Afternoon All,

:-D :-D <3 <3HAPPY BIRTHDAY MEL <3 <3 :-D :-D

Hope you have a great birthday! The sun is shining here so I hope it's the same for you!

We ended up having a breakfast at the garden centre down the road this morning which was nice. I went to take photos at the church where there was the bonfire last time then. A lady came to change the church flowers and let me in the church to look around and told me some of the history. She said scaffolders were coming later to repair the roof after the lead had been stolen! I was only hearing on the radio a few days ago how 2 Rutland churches had had their roofs stripped. I then had to hurry home to put OH's drops in his eye before he set off for Rutland.
Strangely enough we saw men loading lead into a white van at our church in the village yesterday. It's had the lead stolen twice in recent times and I said to OH that in the day you would just assume it was people working on the roof. I made a note of their registration no just in case!!

Having a COT now before deciding what to do next.

Have PM'd you Jane.

Afternoon all,

What a beautiful day it is ,lovely blue sky and quite warm in the sun .

What a shame about your glass Ann but at least you did manage to get your coaster ,i don't know much about what you do with the resin ,is it a liquid that just sets ?
Could you put some of your beads in the resin ? although i should imagine you have to heat the resin and that might affect the beads ?
But if they did melt in it they might look quite pretty .
That was nice being able to look round the church and getting some of the history from the lady in there and good you got the registration no of the van especially as the lead has been taken twice already .

Sad news this morning the little boy who turned the towns christmas lights on died early this morning ,bless him he was only four .

<3 <3 <3 HAPPY BIRTHDAY MEL <3 <3 <3 Have a lovely time out, pleased to see the weather is nice.

It's lovely and sunny here today and quite warm with it. Unfortunately the roofers are back with their loud radio and now they're shouting to each other what items they need next to do the roof with. They said it would be finished today, but we've heard this before. Time will tell I suppose.

Sorry to hear the little boy died Mandy, how sad for everyone.

So you think the people you saw might of been the ones stealing the lead off the church roof. Maybe you should give the van number to the police Ann. I'd like to see a pic of your glass if you take one. Good idea of Mandy's to put some beads in the next ones, I think that would look nice.

Good afternoon all. Mandy so sad to hear that the little boy died,

At least you got something saved from the glass work Ann although it must be disappointing that somebody messed it up. Did the teacher get an explanation about that.

Oh dear Gill, another noisy day, builders are not very quiet people are they?

It is 18 degrees in our garden, a beautiful sunny day. We have been to Batsford Arboretum, a lovely drive across the Cotswolds to Moreton in Marsh. Although going this morning when high up it was very foggy. Coming home in the sun though it was a glorious drive through beautiful scenery. The Arboretum was at its spring best with a huge amount of snowdrops and also a good number of Helebores and early daffodils. We really enjoyed the walk round and then had fish and chips for lunch in a local garden centre.

Annx

Annx Report 14 Feb 2019 15:54

How sad Mandy and awful for his parents too. It was a little life that had hardly begun. I don't really know much about resin yet either. I know it is runny and that you mix a hardener with it to make it warm and sets it. I imagine it to be like fibreglass resin. I think you can put most things in it so beads should be ok, things like metal charms, postage stamps or anything paper you have cut out, sequins as well as plants and flowers or leaves. I know the moulds are only a few pounds,

I forgot to say earlier that I had a card in the post this morning. OH was about to leave but said he was going to wait till I opened it in case he needed to be 'insanely jealous' if it was a valentine. LOL It wasn't though. :-S :-D

Oh Gill it can't be very nice with the workmen shouting next door, but hopefully the roofers will finish today. They can't blame the weather can they!

I wasn't sure if the men with the lead were doing the repairs and genuine. It will be in the paper if it's more theft though so I'll keep the number I wrote down for a while.

I was a bit too old for Bunty like Jane had, I seem to remember the Girl comic and maybe an annual of that too.

My car is all clean again now at last. It hasn't been worth getting it done lately.

I wonder if Mel and her OH have had a race yet!!

I will see if I can send a pic of the coaster I am going to frame.

Better late than never. !!!! "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" DEAR MEL xxx I do hope you have had a nice day, and you are being spoilt.

What sad news Mandy, God bless him. xxx :-( :-( :-( :-( I expect he will have a wonderful send off, by his parents, with the backing of the village.

I have had more "SENIOR MOMENTS" today. This morning I thought it was Monday. and got the BLUE AND GREEN BINS OUT. ready for collection tomorrow. When Ros saw them she said what is the matter with you ??? I soon got them in, before the neighbours saw them.

Ros has had her hair done today, and looks very nice. She is at Choir tonight. So I am on my own. Carolyn phoned, she tripped over a chair leg last night, and has been at the hospital all day. The original fracture hasn't healed yet, so she's back in a support shoe. They fly to the USA Sunday, so hope she will be well enough.

Julia has been up this afternoon, what a surprise that was. She has bought us a new draining board set. It's so different to the old stye, and has a drain plug that goes straight down the sink. so no wiping down. !!

I am feeling much better today, and have left my dressing off after my shower. It seems to be drying up, so thats a good sign.

Lamb steaks, potato and onion in cream, Runner beans,Cabbage and carrots. Apple Crumble for afters. so we won't go hungry. !!!

A nice day then AnnG! I remember going to Batsford quite a few years ago, but it was Autumn when the Acers were looking good. I bet it was nice seeing all the spring bulbs in flower. F&C to follow as well after the fresh air gave you an appetite!

Lol Frank.....monday :-D

Your meal sounds lovely I love lamb.

Did you have a good day at Rosemoor Mel? Hope you didn’t have any fog.

Ann the annuals I remember were School Friend
And Girls Crystal, And Girl (the opposite to Eagle).

Gillx Report 14 Feb 2019 18:54

Poor Carolyn, Frank, I hope she's not in to much pain and can still go to the USA. Pleased to see you are feeling much better today and don't need your dressing on now, that should feel much better.

How has your birthday been Mel, hope the weather was nice and you had a great day out.

Looking forward to see a pic of your coaster Ann, it sounds like fun to make and all the other things you have mentioned.

How are you feeling today Jane? It sounds like you're going through a rough patch, I hope things improve for you and your family soon.

It sounds like you've had a great day out Ann G, did you take any photo's?

My cough seems to be getting worse since the workmen created all the brick dust, so I've been outside washing it all off the fascia boards and the corner of the roof with the hosepipe, hopefully it won't be so dusty now, plus when it rains it won't drip down onto the white rendering they are having done. The roofer has finished the roof at last, but will be back in the morning to pick up the old slate tiles as he told OH he can sell them for 80p each and there are a lot of them. Of course the boss wants his cut.......typical. I think it's a bit cheeky though, when they belong to the new neighbour not them and of course some of them belong to the neighbour on the other side as they came from his kitchen roof, although to be fair they did replace that part of his roof with new tiles so he'd probably let it go, but the new neighbours should have the money as they were his tiles. The roofer also told OH that the rendering people will be back tomorrow so more noise and mess, hopefully though they won't take to long then all of the outside will be finished, so that's something good.

Anne Report 14 Feb 2019 19:54

So sorry to read about the little four year old boy and how sad for his parents, Mandy.

Hope you had a lovely birthday Mel, nice that the weather has been so sunny and you enjoyed your meal

Frank it seems you are getting your appetite back and you are sleeping better now, having your dressing off must be a relief. Hope Caroline will be ok to go to the USA on Sunday.

Your day out in the Cotswolds with all the lovely scenery must have been so enjoyable AnnG.it's such a lovely area.
I had the same annuals as you did and my favourite comic was School Friend,

Sorry to hear your cough has returned Gill I expect you can't wait for the builders to finish and peace will return have you been told how much longer they will be working next door.

Here I am and Iv'e had a wonderful day and lovely dinner, cards and presents.

We had dinner first, we both had a minced beef wellington with roasted carrots and parsnips, cabbage, beetroot, roasted new potatoes and peas. It was delish and we had a sweet which was apple and almond crumble tart with clotted cream and both meals were on a deal for £13.95 and oh had a large black coffee and I had water.

Then we went and got our buggies and it was really funny because oh's was a bit bigger than mine I think but much slower. I told him to turn the right hand button up and he told me it was on fun speed but he was only crawling along most of the time. Mine was a whizz and as I was in front I kept leaving him behind. I told him its becasue he weighs more than I do and how would he feel if he had to cary 18 stone around.

The bulbs were lovely and plenty of them. All kinds of mini daffs, crocus, anemones in blue and white and some pink primulas Rosea I think and witchazel flowering and the dog wood stems in all different colours really shone out. There were lots of Helybores too in different colours and somem camelias flowering. Also more plants but some I could'nt think of the names of. One small leaved Skimmia had bright red berries on it. They also had a lot of sculptures dotted around. We liked the fish which moved in the breeze. I said to oh I wondered what they looked like when the wind really blew. They looked just like a shoal of big fish and they were rusty coloured. I took some pics of them but people kept getting in the wasy. One couple seemed to be in every picture I took and I swaer they were doing it on purpose.

After taking the buggies back we went and had another drink and oh has chocolate and expresso cake and I had a cheese scone with butter. Then he spied some people we knew from ringing and did'nt want to see them so we had to wait till they had finished and gone before we coud leave the resturant. He went back to the car while I went for a look around the shop. I saw this couple in the shop and worked my way past them and went into the back bit where the gardening stuff is and blow me if they did'nt come back into there!! Anyway I spoke to them and then got tied up with the lady and she told me some sad news that a chap we used to ring with wife died yesterday just befoe lunch. She had been ill for about 30 years. So that was really sad for us as she was a lovely lady.

When we arrived home there were three big boxes in the porch. One was from oh, my roses and the other two were from Em, Ed and the boys and Em's mum and dad. I had a nice bottle of wine from Em's parents and a huge metal chicken from Em and the boys etc. More cards too.

My Valentine card was with my roses which came from Moonpig and when oh ordered the card he forgot to change the name on it so it reads Happy Valentines day JANE.

I must just thank you all once again for the lovely cards you all sent me and I had 17 in all including the Valentine one from oh.

Jane do please thank Hannah for the card she sent me and it brought a tear to my eye. Its on my desk under my screen so I can see it while I sit here.

I don't think either of us want anymore food today.

Its been just wonderful and the sky has been so blue all day but the sun on the way home was right in my eyes to the point that I had to stop a couple of time as it blinded me.

Gillx Report 15 Feb 2019 09:02

Morning all

Bright and sunny again, very cold though and a bit of a frost on the grass.

It sounds like you had a wonderful birthday Mel, apart from the sad news. I'm looking forward to seeing the photos. What a lot of lovely flowers on display. I noticed I have some flowering anemones so I've moved the pot so they can be seen from the bungalow. I did noticed the squirrels started on some of my bulbs again, I'd only just taken the covers off to, so they're nearer to the bungalow now, so we can keep an eye on them.

It's really quiet here today, no workmen so far, so we're not sure if anyone is going to turn up today. The neighbours front garden is full of building materials they need for the rendering and there are pallets everywhere. The skip is overflowing but can't be taken away with all the stuff in front of it. It looks a right mess and don't get me going on all the dust everywhere, it's going to take us ages to clean our car and bungalow once all the workmen have left.

I've been told the work will be finished at the end of March Anne, I can't wait, my chest is really sore today with all the coughing I did yesterday, it's really starting to get me down having workmen and dirt all the time. I just wish they'd get on with it. The workmen seem to stand around chatting most of the time so it's no wonder it's taking so long. The new neighbours told us before Christmas they were moving in yesterday, (middle of February) so it looks like the workmen are about six weeks behind so far. At least the roof was finally finished yesterday, but the roofer never did come back early this morning like he said he was going to do, to take the old slate tiles away. I'm not surprised though, they say a lot then do hardly anything when they say they're going to do it.

Going to take some cough medicine now and have a cuppa, with a bit of luck it'll stop this cough for a while.

good morning gill, that brick dust is nasty, have you considered getting a face mask to wear if you go out into the garden when they are making the dust? You can get them in chemists.
It is a frosty start this morning but sunny and bright. OH has gone to golf, he hasn't been for a week as he hurt his ankle the last time her played so I am hoping he will be on today. We walked almost 3 miles yesterday and he was fine so fingers crossed. Better get on and start clearing things away ready for the 2 year old's visit on Sunday. :-D

Frank Report 15 Feb 2019 10:50

Good morning to you all,

Yes, Gill AnninGlos took the words out of my mouth "GET SOME FACE MASKS" they aren't expensive, but do an excellent job in keeping the dust from your lungs. We have SPOKEN, so get OH to pop to the Chemist to get some TODAY ;-) ;-) ;-)

Glad you had a memorable Birthday Mel, I can just see you two ,racing around on your scooters. lol lol. Your meal sounded very nice. Is the restaurant close by. ??

Nothing to report from this and, apart from Ros has gone to help Carolyn get dressed. The can't get her supportive STOCKING on her bad leg. She is then taking her to have her nails done, ready for her holiday. I expect then they will go to Tesco's, why they do that overtime they go out I JUST DON'T KNOW. :-| :-| :-| :-|

Beautiful morning here, Very heavy frost first thing. Well 8.30 am was first thing this morning for me. I couldn't sleep again last night so came out to the lounge and read for an hour. Slept well once I got off. Hence me getting up at 8.30 am.

All showered, and I checked my ribs. I can hardly see where they put the "DRAIN" in. I am so lucky, that I heal very quickly. I will cancel my trip to the nurse for Monday. If I need another dressing, Ros can put it on.

Julia bought Ros and I a EGG SANDWICH. made by HOTEL CHOCOLATE of London. I have never seen one in my life. It's in the shape of two slices of bread with an Egg showing through the bread. Most weird. She is now talking of treating us to a INDUCTION HOB. Why, I just don't know. She has a friend who works for a company that distributes all major electrical appliances. Her Washing Machine packed up this week, and he got her a new one. Retail price £945.00 His price to Julia £420.00. A good friend to have ;-) ;-) ;-)

Pulled Pork for dinner tonight. Nor sure yet what to do with it. Any suggestions ??

I spoke to my SIL and Sue my Niece last night. My sister is at home, bed ridden. Carers are calling FOUR time a day, and either of her sone are sleeping at her house every night. To be honest, I never expected to hear that she was home from hospital. I think it's now a case of wait and see. !!!!

Be safe today, whatever you are doing. xxxx

Morning all and Gill and AnninG,

Lovely bright morning here too after a very frosty start but the sky's blue and its promissing to be another glorious day.

The workman here has started with the staple gun. I think these two big frames may be the last. He's putting the wire on them now as I type.

I was so tired last night I went to bed early for me at 1am. Got up twice for the loo and then after the last time I slept till 25 past 10. I must have needed it even though I did'nt walk all around the gardens yesterday But I did drive there and back and all around too.

Iv'e got lamb chops out of the freezer for tonight and I shall do stuffed jacket pots with them and brocc and carrots.

I also have to go to Mole Valley for chicken food and pick up the T plates we ordered for the new chicken run but that will be after lunch.

Hi Mel, If you hadn't posted it would n;y be me, you and Annin Glos. Where is everyone

Yes that's the chocolate makers. Have you herd of them before ??

I have just done the most STUPID THING. I decided to do JACKET SPUDS to go with the pulled pork. I found TWO BIG POTATO's from the bag, and got a skewer from the draw,to prick them through, before drizzling in olive oil and putting in tin foil. I didn't get my HAND out of the way when I pricked through the potato. NOT ONCE BUT TWICE, so I have two nice HOLES in my right hand, which don't seem to want to stop BLEEDING. I have put ;loads of pressure on the tissue, but each time I look at it, it starts bleeding again.

Ros will make coleslaw later and I might have some chopped up Ham, to go with the grated cheese, which I have just done.

Ros is in the front garden again putting in more plants, and mini daffs. She has done the two planters outside the front door also, and they look great. She does love her garden.xx

Back to my book, see you later.
