Hannah's Surname will be Owen She is Keeping the name Dr Rose for work .I am glad she will be known as Dr Rose ...just like her Dad :-D :-D

Will make sure I keep an eye open for your post Ann :-D
Rather you than me Mandy making Unicorn Cake :-D :-D. I am sure you will do a grand job . Mine would be a wreck LOL

Just dishing up dinner now

Annx

Annx Report 3 Dec 2018 19:44

I just got two emails of those pretty cones you have done Mel, but no advent wreath. Are those cones as big as they look? As Mandy says it is lovely to see the things you make.

Good luck with the Unicorn cake Mandy! lol Is it going to be the shape of a Unicorn or will you be modelling one to go on the top? I think if I tried to do one it would end up with an old nag on the top, probably with a gammy leg as well. :-D I'm sure yours will be much better.

I forgot to say I had a titter at your neighbours antics with their cars too Frank.

I see you've had a bit of peace from the builders Gill. I bet your village looks pretty when it is lit up. It must be quite big with all those lights. Are some inside the houses?

Gillx

Gillx Report 3 Dec 2018 19:52

Love the pictures Mel, the cone is lovely. Did you make two cones, I got the same picture twice?

So you're making a unicorn cake Mandy, I've noticed that Unicorns seem to be the in thing at the moment. I'd love to see a picture of the cake when it's finished. Looks like you timed it well taking Max for his walk, with the rain holding off. Have you seen the Amazon advert of the little dachshund in a raincoat, it's so funny?

Sorry to hear you're not well Jane and just when you thought it wasn't going to come to anything. Keep warm and drink plenty, you don't want it going on with the wedding not far away. I hope you feel better soon.

That was thoughtful of you Frank taking some stew around to Val and Tony's. I hope Val get some of it and he doesn't eat it all himself.

Hope you have lots more good night sleeps Ann. I know when I caught up with some sleep after not sleeping very well last week I felt much better for it. Yes, all the Christmas trees are decorated, just the light up village to set up tomorrow and maybe one or two plug in light up things then we're done. I've still got some more presents to wrap for Sandra and all our Christmas cards to write then apart from the baking on Christmas Eve I'll be ready for the big day. I heard Santa on his way around before so Sandra is keeping an ear out for him. I hope he doesn't miss our street out like he did a few years ago, she'll be so disappointed.
I think a garden waste bin is a good idea it would save your OH having to go to the tip. There seems to be a lot of building work going on in your area, hope they keep the nice grassed area, it's sounds lovely with all the daffodils

Gillx

Gillx Report 3 Dec 2018 19:55

Yes, the houses and the church light up on the village Ann I'm hoping to have it finished tomorrow. I don't know what it is, but this year every time I try to do something for Christmas it never seems to go right first time of trying. The new tree turned out lovely in the end though, so hopefully the village will too.

That's nice to have two Dr Rose's in the family Jane :-) and of course a nurse Rose

MillymollyAmanda Report 3 Dec 2018 20:53

Oh Ann i haven't heard Puff the Magic Dragon for years :-D your friend certainly keeps her self busy doesn't she.

The cake will be a round sponge cake topped with fondant and pretty icing flowers piped on the top and a fondant horn and ears ,well that what the picture looks like remains to be seen how mine turns out LOL mine might end up an old nag !!!!!! but i like a challenge :-D

I haven't seen the Amazon advert Gill ill keep a look out for it

Well little Denver turned on the Christmas lights and bless him he's only four !!! i thought he was a little older
He has his name up in lights above the co-op .
There is a fund raising page for him and in three days they have raised enough for him and his family to go to Legoland and see Santa ,it brings a tear to the eye .

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 3 Dec 2018 21:16

Gill you still hav'nt told us about what age your new neighbours are. Are they your age or older?

I found out why the photos kept coming with a failure notice and would'nt go.
My mouse has a bit of a mind of its own and sometime it jumps up the page and I clic k on something I don't want. It had changed my pictures out of the camera to two big ones instead of two small ones. Iv'e got it back to the right size now. Its funny how I do these things and don't look at the screen properly to see what is there. Its all so different now I am on windows 10. Even oh could'nt find my bookmarks on the page or my contacts. Thats another thing I had your addresses on my old pc with your email address but thats not on this pc anymore.

Gillx

Gillx Report 3 Dec 2018 23:33

Sorry Mel, I forgot, the fella mentioned using a bus pass so he's got to be over the age of 65 but he doesn't look it from what I saw looking through the window, I haven't actually met him properly yet. I saw the lady from Sandra's bedroom window today and she looked in her late 50's early 60's.

Your friend is a very good singer Ann, I haven't heard that song since I was a child, my mum had it on an LP.......remember them lol ;-) ;-)

4 years old, that's no age at all Mandy, your post brought a tear to my eye, it's such a shame. He'll love Legoland and seeing Santa and having his name up in lights will make his day....bless him.

I've just noticed the end of your post Mel, if you haven't got our address's on your pc anymore do you need us to send them to you in a PM or have you got them written down somewhere?

I mis-placed the paper I had all your address's on earlier, luckily I found it as I needed to post Frank's birthday card and Hannah and Gareth's wedding card.

I heard Santa going around the streets over the back before but Sandra didn't get to see him in the end as he didn't come down our street. I thought she'd be more disappointed than she was, but she's okay.

I've just counted how many different types of light up things Sandra has in her bedroom and there are 8 in total, including the light up stars I've just added to her Christmas tree which she already had a set of lights on, so that's 2 sets on it. It's like a Grotto in there........she loves it <3 I've almost finished the village, all I have to do now is add a bit of tinsel around the edge to hide the lights underneath, I might add some more lights to the tinsel so it lights up, Sandra will like that. She's hoping to take a photo of it tomorrow, to show her nan and gran. I'll do the tinsel tomorrow as it's getting late now.

Going to watch the end of Kirsty then I'm off to bed before the builders wake us up again.

Morning all,

Was very frosty this morning here and I only know because oh had the heatinng on when I got up. The windows in the bedroom are streaming with water too so I shall have to take my mate the Karcher in there and clear that off.

Donkey Day AGAIN I keep saying this but I don't know where the weeks go lately.

The suns just come out so perhaps its going to be a nice day.

Hope you have all had the pics I sent now if not let me know and I'll try again.

Morning all

Bright and sunny here today

Lovely pic of your cone Mel, you are clever thinking up these things.

The workmen are here and have a radio on with lots of good tunes from the past, I can't hear it in here but it nice to listen to when I venture out in the garden.

I'm hoping to finish the village off today, I just need to secure the lights properly and attach the tinsel to the edges then I'll finish wrapping Sandra's presents and write out my Christmas cards, that should keep me busy this week. I also need to colour my hair at some point to.

Yes, I find the days, weeks are going by very quickly to Mel, it'll soon be 2019

Frank

Frank Report 4 Dec 2018 11:22

Morning Mel and Gill, and all.

Heavy frost this morning, everywhere WHITE.

My did I sleep well last night. Half way through the "JUNGLE" I gave up and went to bed. Didn't hear/feel Ros come to bed. Got out once, and slept until 7.50. I feel like "Wet week" and can't seem to get going, even my shower hasn't woke me up. lol lol

Just rang Tony to see if they wanted more stew, but they still have half a saucepan full from yesterday, which they will have tonight.

Jan rang to say she was at Swindon, and expected to arrive around midday. I asked if she wanted a Roast for tonight, but she is eating at Kerry's around 7.30.She will stay the night with them and travel back tomorrow.

I see Ros is in the Garage sorting out the Christmas tree and various box's, so I had better go and help. See you later.

Frank

Frank Report 4 Dec 2018 13:19

Jan's arrived and we have got the TWO big boxes in, with the tree in them. They are now sorting the branches out. Because the tree is so heavy when dressed, we have a bag of LOGS and two BRICKS that hang at the back of the tree, to stop it falling over. We learnt this at our expense, when the other year, it all collapsed into the lounge, and smashed a lot of baubles.

I am not feeling very good, sweating and shaking, I have had a coffee and sarnie, but still don't feel great. I'm thinking of leaving the girls to get on with things, and go a lay on the bed, and try to sleep.

I have ordered a surprise for Ros. ICED CARAMELS. She loved these as a child and when we were first married. I haven't seen them in any shops for years. So I went on line this morning and found some. I have bought the last THREE packs in stock. She will have a feast over Christmas. !!!

I have no idea what I am going to have for dinner tonight. The way I feel I could do without anything. :-( :-( :-(

Gillx

Gillx Report 4 Dec 2018 17:26

How are you feeling now Frank, did you manage some sleep in the end? I guess your tree is up and decorated now. Good idea to weight the back to stop it falling over.

I've never heard of Iced Caramels, I'll have to Google them. Ros is going to love them if they are her favorites, how nice of you to go to the trouble to find them for her.

I never got around to finishing off the village so just put the tinsel on the top for now. The builders have finished now and seem to be getting on well with the brickwork of the extension. OH said the wall is almost 7ft tall now so it shouldn't be long before the roof goes on.

Watching Kirstie's handmade Christmas with Sandra, it's on every week day at 5pm on channel 4.

Evening All,

Sorry to hear you feel so grim Jane, but bed is the best place when you feel like that. Plenty of rest will help and hopefully you will feel a bit brighter tomorrow. Nurse Thomas will keep you company! :-D

Gill, it sounds like the men are getting on well next door which bodes well for the job not dragging on for ages. I expect the people who have bought it will want to move in as soon as they can. I bet your place looks very Christmassy now with your trees and village. Sandra's room sounds like a magical, winter wonderland!

Got all the pics now Mel and I love the advent ring, the colours look so fresh and bright. Gill's right, you are clever at thinking up all the things you make. :-) Have you sorted all your stuff for the fayre now?

We went to the carvery at the old manor house today. Sharron had told us to book as it is getting busier with Christmas dos. Well we were put on a small table (we usually have a table for 4 so we can read our papers after lunch) with crackers, loads of cutlery, wine glasses etc, yet we only wanted the carvery! By the time they added our jug of water, pot of tea, sugar etc, there was hardly room for us! Luckily we were against a window so we put the surplus things on the window sill. We still felt cramped though, so will just walk in as usual next week without booking and risk not getting a table as there were several bigger tables spare today.

Hope you feel better now Frank and that Jan has done a great job decorating your tree.

We have had a notification that the Office for National Statistics want to interview us, so have arranged for them to come on Friday afternoon. I've never been contacted by them before so I'll be asking for their ID first.

Off to watch the last Kirstie recording now with OH! I didn't think the impressive cake winner on the last prog was what you would call a cake with all the wood and metal in it, more a sculpture made of cake!

Gillx

Gillx Report 5 Dec 2018 08:52

Morning all

Heavy rain here today and it's so dark I'm sitting here with the lights on.

That table sounded very small Ann, you were lucky you were near the window like you said so you could use the window sill. Good idea not to book again unless you could ask for a table for 4 that would get around the problem, after all you are regular customers aren't you?

Yes our place looks very Christmasy at the moment, I think Sandra would have the lights in her room all year around if she could. I'm the same and love lots of lights at Christmas it really gets you in the mood.

I agree with you about the winning cake, even though it did look good it was more like a sculpture.

Good luck with your interview on Friday. Yes it's better to be safe than sorry so checking their ID is a good idea.

The builders have turned up making noise again, I think they are in the kitchen as that window is open. I can't see anymore bricks going up today with all the rain we have, although they did do lots of the wall yesterday so hopefully it won't be long before the walls are up ready for the roof and bi-fold doors that are going on the back. Kevin, the owner said they are hoping to move in by February, but I suppose that depends on the weather. It's be nice if it's all finished by then though.

How are you feeling today Jane, I hope the early night helped and you're feeling a little better today?

I'm hoping to copy everyone over to my Genes tree today then that'll be finished and out of the way. Because the builder's are working inside, it's not to noisy so Sandra is still sleep, so I might as well do it now while it's quiet before she wants to watch some of the things I've recorded for her.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 5 Dec 2018 10:09

Morning Gill and all,

Sounds like we all have the same weather today. Its so dark I too have the light on as I could'nt see the keyboard properly.

I was so tired when I got in yesterday I did'nt even turn the pc on to read the posts. In the evening after dinner I priced up some more bits and put them in poly bags so not too many fingers will be on them and booked them in so I know whats been taken to the Fayre and whathas sold if I sell anything. I am not sure how much to put on the brooches though. some have beads on and some felt cutouts and some embrodery and all take a long while to make. Ann said they want everything for a few shillings but Iam not going to give it away when I have the shop in Torrington to take it to afterwards.

You sounded a bit boxed in at the carvery yesterday Ann. It seemed strange they put you on a small table when you usually have a larger one so you can scan the papers. They must know you're routine by now with you being regulars.

I heard from our other Anne the other day and she hopes to get on the thread a bit later but sends you all her love. Ruby is well and her usual self and is 2 years old this month!! Time certainly flies dos'nt it? It seems like only yesterday she was a little puppy with that mischievious look in her eye. <3

Hope Frank had another good nights sleep and feels better today. I think my dad liked those iced caramels too Frank.

Yesterday would have been my mum and dads wedding aniversary and I kept thinking of them all day.

10 days to go Jane!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Its coming around very quickly. Hope your colds better today after an early night.

Well I better go and do something.

See you all later

Frank

Frank Report 5 Dec 2018 12:11

Good morning All,

Very still type of morning here, no breeze and certainly not cold.

Jan phoned this morning to say she was popping in for a coffee and to see Carolyn, who was coming round to take Ros for a few from Tesco. All three of them have not long gone. NATTER. NATTER, NATTER.!!!! Peace and quiet now.

Carolyn, Val Barker, Beryl and Ros are going to the CREM at 2.00 pm to see their friend off. Poor old Vic (her husband ) won't know where he is, without Rita. xxx

Ros and Carolyn are talking of going to BLENHEIM PALACE to see the Christmas decorations, they hope to get two or three others to go, to fill the car. They won't stay to see the gardens all lit up in the evening As thats an extra £18.00 per head, on top of the £27.00 to go in the PALACE. More money than sense if you ask me. BAH HUMBUG. lol lol

Didn't have a good night again, I got up before Ros came to bed. Midnight, and stayed up till passed 3.30 am. Up again at 7.00.

Nice that you have heard from Ann C, Mel, and Ruby. I am sending the both an Jacquie Lawson Christmas Card via the web.

Tony still hasn't bought my saucepan, dish and tray back. I expect I will have to go and get them. :-| :-| :-|

I watched the CIRCUS ACT this morning, with the neighbours moving their cars around. I wish I could video them, it's such a laugh. I can see one of these days one will end up in either the porch or their lounge. ;-) ;-) ;-) or even BOTH.

Roast Chicken for tonight. We ended up with an Indian takeaway last night, as I had no energy to cook.

I hope you are all well, and getting on with your Christmas Shopping !!!

Afternoon All

I did have a a good sleep last night but am still full of cold .I have dragged myself out to the Hairdressers to just ahave a final bit of a trim. Just a dry cut so it didnt take long.
I showed Nigel the pics of Hannah in the inflatable willy :-D. He thought she was a good sport going on the tube like that. I then had a quick trip to Morrisons to get a couple of Rib Eye Steaks for Chris and Me for Saturday.

Oh Frank, what a horrible day for Ros and her friends to be going to their friend Ritas funeral. It is dark misty and drizzly here. Thomas is hunched up on the patio table and I reckon he will be back in soon as I think it is just starting to rain again.

Gill I think your card for Hannah and Gareth has just arrived :-D.. Thank you.
I bet it looks sos pretty now in your house with all the lovely lights .especially Sandras room :-D :-D
I would love bifold doors here like your new neighbours are having . The big thing to put me off would be keeping them clean !!!!.

Ann , I hate being put on a tiny table for 2 when there is literally no room on the table for anything other than the plates. We have often sat on a larger table but been moved to a smaller one . How do they think you can actually enjoy the meal when the table is so crammed with everything. I am often moving things off our table onto an empty table next to us. Or sending the bread basket and jug of water back jsut to have a bit more space .

Mel did you say it is tomorrow the Christmas Fayre? It is difficult to know what to charge for your things.Fingers crossed you pitch it right and you sell the lot :-D :-D

10 days to go .I still need to get tights even though I hate the darned things.A trip to M&S is in order very soon.
Hannah has just rung. She has just had her hair cut and coloured ,so another job done. Her friend Sarah who lives in Australia arrived on Monday and stayed with Hannah that night. She has now gone to Barcelona and will be back to stay with Hannah next week . She is doing a reading at the Wedding. She is a hoot :-D :-D

I had a right disaster last night.. I knocked over a bottle of nail varnish remover on the coffee table and it has stripped all the varnish off :-S :-S :-S :-S :-S. I now need to find somewhere who can sort it. It looks dreadful.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 5 Dec 2018 15:03

Done some more pricing so just have the brooches to do now. I kept back a toadstool brooch that Di liked as I am going to give her that for Christmas with her other presents.

I seem to have eye ache and a bit of a headache which is not like me. I hope I am not going down with the bug the boys had last week. George was sick 14 times in the night. It seemed a lot of the children were ill at the little school so Em said.

Cleaned the hen house out this morning just before lunch, just a quick shovel out and some nice fresh shavings put down. I did'nt do their nest boxes as it was time to get lunch. We had homemade soup and warm rolls.

I bought myself a little light up village yesterday in Lidl. It is 5 houses and the lights that go in them and they run by batteries and turn off after 6 hours and on again at the time you first turned tham on. I am going to have them on the windowsill this year.

I too like my lights so Gill and Sandra you're not alone. I have loads of solar light for the garden too.
