Frank Report 24 Feb 2018 12:06

Liz, I am on sleeping tablets from the doctors. I have been taking them since my stroke 14 years ago next month. They are to ry to slow down that part of my brain that was affected. I m beginning to wonder if they are any good after all these years. I am so use to it now, I don' know what is is to have TWO good nights on the trot. LOL LOL

|Jus had my 6 books turn up. Wha a great selection and all for £2.00. There are hard backs in there too.

I have been to the bins, and that wind is enough to cut you in half, so I am undecided if I want to walk to the pub for the football.

OH is out on his tractor and trailer this morning bring down some timber to cut for logs! that'll be this afternoons job! I must get some soup on for lunch.
Very wise about the shopping Frank! We have to go the dentist on Monday so will get any additional shopping then.
Just done the bird bath, they need to drink as well as bath.
Sorry you have such trouble sleeping Frank. Have you tried taking Quiet Life? I find its very good.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 24 Feb 2018 11:25

Suns out well here and you can feel the warmth in it but the blooming wind is so bitterly cold. I have to go up the hsop and get some bits and the paper as it did'nt help without my car last week I did'nt do a big shop. Oh said I am not aloud out shopping if the weather turns really bad so I shall have to get some stuff at the shop again.

My hands were cold even in my gardening gloves this morning when I went to the chickens. The water was frozen in their drinkers and their house needs a clean out and bantams too.

Not another bad Frank. Have you tried playing cards on the pc? I find that will make me sleepy sometimes.

Frank Report 24 Feb 2018 10:23

Good morning Gill and Mel, Halo to all the other sweeties xx

I am considering getting a job as a shelf stacker at Tesco's on NIGHT SHIFT. Then I will be able to sleep during the day !!

Last night I couldn't keep my eyes open at 9.30 so got tucked into bed. Still awake when Ros came in 12.30. Got up and had a COT and read until 3.00 am. Slept until 7.30. Stayed in bed trying to doze off again, with no luck, so got up.

Poor you Gill, I hope you feel a bit better after another sleep. xx

Mel, that reminds me I must check the bird baths down the bottom of the garden. They still need to bath even in the cold weather.

Martine rang last night. Her MIL is in hospital. It appears she is on her last legs. She has (Marine) been spending nights by her bedside. Brian her OH is so incapacitated he is unable to be any help. Martine tries to take him to see his mother during the day in a wheelchair. She has had to take time off work and she doesn't get paid. With only a bit of Social for Brian, they will be struggling to make ends meet. I will tell Ros to offer to help out financially, for a week or so. IF SHE WILL LET US.

Well I have opened up a "BEES NEST" with burial etc. arrangements. But it has to be done, as we are not (well some of us) getting any younger. !!!!

I have told Ros to get extra milk, bread and whatever she thinks we might need, as next week promises to be a bit of a Bu@@er. Could get 4 " of snow Mon/Tues. I don't want her out driving in those conditions.

I rang Harvey last nigh o tell him not o come up next week if the weather is bad, so he is going to pop up this afternoon to measure up for the pipes and brackets he will need.

Plenty of birds around this morning, so I must go out and feed them. I have a big drum of meal worms in the conservatory, that will go down well !!!

Take care if you are out and about, and keep warm and safe. xxx

Oh dear Gll, poor you it's just one bug on top of another! Let's hope it doesn't last too long!
Another beautiful morning here but very cold! Merlin has gone out looking bushy!!
Talking of fish fingers, that's what were having for supper tonight, chips and peas!! We haven't had them for ages so it'll be a change!
Better tackle the dust this morning! that's the problem with the sun it shows every mark including windows!

Morning all.

Sorry to hear you are ill again Gill, Be pampered over the weekend by the family and have a nice rest. I think you do too much and I hope its just tiredness and not another bug to go around the rest of the family. Wishing you better. <3

Another frosty morning here and now the suns outs so it will soon burn it off. I see the birdbath is completely empty. Oh must have cleaned it out when he washed my car with the pressure washer. There was water in it the other day so I must fill it up today as they will need it.

I've been looking at the face book page where a little Border collie Max had got out ,he's been loose for over eight hours ,lots of sightings of him and so many people out there trying to find him ,he was heading for the A47 !!! but because he's so young he didn't even know his name so it was hard to get him to come to them ,but he's just been caught and is back with his family ,i can sleep tonight now .

Cold out now and i think i can see a bit of frost .

I always think of you now Jane since you told us you lived there. There is some beautiful scenery around there and lovely beaches by the looks of things. We arn't really beach people but its nice to have a walk along the beach when oh's family come down and Stephanie loves it.

Still no Anne, I do hope she's not feeling too poorly. Thinking of you Anne and hoping you'll be back with us soon <3
Yes Jane, all these decisions, I've told L that if we get too debilitated to find a home for us. I know, what home!!! I just can't see being looked after by family even with carers, it would be such a burden for them. MND! whew, not a happy thought! You're right though, it does need to be seriously sorted. I think a bog standard C of E funeral service. Need to keep your options open as you never quite know, and by the time you do, it could be too late!!!! :-D. Lovely to see the church, even if it was tinged with sadness.

Bunnyboo

Bunnyboo Report 23 Feb 2018 18:59

Only ashes Jane so I think we will be able to snuggle in, at least alongside!! They're not going to get away from us that easily!!!
We've just had our supper, gold plated lamb chops (the price was extortionate!!) smash potato and mushrooms. It was yummy though!
Merlin has grown the thickest coat I think he's ever had. This time of year OH always feels his ears last thing before we go to bed, and runs his hands underneath his top coat just to make absolutely certain that he is warm enough. We don't want to put a coat on him, but we would if we had to.

Jane

Jane Report 23 Feb 2018 18:06

Liz, I did chuckle there .I hope there is enough room in with Mum and Dad for all you lot plus dog :-D :-D
Oh I dont like doing this thing. It is something called My Decisions.org and it is all questions as to what you would want should you either become incapacitated with Dementia, Illness such as MND ,Or other degenerative illness like that, terminal illness etc.. I started to do it but have decided I need to sit down now and having a good think about what I would want to happen to me in such circumstances. So over the weekend I will get my head down and do it. I havent seen what Chris has put on his form yet.

What a happy subject eh! But it will be good for Hannah and James to know our wishes . The next thing will be want we want funeral wise,Organ donation etc. It is good that these days it is much easier to discuss these issues with family rather than just a few years ago Death would not be talked about at all and just brushed aside.

Frank, I did see the dog Bramble with that 7ft log :-D :-D :-D. She looked so pleased with herself didnt she. All the other pics too of the other dogs with their finds.
Ruth Langsford absolutely loved them didnt she.

The Coroner (programme) today had a funeral in the Church where Chris and I got married :-D. The same Church where I was a choir girl,Hannah and James were Christened and where my Dad's funeral service was. It felt a bit strange seeing that coffin there today in exactly the same place as where dad was :-( Brought back happy but sad memories too.It is such a lovely old church there right on the top of the cliff over looking Wembury Bay.

These Fish fingers I had yesterday and today were 'Youngs' Panko Breadcrumb Haddock fish fingers. Lovely big bits of fish and very tasty too. Mandy I could never eat a fish finger that wasnt either Cod or Haddock. Yesterday was the first time in a VERY long time that I had them. I just got a sudden craving. Hence the pregnancy :-D :-D.. Saying that I never had any cravings when I was pregnant.

Gill it was sad to hear that Leon from Gogglebox passed away before Christmas. Was his wife called June or Joan? I did remember though that the last time I saw him on the programme I thought he didnt look too well.He was looking thinner and a bit frail,so it couldnt have been long after that that he must have died.

It is just almost dark now. The last of the light has almost gone. Thomas it out hunting. He had something today and left bloody remains outside the back door :-S. I hope he isnt out too long as i dont want to have to keep opening the door to see if he is waiting to come in.It's too cold. This when I wish we could have a cat flap .

Cauliflower Cheese tonight(Frank :-D) with Saute Potatoes and Youngs Basa Fillets with a Lemon and Herb Crust. That is fish twice for me today !!!(unheard of)
James is off to Jess later but he is still at work. I have a cottage pie for him.

I have been busy doing nothing as usual. I keep finding I have to feed the chickens or put the washing on the line and then its time to take it off again and corn the chickens after washing up the lunch things. I never seem to have any time to myself lately. It must be me. :-(

I want to make something and can't decide what I want to do as well. Still I did manage to make the hog this week. I think I will give up housework over the weekend and do some sewing.

I have so many eggs this week that I had to ring Em and see if she would have three dozen this week. She said she would take however many I want to bring her as she can give some to her mum and her sister would have some too.

Bunnyboo Report 23 Feb 2018 16:08

No we didn't Frank, tbh we hardly ever have TV on in the morning, it's usually about 1 pm before it goes on for the news then off till late afternoon. I must say we haven't got round to Pall Bearers!! but it is a thought!! We both want our ashes to be put with my parents (they are buried in the same grave) I think M and L want to do the same, but that of course could change. My poor parents thought they'd found some peace and we lot descend on them - again!! probably plus a dog!!
We're getting on very well with freeview! It's taken a bit of getting used to, but we've been able to find nearly all the progs we had on sky, we can record two progs instead of only one and we can have it on in the bedroom as before. Apparently some new channels are being added at the end of Feb so it'll be interesting to see what turns up
All in all its been a good move!
Must take Cas for a quick run!.

Frank Report 23 Feb 2018 15:07

Hi All,

Yes. It's not the best subject to talk about (passing over) but rightly so it has to be sorted. We made new wills a month or so ago, so that's all sorted, as where we will end up. We do have Burial plots next to Ros's Mum and Dad, all paid for. But as we have spent 40 years here, we decided we would stay "LOCAL" lol lol. I only mentioned to Ros this week, if she thought Harvey,Conrad, Simon, and Lewis would be my pallbearers. She said she is sure they will, but I will need to ask them. I certainly it won't be for a long time to come. ;-) ;-) ;-)

JANES HAVING A BABY. I think I will put the on FB. :-D :-D :-D As for fish fingers, I have only ever eaten them once. That was when I first got married in 1959. Didn't like them, and haven't had them since.

MEL, I found a pink thingy on our drive way, are you sure your OH hasn't been up here visiting lol lol.

What a frost this morning !!!I It seemed to take forever for the sun to dispose of it. I hen't been outside yet today, so can't say how cold it is. Heating on here, so we are nice and warm. I am in a T shirt and Joggers.

Washing is still on the line next door. I'm not being nosey, I can see the line from where I sit on the computer.

Had contact with an old Pal this week. We use to meet at the football club on Friday nights. He still goes there, so I might give him a surprise and get Ros to take me up there one of these Friday's.

I must check that Ros has altered the clock, or we will be getting up too early again tomorrow, and that won't do.

Nice loin of pork for tonight, with mushroom and onion whizzed up in the food processor and cooked with cream and olive oil. I have done the potato's ready for roasting. I can now get back to my book or NAT GEO.

Did anyone see those doge on the T.V. this morning carrying those BRANCHES. Some were up to SEVEN FOOT LONG. (the branches not the DOGS) lol lol I did have a good laugh at them. Little darlings !!!

COT on the way. See you later.

Afternoon all,

Another frost here this morning but it soon went ,the wind seems to have got up now though.

Mel i love your latest little craft project ,he does look like he's snuggled up in a little basket .
You'll have to tell OH not to out when it's frosty Mel ,carn't have bit's of him dropping off in this cold snap!!! :-D

Frank fancy your neighbour hanging washing out and leaving it to get stiff as a board overnight .
So up earlier than you needed to be this morning ,you could have said you were having a trial run for the clocks altering next month .

Gill its a shame you don't like the wallpaper you've hung but it's good you decided you didn't like it before you had hung any more ,i hope you can find some lighter paper you like .

Glad your Sciatica is a bit easier for you today Jane ,oh goodness you have a job this afternoon but it has to be done i suppose .
I love fish fingers too but they do have to be cod fish fingers ,carn't be doing with those that have that dark coloured fish in ,no telling what the fish is :-S

Oh i better go and turn my Coffee sponges out of the tin ,they must be cool now .

Bunnyboo Report 23 Feb 2018 14:13

Jane!!! :-D. Glad you leg is feeling better! Mine's a bit iffy, but not too bad!!
A very good idea to sort out your end of life plans! We have got power of attorney in place between the two of us so one can act for the other if one of us becomes incapacitated. We've also updated our wills, and left a list of particular goods and chattles to try and prevent post mortem squabbles!!! Both ours know where we want our final resting place to be and they will make sure it happens, and said no to resuscitation when all is lost in a manner of speaking. The only thing we haven't done is power of attorney if we both/one become incapacitated. Have to have a bit of a think about that!! Bit of a depressing subject, but as you say it needs facing and addressing!
It's a lovely day here, but a biting wind!!
Pregnant??!! eeeek!!

Jane

Jane Report 23 Feb 2018 13:13

Afternoon All
I bet there could well be a lot of pink shrivelled things today not sure on the patio though LOL. It's blooming cold and it ain't about to get any warmer any time soon according to the forecast. Snow here maybe on Monday. It looks like Mel will be the warmest down in Devon at 0 degs !!! I love the expression Beast from the East the cold Arctic weather.

I am not bothering to put any washing out at all at the moment as I know it wont dry and cant see the point in freezing myself . Fancy Tony not bothering to bring the sheets in .I wonder how long they will hang there !!

Gill a good idea to rest your leg today and just relax and enjoy the Winter Olympics or do your tree.
I must do this thing that Hannah has been asking us to do for ages and that is to say what we want should we become incapacitated . She wants to know our wishes as to what to do when our time is up(so to speak) . Keep us alive or Do not Resuscitate .What we want as regards funerals etc etc. This will be fun :-S :-S But it is important to do so I shall get on with it this afternoon.

Liz my Sciatica feels less painful so far today .I am making sure I take all the pills I need to to try and keep on top of it. I will be rattling soon :-S.
I hope you have put the clock right now Frank !!!!. It must have been pretty dark when you both got up this morning
:-D
Lunch now. I seem to have a thing about Fish Fingers at the moment.(hope I am not pregnant :-D ) I had them yesterday and am having them again now. Just with some tomatoes, cucumber and celery.

Mel I loved your little Hedgehog . Yes it did look like it is lying in a basket :-D

He's funny Mel, did you find it? ;-) ;-) ;-)

So you've got an extra hour to your day now Frank. Pleased to hear you had a good nights sleep, I bet you feel much better for it today.

Yes, I noticed Mandy didn't post yesterday, hope she is okay.

I've been thinking about Anne, hope things are improving for her and she's soon back with us.

I've been trying to find some records on Ancestry for my tree but so far can't seem to find the ones I need.......so much for them being free. I hope I can find a way through these brick walls I have.

I have got the fire and the heating on as it's sooo cold here today and it's supposed to be going colder over the next week. Be careful on the roads and paths if you have to go out everyone <3
