Getting on here is a bit of a nightmare, the error page is coming up more and more frequently grrr! Perhaps the thread needs closing and starting again. On Gransnet they only go to about 900, then it closes and you start the topic again if you want to! Just an idea. Well, we have running water into the house!! Hooray, OH is a clever fellow and thank goodness he can do these sorts of jobs!! We're both getting in the shower and doing a bit of clothes washing!! It's taken three days to get us fully operational again, hopefully for good!! Better ring M & L and let them know that Dad has come up trumps again!! They won't be surprised, as he always does!!

Our snow is all but gone now. I walked round to Em's this morning to deliver the eggs and the boys were making snowman 2 in the garden. The first one only came to a point as the snow would'nt stick together but it had a face and a w*lly so they named it Chilly Willy. The one they made this morning looked like ET as half its face fell off each side but it had eyes etc.
A couple of years ago I gave the boys my sledge and they were over grandads field oppisit yesterday and George was wizzing down on it. They took a video but it was too big to send me so I had to watch it on their pc this morning and see all the snowy pictures of them and there were many.........
George was 18 months old the last time we had snow and Sam had never seen it either, not this thick.
The pipe that burst was the one outside the kitchen so no mess indoors thank goodness. Oh has made a repair but I think he will have to redo it when the weather gets better and we can get out for some copper fittings and some new pipe lagging. The wind was blowing from the east and straight past the bungalow so the pipe was in the coldest bit.

Afternoon all, There was quite a good covering of snow this morning but the thaw has started and it's gone quite slushy now , we haven't been out ,well only to the shed for more wood .
Frank i bet you gave that chap a good few choice words ,fancy not even saying sorry and imagine if it had been a child it could have hit the childs head and had them off their ,feet silly man . What a funny neighbour he is ,you help him and he couldn't even be bothered to ask if he could get you any thing from the shop when he went .
Mel i hope you haven't had to much mess with the burst pipe and that OH manages to sort it out .
So the men are happy the shower is up and running again Jane , i wonder if your neighbours have left the heating on low while away ,they might be home to burst pipes if not . Colin's brother and wife should be home today from Barbados they will certainly feel the cold .
We have a nice stew for tonight ,might even make some dumplings .

Afternoon All
Yes I think the thaw has begun now.The icicles on the summerhouse have just about melted. The snow was a lot thicker though this morning .It is very misty and murky and really quite unpleasant . I went to the post office and had trouble getting out of the drive.I kept having to roll forward and then back again several times .When I came out of th ePost Office I realised my car was parked about 3 feet away from the pavement .I just assumed the edge of the snow was the edge of the pavement LOL
Frank fancy that horrible man who whacked you with the ironing board not even bothering to say sorry. There are such rude folk sometimes :-S I hope he didnt bruise you. As for the person who stole that Sand Box WELL shame on them.I bet they nicked it in the night.Just thinking of them selves and blow anyone else. They must have had a big van or something to get that one away!! I hope they found it empty :-D :-D
Oh Mel I hope you havent got too much mess with the burst pipe. Our showers are working again Liz :-D. So the men were happy this morning. I had a nice bath as I didnt have one yesterday or a shower. James has broken the Snow Shovel. He was digging his car free in the drive early this morning to go for a haircut . Luckily we have a couple more. I keep wondering about the bungalow next door and about any possible frozen pipes.I can see be their drive that no-one has been in to check. But as I said the other day there is nothing we can do.They are still away for another couple of weeks. We have friends several doors further down who have been in New Zealand for a month and are due back today. They are going to get a shock coming back to this .I hope they took some warm clothes with them as they will need them when they get out of the Airport :-D. I know they left their key with our friend so she will have been keeping an eye on their house.
I found a programme on my Iplayer this morning that I must have missed on TV. It is called Keeping Faith. I thought it was just the one programme of the series I had missed but it was 3 so I have watched them all now :-D. The first 2 were in bed and the 3rd one I took the laptop into the bathroom and put it on the windowsill and watched it from the bath :-D :-D.. It is really really good.
This mist seems to be looking a bit thicker now. I am worried about the snow thawing up in the 2 fields on our side up the road.I cant think what year it was but it was around Eastertime and the water melted and poured straight down and flooded us and many houses along this stretch. It was because the Gully and ditches had not been maintained and were all clogged up. I can't be coping with that happening again.
I must get washing in the machine.I keep putting it off as it is so cold in there.

We ventured out to Tesco, just back. Once off the side roads, the main roads are clear. As we went over the M 1 it looked very quiet of traffic.
Tesco was like a heaving mass of people. As I walked in a guy coming out was carrying an IRONING board under his arm. He swung it, and hit me full force on my right arm and side. I let out a lot of verbal abuse at him and he didn't even say sorry. The idiots walking around in there was unbelievable. One had a FIFTY INCH PLUS T.V. across his trolly, which took up the whole isle. Why not go straight to the check out and put it in his car. Chances are he was on a BIKE. LOL LOL.
I checked on the neighbours to see that they had everything they needed for the weekend, and yes they were fine. Tony, being Tony, said he walked to he village shop and got what HE WANTED. Didn't bother to ring us. !!! We won't be moving anywhere today or tomorrow. even though it looks like there might be a thaw.

He's half way through fixing it I think. The water is off and he keeps coming back in for fittings.

Well it's much brighter here today and the icy windows are clear!! OH has reconnected our water tank and hopefully the pipe to the house will thaw fairly soon. Meanwhile we have got a good system going as a temporary measure,. We'veve got several containers of cold water + two saucepans full of water, one in the log burner oven, and one on top of the log burner, plus the kettle to provide hot water, so this morning I was able to wash my hair, have a wash in the shower and do some hand washing, which is now spin drying. the bathroom has a permanent bucket of water in it for the loo so we're feeling pretty chipper! Next summer a lot more foam insulation will be installed as we don't want a repeat performance next winter!! Forgive me Mel, but why do you and OH have individual ponds? I don't think we could be bothered with his and hers period as it must get a bit muddly. Surely it'd be easier if things were joint?

Good morning all,
Well we had no let up with the snow last night. It was still snowing when I went to bed at 11.00 pm. I slept well and didn't wake for the loo until 5.30 am I looked out then and the snow had stopped, but looked quite thick. Went back to bed till 8.30.
Martine ring to say there was no chance of her getting out this morning, she lives at the bottom a HILL. Would you believe some VERY NASTY PEOPLE. have stolen the SALT BOX from the corner of her road. How on earth they managed that God only knows.
The card I sent and flowers for my sister birthday haven't arrived last night. So I hope hey turn up today. I did' order them for Saturdy delivery as they wanted an extra £5.50 delivery for Saturday.
Sorry Gill, but I would have though the last thing you should be worrying about is a pot blowing over. We have them down all over the patio, and they can stay like it until this weather improves.
How are the rest of you COPING with this weather.?? I see there is freezing rain around. That must be terrible to try to get around in.
All I need o do today is get a joint from the freezer in the garage, hen it will be shower, shave. get dressed and stay in the warm.
The things we need can wait until it's safe to get out. Only one 4 x 4 has gone out of the close this morning. It seems all those close by, are doing the same as us. Their cars are piled with snow where the wind has blown it, The sky looks full of snow, so I am not sure if we are over it yet.
That winter of 62/3 was when I moved into my first house. As you say, it started Boxing day, jus as the FAMILY were leaving after being with us for the day. the next morning when I come down stairs, the front door and porch was blocked with snow drifts. I had to go out of the back door, go round the front and dig it out. That day never to be forgotten.
Stay safe and warm. See you later.

Morning all
It looks like we had quite a bit of snow in the night and there are a few flakes still blowing in the breeze now.
I've found a Sky channel with 60 minute makeover on so we're going to watch those, they are on one after the other until 4pm so that'll keep us all out of mischief lol
I felt like finishing the wallpapering this morning but thought it best to give myself another couple of days and do it on Monday instead. At least I'm feeling better so hopefully the bug I had has gone now.
The snow has started coming down more now, hope we don't have to much more of it I'm getting fed up of it now and it's freezing out there. I had to help OH move another pot plant as it was leaning over to one side. We swapped it for a lower one so hopefully the wind won't blow it over again. Thankfully the screening is still up so that's good, I'm glad we strengthened it a few months ago.
Well, I'd better go Sandra and OH are waiting to watch the TV. We are hoping to go out when the weather improves as Sandra wants to buy herself some more books.
Keep warm and safe <3

Nice to see you back Anne, Sandra is okay, she was only ill for a couple of days with a sore throat. She's hardly ever ill so is lucky there, unlike her dad and I, we always seem to be catching one thing or another. Hope you are feeling a little better now. Did Ruby play in the snow in the end, it sounds like you've had quite a bit? Good job you have plenty of food in with Sainsbury's not doing any deliveries, it would of been a worry otherwise.
Have you got your showers working yet Jane? Hope you haven't got any leaks anywhere.
I forgot to mention Masterchef started this week for anyone who is interested. It's on BBC.1. around 7.30 to 8pm. I think I remember you mentioning that you watched it Frank. Sorry I forgot to mention it earlier.
It's just started snowing again here.
I'm starting to get tired so will be off to bed shortly, see you all tomorrow Night Night

I remember 1962/3 Anne too, as you said it started snowing on Boxing Day and finally ended in early March!! I was working in Oxford and had to go in and out on the bus each day what a performance that was as it SO cold!!, I'd passed my driving test, but no car!! I used to borrow my mothers on odd occasions but didn't have my own for quite a while! Off to bed now, we're proper tired!!

Good evening all
It's been snowing here most of the day. Since I've lived in Bracknell from 1966 I can't ever remember the weather being this bad although Hastings in 1963 was a lot worse I remember it started on Boxing day 1962 and lasted for ages. Sainsbury rang yesterday to say they weren't doing any deliveries so It's fortunate I already have plenty of food in the freezer and bacon, eggs, milk, and butter in the fridge. I have now put the order in for Sunday. All the Bracknell schools are closed and I had to cancel Ruby's appointment with the vet. Ruby loves the snow and keeps asking to go out and play in it
Pleased to hear you are starting to feel a little better Gill but as the others said don't do too much for a while the wall papering can wait, your own health must come first. How is Sandra now? She must be pleased you are on the mend
That was a nice snowy scene Liz and a cute photo of Cas in her warm coat.
Sorry to read about your Bantum Cockie Mel was it something you expected? The cold weather can't have helped him
See the Hat has been busy indoors this time Jane. Hope James arrived home safely and Thomas is home in the warm.

I still up and running NOT. We have had snow all afternoon and evening. You can't see the kerbs now, just a mass of snow. I have told Ros that she is not going out tomorrow unless there is a big thaw overnight, which I doubt will happen.
I have been stuck in my book for most of the day. Finished it while the B soaps are on.
Did HOCK and mussy peas with mash tonight. It's a dinner that keeps you on th go. You have to keep topping up the water in the hock saucepan. When you do the peas you have to stand over them. If they boil over, you have a horrible mess to clear up. All in all I was in and out of he kitchen quite a lot today.
Nothing on Tele, so I won't be late to bed. See you in the morning. I will try to read the post before then.

Love the pic of HAT it's just come through Jane, gave me a giggle. Hope James made it home okay and isn't still stuck in traffic. Pleased to hear Thomas made it home okay.
Sorry to hear about Cockle Mel, hope it wasn't the cold that got to him. I reported the error page to Genes but they just told me to clear my cache, I did but it didn't seem to make much difference. At least I reported it, as like you said Mel, if enough people tell them about the problem they might sort it out.

Sorry Mandy, I thought you did, I got the wrong end of the stick! It hasn't thawed all day, so they're still frozen!!! Hopefully it'll get warmer over the weekend, and we can all get back to normal!! Fish pie was delicious, so easily and with rice virtually no washing up! Now for an evening of nothing on TV as OH constantly says!! Thanks for the pic Mel.
