Thanks for the pics Mel we haven't had much snow at all! Hopefully we won't get too much if any. Begin to think I can't bear too much more of this weather and bearing in mind it's now officially spring, let's hope this is the end of it!! We're having smoked trout for supper, with fried potato and salad. OH made some delicious mushroom soup for lunch and there's a small bowlful left for each of us, so that'll be a warm starter! OH has just taken Cas for a run, he looks frozen poor old sod!!

Oh dear Mel and you've just paid out for your car to. Hope it's not to expensive to fix. Love the pics you sent through, you've had quite a bit of snow. We've just had a bit more but none of it is laying on the ground yet. I think OH has more dandruff than we have had snow LOL :-D :-D

The sun just came out. :-D
I forgot to say that when I went up the shop after Em,s this morning when I got to the crossraods I heard a heavy metal cluck. Thought I had run over something so got out to look and there lying in the road was a large piece of metal that looked like it had come off the car. I drove gingerly to the shop and when I got there I looked underneath and think it was a bit of the big spring on the suspension. The rest was still sitting on the bottom so came home and told oh. I shall have to ring Stewart and tell him so he can check it for me and do whatever needs doing. More Expense!!!!!!!!!!! :-S

Try Bonjela Mel that might sooth your sore gum. Looking forward to seeing your pics, it sounds like you've been working hard.
That's a lot of seeds Liz, your OH has certainly been busy and like you said you won't starve ;-) Good idea not to water them just yet until the weather warms up. I only do tomatoes and sometimes potatoes now, as we have to many plants and flowers to look after.
Pleased to hear your burn isn't to bad today Frank. How is the snow by you, we've still got sun but it's very cold in the wind. We've had the odd flakes of snow and a bit of hailstones mixed in with it earlier, but it's been okay now for a few hours. OH said we are due the heavy snow tonight and tomorrow......not looking forward to that.
So Hannah is still training for her walk Jane, let's hope the weather isn't to bad this weekend for her.
Nice clean oven now Mandy, you're right though it doesn't stay clean for long.
Just watching all the 60 minute makeovers I've recorded, Sandra and I like those programmes, it's to cold to go out anywhere so we're staying in the warmth today and probably tomorrow too.

Its stopped snowing here now and a lot of it has blown away or melted.
Popped into Em's with the eggs and it smelt lovely in her kitchen as she had been baking. I came away with half a lemon drizzle cake as her friend called in and said the same as I about the lovely smell. Em had'nt put the icing on the top as they had'nt been out of the oven long but her friend got half of one of the cakes and I had the other half so I am well pleased. Its not as nice as the recipe from Mandy though, a bit heavier I would say.
I have been eating seedy bread and made my gum sore under my denture.........
Yes Hannah needs to wear those new boots in before her big hike or she will have very sore feet. I wonder if she went on that walk up the Seven Sisters. I bet it was blooming cold if she did.
Just turned the heating back on and I think I must wash up before starting something else in the way of felting. Will send some pics of the snow and yesterdays project.

Afternoon all ,
That wind is really bitter out there today ,we've had a few snow flurries but it hasn't really laid on the ground ,you can see when they are coming as goes over so dark . We have the fire lit and will watch a little tele this afternoon i think and i have a chicken all ready to go in the oven later .
I'm glad your scald is not so bad today Frank ,that must have been quite a wind to blow the panel down and take the covering off the shed roof ,lets hope here's nothing else . You asked if Colin's sister had family to look after her ,she has a son and two daughters ,her husband drowned when they were on holiday abroad so she has been on her own for a few years now . I doubt if the family will be able to look after her ,i think the way she is she will need to go to a nursing home .
I was going to ask the other day Jane if Hannah was still walking ready for her climb ,she'll need to break those new boots in so there's no blisters .
I cleaned my oven this morning so that's all nice and shiny now but it doesn't keep like that for long once you do a roast .
Snowing again now .

I's your age Jane !!!!
I did myself a Egg and bacon sarnie at 11.30 wth a COC. I turned on the .TV. only to find the football was on BT 1 so I have been watching that in the comfort of my own armchair. Spurs are 2 up into he 2nd half.
No call from Ros so I expect she will have lunch with Martine, and carry on the sorting.
No cooking for me tomorrow. Carolyn and John have invited us round there for 2.30 pm I suppose after a drink or two we will eat around 3.30. Which will suit me fine. We are going to our nice Chinese on Wednesday a 6.30. John has had withdrawal symptoms wanting one while on holiday.
No more snow here, but that wind looks like it could cut you in half.

Afternoon Everyone
Cor Luv a Duck this wind is fierce!!! Frank I hope you don't have a 3rd thing blow down, but saying that everything happens in threes :-D. There was a little snow on the ground first thing but no more so far.I think it must be on the way though.I think they said it would be later in the day here. Are you forecast lots of snow Mel?,I wasn't sure if you were just a bit further up from where the Amber Warning is. I have been and got veg and a few other bits and bobs and I am not going out anywhere again. I shall light the fire in bit and carry on sorting through photos this afternoon. I seem to have come to a standstill with them and the boxes are still in the same place on the floor as they were last week ! No news from the break in next door.I did see a van there yesterday that replaces windows/glass.
Anne,it is brilliant how little defibrillators can be fitted in a human body to quickly restart the heart. That will be so reassuring for John and his family if he does have one . There is a Defib on the wall outside our little Co-op and Ithink there is one in the old Telephone Box down in the village.I think there should be far more around in busy public places really.
60 years since joining up Frank !!Just a young man then :-D No new glasses needed for me Frank. So no expense :-DI had such a lovely young Optician yesterday an Asian girl.I think all the Opticians in our Specsavers are Asian. She was just brilliant.I have been to several different Opticians over the years but have always found Specsavers the best.
Mel It was Michel ,Mathew and Rachel who went to the races yesterday .Janice and Larry never go to that.I haven't heard if they won anything. Horse Racing is one sport I really can't bare to watch .I remember a few years ago I think 2 horses had to be put down on the course !!!!! This is why I hate it.
Hannah and Gareth are supposed to be walking this weekend (Seven Sisters) in preparation for Hannahs Ben Nevis climb but with this weather I am not sure if they will have gone. She was going to try out her new walking boots and walking poles .
I just realised I haven't put my shopping away. I've been home for a couple of hours !!!!

Hope Janice and Larry enjoyed their day at the races and came home with money in their pockets if they had a flutter.
Jane good news on the eye front then. No new glasses and a good result that your eyes hav'nt changed since the last time.
Pleased your hand is a bit better this morning Frank now watch it during the day and don,t knock it on anything.
Yes they did use honey for cuts etc as its antiseptic and cobwebs too to stop bleeding.
Still snowing here so I better get myself into gear and go and do the Saturday tasks.

Forgot to mention, It is SIXTY YEARS TODAY. that I joined the RAF for National Service. Started off at Cardington in Bedford for injections and kitting out.The weather then was just like today Froze our bits off lol lol.
Missed you Liz, we both posted together. GREAT MINDS THINK ALIKE. lol lol Like me Liz, I won't be going anywhere today. he heating is on and everywhere is nice and warm, whereas the pub is always cold. So no real choice. lol
You certainly won't go hungry with all those veg.
Denis next door has just called round to say a fence panel has blown down into our garden. It's his fence so I don't know why he's telling me. I expect as I am YOUNGER than him, he expects me to do it. !!!
The chap at the bottom of the garden on the left called over to Ros yesterday afternoon to say the covering on our shed roof has been blown off in all this wind. THAT'S TWO THINGS. What next. ???
I will have to ring Harvey to see when he can come up and recover the shed roof and fix the fence panel.

Good morning Gill and all,
No nasty after effects from the burn. In fact the blisters have disappeared, so that is good. I kept it covered in a clean handkerchief during the night. Not that it was covered this morning when I woke up.
Good news on the Alan front Anne, les hope he soon get better and discharged from hospital.
Yes, I agree with you Gill. I was thinking if you were putting in another hedge, it wouldn't matter too much if bits of the old one came through. One good thing is, with just a fence you will see any growing bits, and can dig them out. I saw that bit about the "YELLOW SNOW" it made me smile also.
Well the "MINI BEAST" has arrived here. The wind is blowing a gale and the snow is starting to fall. Not sure if I will bother with the football today at the pub. My book sounds more inviting. lol lol.
I have warned Ros about this wind. It's so easy to be blown around. I don't want her having any accidents. I have told her to WRAP up warm, as I don't expect there will be any heating on at Martines MILs house.
I had a reminder for an eye test yesterday. I expect they will want me to have new glass's. (MORE EXPENSE) Did you have to have new ones Jane ??. Did the police find any evidence at your neighbours shed break in. Someone must have kept an eye on his place, and thought the tools would be back in there. I am getting lots of notices from the Local Police site, of break- ins, at houses and vehicles in the local villages.
John was saying yesterday that while he was in Tenerife his home alarm system went off. Derrick a friend is a key holder and was called out at 2.00 am. The long and short of it is the alarm people thought the MICE had nibbled through a wire. So he has had a complete new system installed, with every up to date gadget (HE WOULD) He can see anywhere in and around his home from his mobile telephone. the system can be activated from his phone, and of course it alerts both the police and the alarm company should it go off. I didn't ask the cost, but you can jus imagine. !!!!
SNOW is more persistent now, and is settling on the patio and lawn. Mel. he forecast is bad for the South West. so batten down the hatches.!!
Ros just mentioned that when she was in Martines MILs, she remarked that she liked three paintings of TIGERS in the hallway. So Martine said they are yours when she pass's on. So I expect she will be bringing those home today, where the hell we will put them I don't know.
Please be careful if you are out in this weather, we don't want to hear of any mishaps . xxx

The seeds will be fine Gill, we haven't watered them though as its best not to until the weather improves. We've got tomatoes sweet corn, courgette, leeks, purple spouting, curly kale, carrots, spinach, runner beans, oh, and sweet peas!! later on we will be planting out potatoes, as you see we won't starve!! We've had quite a snow storm earlier on, that very fine snow that gets on everywhere, it's stopped now but the sky looks full of it!! We're not going anywhere today, OH has just nipped down to the shop to get some milk, but apart from that we're staying in the warm! Hope you enjoy doing your tree :-)

I thought that might be the case Frank which is why we'd prefer to take all the roots out. We are just having a fence, no hedge this time. I hope your scald isn't to bad and heals quickly. Like Jane said no bursting the blisters you don't want an infection. 40 pairs of new shoes, gosh that's a lot, you're right there's going to be a lot of ladies enjoying them from the charity shop.
Pleased to hear about John Anne, everyone must be so thrilled.
Will the new seeds be okay in the greenhouse with the cold weather on it's way Liz, or won't it make any difference when it warms up again? What seeds did your OH buy?
Pleased to hear that your eye test went well Jane, it's always a worry when you have to have tests of any kind. At least you know nothing has changed in the last 12 months.
Well, OH sorted the gutters out, apparently there was another leak on the side of the bungalow. Apparently both the brackets needed new rubber seals, thankfully they were only a few quid each, so both of them done for less than a fiver. We're just hoping we don't have to much snow as the weight might pull them down a bit which is what started the leak in the first place. OH has popped a piece of wood in between the gutter and wall to try and keep it in place, not sure if it'll work though.
I had to laugh before, I was watching the weather and the weather girl said there was a yellow warning for snow, not yellow snow, it did make me laugh. It reminded me of the tip someone said once........never eat yellow snow...yuk.
Off to watch Masterchef now.

Good evening all
Much better news for John, he is now on the cardiac ward and they are considering keyhole surgery to put in a defibrillator, should it happen again. so the outcome is so much better than first thought which is such good news for Cathy and his two sons.
Frank the accident you had with the boiling water sounds so painful, It's amazing how quickly these things can happen. I think I joined Ros last night with the trips to the loo, I usually only need to go once in the night.
I hope Janice and Larry enjoyed their trip to the races, Nicky Henderson's sister worked at the Arts centre in the visual Arts department in the early 80's she was really nice to work with. I have never been to a horse race with Ascot being only 10 minutes from here by car It never really appealed to me.
That was good Jane with your eye test and no expense with you having to buy new specs unless you fancy a change of course.

Really busy day here. OH went to the Garden Centre this morning to get some seeds, then he went off to do a bit of grocery shopping for the weekend. I spent the morning doing washing and H. work!! OH then spent the whole afternoon putting the seeds into trays/pots! they're now in the greenhouse where they hopefully will germinate! I took Cas a nice long walk, then prepared the supper veg (potatoes and leeks) COT, and here we both are, watching Bergerac!! Sounds a nasty scald Frank. Honey is very good for burns/scalds, it was used a lot during the war to help aircrew who were burnt in their planes. We find it invaluable. Glad to hear your roof is not as bad as you thought Gill, take it easy in the garden, you don't want to exhaust yourself. :-)

Afternoon All
FRank Don't try popping any blisters from your burn. That is how infection can set in. I can just imagine how painful it is. Scalding water is agony for ages. I think cling film as suggested is the best thing and Paracetamol. Who's a silly billy :-S. It is easy done though to knock a mug over like that . I hope the appointment comes through quickly for Ros.She needs to get this problem sorted once and for all now doesn't she.
Mandy ,I was going to ask the same as Frank as to whether OH's Sister has family at home if she is not going to able to walk any longer. Not a good situation for her to be in :-(
I hope John has continued to improve Anne and has a bed now in the Cardiac ward.
Mel that cut on OH's knuckle is in an awkward place .I hope it doesn't keep opening up. These men in the wars !!!!
That is a big hedge for you to cut down Gill !! But your front garden will look so different once that is done ,and you have the new fencing and gate. I too have not heard of having to confirm a hospital appointment .Only just to let them know if you can't attend.
Frank, am I correct in thinking there is a new Council Headquarters that cost £50 million that was only completed 6 months ago??? There are going to be so many cut backs, even more than have been planned I reckon :-S :-S The trouble is it will be the people who really need certain services that will no doubt be hit the worst. Yep we are in a right old Pickle here in Northants :-S :-S
The sun has been shining all day here and I can't quite believe its all downhill again with freezing temps and snow. Has anyone had trouble with little annoying tiny black flies about the size of midges? We seem to have so many irritating little so and sos in the house. I did notice outside today a massive massive cloud of midgy things.Or Gnats. It must be the mild weather. Hopefully this next cold snap will finish them off.
I had my eye test this morning and all is good. My pressures still remain borderline but no change and the start of the Cataract hasn't changed either in the last 12months. I don't need any new specs either :-D So that was all positive :-D
Janice's lot are at the Races today in Cheltenham.I wonder if they have made a fortune LOL

That'll teach you not to leave a spoon in the mug.
It started with hailsones just at lunchtime which soon turned to rain and its been raining ever since.
Went up to get our scripts and it dos'nt get nay better in there as I had to wait ages to get to the counter and then check everything and they had given me the wrong pills as the doc changed them a couple of weeks ago as I was getting such a dry mouth. Also booked a blood pressure test for next Thursday so please remind me. Its at 11.30am.

Hi all,
No problems after yesterday, thanks Mel. BUT this afternoon about 3.20 I was making Ros a COT as she came in from the greenhouse, potting on a load of seedlings the arrived in the post yesterday. I poured the boiling water into the mug, and caught my hand on the spoon, knocking the mug of boring water over my right hand and wrist. I have been standing at the sink with my hand under running cold water for almost half an hour. Now got it wrapped in CLING FILM, as told to by 111 assistant. She told me I should go to A & E within the next hour. But as there is only slight blistering, I won't bother. Thank goodness I am left handed. It comes in handy sometimes. ;-) ;-) ;-)
I trust you are all well. Speak again soon. xxx
