Hi Liz ,great to see you back again. The first name I saw I thought was a new poster LOL
Chicken pie was totally scrummy tonight. I added some bacon lardons this time with the leeks and mushrooms and fresh Tarragon .The Asparagus was not good. So that went in the bin :-S

I am off to bed shortly to watch the second part of Silent Witness.
I won't be back now until Chris has sorted this laptop out tomorrow .

Thanks Gill. Not too sure about Sky Free Sat as It would appear that you can't record anything!! OH will ring Sky tomorrow and talk to them about it. If this is the case then we shall have a look at Free view or Free sat (not sky but you can use the sky dish) we've got a chap coming to see us on Monday to discuss the options before we decide what to do, but as you say, paying every month for something you don't use fully is a bit ridiculous, I'll keep you posted!!
14 isn't THAT old for a horse particularly native horses, Merlin could live to 25-30 or even older!! Our daughter will take care of him if he out lives us which has set our minds at rest. Cas would go to our son.

Hi Liz great to see you back on here, you have been missed <3 <3 <3
I've been thinking of changing from Sky to freesat but wasn't sure if the channels we watch are all available on the free one, shall have to look into it. Most of what we watch are the main channels like you, so not worth paying month in and month out for channels that are available free. Could you let me know what the free channels are like please as not knowing has put me off doing it myself. Hope you don't mind me asking?

It sounds like Cas is coming on great with her beating. Good idea to get her a waterproof coat. Can't wait to see her in it :-) How old do horses live to, is 14 old? Sandra and I loved the photo you sent of him.

Hi everyone! The wanderer returns! I've got a bit sick of having to email, and I'm sure Mel is fed up with having to cut and paste!!. Thank you Mel etc for keeping in touch with me, it's been a boost.
Not that much to say, commiserations to all you poorly folk, and hope you all recover soon. OH is busy getting us transferred onto Sky free sat! We've been on a sky package for years now but are fed up with the monthly charge when we only watch the main channels and the geographic/history channels. Hopefully this will prove beneficial!!
Marmalade making is in full swing so never a dull moment!!
Cas has had a brilliant season beating,! At last she has calmed down a lot and actually listens to instruction!! I've ordered a waterproof 'under the belly coat' for her as she has been getting so muddy and wet in the fields. It's due tomorrow so will send a pic!
Merlin is his usual plodding self! He's 14 in April, so becoming a senior citizen!!

So it was your meds causing you all the problems then Jane. Let's hope they come out of your system quickly. Your chicken pie sounds nice. OH still hasn't made his mind up what he wants so I'll just make Sandra and I something for now and make OH his later if he wants something. He's drinking plenty so at least he's getting some fluids down him. He's still complaining of being cold. Do you think it might be the chest infection Jane? Is it possible to feel cold if you have a temperature? It's quite hot in here, so I can't see how he can still be cold.

It's quiet on here today, where is everyone?

Back from the Dr. I was in 3 minutes early which was really good. I explained about my hair and eyelashes falling out and the difficuty in walking and he has said I can stop taking the tablets :-D :-D :-D :-D. He said he had exactly the same converstition yesterday with a lady who was on the same tablets. Thay just have so many horrible side effects.
So fingers crossed it wont be too long before my hair and eyelashes stop coming out and my walking will improve. He did say it wont happen over night as the medication takes some time to work its way out of the system.

Thick Pork Chops sound nice Frank. Lets hope you fancy eating yours tonight.
I am just about to make a chicken pie.I forgot to take the chicken out of the freezer early this morning so it hadnt defrosted enough for me to make the pie before I went out. It wont take long and I know James said he will probably be late in so no rush.

The Pheasant is at Keyston Frank, just up the A14. The Falcon we went to yesterday is at Fotheringhay. A much longer drive.

I am sorry that 3 of you dont know where your children are. I cant imagine what that must be like. It is always sad when this kind of thing happens.I am just thankful not to be in the same postion .But you never know .One day you may get a call . Look at Simon. After such a long time he is back in Franks life :-D. So it can happen.

Right I need to get my apron on and chefs hat and getting cooking.

Hope Mandy and Colin are alright <3

I love snowdrops Frank especially on mass, they rate up there with bluebell on mass too. I have bluebells but no snowdrops, maybe I'll buy some this year now there's hardly anything for me to do in the garden except weeding and grass cutting, although OH normally cuts the lawns. That was nice of you to make Ros a cuppa.

So it's a virus you've got, drinking plenty and taking paracetamol should help, other than that there's not much else you can do except waiting it out. Hope it doesn't last to long for you. OH is saying he's cold all the time now, it's like an oven in here so I can't see how he can be cold. At least his coughing is starting to subside and his back is on the mend, so it's just a point of waiting for his scan appointment and other test appointments to come through now. The doctor said it could take up to a month.
Has Ros heard when she's having her operation yet Frank? Hope she doesn't have to wait to long. Your meal sounds nice, not sure what we're having yet as OH doesn't seem to have much of an appetite either at the moment. He said his throat is very sore so is having soup when he feels up to it.

I'm going to go through all my shoes and boots soon, I've got quite a few so need to sort them out and put them in shoe boxes to keep them clean. I found some old shoe boxes I had laying around so I'll see if any of those are the right size. I've got more than I thought I had. Just watching a bit of TV at the moment with OH and Sandra. The hoovering is all done so it's nice to relax for a while. We're watching Bondi Rescue and they've found a dead shark which they are burying on the beach, they called it FRANK lol ;-) ;-)

Sorry Jane, I was thinking of the Pheasant down the A 605 Can't think of the village. I know both you and I have had excellent meals there in the past.

Sorry Gill I thought Sandra was your youngest. The doctor said there is this horrible virus going around, and said the same as you Jane. He was going to leave out some Linctus for me but as I am on max strength Co-codemol,he didn't think I should have it. But said I could take an extra two at night.

I couldn't wait any longer for Ros to make up her mind about dinner tonight. So I took the bull by the horns, and got out some lovely thick Pork Chops. For a change I have done onions and mushroom, boiled two bags of rice and will add that to peas and the onions and mushrooms. If she fancies any Roast potato's there are some in the oven, from yesterday.

Yes Gill, we have all our bulbs showing through, in the side bed in the back we get a beautiful display of snowdrops.

Ros is in now, completely KNACKERED. so I am going to make her a COT.

What a nuisance having your laptop playing up Jane. Hopefully it'll be sorted for you soon. Good luck at the docs.

It's our youngest daughter Frank. So the doctor doesn't think it's an infection, it amazes me how they can tell if all they're doing is speaking to you on the phone. Going by my OH the doc said if he was coughing as much as he was over a 5 day period then they like to check the chest themselves. Has it been 5 days yet, maybe you could make an appointment to see the doc if it's been that long. Drink plenty like Jane said and try and rest when you can. I noticed this morning that we've got some crocuses flowering in one of our pots, I'd put it behind the greenhouse for the winter, so now I've added it to the front of the border, it looks pretty and like you said Frank, more like spring.

Well, I found a small box to finish off some more books so they are in the right place now. I did have a bit of trouble boxing up the things I took out of the small box as I had other things to go with it and the bigger box wasn't quite big enough, luckily I had a bit of space in another box I did the other week so the spare book went in there instead.

Going to grab a sandwich now I haven't eaten all day with being so busy in the garden and with my books.

Afternoon All
My lap top is not behaving and it is difficult to do anything much on it at the moment. Chris is waiting for a new Hard Disk/Drive? for it .It should be here today. So if I vanish for a day or so dont worry .It will be being sorted.

We had a nice lunch yesterday at the FALCON ,not the Pheasant Frank :-).It was very quiet there with only one other table of 4.The food was fine but the service was so slow :-S. Most unusual for there.
I had Physio in the morning and have another appointment for next Thursday. Drs this afternoon. Its all go lol

Frank, plenty of liquids and Paracetamol is probably all you need at the moment for your nasty cold and cough.Hopefully you wont need antibiotics like Gill's OH.

Im glad his tablets are working now Gill. He must be feeling a bit better now.

The laptop has just gone off and come back on again !!!!!! I think I will post this swiftly now just incase it vanishes. I'll BBL after the Drs.

No call from the Doctor. I don't know why I bothered. Still coughing, but my throat isn't so sore. He has just RUNG. SORRY DR. !! Told me to carry on with what I am doing, and if it doesn't improve to let him know.

Ros is in the Garden, trimming the bushes around the arch. and sweeping up all the leaves between the patio pots.

I just asked Ros what she wanted me to get out for dinner tonight. She has told me to leave it, and she will sort it. I still haven't got any appetite, so I won't want much any way.

Gill, I remember the trouble you had with your eldest daughter, but thought it had sorted itself out. Glad that Glynn is feeling a bit better and the antibiotics are working for him.

Nice sunny afternoon here after a heavy frost this morning. I have noticed a pair of Blue Tits are showing interest in the nesting box in the front garden, and he doves are in and out of the big pine tree. So it looks like Spring is on i'ts way.!!!

Gillx Report 30 Jan 2018 12:37

Afternoon all

Quite warm here today, the sun was out but it's gone a bit cloudy now. I've spent some time in the garden again pulling parts of the hedge bits under the gap at the bottom of the fence. There is a 6 inch gap and all the branches with leaves were poking through. They go brown and dusty over time which gets on my chest so I wanted to throw them away before they got to that stage.

The garden bin from next door was emptied today with all the hedge cuttings in from the other week so that's all gone now and I put the rest of the cutting in her bin after it was emptied, so our bin is empty now. It was kind of her to let us use her bin as we have to pay a yearly charge for garden bins around here and we didn't do it. Normally OH takes our rubbish down the tip but he's still under the weather so it's saved him a job now.

It sound like you have got what OH has Frank, I noticed in the night he was sleeping sitting up. Maybe you have a chest infection and need some antibiotics. OH's are starting to work now.

You and Mel aren't on your own where children are concerned. Michelle stopped talking to us in 2016 and then moved. Mum gave me her address but apparently Michelle didn't want us to have it so it's rendered useless to us. No doubt she'll move again at some point and then we'll never know where she is.

I had a restful day yesterday, just taking a quick look at my family tree, so today I must get on with my sorting as it's collecting dust now, it's been on our chest of draws that long. I think I'm going to have to empty some of the small boxes I have in a big wardrobe so I can use them in the single wardrobe. We are having problems trying to find boxes small enough to fit in there. This way I can use the slightly bigger boxes in the bigger wardrobe and be able to finally sort everything out. I bit more work but at least it'll be finished.

Hi Mel, I managed to get a couple of 10 minute naps during the night. But with this blooming cough i wasn't easy. Ros popped hr head round the door every time she went to the loo.

I put a call into the doctors at 8.30 asking him to ring me later, he might be able to give me something to take the inflammation away from my throat.

Needless to say I won't be going anywhere today. Ros got me an EGG SARNIE this morning. I managed to eat that.

Simon has just rung to say he's off to work, three hours overtime today. Sally is on four nights on the trot.So she is in bed sleeping. (LUCKY THING) LOL

Very frosty morning all,

Everywhere as white as snow but its frosy. Suns shining skies blueand its cold cold cold.

So sorry to read you have had a bad night Frank and I hope you got to sleep in the chair in the end. I find I am better sitting up if I have a cough too. I have one of those V pillows which I use in bed if I need to raise myself up a bit. You sound like your daughter is as bad as my son as I don't know where he is either.

Another Donkey Day has come around again........... they seem to be coming much quicker lately. I really don't know where we put it all. I must get some crofters thick veg soup today as I forgot it last week and had to use chicken instead.

Good morning to you all.

I am a very poorly boy. I only ate half my dinner Sunday, and didn't eat a thing yesterday. This cold has certainly taken a good hold on me.I tried to stay up last night, but had to give in and was in bed by 9.00 pm I laid awake coughing until 1.00 am and decided to come and sit in th lounge.I put the heating on. Got a bottle of cough mixture and a glass of water . I have had three doses of cough mixture so far. I am better sitting up, than laying down. So won't go back to bed to disturbe Ros.

Plus it is SIXTY YEARS TO THE HOUR since my DAD died in 1958. I know I had this on my mind all weekend, but not to he point that I can't sleep. It's also my DAUGHTERS 54 Birthday today. Wherever she is.
Time for COT and I will try to sleep sitting up, just hope I don' fall of the chair LOL

See you at a later time. Sleep tight !!!xx

The hinged spoon things were for putting tea in and you dangled it in the teapot so you did'nt get leaves in your cup when pouring the tea. You did'nt need a strainer then.

Ann I think I have seen an advert on the tv for that film.

I did pasta tonight with mushrooms, toms, leek and that Bernard Matthews turkey ham cut up and all in a nice cheese sauce. Mixed coloured pasta. It was delish.

Well we haven't had any rain yet which is good as the fields still have lying water in places. Yes it was the Nick Parks film who does Wallace and Grommitt Mel. It's been advertised on the telly with clips. We usually love what he does but not so much this time. Did you find your email? There's a bit at the top of my email page that says 'A-Z' and if you click on it it lists your emails alphabetically which might help you find it if you haven't yet. You can click it back to date order again after.

Good luck at the dentist's tomorrow Anne and I hope it stays dry for the walk. You have just reminded me again about the caddy tea spoons Mel mentioned. I remember having them years ago but don't know what happened to them now. The one's I remember were short like scoops and one had something like a coat of arms in enamel on the stem. They were quite fancy like you say Anne. I remember mum having something like a small perforated, hinged ball, but I haven't a clue what that was for!

I went to Nuneaton this afternoon to look at new specs. I've whittled it down to 2 possibilities, but will take OH for a second opinion next!
