Afternoon Everyone,
Yes, how the time flies by........March already. It's been back to dull and dreary here today but at least no rain up to now.
Good luck with the mower Frank.....I hope you get it! :-) That's good news and reassuring for Ros they are happy with her and she doesn't need anything more doing. Hopefully the boiler won't cost too much to repair as well.
I hope the scan is quick Mel. I hate them as well and find them quite painful sometimes and have to stand on tiptoe as well. Then there's that waiting and wondering after till you get the results. I won't be called for any more so have a big note in my diary to ring them for an appointment in July.
AnnG you sound like me with cameras! I have had 4-5 Panasonics and the last one I had for last Christmas was a bridge camera and has one of those twist and twizzle viewfinders. I didn't know their smaller cameras had them now. It's about the only thing I know how to work on the new one yet though! I'm not sure it's much better than the pocket ones I have though, they are so easy to slip in your bag and carry around and easier to hold steady. Maybe, when I get more used to the new one and have tried the different features I will like it more.
OH thought of somewhere else I might get trousers today so off we went for me to look! No success, so I am sticking with the first ones I got and will shorten them tomorrow while OH is at footie and I can concentrate on what I am doing!! We called in their restaurant while we we there though and had cod in parsley sauce with mash and peas. It's so long since we had that and it was lovely, so I must remember to do some at home, but with more veg.
The huge gate was fitted across the close between us and the new properties yesterday, but it hasn't been shut yet. A breakdown truck brought a car back to the new bungalow at the end our side this morning. Backed it all the way down past us, then left it there while he sussed out how much room there was and ended up driving it back up to the other end of the close to unload it as he realised there was no room to turn a right angle into the bungalow driveway. Gawd knows how they would have loaded the car if it had broken down at home........push it up the road to the truck I expect!
We got a notification this morning from the council about the new warehouse development that I found out about the other night. OH said they were cock a hoop about it at the meeting he was at. I said they could well be as I bet none of them would be living near to it. It's supposed to be creating over 2000 new jobs, so the roads around the M1 junction are bound to busier and they get gridlocked at peak times now. I'm wondering how floodlit it will be too with operating 24 hours a day. We shall put in our objections but no doubt no-one will listen! One good thing was as part of it they will put in a relief road from the other end of the village past it and almost to the M1 junction, which will take all the huge damaging lorries away from the village centre's narrow roads and old buildings.
Better do a few jobs now..........where did today go?

Afternoon All I'm late today. I have just got back from the hairdressers .I had to go over to the salon in Geddington today. Nigel didnt have time to dry my hair so I have had get it dried quickly . All done now :-D
Fingers crossed for the Lawn Mower Frank. If you can get it for £20 ,that sounds a good deal. So Ros is signed off now .They must be really happy with her recovery.
What a performance you had at the Tip AnnG :-S. I havent been to ours for years as Chris is the one who usually has that job,and I don't complain :-D. How did OH hurt his ankle? Was it Golf? :-D
Sorry to hear you lost one of your Old Girls Mel. She had a good home with you. I had a message from this friend in Plymouth last night saying one of her Rescue Hens had been put to sleep. She had only had her for 4 months . She wanted a private cremation !!! but couldnt afford the £120. I have to say it did sound a bit strange wanting to have the hen cremated . I think I have said before that she is a bit eccentric . Ann how far from you will this big Warehouse be? As you said your objections will no doubt be ignored. We put our objections in to do with the proposed road right next to us. It sounds a bit of a nightmare space wise at the end of your close . I think it seems a bit over the top having this huge electric gate.
Hope your boobs aren't too sore after being squished in the vice Mel :-S. At least it is done now. I must be due for a Mammogram this year. I actually can't remember when I had it done ,but it must be a couple of years at least.
I hope I haven't missed anyone out. But must get on as I am all behind . I do not like going to the hairdressers so late in the day. At least my next 3 appointments are at 2pm :-D

Yes all squished and over and done with and I did'nt have to wait much at all she just took all my details and told me to go in the cubicle and get undressed. When I cme out and was getting dressed another lady came in and I heard her say her date of birth. It was 6.2.49 so as I came out I said to her " So you had a big birthday this year too" she burst out laughing and said she hoped we would be around for the next big one.
Oh has the nest boxes fixed to the house now so its coming along.
We hav'nt had a bad day today weatherwise as its been dry all day and sunny but it just started that fine rain about a quarter past 5. I had just gone down to cut some ivy off the post in the corner when oh decided he was coming in and told me to come in as it was raining, NOW or he would lock me out!! He did'nt though but he made himself a cuppa and not me............ cheek.
Then Echo would'nt turn the kitchen light on so he had to have a fiddle with his phone to get her to turn it on.
Here I am getting ready to get dinner. We are having lamb in pockets with lots of nice salad in them. I don't do anything else but have some small trifles for dessert.

Evening all,
Just a little sun here today i did hang washing out but as there was no blow they came in a bit damp . DIL's father is in hospital again, he's had the tingling feeling down the side of his face again just like last time when they said they thought it was a stroke but they are not sure this time if he has had another stroke or not ,he's seen one doctor today but was waiting to see a Neurologist so then they might know a bit more .
Frank i hope you manage to get the mower ,as you say if Harvey can mend yours you can have this one as a spare ,is it a light weight one ? That's good news for Ros being taken off the clinic list they must be happy with her progress . Hopefully the circuit board for the boiler won't be to pricey and can be replaced .
Mel hope you managed to do the steps ok with your knee and sorry you've lost one of your girls at least she ended her days happily with you .
AnnG you'll have to remember to go a little later to the tip so you miss the queues I noticed at our tip they have steps you have to climb for all metal things ,so any thing heavy and they expect you to climb up steps to chuck it in the bin !!!!!
So you've not had much luck finding some trousers Ann at least you have one pair you can wear once you've turned them up . I wonder if the new gate will ever be closed and if it is closed how many cars will just park in front of it .
Jane have you christened the oven yet ? or is it still sparkly clean :-D I've never used the roasting bags i suppose if you can cook a roast in the bag and it browns nicely you could do roast potatoes in them too ,it's most certainly the roasts that mess the oven up . Hair cut for us next week .
No Anne or Gill for a few days ,hope they are both ok.

Happy St David's day everyone
Because of the continuous error message I haven't looked in for a while so haven't read any of the posts yet.
Had some bad news regarding my favourite and youngest niece Naomi, She is the youngest daughter of Peter's youngest sister and is in her early 30's and Mum to two little girls. At the moment she is in the Eastbourne Hospital having been taken there with a suspected mild stroke, She has now been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis which is devastating news. She had only just passed her final exams to qualifying as a dispensing chemist.
Having the usual week otherwise cooking gardening etc.

O Anne what sad news about your favorite niece and with two little girls. I am so sorry.
Jane I expect you have plenty more wine to sip and enjoy but dos'nt it make you cross when it happens like that. So easily done.
It was lamb kebabs in pitta bread I did for dinner. Love them but you get so sticky with the chilli sause.
Mandy hope DIL's father is ok and its not another stroke. Does he just get the tingling down his face or is there other symtoms too?
Ann have you looked on Amazon for some trousers. They have some nice things on there sometimes. I like the cotton tops and bought one last year but then the weather turned so I hav'nt worn it yet. It must seem funny not going to beading today. |It throws the week out when you miss something you have been doing for a while.
Well I am now going to watch a bit of Escape to the Chateau DIY as I hav'nt seen any this week so far.

Good morning Mel, and all.
Damp dark morning here. I don't think we will see the YELLOW thing today. !!!!
I had a terrible night last night. I doubt I had more than a couple of hours The things that go through your minds are unbelievable. I was running through my mind, things that happened in childhood (WAR TIME), scrumping the fruits as they came into season, Leaving school in 1953, and starting work within 5 days, and so it went on and on. Was glad when I was getting up for a COT.
I have spoken to Harvey to thank him for sending Brian, a plumber friend of his to look at the boiler, So far so good. Touch wood, it's still coming on and going off at the times set. He said whatever the outcome regarding the boiler HE and Julia will handle any expense. Even if it turns out to be a NEW BOILER. What a big weight off my mind that is. He is coming up around 5.00 pm today to try to put the mower back together. I haven't heard back about the Mower, so have put an opening bid on it. £20.90. It has another 2 dats to run, so I might be lucky that no one else bids on it.
I rang my sisters number this morning and her Son Paul answered the phone. There is no change in my sisters condition. So t's just a matter of waiting and see how she goes. My birthday card arrived yesterday, I am not sending any flowers as Paul said she won't be able to see them and enjoy them. So I should save my money. When I see Simon tomorrow, I will see if he and Sally can spare a day, to take me down there to visit my Sister and SIL. I will pay the fuel costs. (if he will let me) and treat them to a meal on the way back.
Ros has just gone to meet Martine, just as the SUN came out. Brian, is still in a very poorly way with his stomach. I don't think there is anything the hospital can do for him now. He has seen so many specialists over the years, and still nothing has been to his advantage. Poor Martine, she is the only wage earner now, and I know the mortgage has been cleared by his Mother. But they still have the everyday expenses to find.
Everyone you speak too at the moment has someone who is sick with STROKES CANCER and BROKEN LIMBS. No wonder I stay indoors all the time. LOL LOL But having said that, I might walk up to the football club at lunchtime, to watch SPURS V CHESEA. Ros will pick me up when I ring her.
Again I see you are all getting with your lives without to many problems, which I am pleased about.
I must get a bite to eat and take my tablets, then get my shower, and get dressed. See you all latter. xxxxx

Morning all
Sunny here after a couple of days of rain.
OH moved some pots around this morning so he could put the new bulbs in pots where we can see them, they are all showing signs of buds so we should have a nice display of flowers soon. It's been very quiet here this week as the workmen only turned up on Monday and Tuesday.
I figured out why I couldn't get online, I must of knocked the phone line when I was hoovering and once I put it back in properly the Internet came back on, so here I am at last. With not being able to get online I've managed to finish all the 6 cushions for mum, so she's coming around one day next week to pick them up.
Pleased to see Ros has now been taken off the list Frank and that you've had your boiler fixed. Good luck with your bid for the lawn mower.
Hope the results of your scan are okay Mel, sorry to hear about your girl, she had a good life with you.
I had to smile when you said you didn't want to dirty your new cooker Jane, I was exactly the same when I got mine. I should imagine you could cook other meats in a bag, not sure if the roast potatoes would work though, but you don't know until you try do you?
We have steps at our tip AnnG, it's a nuisance isn't it? Yes, maybe going a bit later in the day will avoid the queues.
Sorry to hear about your DIL's father Mandy, it must be a worrying time for everyone.
I hope you find the trousers you are looking for soon Ann. At least you have a pair once you've taken them up. That gate sounds as if it's going to be more trouble than it's worth. I hope your objections to the building, works you never know they may listen to you. I'll keep my fingers crossed for good news.
Sorry to hear about Naomi Anne and such a young age to. I can imagine how devastating it must be for everyone. I must admit I was getting fed up of the error page to but thankfully it seems okay today.

Have done up Em's birthday present but when I went to get the potted plant I bought her and put in the lounge as its the coolest room it had wilted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I watered it well before I put it in there too. Its been sitting on the work surface in the kitchen and is picking up but not quickly enough. I want to put it in some paper but can't do it till I know its ok.
You will have a lovely lot of colour in the garden Gill when all your bulbs flower. I forgot to buy any bulbs last year and thought the tulips I did last year and the year before would give a nice show but they nearly all seem to be barren. There are a couple with buds coming so I should get some colour out of them.

Afternoon All
Frank, I had a bad night too but mine was spent tripping to to loo 4 times .I woke up at 3 with a bit of a tummy ache and then it started. I think it might have been the Shallot and Onion Gravy plus Shallot butter on the pork steak. Oniony things have that effect :-S. Sreak and Chips tonight with Mushrooms,Tomatoes and Peas. NO ONION.
Anne, that is awful news about your Niece Naomi( I love the name Naomi). You don't hear it much. Hopefully with all the various meds etc these days she will be able to stay well for many many years. She is so young and with little children too it will be a worry. I ahve known someone now for about 30 years and she had MS back then. The last time I saw her she was still doing well. So there is plenty of hope for Naomi.
What a great gesture from Harvey Frank about paying for a new boiler if you need to have one. More money in your bank account :-D. At least you have heard about your sister now even though she is not in good health.I am sure her sons and the carers will be looking after her well.
Whose a silly billy then Gill pulling outt he phone line !!!!. :-D. At least the problem was nothing worse than that . Things like that are so easily done. I bought some Roasting bags this morning and it has instructions for roasting meat so I will try with the Pork tomorrow. Roast Potatoes I think would not work . I can't imagine them getting crispy. They will mess the glass up on the oven door for sure :-S. Never mind . I can't keep it spotless for ever however much I would like to. At least the oven has these catalytic liners which are supposed to be self cleaning.
Mel what a pity about the plant you got for Em. Has it picked up enough now to wrap?Or will you have to nip out and get something else?
I am sneezing my head of here and my ears are itching like crazy. It is feeling hayfevery .Time for a Piriteze me thinks. The wind is picking up a bit and with lots of blossom out now and the pollen from the Yew Hedge this is what is making me sneeze. How difficult it is to sort out itchy inner ears. You can't scratch ! I just make ridiculous throat noises.
The temporary traffic lights just outside are causing havoc as both set of lights seem to be stuck on red !!!!!I waited for ages this morning and could see the chap the other end getting a bit exasperted so in the end I just went and everyone followed :-D. It is only a small stretch so you can easily see traffic coming the other way and its only about 100yards ,so there would be any accidents.
The clouds are building up a bit now after what has been a really lovely morning.I have washing needing to go out .A couple of wool jumpers that cant go in the tumble dryer so I had better get them out pretty swiftly.

Afternoon All,
Sunny here but quite cool today. Yesterday I woke up with no voice and was expecting I'd be getting one of the bad throats I sometimes get, but no, this morning my voice was back, my throat fine and the cold seems to be clearing up at last. :-)
Sorry to hear your DIL's father is back in hospital Mandy. It must be worrying after he seemed to be ok again as well. Hopefully this time they will be able to be sure what is wrong and treat him.
What awful news for Naomi and you all to come to terms with Anne. Just as it sounded as if everything was going so well for her too and she's such a young age. Life isn't fair is it.
How nice of Harvey to offer to pay for a new boiler if you need one Frank! :-) Hopefully you won't, but at least you know it won't be a problem if you do! It looks like you might get the mower which would be good if you do. It's handy to have a spare if the old one can be mended. OH is in your neck of the woods today to watch Blisworth play at Wootton. I should have told him to give you a wave in your direction! LOL. :-D
Mel, you are right, it has put me all out with not going to beading yesterday. Still, I did manage to finish off the Labradorite pendant at home. I started it ages ago!!! I will get a pic to send later. Glad you managed the steps ok and that they were quick doing your scan. I always think it is nice when you walk out after, a bit like a trip to the dentist. I think I would enjoy the lamb pockets.....minus the chilli sauce though. The chicken shed must be coming on well if you are doing the chicken boxes. I had to smile at the chicken 'Inspector' checking things out, but was sorry you lost one of the old girls. It was a good job you rescued the 2 new ones though. I've been enjoying the chateau prog too.
AnnG it is just the same at our tip. OH calls it DIY tipping as they have big containers and you have to make sure you put things in the right ones. I used to take stuff on my own at one time, but couldn't climb up the steps carrying anything heavy, the way it is now. I expect the chaps there have to help some people. Ours is only open certain days now and doesn't take some items like paint (which you need a permit for as well nowadays!). We have to go to another tip to dispose of that. It's no wonder we see fly tipping everywhere. :-S
That was a nuisance knocking the wine over Jane.........was it your first?? LOL. :-D The shape of wine glasses just asks for them to be knocked over though. Luckily it was white as you say. One thing I like about the gas oven I had decades ago was that you could cover the bottom and top of the oven with foil to catch any mess or spits or drips. Whip the foils out after and it was sparkling clean again. I can't do it with my electric ovens though. I suppose it's because there are electric elements at the top and bottom. :-S
I was wondering where you were Gill. You got the cushions done quickly, your mum will be pleased! It's good you have had a bit of peace from the workmen this week. Your pots of bulbs will look great when the flowers all open.

My 11 year old oven has those liners Jane. I wouldn't have any other now as you just switch to the cleaning setting and it cleans itself, just leaving a bit of white powder in the bottom that wipes off with a cloth. You will save your back and loads of time and mess!! It's a shame they won't do the shelves though. :-S What a pity onions have that effect on you, but at least you knew it was that and not a bug. I love them and they have no effect on me, but neither do brussels or baked beans either. LOL. Thanks for the reminder as I need to get some hay fever tablets!

Just sent a PM to you Ann Shame Frank doesn't watch Blissworth footie. He might well have bumped into your OH :-D :-D I think I would have enjoyed those Lamb Pockets Mel but like Ann without the Chilli Sauce.
No voice sounds like a bit of laryngitis Ann.I used to get that sometimes with no sore throat . I think you might have heard me like that many years ago(if that makes sense)
Did anyone watch the programme last night on the new Trial treatment for Parkinsons? It was amazing . I just want everyone to be well now but with half having the drug and half having the Placebo who knows who will come out well. If I have got it right it was a 6 year trial.I found the programme quite emotional at times. I did watch a programme about the WHO ,who were one of my favourtite bands back in the 70's. I was rocking :-D :-D
Ann ,I hadn't even had a sip of the wine before I knocked the glass over. I had just poured it and put it on the table. Then went to move my laptop to set up placemats ,knives and forks, and the edge of the laptop just caught the glass. Long stem so easily tipped over :-S. Just looking a the carpet now . No sign of any spillage :-D(phew) . I am wondering how James and Jess are getting on today trying to sort out 'issues' .They were not planning on going out anywhere 'just talking' Hannah and Gareth are going ot see a play tonight. We bought tickets for their Xmas present . I need to ask Chris what it is called again. Something like Alys Always . The girl from Downton Abbey who was Mr Bates's wife is in it . I am going to have to google this now !!!.Chris is in the summerhouse so cant ask him . oh Johanna Froggett ? (sp) that rings a bell.

We went in to Cheltenham on the bus today , the weather was ok, it stayed dry although turned a lot colder just before we caught the bus home at 2pm.
M&S was disappointing. We (I) have (Had) a £10 voucher to spend and a 20% off voucher as well. I tried on three different style of checked (all different checks) trousers. All sized 16 which I am wearing. The first pair was too big, (a bit big on the waist but I am at my lowest weight at the moment) very big and baggy on the b*m. The check was very smart but they definitely didn't fit well. And were miles too long, I am only 5ft2/3 but regular normally are the right length and short too short. I then tried on a red check straight leg pair same size, and could not do the button on the waist up, the waist when I checked was an inch smaller than the first pair. I also tried on another black and white checked pair (the final two were both from the Classic range, the first was not.) Both the last two were 'ankle grazers' which I know on me are normal length trousers. The black and white checked ones did up ok and were not loose on the waist like the first pair. but were really baggy round my rear and too wide in the leg for somebody my height.
Aside from the fact that the styles were different why on earth were there three different sized waist fittings all size 16?
Anyway I ended up buying a bra!!
We then had lunch in Wetherspoons as usual and a mooch around John Lewis before catching the bus home. It was a slow walk round the shops as OH's ankle is still playing up.
Such a lot of posts to catch up on. so sorry to hear about your Niece Anne, I hope she will be able to continue working with medication to help her. A worry though when there are children.
Mel sorry you lost one of your girls, however, what a good home she had when you saved her. Pleased you got the squeegy over.
Jane no onions for you in future then, sounds as though the meal was too rich for you as well.
Frank lovely to know that you will have help with buying the new boiler if one is necessary, and that you are in with a chance of getting the mower.
Gill, oh dear, easily done if you are over enthusiastic with the cleaner!! Never mind, at least you got the cushion covers finished with no internet interruptions.
OH is talking about dragging me into the 21st century and getting a new phone. My main problem is not being able to hear on the phone, even with my hearing aids. However, I am waiting for new ones so maybe they will be an improvement. It does take ages though, it is 8 weeks since I had the hearing test. I am not sure which phone I will have, Being used to the Ipad and Apple I am tempted to got for an Iphone but not, of course the latest. However there are loads on the market so I need to do a bit of research.

I went down to have a look at where he could be building but could'nt see anything but theres so much stuff in there it could be anywhere. As I was in there he landed on the bottom door with a beak full of green moss saw me and flew away. I came out and went up the back of the shsed to the other window and waited. Good luck finding a phone that suits you AnninG. I have an old old one and don't know how to use these modern ones. As long as I can ring oh if I am out and text Di I am ok. I like my l;ittle phone too. Those big ones take up too much room in my bag as I don't have a big bag.
What a nuisance about the trousers. I am 5' 2" and I bought as pair of fleece trousers in the wrong length and hav'nt shortened them yet. I hate it when you get a baggy bottom in slacks. I have skinny legs and a big tum so have trouble finding jeans to fit nicely but the shop in the garden centre in Bude do a good jean for about £16 and they fit nicely but they only do them in darkish denim blue and black.

Strangely I have bought a couple of pairs of M&S jeans fairly recently and find the Classic ones fit me but ordinary smart trousers seem to be a no no. Just chatted ( email) with daughter and she says that they have also changed to length, although she is taller than me she has shorter legs so has always worn the 'short' trousers from M&S and recently could not find any to fit so bought Monteray ones from Debenhams. Which is OK if you have a Debs near (we still have).
