A beautiful sunny day for us in the south east corner. I haven't been out yet, so can't comment on the temperature, but I think having bright sunshine lifts one anyway. Thank you for the 'before' photos Ann. I think I've got the first one and possibly the 3rd, but need to take another look.
Nothing exciting planned. We will go shopping for some stewing steak or similar to put in the slow cooker later. We have plenty of various root vegetables and I don't like to waste them. It takes a bit of prepping, but we make enough for at least 2 days, so it is time well spent.
Another scan during this last week. The questionaire beforehand wanted all sorts of medical history including any operations. The nurse filling in the form said it meant ever, so I started to tell her. When we got to the 3rd one, she said "Are there many more?" as she only had a small box approximately one and a half inches by half an inch. :-0 I've had 4 in total, but I'm sure some people will have had many more. This was at a building in the grounds of our main hospital, but not actually NHS, so may be they don't have access to full notes of people they see on behalf of NHS. The respiratory team at the hospital will chase up the results, so I'll have to wait to hear from them.

Woke in the dark for the loo and could'nt get back to sleep so just lay there for a while.
Vera I suppose being frozen it may not have looked like salmon at first glance but they doput some strange things on labels nowadays just to cover themselves.
Must make a coffee.

Good morning all. It is 10 degrees here this morning so a bit warmer than recently but is quite grey. no rain or wind though. slept fitfully but probably had enough sleep all together. Going to spend today checking saved programmes to make sure nothing I saved will be a problem once lost. Some things will have been recorded a long time ago because I wanted to keep them but unfortunately modern technology doesn't believe in forever. Vera the 'quiz' went well. It was not competitive. There were some photos that we just couldn't get what they were. Very clever. I will send out my before photos so that you can see is you can guess

99 cucumbers now Mandy. Wouldn't it be good if you could find another one and then you could boast about reaching a century. Yes, the electrical shop were very good and found us lights that were the right diameter to fit in the existing round holes. It still took OH most of the day to fit them as he had to work through the top of the wall units and there wasn't much room between the top of the cupboards and the ceiling. He also had to rewire them as they had been so badly done in the first place that he said we were lucky we hadn't had a fire.
It's good that a friend can help you with the Tivo box AnnG. I am hoping that when daughter brings us back on Tuesday she will have time to help us put our TV right as we are having trouble getting it started. Once it's woken up and got into the channel we want it's fine. As it was her TV originally and she knows more about this sort of technology than we do I am hoping she can sort it for us. How was your photo quiz?
Annx, granddaughter won't have any problem liking the food as son has brought his 3 girls up eating a very cosmopolitan diet from babyhood. They all cook and quite often make Thai food at home. Her problem might be that she is vegetarian. I don't know whether the Chinese have much vegetarian cuisine or not. Something else for me to google now. I am sure she'll pick up a smattering of Chinese but I believe it is a difficult language as so much relies on the intonation in your voice. When I spoke to son recently he said that she was feeling cross. Apparently she had 3 days off and planned to fly to Korea but she hadn't yet received her salary so couldn't afford it. I did ask why she wanted to go to Korea and he said she plans to travel all round the area, going somewhere every time she gets a break. As you can tell she is a confident young lady.
I checked on my blood test results on the NHS app this afternoon and everything appears normal and needing no further action apart from one of the cholesterol readings. Overall my cholesterol is fine but the reading for the so-called "good" cholesterol was very high. Next to it were some abbreviations that I couldn't get my head round and then it said "Appointment to discuss?" so whether I will hear from the surgery or not is anyone's guess.. They did, however, ring this afternoon and say that the clinical pharmacist wants me to have another bp review, this time with a specialist nurse. It doesn't seem to be particularly urgent so I've asked if I can see her at our local surgery rather than keep going into town but she is only there from time to time.. They offered me 17th Oct. which is the day my cataract is being done so I'm now going to see her on 24th Oct.
We had a lovely piece of salmon tonight that I bought ready frozen a few weeks ago at a farm shop. The label made me laugh. It said "Two pieces Salmon Fillet. Allergy advice: contains fish". I know the producers have to cover themselves but I would be very miffed if my salmon didn't contain fish.
I'm feeling quite tired now so I think it's time to shut the computer down and have a quiet read of my book. Have a good night everyone.

Evening all,
We haven't seen as much sun today and that's made it feel a lot cooler ,I did get all the bedding dry as there was a little wind blowing . I have cleared all the cucumber pots to one side of the greenhouse and moved some of my tomatos plants in , blow me when I moved a cucumber pot there was another cucumber on a little bit of stalk behind the pot so 99 cucumbers.
Oh I hope the car is OK for you when you go on Sunday Mel you'll be glad to get mobile again .
Ann hope you can find some curtains you like in Dunelm it would save making them, I need some new curtains for the front bedroom but we keep forgetting to measure them ,in the spring we're going to get new blinds for the two bathrooms and the kitchen .
That's good you've got the new light fitting Vera sounds as if this place was more helpful than the first place they must have somebody there with more experience . As Ann said I expect your granddaughter will pick up a bit of Chinese while she's out there ,I hope she's enjoying her new job .
We haven't had the heating on yet, we usually light the woodburner but we haven't had that going yet as we're waiting for son to sweep the chimney first.
Tomorrow I need to give my oven a clean its not to bad as I've been using the airfryer and the slowcooker more than the oven .

Afternoon All,
It's sunny here now but only 15 degrees so quite chilly. We've had the heating on from 6.00pm the last few nights, but it's only for half an hour to warm the place up. We are in bed by 8.00pm most nights so that is enough at the moment. It's handy having the conservatory as opening the door to it in the mornings lets the warm air in. I'm looking forward to the replacement curtain rail being fitted in the bedroom and the new rail being fitted in here next week. They should help with keeping heat in now and then heat out in the summer. I might make the curtains for in here as it is a small window about 4 foot square but on the other hand I'll see what is on offer first at places like Dunelm.
Mel I bet you were thrilled at the thought of getting another car soon. I hope you like it and it's nice to drive when you see it on Sunday.
Vera that is interesting about the show being in Chinese but the singing of the songs in English. I had asked OH whether many would speak english in China and he thought a lot would know some english. I suppose your granddaughter will pick up some chinese while she is there too. I wonder how she is liking the food? It's certainly a great opportunity and experience for her. It is getting cold at night as you say and I think I need to get the throw out for the bed. I wouldn't have been saying that a few weeks ago! It's good your OH got some lights and a small fan heater. They are handy and we have a small, very cheap one to use at times and for if the central heating pump packs up!! It's always good to have an alternative as a back up plan. I don't know what we'll do if we eventually have to be all electric with a heat pump.......have generators in the back garden if we have one?
It sounds promising that your friend will be able to get your box working AnnG. I've always recorded things when we went away and it is handy to be able to do that, so fingers crossed she can do it for you. I wonder what the subject is for the photography group this time?

3-10th Vera. And like you hoping for dry weather although, also like you there are NT and other places to visit. Obviously it is a familiar area to me as it is where T was born, grew up and went to school. Lots of memories around in the area though, we spent many long weekends with Shearings in a hotel in torquay. Just nice to get away somewhere. Hope you have a lovely break.
I have just heard that my friend will help with the Tivo box as she has already had to do her own.
Photography this afternoon.

It's grey and dreary today. The weather app is telling me it's 14 degrees but feels cooler and it's not forecast to get above 15 degrees anyway.
I've done 2 loads of washing today but it's not worth hanging anything out so most of it has been in the drier with a few bits and pieces hung on an airer in the conservatory.
When do you go away AnnG? We are off with daughter on Sunday but that's just for a couple of days. We'll have to decide what we are going to do as our time is limited and there is plenty in the area. I suppose it will depend on the weather. If it's bad there are a couple of NT places in the area where we could at least go round the houses in the dry. If it's dry and not too cold there is a lovely stretch of coast and there is also a big Shire horse centre not too far away.
Just had a break to take a call from the hospital. I am now booked in to have the cataract on my bad eye sorted on 17th October, so not too long to wait.

Good morning all. bright and sunny again and 3 degrees. I have now actually got the heating on low. Although it is only ever on from 0730 to 10.00 and 1630 to 10.00pm.
That was good that they could find sompatible bits for your lights Vera, saving you the trouble of buying new ones and fitting them.
Mel, great that Stu has sorted the car for you and you will be looking forward to sunday to going to see it.
I am waiting to hear if a friend is going to be able to come and give me a hand with changing the Tivo box over. If she can't do it I may be stuck for a while with just the terrestrial TV programmes. Not really a problem but not being able to record programmes is. With going away soon I like to record my programmes for when I come back. still hopefully she will let me know soon.

I really am late on parade today. It's been quite a bright, sunny day but it's definitely feeling like autumn now and getting very cold overnight. I don't think we've had quite such cold starts to the day as you AnnG but I had to put something else over the bed last night as I couldn't get warm. I hope your lunch in Cheltenham was enjoyable.
That's good news about the car Mel. I expect Stu will check it over for you and make sure it's in good condition for its age. We don't drive a youngster either; our old car is 17 years old though we have had it from new. That label printer not working must have been frustrating. I really felt for you stubbing your toe. I reckon we've all done it at some time or another and it's bloomin' painful. I hope it's not aching much now.
Mandy, that's a lot of cues. You really must have green fingers to do so well. It's a good job you can share them with son and family or you would be eating cucumber for every meal. I remember that a little while ago everyone seemed to be eating avocado on toast. Perhaps you could start a fashion for cucumber on toast ;-)
I saw something on Google about that car ploughing into Specsavers Annx. That must have been frightening for anyone in the shop at the time. It's a blessing that there were no serious injuries. It's good that you can get the blackout blind you chose after all. You mentioned about the show granddaughter is in and whether it would be in Chinese or English. Well you are right on both counts. I watched a YouTube video of the whole 30 minute piece that was filmed in July before F joined the cast. There is a bit of a song and dance number at the beginning and end and that and all the linking bits between acts was in Chinese but all the songs are in English as they were sung in the original Disney films. I won't go into the running story that links the acts but those links are all done by Mickey Mouse and Pluto and it is very odd hearing them chatting away in Chinese.
OH went back to the electrical shop early this morning and was home by 9.30 am with suitable new lights for my display units in the kitchen and a small fan heater. We had 2 and one died on us so he has replaced it. They are useful in spring and autumn when the underfloor heating is off but we need a bit of warmth in the room, usually in the evening. Later we went for our usual Thursday coffee and the 3 men sat and talked man things while we 5 ladies put the world to rights. It was very pleasant
A quick wave to Gwyn and anyone else who looks in from time to time ~~~~~~~~~ and I'm off to make myself some overnight oats for my breakfast and then have a read of my book. Sleep well everyone.
