Evening all,

Been raining here most of the day ,the sun tried to shine about four o'clock but it wasnt long before it started to pour again .

The Estate agent came and lo and behold he was only the nephew of my mum and dads next door neighbour so we spent a lot of time talking about people in the town that we both knew .
I had my blood test this morning ,as soon as the needle was in my arm the blood oozed out from the needle , she filled two files and when she finished i held the cotton wool ball on it and she taped it on , i did a bit of shopping after and while walking round the shop i thought my arm feels wet , i pulled my sleeve up and the cotton wool ball was soaked with blood as was the sleeve of my top ,i've never bleed like that before ,now i have a huge bruise from the needle .

That's dreadful Frank , they should be found and made to clear and pay for all the damage and mess , they must know who booked the hall and the hall must have some sort of insurance although why should they have to claim as it will only put their insurance up next time which means they would have to pass the cost on and then the hall would be to costly to hire .

Oh dear Liz poor OH with Gall Bladder pain again ,does he take any tablets for the gall bladder pain ? i use to have Buscopan.

Oh crikey Jane i bet there was a mess with the red wine ,did he drop it on the belt or the floor ?
Hope you enjoyed the Cinema today ,you went just the right time as the children break up for Easter today .

Oh dear Frank, that is just dreadful. As you say, god knows what goes on in the heads of these young people. Ian's answer is a quick trip round the back of the bike sheds to teach them lesson! but I'm not sure these days that this would work! and you'd end up with an assault charge!! These kids are complete morons and whoever arranged this party should certainly pay for the damage. Maybe the Hall is insured? lets hope so.
OH has been getting a niggling pain under his ribs again. We thought we'd put that problem behind us, but after a chat with our GP, apparently you can get recurrences of gall bladder problems one way or another,, so back to him next Wednesday :-(

Liz, I haven't seen this programme yet. I'm sure it's something I would enjoy. I will try to watch it on CATCH UP when Ros is next out.

Carolyn has been round to see how Ros makes these Muffs. She is going to start to help make some, also some squares that can be sewn together to make these shawls
She has bought Ros a lovely Bunny rabbit wth a little pot plant in his paws. Ros said "if it behaves and promises not to hop away", she will put him on the doorstep Easter Sunday to get a bit of fresh air. Silly bu@@er or what ???

We have a nice sunny end to the day, which is very nice.

Our village hall was let out last Saturday. It appears that it was for a TEENAGE PARTY. The outcome is, it has been THRASHED. Broken windows, they have broken into cupboards that belong to pre-school and stolen all the sweets/biscuits etc. Radiator covers have been smashed, and broken beer bottles thrown over the car park. The damage runs into hundreds of pounds.

Alan, who is an ex policeman, who's wife had the unenviable job of clearing up the mess, is on the case, and I believe his has names of some of the people present. I have said to him that the person who rented the hall should be held responsible for the damage. The hall should never be let to youngsters unless a responsible adult is present all the time. If push comes to a shove the Village Hall Committee should take the hirer to court to recover the loss's. What will be the outcome I don't know. The hall gets used by a lot of village organisations, including pre-school, indoor bowls, drama class, aerobics, mothers club, and others. It really makes you wonder what is in the heads of some of the youth of today. The question also needs to be asked WHERE DID THEY GET THE BOOZE.

At the moment, I am a very angry person.

Yes Frank, we're the same with M, we don't like to put on him too much as like your son he works hard and has his own home to look after.
Good idea to get somebody in to help with the day to day gardening jobs! I think we all eventually have to admit that we need a helping hand!!
As you say, wool is quite expensive!!!! Maybe a small contribution might be in order, but how do you tactfully 'ask'!!!!
'Shed & Buried' is on !! It's local to where we used to live so we recognise a lot of places they visit! the things these two get up makes us both laugh!

Frank

Frank Report 28 Mar 2018 13:26

I'm also very lucky, that any jobs (and there are a lot now) that I can't do. I can call on Harvey. He can do anything in the building line as well as being a landscape gardener. The trouble is getting him up here to do them. I am waiting on two jobs at the moment. I can't push him too hard, as he works very hard, and he has his own jobs to do a home.

We have decided to use a chap who does gardening, to come for a couple of hours once every two weeks. He can cut the grass and do some jobs for Ros around the garden. Even though I like to do my lawns with my strips and clean cut edges, there comes a time when you must give into age and health. Since doing my back lawn on Monday, my hips have been playing up, as is my arthritis in my hands and shoulders.

Ros has been trying to speak with someone at the hospital regarding her operation. I think it would be easier to speak with the POPE than some HUMAN at the hospital. It always goes to an answer machine, and no one ever rings back. So it all starts again a few days later.

Carol has arranged for Ros and her to go to the local Care Home at Gayton, on Wednesday Morning to take these muff things. When asked how many they needed, they said 35. Ros has made 17 so far. So plenty more to do. They would also like some shawls that the old people can put over their legs when sitting around. I said to Ros that should, and could be a job for "Stitchery Do" Where on earth do these people expect all the wool to come from. "THE WOOL TREE" lol lol. It's all very well offering to do these things for these homes, but they expect everything to be FREE. I for one don't mind chipping in for a good cause, but this lot sounds expensive.

I had a nice smoked salmon sandwich and an eclair for lunch. Roa had a prawn sandwich, and is now doing herself a HOT X BUN. I passed, as I am full, and won't want to eat tonight, if I have anything else.

It's finally stopped raining, but everywhere looks soaked.

Might see you later.

Peaceful day here after yesterdays excitement!! The birthday lunch went very well and it was good to see L's old school friend as we hadn't seen her since she went to Canada in 1997!!
Been raining hard here this morning, but is clearing up now so OH wants to rotovate the small veg patch this afternoon and then look at the veg cage to repair it and to decide where we're going to situate it. Like you Mandy, there really isn't any job OH can't tackle inside or out. He does all our maintenance, including fencing, making gates, hedging etc, although the farm opposite does cut the hedge once a year on both sides for us without charging, which is a bonus!! So I too have no idea what people charge these days. Mind you we shall ask M to come over and help move the cage as it will be too much for us to do on our own. We're lucky he's so obliging!!
Off to walk Cas now, then lunch!

Good Morning FAIR MAIDENS.

Another horrible day here. It was raining when I got up at 5.00 am YES FIVE am. We had words last night. I went into the conservatory with my beers and to watch the football. By 8.45 I was bored so went to bed. I was asleep about 9.00 pm. At least I wasn't bored with the soaps. !!!

I get told I wrap myself round the quilt and sheet in bed. Well at 5.00 am this morning I felt the bedclothes being pulled off me. I said in not a very nice tone. "If you want the B@@@dy cloths, then have them !!! and got up.

I had three large breakfast cups of tea, and finished my book. Her ladyship came out about 8.30 while I was sitting back in my armchair, with my eyes shut. She got her own tea this morning (what a change that is)

Roa spoke with Martine last night. When Brian went to see George Monday morning. He had 54 birthday cards on display on HIS CARPET in the lounge. Brian picked them all up, and found space around the room, to put them. When he asked George what he wanted for lunch, he said, I am to excited to eat. Them Brian noticed EMPTY box's of CHOCOLATES on the table. That's why you aren't hungry. !!!

I don't know that place ASK Jane, where is it. ?? Hope you enjoyed your film. Why didn't Fitz go with you like he normally does ??

Mandy I never know what Ros is bringing into the house. If it's for the garden, i's straight out of the car and round the back. If it's cloths, they go straight into the bedroom. All other either comes in the kitchen or left in the car/boot. The way I think of it, if she needs it, she buys it lol lol It's only MONEY after all is said and done. ;-) ;-)

I have spoken to both my Sister and SIL this morning. My sister had to throw her birthday flowers out yesterday. I don't know if the was a hint for more to be sent. lol.
My Nephew Stephen, Bill's son, was sent home from hospital on Friday. He's not good, and is on Oxygen most of the time. I don't know if he will ever be right.

Going to get an early lunch and coffee, as I haven't eaten yet today.

Morning all,

We have sunshine and fine rain too. Blue sky with whitish grey clouds out the front and grey clouds out the back with the sun shining through when it gets a gap.

Mandy you asked about the beef being on off in Morrisons. The piece I bought was in that shrink wrap thick polythene. I have had it before and its usually nice. I did ask the butcher what cut it was as I don't buy silverside. It is top rump and nicely marbled. It cut up to two pieces, one being 2. 1/2 lbs and the other 2. 1/4 lbs. They are b oth in the freezer now.

Woke late today so I must get on with something.

Watching Secrets of the National Trust now. Cragside .We went there a few years ago and it is wonderful.

Chris had a bit of a disaster this morning (and I am fed up hearing about it now) :-S
He went to Waitrose and when he was unloading his trolley onto the conveyor belt he dropped a bottle of red wine!!!!!!!. THE MESS !!!!! He was mortified and so embarrassed . But as i said he won't have been the first or the last . His worst swear word was Sh** and he was thankful the 'F' word didnt come out .I think he bit his tongue LOL
I am in my nightie and dressingown now and ready to watch a new Drama Come Home. Then off to bed .So Night Night all.

The Estate Agent said the measuring should take about an hour to an hour and a half that's for the inside and the outside he can do when ever .
He's a nice chap he lives close by to the bungalow and has been keeping his cars in the drive so it looks like some ones about .

Is the Beef on offer in Morrisons Mel ? i usually buy a large piece and cut it in half .

It's just the blood test tomorrow and i have to take a water sample with me ,then i have another appointment in about two weeks for the result and she usually takes my blood pressure then .

Sun came out later here and it was'nt too bad out. I was going to go up the High St for some cotton but I could'nt get a parking space so did'nt go in the end just did Morrisons. I bought a huge piece of beef for £11 39 which will do us too good dinners plus a bit for a sandwich. I shall cut it in half and bung it in the freezer.

Just had my blood test Mandy so thats out of the way for another year. Do they take your blood pressure too? I hope you don't have to wait about too long for the estate agent. They have these digital things for measuring now so it should'nt take that long to do the whole place.

Afternoon All

I wonder what else Ros might have bought that you don't know about Frank LOL Us ladies are very good at that kind of thing :-D I laughed my socks off at you email this morning (the dentist one)

Filthy morning here .It was pouring with rain at 4am when Thomas wanted out. Needless to say he didnt go :-S But by 5.40 when he woke me again it was just light rain and off he went. I made myself a cuppa and took it back to the spare bed where I could watch Hospital (that I missed last night ) on my laptop.
We were so lucky yesterday to be able to spend so much time over lunch sitting out.We weren't that bad with the wine but 3 empty bottles did end up in the recycling bin :-D

What Cider does OH have Mel? I can't drink Cider. I had too much Scrumpy back in my youth :-S Any Apple based drinks now I just can't do.

Busy day for you tomorrow Mandy with the blood test and then meeting the estate agent. Hopefully you won't have to hang around too long while he does all the measuring up etc.

Sounds like a big lump of money you are going to have to fork out for your Gate and fencing Gill. At least the neighbour will go halves on the fence.None of these 'jobs' are cheap are they. But if you know it will be done well then it will money well spent.

Chris and Me are off to the cinema tomorrow in Northampton to see Finding your Feet. We will have lunch beforehand at 'ASK' (you know that one Frank)

How is John doing Anne? Hopefully all good .He has made a miraculous recovery. Hopefully he will be well enough to get that holiday in once the defib is fitted .

Kitchen duty calling.I need to get dinner in.

Afternoon all,

I daren't do spicy food for Ros, She has this thing that if she eas spicy foods it sends her mouth all funny. I think it's called Licenplanis (SP) Someone ill know what I mean.

I have just had a break from my book, and had a cot and a chochy biscuit (well 6) !!! Lovely thay were too. Naughty but nice. ;-) ;-) ;-)

It's still raining here. It's been like it all day. You never seem to get two days the same. :-P :-P :-P I've done the veg for tonight. Swede, cabbage, carrots and boiled Parsnips, which Ros likes, plus spuds for mashing.

No sign of her MAJESTY I expect they are round the supermarket and garden centre. MORE EXPENSE I expect. lol lol

I got a case of beer out of the boot of the car yesterday. (she always keeps a spare case there) and I found a new TOASTER. When I enquired what it was doing there, she replied, it was for the kitchen when she decorates it. NEWS to me. She's already bought a new kettle, so she knows what she wants and appears to know the colour scheme she will have also. Why am I the last to know. !!!!

Back to my book now. Lovely not having the TELE on. PEACE AND QUIET. !!!!

Afternoon all,

Dreary here today it's been raining most of the morning ,yesterday was a lovely sunny day we were busy in the garden cutting back and tidying up ,we took the rubbish from the garden to the tip in the afternoon ,
I also got all the window sills washed and the front door they were so dirty ,i think a lot of muck has come from the building site where they are building the new flats ,the lorries keep up and down the road and they had also dug part of the road up to put pipes in and that left a lot of dry mud on the road .
We sat out and had our cuppa in the afternoon and the sun was so warm ,when you think it was only just over week ago that we had snow !!!!

Oh Frank that poor sore finger of yours ,makes me cringe when i think of you cutting it with the razor :-0
I bet the birthday boy was worn out the next day, just talking can be tiring especially at the great old age of 100 .

So still busy Gill :-D will the chap make the new gate Gill or have you got to buy a gate for him to fit ?
I have no idea how much some thing like that would cost as Colin usually does all our odd jobs ,we're lucky really that he can turn his hand to most things .

We're having a bit of a lazy day today although i have turned out one wardrobe this morning ,cleaned and polished and put the things back in ,i sorted out some things for the clothing bank so we'll take them next time we go out .

Tomorrow morning i have to go for the yearly blood test and then in the afternoon i have to meet the Estate Agent at my friends bungalow so he can measure up ready for it can go on the market .
Thursday we have Katie coming to stay for the night so Max will be excited he goes silly when the children come .

Chicken breasts for us for tonight just got to decide how to cook them ,think it might be Cajun chicken, nice and spicy .

Good luck with your measuring Gill. Make sure you get all the handles level. I would do those once the doors are on.

Watched The Durrels last night and it made me laugh when the ubdertaker asked her to bring him back some Marmite when she went to England. It reminded me of my best Friend who moved to France. She loved Cadbury's drinking chocolate but could'nt get it over there so I sent her some by post. Sadly she died a few years ago now but we were best buddies from school and will always be remembered with happy memories of the times we spent together and down the stables and she came on holiday to Devon with us once when we were in our teens. Whilst there I was carving a stick with a horses hoof on the end and Lynda walked round me and tripped over the end of the stick. The penknife slipped and cut my finger on the base of my index finger on my left hand rather badly. Just at that moment my mum and dad came over the fence into the field we had been in and I had had my hand over the cut and when I showed my dad and took my hand away the cut opened up like an eye!! Dad shot me back to the manor house we were staying at and cleaned it and bandaged it for me and put my fingers in like a slpint with cardboard to keep it closed. I still have the scar to this day.

Gillx Report 27 Mar 2018 12:47

Afternoon all

It's been pouring down with rain here this morning, but thankfully has stopped now.

No gardening here Frank, it's far to wet. I think it's a good idea to keep the plaster on your finger if you keep catching it. It'll also protect it against any infection.

A bit of your ironing done then Mel, at least it's out of sight in the uti. I laughed when you said it would be to exhausting to hop around the shops. Hope you find OH's cider for him. Good job you had some hidden away ;-)

It sounds like you had a lovely lunch with Fitz Jane, I bet you slept well with all the wine you had.

So you're off to lunch today I see Liz, hope the weather isn't to wet. Have a nice time :-) Pleased to see your veg patch is sorted now ready for all the planting. All you need now is the good weather.

We got the quote for the new gate last night, almost £400, but he does do a good job, the quote for the side fence is £220 which next door said she'd go halves with so that's not to bad. We haven't had a quote for the front fence yet, the fella said he'd measure up when he comes to do the gate. I had a word with the old lady's daughter this morning about her side gate and she has decided to have it done at the same time we have ours. The fella is busy at the moment with another job and then he's away in France for a few days so the job won't be done until after 8th April. It'll give us some time to save up a bit more as it was slightly over what we thought it would cost.

We have made a start on emptying the kitchen cupboards so we can changed the doors and draws, but with the kitchen being quite small there's not a lot of room to move in there so we think the job is going to be a bit awkward and might take a little longer to do than we first thought. I need to sort out the measurements for the hinges and door handles. I hope I get it right and don't mess it up. :-S

Have a nice day shopping Mel, and a nice Lunch for you and Ian Liz,

Have just taken two books round to Tony, He's laid out on the Sofa and Val is in the chair with a blanket over her. Anybody would think it's mid winter.

I had an old mower in the garage that started smoking last year when I went to use it. I told it."You are not old enough to smoke" lol lol. Anyway as the Black bin was almost empty, I managed to ge the mower in the bin hoping they would take it away. Which I am pleased to say they did. That £5.00 at Christmas does get you a few favours ;-) ;-) ;-)

Simon has been on the phone this morning. He has been under the weather recently. He had a lump come up in his groin, so went to the Drs. He didn't think is was anything to get alarmed about, and gave him a course of Anti-Biotics, which seems to have cleared it up. I told him to check himself regularly, and if it comes back, to get back to the Doctors. He is hoping to get on his Narrow Boat over the Easter break, which will be nice for them. They do work hard with long hours, but it's nice to see they benefit from it all.

Madam has gone shopping, so I will settle down with my book again.

Cold Pork, mash and Veg for tonight. I will do that later.
