Mel Fairy Godmother Report 24 Feb 2018 17:08

I would have to go early on Monday to get back for a doc's appointment at 3.50pm. I am so pleased little Max was found and returned to the fold. I bet they were so pleased to see him. Perhaps he has learnt a lesson. :-)

I have been taking patterns this afternoon. It takes me ages if I want to get them right. I made some oak leaves a while ago and the two I have sewn the veins in I could'nt find the pattern for!! I have all the others so I don't know where they went. They were on paper and the others I have cut out on some thickish perspex but these two I have done on thinner perspex so were easier to cut out.

Frank you should be well set up now you have all thoses books. You must do as the others say and have a word with the doc about your sleepers. They have changed a lot of things for the better over the 14 years since your stroke so perhaps there is a better one out there just waiting for you to come along. So do as we ALL say please.
Fumph has spoken............ (my dad used to say that)

I have had my cuppa so I am now going back to my felting.

Crocketing around is walking like a old crock!! like you might when you've just got out of an arm chair after a sleep, owing to mature years!! Yes pickling is really not doing anything, well nothing useful particularly on a nice warm day!!
Just got the washing in, it'll go on the 'clothes horse' and air in front of the log burner tonight and be put away in the morning !
We've burnt a great deal of timber this year, but it's certainly kept us warm! Lucky we don't have to buy it!! Have just seen the weather forecast for next week! I think your shopping should be safe Mel, on the other hand Monday might be a better day to go!

Poor little thing must have been terrified Mandy.A little nip would be nothing for the man who found him.It is always so good to hear a good ending when it comes to a lost pet. Lets hope he doesn't decide to run off again . He will be on the naughty step now and grounded LOL.
The Sciatica is not too bad again today Mandy. Still there of course but nothing like the pain I had the day before yesterday.

Chris just went to go out to the Summerhouse and found a headless baby black bunny outside the back door :-( THOMAS !!!!! :-| :-| :-| :-| There has always been a few black rabbits in the top field at the top of our road but I never seen one down as far as us. I am wondering because of all the work going on in the field with pipe work etc and the school that was built 3 years ago whether they have moved over to this side of the road. I think Thomas must have found a warren as he was desperate to go out last night .I didnt let him but then he had me awake at 3.40 am eager to get out then. I managed to stay in bed until just before 5 and then had to let him go as he was being a right pain in the neck. Hunting season has begun :-( :-(
The moon is out !! It looks quite odd up there in the blue sky. I think the wind is picking up a bit now too.The trees are blowing around quite a bit.

I have just cut up a Kilo of Stewing steak into little strips and put in the freezer .So that will be for 2 meals for the slow cooker. There were some good bargains on the meat counter in Tesco today. Brisket was 25% off too. I was wanting some Chicken Breasts with skin on. They are so hard to get now. It is just Free Range Chicken Breasts with skin.Everything else is skinless other than thighs and legs. Washing in the tumble drier,so now I am going to sit down near the fire and see what there is on TV.

Frank are next doors sheets still out ? :-D

Oh i didn't see you there Jane ,by the time i read the posts and then i'm slow in typing there can be another post to read .

Yes i think they were so relieved to get Max back ,it was the worry of him going near the fast moving A47 :-0 plus being out in the freezing cold all day he is only still a baby , i think he nipped the hand of the chap who picked him up he was so scared but the chap said he didn't mind at all ,he was just glad he got him safely back to his family .

Afternoon all,

Beautiful day out the sun is lovely and warm through the glass but step outside and it's icy cold with the wind .
We nipped to Morrisons today to get extra milk and some other bits as i can see the shops being busy on monday with people stocking up ready for the snowy days to come .
We also bought the fruit for the grandchildren and some fruit and veg for us .

Keep in warm Gill and i hope this bug soon passes and you soon feel better, just hope you don't pass it on to OH and Sandra ,these bugs do seem to go through the house ,our sickness bug lasted a couple of days .

Frank i was going to say do you think your body has got use to the sleeping pills ,have you ever had them changed ? as Liz said might be worth having a word with the doctor to see if you can try some thing else as all these sleepless nights must be getting you down .
You'll be away now with your reading after getting those books .

Yes you'll need plenty of logs in Liz with this bad weather we're supposed to be getting , does Cas like the heat of the wood burner ?

That's good you can get some bits and pieces to keep you going from your local shop Mel, hopefully the bad weather won't reach you early in the week so you can get your shopping on Tuesday as usual .

How's the Sciatica today Jane ?hope it's one of your better days and not so painful.

Afternoon All

Oh dear Gill.I am sorry to see you now have the sick bug :-(. Lots of little sips of water and plenty of rest and hopefully it will soon be out of your system .

Frank, I would suggest the same as Liz and see if having your sleepers changed might make a difference. It just might do the trick. Sorry to hear that Martines MIL is near the end. It must be very difficult for having to be there all the time and also trying to get Brian there. I hope that Martine does accept a little help if she needs . It is not easy for some people to do that though as they hate to think it is Charity. We have helped my Sister out in the past and she felt ashamed in away ,but was very grateful. I think we would all be willing to help someone out . If we can then we should :-D

Crocketing around is a new one on me Liz. I havent heard that one before. The same as Pickling About :-D. Chopping the wood will keep Ian warm this afternoon and with a nice bowl of hot soup inside him.
Bright sunshine here too but with a really cold nip in the air. I actaully wore a coat this morning when I went out. I did have to take it off though in Tesco. I made the most of my shop and bought extra milk, potatoes ,veg, cat food etc. The snow is forecast from sometime on Monday but the worst seems to be from Tuesday into Wednesday.
James will have to take Chris's car to work as it is far more suitable for driving in snowy and icy conditions.
Mel I dont think snow is forecast your way is it? I could be wrong though. You just never know do you.

Mandy that was such lovely news about the lost little dog called Max. His owners musy have been worried sick , and then over the moon when he was found.

I have updates waiting to be done on the lap top now so will get that done.So BBL

Frank, it might be an idea to have a chat with your GP about your insomnia and maybe get your pills changed. It could be that your system is used to them after all this time and they've become ineffectual? I get this with my BP pills, now and again, and I have to have change them.
We've got to take Cas for her yearly booster jabs next week, that is if the weather allows!! If not it'll have to wait, must write it on the board though so as not to forget!
OH is crocketing around!! better serve up that soup to de crock him!!

Frank Report 24 Feb 2018 12:06

Liz, I am on sleeping tablets from the doctors. I have been taking them since my stroke 14 years ago next month. They are to ry to slow down that part of my brain that was affected. I m beginning to wonder if they are any good after all these years. I am so use to it now, I don' know what is is to have TWO good nights on the trot. LOL LOL

|Jus had my 6 books turn up. Wha a great selection and all for £2.00. There are hard backs in there too.

I have been to the bins, and that wind is enough to cut you in half, so I am undecided if I want to walk to the pub for the football.

OH is out on his tractor and trailer this morning bring down some timber to cut for logs! that'll be this afternoons job! I must get some soup on for lunch.
Very wise about the shopping Frank! We have to go the dentist on Monday so will get any additional shopping then.
Just done the bird bath, they need to drink as well as bath.
Sorry you have such trouble sleeping Frank. Have you tried taking Quiet Life? I find its very good.

Suns out well here and you can feel the warmth in it but the blooming wind is so bitterly cold. I have to go up the hsop and get some bits and the paper as it did'nt help without my car last week I did'nt do a big shop. Oh said I am not aloud out shopping if the weather turns really bad so I shall have to get some stuff at the shop again.

My hands were cold even in my gardening gloves this morning when I went to the chickens. The water was frozen in their drinkers and their house needs a clean out and bantams too.

Not another bad Frank. Have you tried playing cards on the pc? I find that will make me sleepy sometimes.

Frank Report 24 Feb 2018 10:23

Good morning Gill and Mel, Halo to all the other sweeties xx

I am considering getting a job as a shelf stacker at Tesco's on NIGHT SHIFT. Then I will be able to sleep during the day !!

Last night I couldn't keep my eyes open at 9.30 so got tucked into bed. Still awake when Ros came in 12.30. Got up and had a COT and read until 3.00 am. Slept until 7.30. Stayed in bed trying to doze off again, with no luck, so got up.

Poor you Gill, I hope you feel a bit better after another sleep. xx

Mel, that reminds me I must check the bird baths down the bottom of the garden. They still need to bath even in the cold weather.

Martine rang last night. Her MIL is in hospital. It appears she is on her last legs. She has (Marine) been spending nights by her bedside. Brian her OH is so incapacitated he is unable to be any help. Martine tries to take him to see his mother during the day in a wheelchair. She has had to take time off work and she doesn't get paid. With only a bit of Social for Brian, they will be struggling to make ends meet. I will tell Ros to offer to help out financially, for a week or so. IF SHE WILL LET US.

Well I have opened up a "BEES NEST" with burial etc. arrangements. But it has to be done, as we are not (well some of us) getting any younger. !!!!

I have told Ros to get extra milk, bread and whatever she thinks we might need, as next week promises to be a bit of a Bu@@er. Could get 4 " of snow Mon/Tues. I don't want her out driving in those conditions.

I rang Harvey last nigh o tell him not o come up next week if the weather is bad, so he is going to pop up this afternoon to measure up for the pipes and brackets he will need.

Plenty of birds around this morning, so I must go out and feed them. I have a big drum of meal worms in the conservatory, that will go down well !!!

Take care if you are out and about, and keep warm and safe. xxx

Oh dear Gll, poor you it's just one bug on top of another! Let's hope it doesn't last too long!
Another beautiful morning here but very cold! Merlin has gone out looking bushy!!
Talking of fish fingers, that's what were having for supper tonight, chips and peas!! We haven't had them for ages so it'll be a change!
Better tackle the dust this morning! that's the problem with the sun it shows every mark including windows!

Morning all.

Sorry to hear you are ill again Gill, Be pampered over the weekend by the family and have a nice rest. I think you do too much and I hope its just tiredness and not another bug to go around the rest of the family. Wishing you better. <3

Another frosty morning here and now the suns outs so it will soon burn it off. I see the birdbath is completely empty. Oh must have cleaned it out when he washed my car with the pressure washer. There was water in it the other day so I must fill it up today as they will need it.

I've been looking at the face book page where a little Border collie Max had got out ,he's been loose for over eight hours ,lots of sightings of him and so many people out there trying to find him ,he was heading for the A47 !!! but because he's so young he didn't even know his name so it was hard to get him to come to them ,but he's just been caught and is back with his family ,i can sleep tonight now .

Cold out now and i think i can see a bit of frost .

I always think of you now Jane since you told us you lived there. There is some beautiful scenery around there and lovely beaches by the looks of things. We arn't really beach people but its nice to have a walk along the beach when oh's family come down and Stephanie loves it.

Still no Anne, I do hope she's not feeling too poorly. Thinking of you Anne and hoping you'll be back with us soon <3
Yes Jane, all these decisions, I've told L that if we get too debilitated to find a home for us. I know, what home!!! I just can't see being looked after by family even with carers, it would be such a burden for them. MND! whew, not a happy thought! You're right though, it does need to be seriously sorted. I think a bog standard C of E funeral service. Need to keep your options open as you never quite know, and by the time you do, it could be too late!!!! :-D. Lovely to see the church, even if it was tinged with sadness.

Bunnyboo

Bunnyboo Report 23 Feb 2018 18:59

Only ashes Jane so I think we will be able to snuggle in, at least alongside!! They're not going to get away from us that easily!!!
We've just had our supper, gold plated lamb chops (the price was extortionate!!) smash potato and mushrooms. It was yummy though!
Merlin has grown the thickest coat I think he's ever had. This time of year OH always feels his ears last thing before we go to bed, and runs his hands underneath his top coat just to make absolutely certain that he is warm enough. We don't want to put a coat on him, but we would if we had to.

Jane

Jane Report 23 Feb 2018 18:06

Liz, I did chuckle there .I hope there is enough room in with Mum and Dad for all you lot plus dog :-D :-D
Oh I dont like doing this thing. It is something called My Decisions.org and it is all questions as to what you would want should you either become incapacitated with Dementia, Illness such as MND ,Or other degenerative illness like that, terminal illness etc.. I started to do it but have decided I need to sit down now and having a good think about what I would want to happen to me in such circumstances. So over the weekend I will get my head down and do it. I havent seen what Chris has put on his form yet.

What a happy subject eh! But it will be good for Hannah and James to know our wishes . The next thing will be want we want funeral wise,Organ donation etc. It is good that these days it is much easier to discuss these issues with family rather than just a few years ago Death would not be talked about at all and just brushed aside.

Frank, I did see the dog Bramble with that 7ft log :-D :-D :-D. She looked so pleased with herself didnt she. All the other pics too of the other dogs with their finds.
Ruth Langsford absolutely loved them didnt she.

The Coroner (programme) today had a funeral in the Church where Chris and I got married :-D. The same Church where I was a choir girl,Hannah and James were Christened and where my Dad's funeral service was. It felt a bit strange seeing that coffin there today in exactly the same place as where dad was :-( Brought back happy but sad memories too.It is such a lovely old church there right on the top of the cliff over looking Wembury Bay.

These Fish fingers I had yesterday and today were 'Youngs' Panko Breadcrumb Haddock fish fingers. Lovely big bits of fish and very tasty too. Mandy I could never eat a fish finger that wasnt either Cod or Haddock. Yesterday was the first time in a VERY long time that I had them. I just got a sudden craving. Hence the pregnancy :-D :-D.. Saying that I never had any cravings when I was pregnant.

Gill it was sad to hear that Leon from Gogglebox passed away before Christmas. Was his wife called June or Joan? I did remember though that the last time I saw him on the programme I thought he didnt look too well.He was looking thinner and a bit frail,so it couldnt have been long after that that he must have died.

It is just almost dark now. The last of the light has almost gone. Thomas it out hunting. He had something today and left bloody remains outside the back door :-S. I hope he isnt out too long as i dont want to have to keep opening the door to see if he is waiting to come in.It's too cold. This when I wish we could have a cat flap .

Cauliflower Cheese tonight(Frank :-D) with Saute Potatoes and Youngs Basa Fillets with a Lemon and Herb Crust. That is fish twice for me today !!!(unheard of)
James is off to Jess later but he is still at work. I have a cottage pie for him.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 23 Feb 2018 17:47

I have been busy doing nothing as usual. I keep finding I have to feed the chickens or put the washing on the line and then its time to take it off again and corn the chickens after washing up the lunch things. I never seem to have any time to myself lately. It must be me. :-(

I want to make something and can't decide what I want to do as well. Still I did manage to make the hog this week. I think I will give up housework over the weekend and do some sewing.

I have so many eggs this week that I had to ring Em and see if she would have three dozen this week. She said she would take however many I want to bring her as she can give some to her mum and her sister would have some too.
