Happy Birthday to OH Mel :-D Have you bought him something nice?
I had a phone call yesterday to say I have an appointment this afternoon at the hospital with a Surgeon from Leicester. So today is the day I will know just what the situation is. I am definitely feeling very anxious now. Hannah and Chris will be with me. Then at 5.30 I am having my hair cut. I asked if I could go when the salon was quiet so Nigel has put me in as the last client.I just couldnt face seeing all the staff and maybe someone I might know.
It started off lovely and sunny this morning but now it is all cloudy :-S.
Have a nice day everyone.

Morning All,
Dry here at the moment but rain later I think.
I slept well last night and and am off to class with my little bag now. OH broke a piece of tooth off yesterday so needs to see if he can get in at the dentist. He's just gone to his friend's brother's now to pick up..........yes more progs and whatever! I suspect things are going to have to go in the conservatory now, but he is taking the club records to a friend at a match tonight. He runs a sort of museum of the old chub I think.
Better dash........

Morning all,
What a miserable day we have just like the day after bonfire night we used to have when I was a kid. Dull dreary and wet. There was always the smell of smoke in the air the day after but back then there were lots of people having fireworks and bonfires and we did'nt live in the proper country then. I used to have bonfire parties when friends and family came round and they all brought fireworks. We would have the display by the bonfire let off usually by my dad and then soup and sausage rolls and sandwiches. It wa salways tomato soup, dads favorite. On the way to school the next day it would be how many rocket sticks you could find and how big they were.
Oh's birthday today and he would rather forget about it. He hates birthdays and Christmas. Too much fuss he says.
Hope those with bad knees are feeling better this mroning and that you all had a good nights sleep last night, I did after all the trapsing about round the shops yesterday.
How's the eye this morning Frank? not long to go now till you have it seen too. Did you enjoy your steak and kidney pie?
Hope Jane is enjoying Hannah's stay and sending wishes and (((hugs))). <3

Evening All,
Mostly dry today after a downpour at lunchtime. The puddles are all back at the sides of the roads and the brook in the next village was starting to run over the road as it was too deep to all run through the pipes underneath.
I wonder if Vera is looking at the back of her eyelids yet! Such a brilliant description from Mandy it always makes me smile! :-D Maybe not though if it is a good speaker. Did he do the hoovering Vera? Mine's retort if prompted would be that he 'had it in hand!' A likely story methinks!
I was reading this morning about that poor 18 week old puppy that had a heart attack and died because of noisy fireworks. They've got louder and louder over the years and, as OH says, it sounds like military warfare going on at times. They seem to be ignoring the clamp down a few years ago and round here started well before Diwali. Lots of weddings have them now too. Gone are the days when your dad would bring home a small box assortment of Roman Fountains, catherine wheels, volcanoes and jumping jacks, with the big finale of the rocket fired from an empty milk bottle! I used to like those green and red matches too. I had my coat all burnt when one of the airplane ones shot under my arm and got stuck when I was about 10 years old. Shortly after I was married the first time we heard our letterbox rattle and found a lit one in our porch that some kids had pushed through. We were so lucky we were at home and that hubby flipped it outside with a board. I feel sorry for the wild animals and birds and wonder what effect it has on them. It must be quite a worry for those with thatched roofs too. There was a free half hour display tonight at the old manor where we had lunch today and I think just having organised displays would be best, with strict rules about dates and times. At least then people would know when to keep their pets in and it would reduce the burden on A & E..
I thought my left knee was as better as it gets, but walking round Primark this afternoon to hopefully get my Kimono (which I didn't) OH started chivvying me as he needed the loo and there are none that end of the retail park since BHS closed. Of course I wanted to see what tops and cardigans there were as I don't often go there, so speeded up a little and ended up limping as we went out. I was so cross it has happened again, so this time I'll make sure I do like Gill and be careful for longer this time.
I'm off to bed now as I feel so tired today.....OH has already gone! I hope you all get a good night's sleep and that backs and knees feel better tomorrow.

Back home unloaded and all put away and had a drink and a bit of cake.
I went up the High St today to get some more wool for something I am trying to make. Still not sure if its going to work out yet but will let you know when its done.
Sorry you had a bad night Vera and AnnG. Vera you should have just got the vac out and left it where he has to walk past it to remind him he was going to do it.
I also bought myself a pair of Christmas socks ( my secret passion is pretty socks) and some Christmas tags for presents and a stand for 50p that may take a couple of my big decorated cones on the stall. Its black so I may spray it white and see if I can add another arm on it. The other thing I bought was some wooden pegs to paint. I want to do some for shopping lists on your supermarket trolley and some Christmas ones too. O and some more pencils, 8 in a pack for 69p in Poundstretcher. They are pink but shall be painted. Sandra would like one in pink I know.
Oh has his usual curry tonight and I have mince and mash with cabbage. HOme cooked as I saved it and froze it when I did the sheep sh*t pie last week.
Shame you can't get pink sparklers...................

Sandra's just had her first sparkler and loved it, she was a bit concerned when it got closer to her hand, even though she had gloves on, so when it was finished I showed her how long the handle bit was, so now she's looking forward to the next four. She's going to have two more after her dinner, then the final two after the "Pride of Britain" has finished. She's been looking forward to watching that programme, so once it's finished she'll enjoy the last of her sparklers more then.
You should of seen her face, it lit up brighter than the sparkler and she gave both OH and I lots of big hugs. It's such a shame the pub shut down that we normally take her to, but she enjoyed having something to mark the night, even if it wasn't a big firework display. She did watch the neighbours fireworks last night so at least she's seen some this year and you never know there maybe some around later on for her to see too.

Sorry to hear you didn't have a good nights sleep last night Vera. I had a few on the run so I know how you feel. I hope you have a better night tonight, providing the fireworks let you. Did the hoovering get done in the end? Best to rest up if your back is playing you up, the jobs can wait until another day. I know it's not easy to look at them but it's better than your back becoming worse. I'm the same as you at the moment and can see jobs that need doing knowing I can't do them for a few days, but they're not going anywhere so I just try not to look at them. Better to be safe than sorry.
I passed your message onto Sandra about the fireworks AnnG, she said they mentioned something about quieter fireworks being sold in Asda next year, maybe it's like you said with them being so noisy, some of them are really loud and make us jump when we're watching the TV and of course the neighbours dogs then start barking, so having less fireworks around should help them, as I can imagine it would be very stressful for them and of course some people too.
It sounds like you're enjoying Biggles company, I hope he didn't tread any wet muck into your bungalow Frank. Good idea to rest your eye the last thing you need is for it to start playing up again. My knee is much better since I've been resting it and today the pain stopped. I'm still going to rest it though as I'd really like to go out with OH and Sandra in a few days to the Christmas evening event at the garden centre.
OH has bought Sandra some sparklers as a surprise for later, he was going to buy a box of fireworks but they were £75 for a small box, so decided to stick to the sparklers instead as that is far to much money for the amount of fireworks you get in a the box. She's not had any sparklers since she was a little girl, so it'll be a nice surprise for her.

Good afternoon everyone,
Very dull Autumn day here, we have had some rain also.
We have Biggles until Friday. His owners have gone to Paignton on a coach trip. Jenny has been this morning and took him for his walk. It appears he likes to go into the canal for a paddle. He came home with a wet TUMMY and legs.
Ros has gone to Tesco for some bits, she is then going on to try and find me a Christmas Present. I have been looking at more GOLD BRACELETS for her. I missed one yesterday by £5.00. So will have to keep looking.
After a very good nights sleep, I tried my left eye. I COULD SEE OUT OF IT. but now it is cloudy again. So resting it, seems to help. ;-) ;-) ;-)
Sorry friends, I am not able to read the posts, it takes a lot of concentration, and puts strain on my eyes. But I am thinking of you all, and trust you are all well. Will be back again either later, or tomorrow.
Ros is making me a STEAK AND KIDNEY PIE for tonight. Which I must admit is one of my favourites.
See you soon lol lol xxxx

Good afternoon Mel, Gill and Vera and all.
Gill my knee is still a bit painful but I know once it starts to hurt it takes a while to recover, comes of living in a house with stairs!! Tell Sandra what they were saying about fireworks is that there are petitions, one by the RSPCA, to stop the fireworks that have a really loud bang because they cause animals and dogs to suffer and also Veterans. I think there is also a petition to ban private fireworks so that they are only set off by groups with a licence because in some places they are being set off late into the night.
Sorry you had a bad night Vera, thankfully mine was better last night and we also slept in a bit this morning. It is an hour since you posted, has the cleaner appeared out of the cupboard yet?
Typical November 5th weather here today.Horrid damp sometimes drizzly day . We have been to tesco, then to take three lots of stuff to the charity shop, then to pick up prescriptions and finally for coffee and a shared pasty for lunch at the Village community centre. Where we met three different people to chat to. Like buses they never come alone

Morning
Very misty first thing but that has cleared now and it’s just grey and dampish. No sign of sun but it’s not raining.
I had a sleepless night, mainly because of backache. I have done the little bit of ironing I had and prepared tonight’s veg. OH said yesterday that he would hoover through for me but there’s no sign of the cleaner coming out so I am in a quandary. If I don’t do it myself I know it won’t get done, but if I do it he’ll get grumpy and tell me he was going to do it later. Yeah, right, of course he was ;-)
I also need to get outside but don’t want to aggravate my back. There are troughs and pots that need clearing of begonias and busy lizzies, lots of dead stems to cut down and leaves to sweep up so I think I must try and do a little bit today.
Thank you for your kind comments about my granddaughter. She is lovely as she is slim and has good bone structure. She also has the fine translucent skin that often goes with reddish hair. I did tell Mel and AnnG that she has auburn hair. Sorry ladies, that isn’t true. I can’t think what made me say auburn as she is more towards the lighter end of the red spectrum. I think her colouring comes from her other grandmother who is Irish.
I’m off to the Ladies’ Club this evening. I don’t know who the speaker is tonight but I hope he/she is good or I will be falling asleep.
Have a good day everyone.

Morning all
We've just had a bit of rain, but thankfully it has stopped now as OH said he'd tidy up his friends garden for him, it shouldn't take him long though, just a bit of weeding and of course rake the leaves up. Apparently he's get quite a lot and at 80 odd years old can't manged to rake them all up himself, so he'll be pleased with OH's help. Sandra wants another book ordered off Amazon and we've decided to buy two more lights with them being so cheap and good. We don't need them at the moment but you never know and knowing our luck if we decide to buy them later the price will have gone up. OH's also going to order two more double connections, so while he's there he can sort out the shopping to lol :-D
Sorry to hear you have a bad knee to AnnG, it's no joke is it when you can't bend your knee properly. Mine is feeling a little better today so with a bit of luck it'll be okay for me to go to the garden centre later in the week. I hurt my knee in my 20's and have had a lot of problems with it for the last few years, but this time I didn't even realise I'd done something to it, it just started hurting and swelled up a bit. I've been resting it as much as possible over the last two days, so if i keep doing that I should be fine to go out. If I can't make it OH is going to take Sandra and I'll stay here.
I noticed your post late last night Jane as I was closing my laptop down, I was very tired so thought I'd catch up with all the post this morning, I did however pass on your message to Sandra, she's chuffed you like the card and pleased it arrived okay. I think she still has the delayed parcel Mel sent her on her mind, so now worries a bit incase anything she sends doesn't get through, but she went off to bed a happy bunny in the end. Pleased to see you got your slippers and the nice cozy throw, that'll keep you warm by the sounds of it. Hannah's being very helpful, she's a good daughter to you, you must be so proud of her.
I sorted the Penstemon cuttings out a while ago Mel when it was still warm, normally I do them in the spring but the branch broke off and I didn't want to throw it away. They seem okay so hopefully next spring I'll be able to pot them on and have four new plants. The same thing happened to a climbing Fatsia, so I have a cutting of that on the kitchen window sill to. I did have a cutting of the toxic plant but that didn't take and after when I realised it was toxic I would of thrown it away anyway. I did take cuttings of some Fuchsia's years ago around October, my mum's neighbour gave them to me so out of respect to her kindness I potted them up and popped them on the window sill, to my surprise they took and now I have a few of those plants which are becoming quite big now, so I guess some cuttings do work in the winter. I still prefer to do them in the spring though, just to be on the safe side as they work better at that time of the year.
Love the photo of your granddaughter Vera, she's very pretty, I thought it was a lovely photo. I hope your back is feeling better today.
How nice to have Biggles around again Frank, I know how much you enjoy his company. How long is it staying at yours? I hope your eye isn't giving you to much trouble today.
I did really well on OH's American rellies yesterday and think I've finished them now. Today I'm going to compare my tree with the one I've got access to, just to make sure I haven't missed anyone out.
Going to have a cuppa first. OH has just gone to his friend's and the sun is trying it's best to come out, the rain has finally stopped, so that's good.
OH I nearly forgot, one of the neighbours let off a lot of fireworks last night so we all sat on the bench and watched them. Sandra loved it, they were really good lots of rockets so plenty to see. It only last about 15 minutes, but Sandra thought it was great. She made us laugh saying she'd heard on the radio that they are going to make fireworks that don't make any sound (not sure how though :-S :-S) but her comment was, "They can't do that, it's silly, you can't have fireworks without sound" She's right though, it just wouldn't be the same would it?

I’m pleased you found some slippers Jane and that fleecy throw sounds very cosy. As Ann said I bet Thomas will be sharing it with you. How long will Hannah be able to stay with you? I expect she wants to spoil you a bit so let her. She is being a loving daughter. When you don’t feel like eating much soups and milky drinks can be quite nourishing. Just keep having a little of what you fancy as often as you can. I am sure Chris is keeping a good eye on you.
Gill, I am sorry you have a bad knee, and AnnG as well. I hope the pain is easing up for you both now. I am having problems with my back today. Our car is comfortable but I sat in it for 4 hours yesterday and kept turning round to talk to granddaughter in the back seat. I was also a bit cold in the night and think I probably scrunched myself up in a bad position. We are a sorry lot aren’t we what with knees and backs and Frank’s eyes (I hope you are keeping them well rested Frank). Part of the problems of growing older I suppose, although that doesn’t include Gill of course.
I hope your knee problem doesn’t prevent you going to the Garden Centre Christmas event Gill. Sandra will be disappointed if you are not there too. I hope your Penstemons work out OK. I’ve got cuttings of some of mine as well that I hope will root and I agree with Mel. Don’t cut them right down till spring. Mine are quite tall now so I do take a bit of them at this time of year, but no more than a third.
That moon was amazing AnninG. I had seen something on television about it. Even though I am not particularly in to the planets and stars, I would love to see that.
Oh dear Ann, a toilet blockage, yuk. You are very good dealing with it. I would have just yelled for OH and kept well out of the way. That stump work sounds interesting. I am going to google it in a minute and find out exactly what it is.
I like that Ivy necklace Mel. It would make someone a lovely gift as it is original and different. Your pencil wands and witch ball should do well on craft stalls as well. Did your OH repair the pump? Replacing equipment like that can work out very expensive. When we had to get rid of our koi we put our pump and some other equipment on ebay and could have sold it 10 times over. The people who bought it came from the other side of the country and it must have been a day trip for them just to come and collect it but they were so pleased to get something at a sensible price.
The granddaughter we went to see in Tommy sometimes does a bit of photographic modelling. The lady who got her into it is a local GP and F. models for her for free. Other photographers asked her to do a bit as well but she charges them and has a very strict contract drawn up by my son saying exactly what she can and can’t do and insisting she is chaperoned (she was only 16 when she started, 17 now). One of the pictures taken by the GP has just won an award because of the way the picture is lit and she sent F several mounted copies of the photo. She has given us one which is quite big, 20” x 16” and I have tried to photograph it on my iPad so I can email it round. I haven’t made a very good job as I couldn’t find a position where either the window light or the house lights weren’t shining on it or it wasn’t too dark. I also have problems with something called intention tremor which sometimes makes my hands shaky so it may be slightly blurry. Anyway I will send it round. See what you think.
I have written reams today so you have probably all dozed off by now so I’ll say night, night. Sleep well everyone.

Glad you found some slippers Jane and I think Thomas will be competing with you for possession of the fleecy throw. :-) One of my beading friends always finds her cats curled up on her soft beading mats. lol Small amounts of pureed food like Mandy says might be the way to go as you can thin it down more with some gravy to make it like soup. It must be hard when you just don't fancy anything though. How nice of Sandra to make you a card.........I bet she will be so thrilled you have it now. :-D
Oh it does sound quite a house Vera! I would love the new kitchen with dining and room for a sofa.....it is on my wish list! Mum's old house was victorian and had lots of original features the same including the servants' bells and a big hall with Minton floor. They have something else I would love too.....a dressing room. How nice to have all your clothes and shoes so you can see them all. It sounds as if the work they have done has made it fantastic and imagine it when they have finished decorating it. :-D
