAR.

Horrible wet day here, no going out for me. Ros has just gone off with Carolyn to see the Church at Milton being decorated, there are over THIRTY TREES. So should look smashing when all lite tp.

Mandy, you have just bought a tear to my eye :-( :-( :-( Thinking off that little boy, How old is he.?? I do hope he dosen't suffer in his last few month. He and his family are in my thoughts. xxx It's this time of year that I remember so well, nursing my FATHER with Cancer, not a happy time for me.

Glad you were able to get the dress Jane. Yes, you will have to keep Gareth away from your BEDROOM lol lol. Not to be taken the wrong way... Ho ho ho.!!!!

You are well on your way Mel with your wreaths, how many do you make each year. ?? Talking of which we must get over to the cemetery, to leave our flowers and wreath on Ros's Mum and Dad's grave. I don't know if my families children bother with my Mum and dad's grave, at Woodford Bridge. It's just too far for us to go down there.

Jane I have a job writing these days, shaky hand. and tend to write at a slant, so donating to a good cause, seemed a good idea. Not that I won't be thinking of all of you, at Christmas time xxx

Ann it seems you are spoilt for choice, regarding places to eat. We only have a couple that we like. Those cats sound adorable who would think of a cat SHAKING HANDS. lol Those sheds sound a good idea. Will she do her beading in hers ?? and what will her OH use his for ??

So everything is getting going at yours Gill. I bet Sandra is over the moon decorating the new tree. How are the builders getting along, no damage to your fence I hope. In this weather it will take a long time for concrete and brickwork to dry out. Have you been told when they are likely to move in ??

I wasn't able to forward my Family tree, I will ask one of the boys or LEWIS to help me.

I have been thinking of my poor neighbour Val, I wonder if Tony is looking after her, as she seems to be like "DEATH WALKING"

I had a bad night again. Watched the JUNGLE then into bed. Was still awake when Ros came in at MIDNIGHT. and carried on clock watching will after THREE. I tried to have a lie in this morning, but to no avail, Once Ros was up and about at 8.00 am I soon followed. So a few zzz are in order for this afternoon.

I do hope you have a pleasant day, doing whatever you are doing. Will try to catch up later. xxxx

Annx Report 1 Dec 2018 13:40

Afternoon All,

Thanks so much for the link Mel, they do some beautiful, realistic trees don't they including the narrower ones I prefer nowadays. I like some of those with the more spaced branches too as I have a job to find spaces for the bigger baubles on ours. Even the flat back ones are tempting as you don't really see the back of the tree. Not sure it will be this year I will get one as I'm trying to dissuade OH from climbing in and out of the loft to get all the baubles and tree down till the eye clinic are happy with his eyes. His next appointment is this month. I think it best if we just have the little twig tree I made and the icicle tree I did that stand on the cabinets. Knowing him though, he will sneak a few more things down as he loves the house all decorated!! I've saved the link though, as they are some of the best trees I've seen. :-D That's good you have got your advent ring ready. I was thinking of you the other day when I watched a leather worker on a Kirstie prog. I wondered if you could bind your fingers in places like she had to help your fingers doing the wire for the wreaths? She'd done it so she could pull the thread tight with her hands. It might not help if it's mostly your fingertips you use though.

That was lucky the lady let you collect Hannah's dress Jane. I expect they have to be careful as Mandy says as they don't want dresses going missing. Will she be travelling to the venue from your place or will Gareth move out of the flat for the one night before the event to keep with tradition! :-) Stamford is pretty with it's old buildings. I have only been to potter around a few times.

Silly me I was thinking of the size of cable on a kettle Mandy, but they are thin on the lights aren't they. I must try one through our windows like that as I think the rubber seals would have room for to take a thin cable through. How sad about that little boy. I hope he gets to do most of the things they are planning for him. It does bring a lump to your throat thinking what he and his family are facing.

I've managed to download The Yorkshire Farm and OH wants to see it too.

Frank it's a shame your sleep is so poor just now. I have spates of struggling, but lately it's been better. I think the darker nights help me, also now all the building and early morning noise has stopped. I think the dog next door must be getting a bit deaf as well as we don't hear him so often, mostly when the cacophony of the bin lorries arrive or someone walks to our front door! Yes, my friend's shed is for her beading and other crafts she does. It will be lovely in the summer as two sides are up to woodland. Her hubby will be doing his walking sticks and other things in his. I think she was glad he wouldn't be making any mess in hers. :-)

Well here we are 1st December where has the year gone

Dreary old day here it's been raining since we got up and by the look of the sky it's here to stay
We went to Lidl for a few bits and called in for a coffee with son and DIL ,i don't think we are doing much this afternoon i did think about going to the Christmas fair but it finished at 1 o'clock so to late.

Frank i think Denver is about seven or eight poor little boy it's so sad
Thirty trees in the church should look lovely when they are all decorated and lit up .
Our church always seems to be behind when it comes to being decorated ,they never even have a tree decorated for when the little ones go in to do the nativity plays .

How is the tree decorating going Gill ?you got a bargain with the tree from the charity shop .

Sounds as if you managed to get plenty of green stuff for the church Advent Ring
Mel ,was there any over for your Wreaths ?

Afternoon all,

Don't know where the morning went and I did'nt get much done at all. I still hav'nt done the advent rings other bows or got it sown the church yet.

Yes I got plenty of stuff for my wreaths. I usually only make about 10 now and some flower arrangements with candles in.

I spoke to Ann at the shop this morning and she is having a stall at the fayre in the village this year and I am going to go halves with her as the girl who usually goes halves with her can't make it this year. She said she thinks the cost is £10 a stall unless its gone up this year. Its on the 6th Dec at 3pm which seems a funny day to me as thats a Thursday and the village hall is right next door to the school and I think they come out at 3.15 or 3.30pm.

That poor little boy and his family my heart goes out to them all. Why do children have to suffer so????????????

Had some pictures from Natalie this morning and she is beautifull. She's 42. I keep getting in such a muddle with the rellies now I have to keep looking at my tree to see who they were connected to!! Senior moments all round. :-( :-( :-(
Well I better go and do this ring and get it up the church before it gets dark.

Afternoon all,

Still a horrible rainy day here. Ros came home about 1.00 pm She said the church looks a treat, they had a COT and cake. At lunchtime the women are doing A cauldron of hot soup with bread rolls, i's open until 4.00, so hope they get plenty of people through the door.

I had my new inks for the printer today, so have printed my Memories Part one and two. I will have another read of them some time, and I know Ros and Simon will want a nosey through them. Also the new fan heater for the bathroom. I might turn off the electric tomorrow morning ,and try to fit it myself. Don't worry I won't electrocute myself. lol lol

Doing my utmost not to sleep this afternoon, so I will be tired tonight, and hopefully get a good nights sleep for a change. I have felt totally out of salts today. I have one of my terrible headaches, this comes now and again and stems from a Blood Clot on my brain, from when some garages I was dismantling collapsed on my head. together with all my ailments. I think I need PUTTING DOWN. ;-) ;-) ;-)

Mandy I still can't get little DEVNER out of my mind. What must it be like for his family at this time of the year. It doesn't bare thinking of. :-( :-( :-( :-(

Not sure if we will want a takeaway tonight, as I had hot rolls with cheese and pickle, Ros had roll and Mushroom soup.

Driving home just now I couldn't believe how many Christmas trees I could see in windows and how many outdoor trees are lit up already.

Frank, the churches do look lovely with the decorated trees and it seems to be catching on with more doing it each year. I must see if I can get to see a few new ones this year. Some of these little old churches have some interesting things in them to see as well. It's a chance to have a look as they are often locked up now.
