Afternoon all,

Another lovely sunny day ,the family came this morning and son put the cleaner polish on the wood burner so that looks a lot better .

Ann i want to get some of those Pom Pom makers too i think it was a set of four different sizes for 2.99 ,the girls do like doing any thing crafty ,i think they would like to do some Pom Poms ,there was also a Latch hook Cushion kit and Latch Hook Pom Pom Rug kit .

What a shame you have the rain Gill and just when you want to get on with your screening too, at least OH's tree is keeping you busy .

I expect AnnG is well on her way home now .

Hi all, Have been SICK, last night and today. Very poorly upset tummy also. The four of them went off to Lunch and left me sitting in my dressing gown. with a glass of water. Doing doing anything regarding food. I might have a bowl of soup later.

Frank, I am sorry you have been so sick . Was it something you ate last night? I can't remember if you ate out . What a pity you have to miss todays lunch out.I do hope you will be feeling back to normal by tomorrow. I wouldn't even have soup today unless it was that clear soup. Sometimes an empty tummy for 24 hours is the best (except for fluids).

I hope AnnG and OH are safely back on home ground now and have had a good flight . Hannah is here and is fast asleep on the settee LOL . Great company she is :-D. I think it was a late night somewhere last night. James is just off out .Chris is having a nap too . I might go and see if I can find Thomas for some decent conversation :-D :-D

Yes I'm really pleased with the Begonias this year and the Busy Lizzies are looking good too.

We'll we were sitting out but it's now clouded over a bit so in we came ,I had to put the oven on and get the veg done ,Toad in the hole tonight with lots of runners :-D there's still plenty coming on to pick so looks like we'll be eating them for another week or two.

Gill this family tree is really keeping you busy .It's a whopper !!. I wonder how many more people you will find to add to it?

Yes all our washing is done. Hannah seems to have brought some of hers with her !.She will do that in the morning ,so I can add what we have then :-D .She is taking her car in for a service in the morning so Chris will follow her in and bring her home before he goes off the the Dentist .I was beginning to think I might need to go to the Dentist too as I have had an aching tooth (not a pain) just an annoying ache. But I think it might just be a bit of bacon that got stuck in between two teeth that has just caused it. I had a good go with a floss stick thing just now to see If there was anything left but nothing came out. Saying that it does feel a little easier. I don't want to poke around too much and just irritate it.
Madam is still fast asleep :-S. I think after months of doing her Thesis ,plus working has just exhausted her ,then the Lisbon trip which although was lovely was not that relaxing.She now has a few weeks to recharge her batteries before beginning her new job as Clinical Phycologist. My God she has worked so hard and for so many years to get here. I would take my hat off to her (If I wore one :-D)

Mandy our fire is all clean and ready to go now too. Not that I am hoping ot light it too soon.A little more nice warm weather will hopefully be on the cards before we fire up :-D

Jane, I hope your tooth has settled down now so you don't need the dentist! I bet Hannah is looking forward to starting her new job. Will it be in London?

Mandy there seem to be pom poms on everything just now.....hats, cushions, throws! Remember those hats we had as little girls with a cords you tied in a bow under your chin that had pom poms on the cords. I seem to remember swinging them round and round (when mum wasn't looking). You are doing well with your runners. I must have another look at ours tomorrow, but they were fading fast the other day.

I cut OH's hair this afternoon and he's trimmed his beard. He's also sorted his suit for the funeral tomorrow. It will be nice to see him looking so smart again. He dressed like that every day when he worked and I first met him, but retirement and doing different things means we've both become practical and comfy with what we wear most days. I used to wear suits too for work most days, but don't think I've worn a skirt for about 15 years now!

Gill, I haven't even really started on my American rellies, except for the direct line to the quaker settler who was a friend of George Fox. Some of his children came back to England, including the one I am descended from, but I haven't started looking for the children of the others! I also have Australian ones I haven't pursued yet as well. You never dream when you start that you will be finding rellies who crossed the seas!

Ann, I don't think they do pom pom things on the end of childrens hats these days because of possible strangling !!!. Not sure I am correct about that but it seems to ring a bell.
I `m sure OH will look very smart for the funeral tomorrow. Like you say since retirement clothes are just for comfort . Long gone are the days of ties . Chris will only wear a tie when absolutely necessary . He actually stopped wearing ties at work a good few years before he retired as did most of the GPs. When he does wear one now he says it feels like it is choking him and will leave the top button on his shirt undone.

He trimmed his beard this afternoon after 2 weeks of not doing it. I thought he looked a bit unkempt on holiday LOL

Hannah will be working at The Royal Free in London for a Charity called Maggies. (google Maggies ) It is for families going through Cancer.

Just a quickly to say we got home at 6pm had a good quick flight very tired now after a bad night and early start. Speak tomorrow.

Hello both Anns and Vera. Welcome home Ann G nice to know you are back safely.

I wouldn't have thought of that but expect you are right as it could so easily happen Jane. I remember little boys pulling hats off from behind girls heads at school! Yikes, now I've just had a chill run down my spine as I've realised someone could strangle me with my scarf!!!!! :-S I think us all putting a bit of weight on makes ties feel tight too. OH soon takes his off after these occasions and, like Chris, for everyday his neck button is always undone. He has just bought some Pringle short sleeve shirts from (of all places) one of the garden centres and they were only £6.99 each!! I think they were just clearing the remains of the summer range as the labels were removed, but the word Pringle is embroidered on the pocket so they couldn't remove that. I think he got 3 or 4 of them they were such a bargain!

What Hannah will be doing will be so worthwhile, if a bit upsetting at times. Did you see the programmes where those 20 year olds volunteered in hospitals? I thought it such a good idea after watching it. Some of those young people matured so much in those few weeks and became very caring and thoughtful as they started to see how life really is for some compared with their own lives. Even the lad who'd never made a cup of tea or coffee before.

I love the sound of the pom pom rug Mandy. I was just wondering if you could also make pom poms using old material cut into thin strips or whether it would be too bulky to wind enough on? Maybe Mel would know as she has pom pom makers. A friend who did the peg weaving last week had cut narrow strips of some of her hubby's old polo shirts to mix in with other threads and it was very effective as the cut strips had curled like cord.

Sounds like an early night for AnnG and Vera and wake up tomorrow refreshed!
