Morning all, Same weather here, can't see it doing much throughout the day. I have to have my dressings changed at 4.20 pm, so mustn't forget that.
I did the cooking yesterday, but didn't eat much. But i did have a nice PRAWN sandwich last night. I was in bed by 9.00 pm. Couldn't get into VERA. I find it difficult to understand what's she is saying.!!!
I did sleep soon after getting into bed, but was disturbed when MADAM came to bed. That left me wide awake for a long time, plus Ros got into a deep sleep, and snored for ENGLAND. I was up just after 7.00, and feel I could slip back under the covers, and have a few zzz now.
What a nice time you had yesterday or was it Saturday Jane. I bed you were thrilled to bits seeing him after 5 years. You must not leave it so long next time. ;-) ;-)
I am not using the walking frame now, so must contact the lady, and arrange to return it. I am pleased to say the ribs are starting to feel so much better. I must try not to JAR them, or I will be back to square one.
Yes I use to call Shirl. "Bugger lugs." in fact I still do when we speak on F.B. I also call Lewis it. !!! I haven't heard TWONK used for many a year.
Jane I finished that book, and tried to find the other one. It won't let me go to any other books until I RETURN this one. HOW DO I DO THAT ??? I didn't know I borrowed it. !!!! But that what it tells me. In fact I can't get to any other books either. So I am having to go back reading a HARD BACK BOOK, which I don't enjoy as much.

Morning all you early birds and all,
I slept in this morning till11amish. I was up at 20 past 7 for the loo and if I am late for that I tend to sleep longer into the morning. Nusiaince really as I don't get so much done.
Oh is working on the frames as I speak. He's been up in the loft looking for something probably wood offcuts.
I must get my new licience form completed today and see if Emm is in to counter sign it for me.

After noon all,
Been drizzling here since we got up this morning ,Colin's not very happy as he was hoping to get some outside jobs done .
Oh Jane i can see you and your brother have the same eyes and nose ,sounds as if you had a good day with them ,i can remember you saying you were meeting up with your brother but it doesn't seem like five years ago .
Frank i wouldn't get rid of the walking frame just yet if you twist yourself you might be glad of it .
Must be dry your way then Mel if OH is working on the frames or has he got some where in the dry to make them ?
I've been busy making Laceys' dress for her day at school ,Jane i've used some of your lace from your wedding dress on it :-D I used one of her t shirts as a bit of a guide for the size of the top of the dress ,cut out a paper pattern and hoped for the best ,it's turned out ok ,it's only a dressing up dress after all. Lace for the collar and i made a belt to tie round her waist ,just need her to try it on to get the length and then i can sew round the hem .

Sorry you had a bad nights sleep Frank, I hope you've managed a few zzzzzzz's and feel a bit better now. I think Mandy's right, you should keep hold of the walking frame a bit longer, just in case you need it again.
You're getting on well with Lacey's dress Mandy, I'd love to see a pic when it's finished.
It sounds like you have the same weather as us Mel if your OH is working on the frame. How long will it take him to make, it sounds like a big job?
I checked the details I gave you last night about the Gladiators Jane, and it is on Challenge at 9am on a Sunday. I've just Googled the Gladiators names as I couldn't remember them all myself. There were a fair few of them over the years.
Lightening, Wolf, Cobra, Hunter, Falcon, Saracen, Warrior, Panther, Vogue, Trojan, Zodiac, Rhino, Nightshade, Jet, Ace, Rebel, Rio, Shadow, Scorpio, Hawk, Fox, Siren, Vulcan, Raider, Khan, Rocket, Gold, Amazon, Laser, Diesel, Flame and Pheonix, Like I said quite a few. Some of them I don't remember but I think it's because they weren't in it for long. But Wolf I definitely remember.
Sandra was very young when it was first on, so enjoys it more now and couldn't believe it when Wolf tried ripping one of the contestants pants off on one of the games, luckily they didn't come right off otherwise Wolf would of been disqualified. She gets very excited when it's on and shouts at the TV......bless her :-)

Yes I would hang onto the walker for a bit longer too Frank, just in case you need it again. I find I often have to tweak the sound up a bit when watching Vera.
Did he find the staple gun Mel? It is so annoying when you are all set to do something and then can't find something you need.
Gill I remember some of those names from The Gladiators, they were great names weren't they. The builders are going to be behind as you say. Lots of them flit between jobs though, if something needs a while to dry out or they are waiting for materials. I just hope the new people don't start redoing all the garden as soon as they move in.
Mandy, the dress sounds as if you are making great headway with it and the lace collar would have been a bit easier than a double one from scratch I would think. We had that horrid drizzle later this morning as well.
I asked OH how he'd got on with his yearly checkup this morning and he said the nurse asked him about his lifestyle etc and said his BP was fine. He told the nurse it must be down to his no smoking or drinking. She turned to him and told him in no uncertain terms that it was the medication he was on that was controlling his BP well. 'But I'm NOT on any BP medication' OH said. Her face was a picture apparently as she said 'you must be' and started scrolling through his records and found he was right!. He told her he had had borderline BP results once or twice many years ago, but she said he should never have been called for these annual checkups as they were only for people on BP medication!! I said earlier that they never called me for annual checkups like they did OH.......now I know why. Fancy no-one picking that up before.
OH has his interview at Grantham tomorrow afternoon, then has a meeting at 4.00pm and another at 6.30pm so he's going to be flying from one to the other, so is taking a packed lunch with him. It will be nice to see him in a suit and tie for a change which is how he always was for work and how I always remember him.

Good evening all The pavements here were still icy this morning so I had to cancel my appointment with the diabetic nurse, It wasn't important as it was just a chat about my latest test results which were all favourable, so it can wait. Never found out what caused the road to be closed, when Paul came for Sunday dinner yesterday he said all was as usual.
Had my weekly chat with my SIL this morning, the post mortem results on one of Stephen's carer's husband was a shock to her as he had an enlarged heart which was the only cause of death, apparently he was very fit cycling or walking most days with their two dogs who keep looking for him. The coroner said it had caused a massive stroke and he wouldn't have known a thing.
They were nice photos of you and your half brother Jane and his wife too I can see the likeness as the others have said. How many siblings do you both have? Does he see Janice as well? Good that Thomas is now peeing without missing his box does it have a lid to it?
I have never come across those two words but Judi one of my work colleagues use to say "Fish Hooks" when something went wrong.
So one less trip to the doctor's for your OH Ann, how strange they hadn't realised before he wasn't taking blood pressure tablets, if he hadn't made that comment it could have gone on for a few more years
Another disturbed night Frank have you thought to have single beds so you wouldn't wake each other up, we had them pushed together because Peter suffered badly with restless legs and this solved the problem, ear plugs is the answer for snoring I found..
Mandy you are a clever grandma making them all dressing up clothes I'm also looking forward to seeing the finished dress.

It's a good job your OH said something Ann It makes you wonder if they actually read the notes. Yes, some of the Gladiator's names were really good, although after Googling them I don't remember them all. I couldn't believe how long the list was.
I hope your OH has found the gun now Mel, it must be frustrating when you want to get on with a job and you can't find all the equipment you need to complete it.
So it was an enlarged heard then Anne, let's hope his wife had some comfort in knowing he didn't suffer, although it must of been quite a shock for her to find him like that. It's going to take a while for her to come to terms with it.

That was sensible to not risk slipping over going to your appointment Anne. What a shame about your SIL carer's husband, with him keeping himself so fit as well. Yes, I always joked with OH that the surgery looked after him better than me, especially being as he is 6 years younger than me! As you say it could have gone on for years more if he hadn't said what he did.
We have just been doing a house search!! We still get free plastic bags at the farm shop and, as we always have done, we re-use them for the kitchen bin. The 2 bags we got last week are nowhere to be seen and not where we usually put them. OH was convinced I had used them to bag things up when I was sorting through my wardrobe but when we checked I hadn't. I think we've reached that stage now where each thought the other must have put them somewhere else but neither of us can say with conviction anymore what we might have done ourselves!! lol

Anne,I am glad that the results are through for the reason of that young mans death . It sounds as though it was just one of those hidden and undiagnosed problems .It happens so often . He didn't suffer which is the main thing .
I am one of 8 Anne !!!!. That was a shock . I had always known I was adopted but didn't look for Birth Family until both my Mum and Dad had passed away. I thought I might just have been a baby born out of wedlock in the 50's and was just put up for adoption. Turns out I am one of 8 !! with 6 different Fathers. I was number 6 ,and when I was born I think the authorities must have decided my B Mother was not capable of looking after so many children and most probably living in poverty too. One Sister had died the year before I was born .My elder siblings were all put in Children's homes and I was adopted . Then B Mother moved to London and had another 2 children number 7 and 8.Peter was number 7. . Of all the children I was the only one who had a happy childhood. How terribly sad is that. There are 5 of us now but I am just in touch with 2. Peter has met Janice once . Luck was on my side :-D The other 4 still carry a lot of baggage :-(
Never heard of the expression Fish Hooks ! That is a new one for me :-D Thomas's tray has high sides and a bit of a hood.

Good morning all,
Was awake at 5.00 am after a good 7hours sleep. I lain for an hour and got up to make a COT. I had just sat down when Ros pocked her more round the door. Ah I said, you smelt the pot. lol lol.
Nurse said my hole is healing white well, even though there is still grunge seeping out, I have to go back next Tuesday 10.00 am to have them changed again.
Jane, You were certainly lucky (fortunate) to have had such a loving home to be bought up in. Being one of TEN (five in SEVEN YEARS) there wasn't a lot of love or affection, but it can be understood now, when you sit back and think about it. I suppose to have had a clean bed, clean cloths and a belly full of grub, we faired a lot better than many. The word "LOVE" was never relayed by my mother, that I can remember. The one statement I remember so well, and still lives with me. was. "I DREAD THE DAY GOD PUT BREETH IN YOUR BODY" I really can't remember her not using those words at least once a week. I can forgive her now, knowing what she must have gone through, bringing up FIVE CHILDREN under 7 years old, with two older sons and her husband at war. It's a wonder she managed to survive to the age of 86. WHAT A MORBID OLD SOD I AM AT THIS TIME OF DAY> ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-)
Can't see what the day is like,Still black as you "HAT" outside,
Time for more tea and something to eat.
I hope you all slept well see you later. cxxx

Morning Frank, morning all
Same here Frank I've been awake since 5am to. Just couldn't get back to sleep so gave up and had a cuppa. Sorry to hear about your childhood, to be honest mine was't much better so I know how you feel. Even today apart from my mum no one in the family speaks to us and because of being Sandra's carer I don't have any friends apart from everyone on here. If it wasn't for you all I'd be very lonely.
I'm pleased to see you had a good childhood Jane, you were very lucky, it's such a shame your siblings didn't have a very nice childhood to.
We have frost here today Frank, it's so cold I put the fire on and the heating, then put the gas rings on in the kitchen to warm that room up as we don't have a radiator in there. We took it out when we had the kitchen done not long after we moved in here and put the rad in the front garden out of the way. We didn't know there was a scrap man, so yes, you've guessed it, he took it thinking we'd put it out for him and for some reason we never put another rad in the kitchen. To be honest putting the gas rings on warmed the room up in a few minutes and the room is warm when I cook so we don't really miss it.
The roofer said he'll be back this afternoon to finish the roof, he's only got a little bit left to do. He had another job on today but the boss wanted it finished so he's coming to finish it off when he's done the other roof. I think the scaffolding is coming down today or tomorrow, then I believe the plasterers will be back to start the rendering. OH had a word with them the other day to see how much splashing if any was going to occur, the workman said there's hardly any, I hope he's right and there isn't any mess on our side.
We found out yesterday that our neighbour across the road has had both his brick walls either side of his drive damaged, by he thinks, the skip man, but when he rang them they denied it, he's not very happy. We think it was the same skip man who damaged our concrete post. Apparently the skip man said it was a range rover, he couldn't get past the skip truck so he did a three point turn into the neighbours drive. We don't believe that story because if that was the case how do they explain our post being damaged at the same time. We're lucky as the new neighbour wants to put a gate across his drive so the post would of had to come out anyway to be replace with a higher one, so at least ours will be fixed but I don't hold out any hope of the neighbours walls being fixed.
The neighbour on the other side of the one being done up rang the council over the roof as it wasn't laying in line with his, after a lot of arguing with the boss, who put the phone down on him at one point, the job has now been done properly so no rain can get into his roof space. All in all no one likes the boss and everyone is unhappy with all the damage being done. We're still not sure what's going to happen with our side fence in the front as the boss told us that it was coming down and being replaced with a different one, he didn't even ask us if it was okay, when I said I didn't want it taking down as we'd only just paid to have it done, he said it was only a cheap fence anyway and walked away.......the cheeky man.
We're dreading the drive being done as we have visions of our drive being damaged in the process. We're hoping it's going to be done in the spring so we can go in our front garden and pretend to do some work so we can keep an eye on them, we think that's the only way to avoid further damage to our property. I hope they don't damage our side gate or the tall fence behind it, or there will be trouble. I'll probably call the police and have them done for criminal damage if they try touching that. The new neighbour did say he would discuss the boundaries with us before anything is done, but I've got a feeling he won't.....time will tell, I suppose.

Morning Gill and all,
Wet here today and I left washing on the line and even though its under cover above the wind has blown the rain in and the washing is wetter than when it went out. We also had a heavy mist last night which did'nt help. Its only three of my cotton polo neck tops and two kitchen towels the rest I put on the rads airers as they were only socks and smalls.
When I came into the kitchen this morning there on the floor was the Staple Gun in its box as oh said it was. I had had a bit of a tidy up in the summer and put some folded pond liner on a table in the workshop and then the box with the gun in and some more folded liner on it. Oh had got out the taarmac bags in the summer as thats the only time we can fill the holes in the road and the cardboard box with stuff in I had put on top of the sacks of tarmac had been put on the table. On top of tthat oh had put one of his long hedge cutters which I did'nt move yesterday. He did today and found it between two layers of neatly folded pond liner. He said he never puts anything away neatly folded so it was my fault. He never puts anything away anyway!!!!!!!!!!!!! folded or in a mess.
Shopping day so I better get on.

Northing to report since this morning. I did get myself some breakfast Eggs on Toast. We have been so lucky with DOUBLE YOKERS. I have had 6 on Sundays for the yorkshire puddings, in the last three weeks, and this morning I had two more. I know Ros buys the BEST and LARGEST there are on the shelf, so it seems to have paid dividends.
We had a box arrive this morning of RICHARD (can't think of his surname) compost from QVC. Ros buys it every year, for her seeds and cuttings. She swears by it. !!! I managed to get is as far as the conservatory door, and Ros got it down the steps on the sack barrow, and into the garage. I will get Harvey, Jonathan or some fitter person to get it down to the green house.
I was hoping I might hear from my Nephew regarding my sister being home from Hospital, but it looks like it will be left to me to PHONE.
Ros has gone out with Carolyn this morning, to do their usual Tuesday rounds. They usually end up at a Garden Centre for a bit of lunch, and put the world to right.
Lamb Shanks tonight, in a red wine gravy and root veg. I have done potato's, swede and spring cabbage to go with it. I might pop a Rice pudding in for Ros, as she likes something sweet after her dinner.
I meant to say, that GEMMA COLLINS on Dancing on Ice, is certainly getting the sympathy vote from the PUBLIC. Certainly not from me. The longer she stays in, the more, BETTER dancers are being sent home. It goes against the grain. :-( :-( :-(.
Gill, it seems strange, how some parents feel so strong about the bringing up of their children. I think because of my childhood, I tried to give my children everything within reason. (they were never spoilt) But I loved to come home from work and bath the children. When they were on the bottle, I would feed them, and put them to bed with a cuddle. As they got older a story was either made up or read from a book most nights. We did the same with Lewis. As he got older it was DVDs of Harry Potter etc., but he never seemed to stay awake, for more than the first 10/15 minutes. How times changed. I wonder what they do now. ??? VIDIO GAMES ???
Hope you didn't forget anything in your shopping today Mel. What was the VET doing at yours this morning. Ha Ha. I known you meant WET. ;-) ;-)
Our neighbour across the road had the Ambulance arrive this this with the BLUES going. I know he is on his last legs with CANCER, but I don't like to go and ask, if everything is alright. Which I know it isn't. Very difficult to know why to do for the best. <3 <3
Full up from breakfast, so might only have a coffee, and catch the News.

I'm the same as you Frank and tried my best for my girls, although I think I may have spoilt them a bit over the years with big presents for Christmas, but I remember my mum asking me what I'd like for my birthday each year and every time I said what I'd like she always said I'll get you that for Christmas pick something else. The only time I ever got what I asked for was on my 12th birthday when I asked for two record albums "Grease" and "Saturday Night Fever" I was so shocked that I finally got what I'd ask for on my birthday without having to wait until Christmas, it's always stuck in my head as the best birthday EVER. She's gone back to her usual ways now, so I've stopped telling her what I'd like, when she asks me now I just say, surprise me. I wouldn't mind but my sister always got what she asked for, mind you, she's always been mum and dad's favourite and still is.
Sorry to hear about your neighbour it must be difficult to know what to say at times like that. Have you rang anyone about your sister yet? It does look like you'll have to be the one to ring. I agree with you about Gemma Collins, I was saying the same, it's not fair on everyone else who can skate better than her. I thought it was suppose to be a skating competition, not a popularity one.
Pleased to see you have finally found the staple gun Mel, how much has your OH done today, now he has the tools to work with?

Afternoon All,
It's dull here but no rain yet, but it's getting colder. Poor Hello Kitty was squatting against the hedge near his home when I got back this morning and was looking very sorry for himself at being out. His mouth opened as he gave me a little miaow as I drove by.
I had an early night and a good sleep last night and woke up at 7.00am as Mr Overall was driving his van off to work. OH left at 12.00pm for his 3 trips this afternoon. I bet his tie will be in his pocket after the interview. He was trying to tell me his shirt neck had shrunk till I reminded him that the nurse had told him he had put on weight the other day. :-S
It sounds a right game next door Gill and I can remember us being concerned all the time with what the builder here was doing. A neighbour was telling us yesterday that the chap who does denture repairs and is in the bungalow round the corner and at the bottom has built his new garage partly over the road that is the turning point at the end! The neighbour said a car had been left parked blocking his driveway the other day and when he asked the driver why he had parked there he said he'd dropped his wife off for an appointment with the denture repair man and it was awkward and too far to reverse all the way back up the narrow road!! Now the denture repair man is wanting the other 2 new properties to join him in putting gates at the original bottom of the close after our 4 bungalows where they drive through to make them secure!! That means that every delivery vehicle (plenty!) and visitor the 3 of them have would be parking in front of our 4 driveways till they were let in or they would leave their vehicles and walk.
I've said before Frank how our mothers thought they had done their bit if we were fed, clothed and had a roof over our heads, never mind hugs and kisses or praise! Yet my grandma was very loving despite having had 9 children herself, but I didn't see her after age 9 when we moved counties. Some things you never erase from your memory. Mine were being told I'd ruined my mother's life (by being born), her life was a prison and no money through having me. Then my father with my toddler sister on his knee and no-one else around telling me that she was going to be his favourite and that the sooner I grew up and was gone the better. How does an 11 year old process that? I remember gasping for breath with the shock and realisation that it was true that I wasn't wanted and was alone in the world. I sat on my bed for ages with tears running down my face but didn't dare make any noise as I would be made fun of for crying. I'd sit on the landing listening to the rows at night and after seeing my mother pack her case and walk off up the road once, I worried every time I got home from school in case she had gone and what would become of me. I've always felt that children with privileged upbringings can reach for the sky in their ambitions and achievements, whereas I had a ball and chain of worry and instability at home. Even when I managed to do well at school I wasn't allowed to continue. One consequence is that I am all for what makes children equal at school, from wearing a uniform to equal support and wouldn't allow expensive school trips that some parents can't afford. I can remember the smirks from some of the better off children that could go on all the trips and outings! Well that's enough of my memory lane......we can't change the past, but we can learn from it and be different ourselves. :-)
OH's eye appointment on Thursday has been cancelled and re-booked which has worked out well as I have my knee injection on Thursday and we weren't sure he'd be done at the eye clinic before I needed to go to my appointment. I'm a bit worried about any plasters they may use as I seem to be allergic to most now.
Better get back to my sorting now while his lordship is out and I can get on. He won't be back till after 8.00pm.

Afternoon Everyone Frank, I expect you will hear something about your neighbour if it is the worst news. It is always hard to know whether to enquire or just to wait. It does seem strange that you haven't heard anything about your Sister. You don't think she might still be in hospital?
Good luck on Thursday Ann. I expect you will be feeling a bit apprehensive about having the injection. But I am sure it will be ok and hopefully will ease that awful pain. Does it work straight away or will it be a gradual lessening pain wise? As you say it is good OH's eye appointment has been cancelled as you now won't need to worry about the time . Gill , I think that Boss is a right ignoramous and a totally rude and horrible man. He obviously has no regard for anyones concerns . I am surprised that he manages to get work to be honest. Our kitchen can be cold like yours even though there is a radiator . It is because it is right next to the integral garage and the cold comes through from there. Its getting a bit nippy now outside and I think it might be drizzling a bit.Thomas came in and had 5 minutes of madness ,tearing around the lounge and basically being a clown :-D.
So the Staple Gun has appeared then Mel :-D :-DYou will have ot make sure OH doesn't cover it up again :-D. Even though he says it wasn't him :-D
I have done that Mediterranean Beef Stew again for tonight. I have just kept it in the oven on low for hours. Mash to go with it . Lamb Shanks sound good Frank. I havent had them for ages now.The best ones I used ot have were Tesco Finest. I must have a look a nd see if they still do them. I have some packs of Venison in the freezer and keep forgetting about them. I will have to do a Venison Casserole soon.
Yes I was so fortunate to be adopted.I dread to think what my life would have been like had I not. When I think what my other Siblings had to cope with it just makes me realise how bloody lucky I was.I remember Joe (one Brother) saying how he wished he had been adopted.Janice too is adopted so we are too very lucky girls :-D :-D
Gemma Collins ! what a Diva . The GC. There is always someone like her who the public keep in. I do think she has improved quite a bit though, but you can't compare her to the others who are doing brilliantly.I don't know who I want to win.
Tomorrow Chris and I are going to see the 'Mousetrap' at the Royal and Derngate . We will have lunch at ASK Italian beforehand . I know I have an Isle seat ,but hope it is the right isle so I can stick my leg out so my bad hip can be stretched out a bit.The seat are so uncomfortable at the Royal :-S :-S. I always said I wouldn't go back again but Hannah bought us these tickets for Chris's Birthday .
This fire where 4 little children have died is just the most terrible thing :-( :-(. What on earth happened . Maybe a gas explosion ? It is just so so tragic and the poor Firefighters finding these children !!!!. I hope they have good support .
I caught up with Silent Witness this afternoon as I fell asleep half way through last nights episode,so I am up for the second one tonight now.
