Good morning from a beautiful blue sky of Northants. !!
How are we all this morning ?? This chatting in the morning, is something you either do or don't. When Ros and I were first Married and bought the shop and post office, It was UP in the morning, grab a cot and down in the shop to get the bread in and Veg delivery displayed, ready for 9.00 am opening. So no time to chat.
A lot of my dads relatives were in a East end workhouse, some DYING in there. I found all this from GENES. Which reminds me, I must do some more looking. lol
It's the Cremation of Brian's Mother at 1.30 today. then on to the QUEEN ELENOR for drinks and sandwiches. That should give us time to get home and have a sit around before getting ready to go out with John and Carolyn. So no cooking for me tonight.
Ros was at Mothers Club last night, so I was in charge of the Tele, not that there was much of interest to me. So I sat with my book.
It looks such a nice morning out there today, the sun is really bright and WARM. There is no WIND, which I hope will make it feel warmer out. That wind has been bitter cold. Brrr.
Slept reasonable well last night. At three this morning, there was no Ros beside me. I was thinking of getting uo to see where she was, when I felt the bed move. She had been to the loo. But it seemed she was gone for ages. ;-) ;-) ;-)
Just going to have a bit of Toast and MY MATE and another COT. So have a good day, and don't get into any trouble. !!! See you later no doubt.

I seem to have had rellies tin the workhouses too. One little cousin (she calls herself that) her dad was in the workhouse and when I first got in touch with her she told me her dad loved it in there as a child. His mother was my gt grandfathers sister, both born out of wedlock. Sadly he is dead now but at the ripe old age of 90 something.

It's strange how things work out isn't it Liz? Sad though that she ended up in the workhouse. I was born out of wedlock and took my mother's maiden name. She ended up marrying my dad in the end so my name was changed to his surname, but things could of easily been different. I've recorded the programme you mentioned so might watch it tomorrow.

Just been watching 'Secrets of the National Trust'. It was about Workhouses and absolutely fascinating! My three times Gt grandmother ended her days in the infirmary of a workhouse in Norfolk. Poor woman had had an illegitimate son when she was 20 who took her surname, which eventually became mine! Had she married the chap my maiden name would have been his not hers! I can't help but feel sorry for her! :-(

My S.father used to read the Daily Telegraph from cover to cover at breakfast every morning and then later on in the day (after retirement) do the big crossword (and most days, finish it!) Conversation at breakfast was not welcome!!! My mother and I didn't put up with too much of that, and often got rustled at(!!) and glared at for daring to talk!! OH fortunately isn't given to any of that and is fairly chatty in the morning's! Mind you its usually twaddle so I don't have to listen or answer if I don't want to!!! :-D I think the little girl was left in the car by her mother? I don't know about anyone else, but if it were me I'd be SO devastated I'd be incoherent, and putting it on face book would be unthinkable! Still each to their own!

I've just seen the news and the car wasn't stolen. Apparently the little girl was out with her parents and was left in the car for a short time while her dad went back into the place they had been visiting to get some money and when he went back outside the car had gone. At first they thought the car had been stolen, then the car was found in the water at the bottom of the slop they had been parked. They are calling it a tragic accident. I think the same as you Jane and he didn't have his handbrake on properly. It's so sad and now he'll have to live with his daughter's death for the rest of his life.
You did make me laugh Jane when you said Chris hadn't done the seal around the bath yet and then commenting on Liz's saying "stir your stumps" Maybe, you could tell Chris to Stir his stumps and do the sealant. LOL. I would happily do it for you, although you do need to fill the bath with water and get in first so the bath goes down with the weight, then carefully get out once the job is done and leave the water a little longer until a skin appears on the sealant before emptying the bath. There is an easier and less messy way of doing it. If you buy a hard plastic strip you don't need as much sealant, you can then press the plastic onto the sealant which gives a better look when it's finished. Just remember to cut the plastic at a 45 degree angle before you put it on. I tend to have some kitchen roll to hand incase needed to wipe my fingers as you do get a bit of sealant on you, but all in all it's not a hard job and shouldn't take to long. In fact it would probably take longer to run the bath than the job takes. Go on have a go, then you can tell everyone "I DID THAT" ;-) ;-) ;-)
So you've been felting again Mel, what are you making this time?
I don't seem to have much of an appetite today for some reason :-S I'd just sat down to eat a lasagne and garlic bread and only ate the bread. I might warm up the lasagne later if I feel like it.
OH has cut the lawns again today, but said not much came off. It looks good though. He'd already cut it the other week, so maybe it hasn't grown much since then.

Back again. Dinner is in. As i was saying before losing the whole lot..... (I can't remember everything now LOL) This dreadful news about the little girl who died in the car in the river. My God it is just unbearable to think about. The callous ,evil person /people who did this need putting away for life. I hope that they get them and they never see the light of day again.
Gill I would happily have you to decorate my house :-D :-D. I too like the others feel quite exhausted just thinking of all you manage to get done. We have things needing doing here .We talk about it and that is far as it gets :-S. I have been waiting for Chris to put new sealant around the bath .. He has bought it :-D I say no more. I would be totally useless doing that.I wouls seal everywhere else other than the edge of the bath LOL
I hope tonight you get as good a sleep as you did last night Frank. That was a great sleep :-D
Liz 'stir your stumps' is something I have never heard before. What a great saying. I asked Chris id he had heard it and he has.
Mel ,back on the road again now then. Was it just the Spring thing that had fallen off ? I suppose it could have been a lot worse than another £106,but you didn't want to be forking that out just after your bill bill the other week.
Chris has just looked up to see when I am due my State Pension. May the 6th 2020. So I now know what I am likely to get. I had no idea I could even look it up !! :-S
I have just seen the news. The little girl who died.. I wonder if the handbrake wasn't on properly and the car ran back down into the river ?? Whatever and however it happened is just tragic :-( :-(
I have 2 grumps in the mornings here. Chris and James. Neither talk ,they just grunt . I tend to stay out of the way as I know I irritate them when I am chatty . Is it a Man thing ?

Ros is home, while out she called at B & Q looking for more bird feeders. But thought they looked expensive, so I went on line and bought WO for less than a tenner. Plus more meal worms, and another bit of kit I thought would be good. It is a base with a feeder that you screw to an empty plastic bottle, which you can fill with seeds, meal worms or peanuts, if fact most things that birds eat. It hangs upside down.on a hook.
Ros also found some more of this paint for painting the kitchen cupboard doors, but didn't buy any, THANK GAWD. !!!!
That damp stuff you are looking for Gill, is it that polystyrene on a ROLL. Like wall paper?? If so look on line, I am sure you will find it there.
Have started another book, so Tony has two coming to him,as and when I see him, or when I pop round.
Sun's out, I can feel the warmth through the conservatory windows, so it's getting a bit warmer each day. I see we need to put our RUNNER BEAN SEEDS in next month. We grow them in pots to get a good growth, before planting them out. Not sure what we will do with the patch this year.

I've just Googled that story Frank, the little girl died the day before her 3rd birthday, it would of been her birthday today. I hope they catch who did it.
It's a pity we don't live near you LIz or Frank we could of helped you with all your jobs. Yes, the living room and main bedroom have been decorated, the loft has been sorted and the roof fixed and I've made a start sorting out the back garden. Just the kitchen to do and hopefully the side gate and fences in the front if Barry (the builder) can do them, then I can make a start on sorting out the front garden.
I've just tried to find the insulation I need for the spare bedroom but can't seem to find it at B&Q anymore (that is where I bought it from a few years ago) I have a bit left over so I'm going to put it on the wall up the side of the wardrobe to stop the mould, it won't be seen and will save me having to move the wardrobe all the time to clean the wall. I will need some help off OH to move the wardrobe so it'll have to wait for now as OH can't lift anything heavy for a few days after his procedure yesterday.
I might take a look at the kitchen doors tomorrow in the hope the hinges line up with the old carcases, if they do I can change them over without OH's help. It'll save him a job, otherwise he'll need to drill some new holes in the right places.
So your car is all fixed now Mel, that didn't take long did it?
Off to wash the lunch dishes now then have a cuppa.

Afternoon all,
Lovely day here ,beautiful sunshine .
Gill that's really good news for your OH you must all be so relieved . You make me feel so idle when you talk about all the jobs you have to do :-D you seem to go from one job to another ,we talk about jobs but it takes us a few weeks some times to get round to them :-D
So you had a really good night's sleep last night Frank that's good , we usually have a chat over breakfast , we sit down have a look at the weather vane on the church tower ,watch the planes go over if the sky is clear and talk about what we're doing for the day .
Mel what are you like fancy not remembering where you put the bottles ,after all it was only last year !!!LOL you probably washed them out and told OH where you had put them ,are you sure you didn't give them to him and he's forgotten where they are . Oh Mel more money paid out , as my dad use to say it's a good job i saved up when i was young LOL That poor little girl in the car , i hope the ycan find you did it and throw away the key .
I too thought The Durrell's was a load of rubbish Frank ,i did enjoy Good Karma Hospital .

Afternoon all,
I have had a late breakfast/early lunch. Tiger rolls filled with prawns and seafood sauce. Had a nice COC that Ros made me before going to get her nails done.
Like you Liz, I am quite happy not to have anything on , T,V. or radio. in the morning, but Ros doesn't like the house being quiet. So the Tele is on while she's around. Now everywhere is silent. BLISS. llol lol.
Yes Gill, I agree with Liz, I would love to have 10% of your energy. I could then get on and get jobs done. By the time I have showered and shaved and prepared dinner, I am ready for a rest, which I do most days. As you know I do enjoy my reading, and afternoon T.V. with NAT. GEO. some wonderful places they go, and so interesting.
I am not one for the soaps, and some of these series. I thought the DURRELL'S on Sunday was absolute trash, I will give in another week to improve, if not it will be off. Good Karma Hospital looks like being good again this series.
Sill very cold outside. I went to get the bins in this morning, and found some food had been spilt on the road from a Food Caddy, when the council men emptied them. Not sure if it was mine or not, but I cleaned it up anyway. That should be noticed by the men collecting the bins, and cleared up by them.
I see on the BBC news, that a young woman had her car stolen with her 3 year old daughter in it. It (the car) was found in a river. The poor child died. Wouldn't I love to get my hands on these YOBS that did the. I sickens me to the core.

Gill you make me feel tired just telling us of your plans!!! :-D. Pleased to hear you sounding more positive, I think you'll find OH is less forgetful now he he hasn't any health worries, there's nothing like stress for playing on the mind. We will have to 'stir our stumps' a bit this summer, as there are a few minor jobs that need doing round the bungalow. Both outside ends need re painting, and the kitchen floor needs re - varnishing, I expect we'll find other things as well!! We're having supper at lunch time again! OH prefers it and I'm not that bothered!!

Morning all
Bright and sunny again today and quite a bit warmer too.
Thanks everyone for your good wishes for OH, he has just rang his mum to tell her the good news, he didn't want her worrying as she has enough on her plate with her other son.
I've been sorting a bit of the garden out today while the weather is nice. I've put the Cana lily in the greenhouse topped it up with some compost and gave it a good water, so it should be happy in there away from anymore bad weather. I've also rang the builder who put in a new side gate for us a couple of years ago to see if he can sort out the rotten gate further down the side of the bungalow. He's coming around tomorrow afternoon to take a look. We did ring someone else to give us a quote but he never got back to us......his loss. We know the fella who came last time is good, even if he is a bit expensive. At least that'll be done soon, I'm also going to discuss the new fences with him too.
Your life sounds very relaxing Liz, ours is always go go go LOL ;-) We still haven't got round to putting in the new kitchen yet with being so busy lately. We were hoping the fella who didn't get back to us would of done it but that doesn't look the case now......never mind it'll save us some money doing it ourselves. I've been thinking of insulating the spare bedroom as we have condensation problems on the outer walls. I did it in the back room and it worked a treat, no more mould anywhere, so hopefully it'll solve the damp problem in the other room too. Once that is done I've got some wallpaper I can make a feature wall out of behind the bed, then that room will be sorted. I'm quite enjoying seeing some colour on the walls for a change as we've had magnolia or white for years. Our place is going to look lovely when it's all finished. It sounds like Cas is having a great time in the snow, she'll miss it when it's all gone. Our snow only lasted a few hours and it's been lovely and sunny ever since.
Hope you are feeling less queasy today Jane. So you think it was your meds? At least it's not a bug, so hopefully you'll feel much better now.
Pleased you had a good nights sleep Frank, you'll feel on top of the world today :-) Yes it is a weight of OH's mind knowing he's alright. Hopefully he'll start to sleep better. He didn't have a very good night last night, but with a bit of luck he'll sleep better tonight.
Hope you're not without your car for long Mel and it doesn't cost to much to fix. How is your crafting coming on? Did you find the plastic bottles in the end?
Off for a cuppa now, then I need to do a bit of housework and finish sorting out the spare room. I have a few boxes in there that need sorting out, they are a bit dusty and I want to put them in the spare wardrobe as they are for items we have in the bungalow.......CD player, DVD players and the like, so I don't want those in the loft getting dusty again.

Much warmer here today and t be snow nearly all gone- hooray! Frank, we usually wake roughly at the same time, have a cuppa in bed, (made by OH,) and listen o Radio 4 till about 8 ish, OH gets breakfast while I shower and dress. He sends Cas down to our bedroom most morning's to tell me breakfast is ready!! and yes we chat quite a bit at breakfast, (no radio or telly!) then get on with the day! Coffee at about 10.30, (more chat!) then shopping or whatever till lunch. Afternoon? snooze gardening, reading, whatever takes your fancy!! bed about.10.00! A steady old derby and joan life really!! Neither of us have the energy we once had and luckily we like the same things by and large, so our wound down life suits us both. Hard to believe that 10 years ago I was still working part time, and OH full time! We were certainly busier then!! Think I'll give the fridge freezer a birthday today, I haven't done it for ages!
