Off out in a minute to have lunch with P, L and friend. Can't believe P is 18! It only seems like yesterday that we were chasing up the motorway from Exmoor to greet the new baby!! She's grown into such a lovely kind, clever, compassionate girl, doing well at college, and really focused on her future! As you can see we are very proud of her. No mowing done here yet, but the lawn is only small, the rest OH will do with the ride on as and when. Must go!!

Morning Frank and all,
Right miserable here this morning, cloudy and a bit windy and wet looking out there. h shan't be doing any mowing today thats for sure.
Shopping day for me so I won't be around much till this evening. Ha the S did'nt come out when I typed Shopping so it read hopping. Thats too exhausting for me to do its bad enough walking around the shop.
I wonder if oh's cider is in yet as they hav'nt had it in Morrisons for the last three weeks. Luckily I had some hidden away which lasted till last week when I had to go to Mole Valley and they had some so I bought the last 4 bottles for him in there.

Good morning to you all,
Rain here this morning, so I am pleased I got the back lawn done.
My finger is still blasted up, I took them off yesterday but kept catching it. (always the way) So I had to put fresh plasters on. As soon as I get in the shower the Blooming things will come off. If someone could invent plasters that can withstand water. THEY WOULD MAKE A FORTUNE. ;-) ;-) ;-)
The heat pad Ros put on me yesterday morning, was still hot when I went to bed at 10.30. I took it off then, as it would have been cold in the night an disturbed me.
Well you were lucky having a "GARDEN PARTY" in March Jane. I knew someone would be blamed for the excess Wine consumed. !!! Poor old Fitz. ;-) ;-) ;-)
I bet old GEORGE is still on cloud NINE. We will have to ring Martine tonight to see if he is alright after all his excitement :-D :-D
Carolyn has an 11.00 am appointment at the Doctors this morning, so they will be late going shopping.
Glad your OH was able to make the bit he lost for the mower. What's the betting, he will find it now he has made another part. :-P :-P :-P.
After my shower I will be sat with my book, while Madam is out shopping. I have made a list of things I need in the kitchen and Vegetables.
I don't expect any of you will be gardening today, if you have weather like me. !!!

I did do a little bit of ironing but then it was time to get lunch so there is still a good sized pile in the uti room. It will still be there when I want to do some more but its shopping day tomorrow so it won't be then.
I have had a bit of a tidy up with my craft bits and pieces this afternoon as I keep getting things out and not putting them away. Then I can't find what I need for the next project.
Lunch sounded good Jane and the wine flowed too I see. Did you have a little snooze after?
My hands have gone all rough again which is usually a sign that the weather is going to get cold again. I hope not but they do say colder at the weekend so we'll see.
Oh lost a bit off the mower deck whiklst putting it back together after lunch and do you think we could find it. We both looked and he put his extending magnet around and under the bench but no luck so he made one from an alan key.
I see you have manicured lawns now Frank. Once you've cut it it grows more so it will be a weekly job now for the rest of the year. Oh tested the mower deck he put back together and it mows lovely now and its all freshly painted for the season.
Have to find something for dinner so its a dive down the freezer to see what I can find thats quick. I hav'nt got used to this forward hour yet!!!!!

Hic! Hic! Lunch was a hit :-D.. The sun was so warm (for most of the time) but when it went in the jackets went on.I did quite a spread . Pizza,Quiche, some fancy Japanese Chicken bites,Posh Sausage Rolls, Salad,Parma Ham and Bread Sticks and of course wine :-D. We have got through far more than we should have. I blame Fitz :-D ;-) I don't think Chris and I will need to eat much (if anything) tonight. Just as Fitzy was leaving the phone rang and it was my old school Headmaster from Primary School :-D Just for a chat and catchup . He is 87 next month .Still growing a lot of his own veg and fruit and enjoying going ot car boot sales selling and buying. He said his wife says he has to stop buying and just concentrate on the selling :-D
What a lovely party George had Frank. To have the cake as a replica of the Regiment Badge and the the men from the regiment too wearing their medals must have just been the most amazing thing for him,and him wearing his medals too :-D :-D.What a day for him :-D :-D :-D I bet he is still on a high LOL. But probably totally exhausted after such a special occassion. 100 years old. I don't think I will reach anywhere near that great age. I do remember years ago being told by a Clairvoyant I would live till 92 ....watch this space :-D :-D
I have done nothing today other than go and get flowers for Fitz's OH's birthday and do lunch. Tomorrow morning I have an appointment to have my eyebrows tidied and a bit of electrolysis on my chinny chin chin . I am not gowing a beard but just have a few bits of unwanted whiskers that seem determined to show themselves . I don't want to use your Razor Frank :-D :-D :-D.. Hope your finger is ok now.

Well I have done it. THE BACK LAWN. What a job. Nor being able to do the last cut because of the wet weather, it was VERY long. I put the setting high and went over it. It didn't look right so lowered the blade and went again. STILL not happy with it, so went down another notch and off I went again. I must add I had a break in between each mow. Finally I have just come in doors. The Green Bin is nigh on full with grass. Ros is tidying up the front garden. Taking out the blind Daffs, and replacing them with ones that are in flower, they are the little ones the name of which evades me at the moment.
The patch that Ros put on my back is still as hot as an oven. It has big ties that go round your waist to hold it in position. I didn't bother, I just tucked the ends in my underpants.I do feel that it has done some good.
George didn't open any presents yesterday, I expect Brian will do that for him today, when he visits, which he does every day. Plus he has the carers going in to get him up and dressed in the morning and I believe they call during the day, and in the evening. Martine cooks all his meals for the week on Saturday afternoons, so he only needs to pick that he fancies, and pop it in the Microwave. Brian made me chuckle yesterday. He said it took him ages to teach George to use the microwave. Now he is teaching him how to use the DVD player and how to change his films. At 100 years old it must be difficult to make in.
When resting on the chair at the bottom of the garden, I see that DENNIS has blocked off the gab in the fence to stop the little dog they have, from being into our garden. Roa would love her to come through and come and see her. She loves the little thing to bits. <3 <3 <3
I bet it was quite warm sitting out for lunch Jane. I had to take my light fleece off while mowing, which reminds me it's somewhere in the garden. I mustn't forget to bring the in. I hope you all had a nice lunch and NOT too much wine. !!! ;-) ;-) ;-)
Liz, we would normally get a turkey if the family were coming for Easter. As there is only J & C. Ros and I a leg of lamb will be alright. I hope you enjoy having L with you and the children. More dog sitting. That might be a good side line for me, as I rarely go out, and would be company for me. Does L have to walk them as well ??? Like me, I see you enjoy reading. I will be going back to my book when I leave here.
Roast Pork tonight, as we didn't have a meal yesterday. in fact I haven't had anything for almost 24 hours, no wonder I am loosing a bit of weight. ;-) ;-) ;-) I did all the veg this morning, so they only need boiling or steaming. I will get the roasts and parsnips in part way though the pork roasting. I still have the Gravy to make. I mustn't forget that. No Yorkshire today, Ros isn't the bothered.
I really can't believe what a smashing day this has turned out to be. While rising between mowing I sat at the patio Table with a couple of tins of Coke to drink. NOW THAT has to be a FIRST for me. ;-) ;-) ;-) It would normally be a couple of beers. ;-) ;-) ;-)
I hope those of you that can, and have it, enjoy this beautiful sunshine. SPRING IS HERE I hope. But looking towards the Easter weekend I think we are in for some bad weather. Cheerful old Bu@@er aren't I ???

Busy old morning here. L rang to have a chat and to say that they will be coming to lunch on Easter Sunday so that's good. OH suggested that we did our weekend shopping today as the shops will be heaving by the end of the week, so we made a list and got up to Waitrose asap! Really glad we did as I got a turkey for Sunday (I know it should be lamb, but there will be 7 of us, 8 if P's boyfriend comes and even a big leg might not have been enough!!) all the veg, and Easter Eggs!! I'm particularly chuffed as I managed to find a soft Peter Rabbit+egg for little boy (he loves P.R!!) so he'll be over the moon, and two packets of malteser rabbits, one each for the girls! so everyone should be happy?!! :-S. L has just taken on another dog! this time it's a 14 month old working cocker. That's three she's now doggy sitting, money for old rope?!!! This afternoon I must get in the washing and get it put away to air, then that will be that for a while! Give Cas a quick run then relax with my book! Yes the main veg patch is finished now Gill and ready for planting out as and when!!

No Mel I haven't started my sewing yet, to be honest I forgot all about it. Thanks for reminding me.
I'm watching the TV trying to catch up with all my programmes. At the moment I'm watching Alan Titchmarsh "Secrets of the National Trust" I've recorded them from the beginning and only watched the one on the workhouse, so now I'm watching the rest of them. They're very interesting.
I'm also bobbing in to the back room every now and then to finish the bit of painting in there. Just put another coat on, hopefully that'll be the last one, if not I should only need to do one more coat. Sandra wanted to read one of the books she bought the other week. Once I've finished watching Alan, I'll see if she wants to watch something off the planner with me, if not then I have other programmes I can watch instead.
Have you done your ironing? How are you getting on with your felting, is it playing nicely now? ;-)
Hope the weather stayed nice for Jane and Fitz's lunch outside.

Its come over a bit cloudy here now but its still bright if you know what I mean.
Gill did you finish your sewing, if not you could do that today.
It sounds like the party for George was a great success and to have people from his regiment there was great. The cake sounded really nice to have his badge on it. You did'nt say if he liked his present Frank.
Must get on as I hav'nt done any ironing yet.

Morning all
Lovely and sunny again today.
It sounds like you had a wonderful time Frank. How nice for George to see everyone. Was it a surprise party for him? You said he looked surprised when he came in with his nephew. The cake was a good idea with his regiment badge on it and to have a couple of his friends from the regiment there to, how lovely. How is your finger today, these things are easily done aren't they? Hope it's not to sore.
So it's ironing day today Mel? That's one job I'm not keen on. No, I haven't missed the hour I lost as I woke up an hour earlier than I usually do, so didn't lose it in the end lol.
We were going to make a start on the kitchen today but OH has had to go out so it'll have to wait for another day now. Not sure what I'm going to do with myself now :-S I have a tiny bit of painting to do over the filler I did yesterday in the back room, but that'll take all of 2 minutes to do. I have gone through the bills that have been posted to us and put them in my file, so that job's out of the way, but again a 2 minute job. So at the moment I'm scrabbling around trying to find things to occupy myself with. I would of done a bit of gardening as there are lots of leaves around and weeds but the bin doesn't get emptied until tomorrow and it's full to the brim so I'd have nowhere to put the rubbish, so I can't do that. It looks like it might be the TV for Sandra and I for now. I do have quite a lot on the planner which would of needed watching anyway, there is hardly any space on it for the new recordings. I can clean the kitchen handles at the same time while I watch it. I kept them as they are in good nick and handles are really expensive to buy, so why not use the old ones I say ;-)

Good morning my little sweet things, xxx
You have been busy chatting away.
I see your BIL is on the mend Mandy. Les hope he will be fit and back on his feet propper before too long.
I didn't see the RAF planes. I will go on catch up and find it later. I did watch Country File. I try not to miss it. The woman with the glass was incredible . The SPIDER she made was so lifelike, it would scare most people if the saw that on their carpet. !!!
Everything went to plan eventually. When Martine went to pick up the sandwiches from Morrison's, they said they knew nothing about the order. She asked for the Manager, and his immediate reaction was "THE COMPUTER HAS BEEN PLAYING UP, THAT'S WHY YOUR ORDER DIDN'T COME THROUGH" When Martine showed him the 50% receipt and a copy of the order, he didn't know what to say. Anyway, he had the sandwiches made on the spot, and offered to deliver them to the venue. When she went to pay the remaining amount owed, he said Have that on us, for the inconvenience. Which was a very nice gesture.
The place was heaving with people when we got there. We were able to find a table by the window in the sunshine, so we were quite happy not to be amongst the crowd. When "GEORGE" arrived on the arm of his Nephew , a resounding cheer went up, and the poor old chap was so surprised. They had an armchair by the fire for him, which he soon settled down in. The (BUFFET) was excellent, I didn't think there would be enough to go round, but after everybody and eaten there was a few bits and bobs left over. We all sang "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" as George cut his cake, which was a copy of the NORTHAMPTON REGIMENT BADGE. There were couple of chaps there from the regiment in their berets and medals. GEORGE had his on his chest and wore them with PRIDE. He had worked as a "CLICKER" for 52 years at CHURCHES SHOE COMPANY. They sent a letter and a cheque for £100.00 and a copy of his employment record. Which was all passed round for everyone to read.
We came away, when others started to leave, it was about 5.00 pm so we had a good three hours there siting in the afternoon sun, and enjoying a few pints. IT'S great not being able to drive. Hic Hic.(not really) lol
I thought the Burrell's was a little better last night. I do like the hospital series.
I don't know what I have done to my back. The lower back is giving me so much discomfort. Roa has put a Heat Pad on it this morning, so will see if ha does any good.
What a silly thing I did yesterday morning while shaving. In over 65 years I have never done anything so STUPID. I wiped my finger on the side of my face by the sideburn, instead of dipping my finger in the water to wash the soap of, I wiped my RAZOR over my finger. It took two nice slices out of my index finger. It would no stop bleeding. I kept whipping it in toilet tissue, finally I cut h finger out of a disposable glove and put that over the tissue hat was covering the finger. It's sill on. I will take it off soon and put a plaster on.
I spoke with my sister yesterday morning. The flowers I sent for her Birthday are still going strong, she is so pleased.
I seem to have been on here for ages, so will push off, and hope you are all well and have "A NICE DAY"

Oh mower the lawn outside the kitchen window and the big west lawn too this afternoon. Thats the first cut of the year for us.
I save Country File for Saturday nights but I am a bit behind with them at the mo. I shall watch them in the week on catch up.
I did some felting this afternoon but still can't show you because its the second one I have made like the one I have made for a present.
Oh has been watch ing the program about the planes and the RAF. I wonder if Frank has seen it. Hope he had a nice time at the party this afternoon and that the birthday boy enjoyed his presents.
Gill was'nt that awful that race this afternoon. I don't think its fair that Vettel was aloud to speed out of the garage to get back on track. They ahve done this before when a safety car has been out and oh commented on it then.
Mandy the card sounded lovely and definately one to keep.

Didn't watch Countryfile this week Mandy so didn't see the glass owl :-( it sounds nice though. We decided to have another go at watching Everest as we couldn't get into it last night. Managed to get in to it today though. It was a true story with a mix of a sad and happy ending. The first hour dragged on a bit but if you can get through that part it's well worth watching.
What a lovely card you got off Katie, loved what she's written inside. I've kept lots of things my children made when they were little. Good to hear Neil is out of hospital, how long does he have to have the tube in for? It's amazing the things that can be done nowadays isn't it? Hope you have a good nights sleep tonight and wake up fresh as a daisy lol. I've had plenty of late nights, so know how draining it can be the following day. As Jane says I don't do a lot of resting LOL.
Yes, hope Frank and Ros had a good time at the party.
Oh I see Liz, he looked like he was working hard, I bet the clay soil was difficult to get through though with all the bad weather we've had lately. Has he finished that bit now? I've never heard that saying before about the weather. Hope it's not to cold again next week.
We didn't realise Masterchef is on tonight so we're just about to watch the last one I recorded so we can watch tonight's later. Good job I record them all.

Neil her son was there he is out of hospital now but still has the tube going into the top of his arm and up to a vein in his neck and down to his heart and has to go to the doctors to have his Antibiotics dripped in ,i think he said it takes about half an hour .
I feel really tired today , i had a good book i wanted to finish reading in bed last night so it was late by the time i put the light off .
Did anyone now see the lovely little glass owl the lady made on Country File .?

We grew the runner beans there last year this year we've put some garlic in which is doing well, and I think the potatoes will be put there this year! OH has taken Cas up to the field for a final run. I'm watching Country File, then later on 'Return to the Chateaux', apart from that ?!!!

I feel sorry for Hamilton Mel with Vettel's pit stop. I think Vettel was just lucky with there being a virtual safety car and everyone having to drive slower. Let's hope Hamilton has better luck in two weeks time at the next race. Just noticed online that Toto Wolfe thinks it might of been a glitch in the software that caused Hamilton not to win. Let's hope it's sorted before the next race.
It's been sunny here today too Jane, it's so hot in the greenhouse. I opened the door for a while and gave all the plants a good watering. Yes, I noticed on the weather we're in for some more snow :-( I hope we don't have any here.
No I haven't been watching that programme Jane. Pleased to see your meds are keeping the pain down, you must be so relieved :-)
Love the pictures Liz. Cas is looking as cute as ever, bless her. Is that the new veg patch your OH is doing?
