Morning all,

Gosh you are all early birds this morning! I am usually the last one in and the first one in the morning.

It sounds from your post like you have the same weather as I have. Wind and lashing rain a right Murky Monday.

Oh is waiting for a delivery to arrive. Its the loft flooring boards and sosme roofing rails he is using to stack stuff on across the supports.

Gill can't you give oh a nice hot water bottle for his back. If a hot bath helps perhaps that would.

I see Thomas is back to his tricks catching a nice warm breakfast. Naughty boy...... You know you will never break him of this habit Jane. I am please you're feeling better this morning after being sick yesterday. Maybe it was the shock of finding that the raod is still going through next to you.

Morning Frank and All

Wet and horrible here too this morning Frank. In fact the rain woke me up in the night.
Thomas is just having his breakfast under the hedge after trying to bring it in(yep a rabbit :-S )
I spent 20 minutes erlier trying to get through to the surgery to make an appointment. But gave up and will try again tomorrow. I think Monday mornings are always a very busy time.

So you had a good night last night Frank. You must feel better for that . Hope you can have a bit more to eat today.
I am going to have a shower and wash my hair now. So see you later.

Good morning to you all,

I sat up to watch Vera then the recording of the Coronation. What a very inyeresing programme that was. If you haven't seen it, try to catch it sometime.

I didn't get to bed until about 11.30 but soon feel asleep, only waking at 4.00 for the loo. and slept on agin till 7.00. when I got up. I have left Ros to sleep in.

At the moment I am restricting myself to 4 beers a day, I feel comfortable with this, so will see how it goes. I know my food intake in down, as is my weight, but I feel happy with that. With no exercise I am not hungry, and I can't eat for eating sake.

I must have missed your pos about the house next door being knocked down Jane. That's a bit of a blow, after sinking it was further down the road,

Ann, another saying from the youth of today is "LATERS" and clinch their fists and tap each other. What that is all about I do not know. ;-) ;-) ;-) I think we are just getting old. !!!

I hope Glyn is feeling a little better Gill. Have you tried those "HEAT PATCHES" on his back. I find them very good as does Jane. It might be worth a try. Anyway give him my regards. As for you, I just don't want you getting yourself all upset over what has happened in the past. I do hope it can be sorted, and you and the family come out of it alright.xxx

Another lovely day in PARADISE. RAIN AND WIND, which they say will continue throughout the day. With a promise of SNOW on the high grounds. Great place to live at the moment. Carolyn and John Flew back to the sunshine yesterday, and won't be back until 14th March. It's alright for some !!!!

It's okay Jane, OH isn't doing anything at the moment. There is no way he could do anything. I've been doing it all as he can't even manage to put his coat on by himself. I've run him lots of baths as that seems to help while he's in there, but unfortunately as soon as he gets out of the bath the pain returns. He has a twisted spine from a hit and run accident as a child so any back problems are a lot worse for him. Normally if he hurts his back the pain eases after a while, but he said it's the same as it was the day he did it, three days ago. All he did was cough and his back started hurting. He's been told if he has pins and needles in his legs then he's to go straight back to the hospital. They couldn't x-ray him as the x-ray department was shut with it being Sunday. I'm not letting him do anything at the moment, it's not worth taking the risk.

I'm getting on with things here and earlier I put some lovely pictures (photo's) that I got off the internet years ago into a frame I bought. I had to cut the pictures down to size and arrange them as there were 9 places for them to go. The pictures are really colourful and match a light up canvas picture I've got. I wanted to put the pictures in the frame around 4 years ago but couldn't find them, so now I've found them that's finally done.

Sorry to hear how bad Ros's back is Frank, I remember you telling us about her slip disc but didn't realise how bad things were for her. I'm hoping it is muscular with OH and not anything to do with his spinal cord. It sounds like you've lost a lot of weight. How are you feeling with cutting down on your drinking, I haven't read many posts so I don't know how things are going for you? I hope things are still heading in the right direction.

We've still got a few things from Christmas too Mel and have just found yet more chocolate, although I think they may be all eaten tonight ;-) ;-) It sounds like you're getting there sorting out your loft, have you much more to do? Finding all that wool was good as it saves you having to buy more if you need some for your crafting or any other projects you fancy doing.

You did make me laugh Ann with your comment on asking the men what time and where when they said see you later. You are funny ;-) :-D :-D Pleased to hear you are feeling better after your bout of illness.

Sorry Jane to hear about the bungalow being knocked down and the road going next door to you and you were so chuffed when you thought they were going to move it further down. Is there any way you can put in a complaint? You never know it might delay things long enough for them to reconsider moving it after all if it's going to take about the same time to sort out the complaint as it would to get the planning permission. I hope they change their minds again and move it down the road from you.
It sounds like the Chinese meal really didn't agree with you. Fancy a doctor not being very good around sick, at least he asked if you were okay and got you a wet flannel, even if he was looking the other way. Pleased you felt better shortly afterwards and was able to go back to sleep. Pity about the meal you made though.
I enjoyed Dancing on Ice tonight and like you preferred it without the commentator that was on it last week.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 14 Jan 2018 18:39

Ooooo Jane I hope your not getting what James had! Poor you I hope you feel better tomorrow.

How awful that they have decided to knock down next door to you again. You were so relieved when they said they were going to do it further up the road and now they have changed their minds again. I wonder why they did but perhaps its as you say and they would have to wait a while for new planning permission.

Yes more out of the loft today and taken over and burnt. More great big curtains and their pelmets. More magazines and even mums portable telly for her bedroom came down. It was a black and white one so it tells you how old that was. He did find me loads of wool which I thought was in one of the cases up there but when we opened those they were both empty. This lot was in a big plastice bin liner. Its now in a plastic box and there's some good colours there too.

O Gill poor Glynn getting stuck in the pharmacy. What on earth was the girl taking off the shelves? It does sound like his back trouble is muscular and not a slipped disc. I hope the meds give him some relief and tell him to rest a bit and not wear himself out.

I hav'nt touched my craft work today at all with oh asking me to go through bags and stuff and now I have time to do some I don't feel like soing it and feel very tired. I know if I went and layed down I would drop off to sleep and that won't do.

Think I may go and have a nice shower and then find something for tea thats quick and easy.

We finished the last of the Christmas cake this afternoon with our coffee and tea so thats another bit of Christmas gone now.

I can't believe we are two weeks into the new year all ready and the nights are drawing out nicely now.

Jane

Jane Report 14 Jan 2018 18:38

Frank, that is good you managed to eat a good amount of dinner. You might sleep better too with something in your tummy :-D

Mandy I cant believe Lewis is 3 already !!!. He is going to love his Toot Toot Garage.
I remember James loving toy Bin Lorries and Tip up Trucks. You will have to send us a pic of Lewis as I dont think we have seen him for ages. Birthdays seem to come around very quickly in your family LOL

James had one of these huge all singing and dancing coffee machines for his birthday from Jess and her Mum. It can be turned on by Alexa and some remote control. But I dont know where it is going to go as it isnt going to fit under the top cupboards in the kitchen.(plus Chris already has his there). Lovely present but they havent thought it through :-S It must have cost an awful lot too.

Another dismal day here. Not quite as dark as yesterday and the day before but just blooming gloomy. Chris says there might be a chance of a bit of snow in the week ! Maybe Wednesday .I cant see it being as bad as it was the other week.

I need to ring the Cattery tomorrow to check what day I have Thomas booked in. We are going to London on the 22nd which is the Monday and I just cant think if he is going on the Sunday or the Monday morning.

Dancing on ice now. Has Holly Willerby(sp) lost a lot of weight? She seems to be looking quite thin. I am so glad that the dreadful commentator from the first week has pulled out .He was terrible. Vera tonight :-D

Evening All,

Your OH needs to not overdo it lifting and moving heavy things now Gill. His back will get better more quickly then. Fancy him being locked in the pharmacy till the girl was taken away. :-0 As you say, the year hasn't been good for you up to now.

Frank, your weight has dropped a bit hasn't it, but it's bound to when you are eating less. I was thinking that you could probably slip into those postman's trousers now that were too tight for the 'Tunnel' celebrations a few years ago!! :-D :-D Your dinner tonight sounds lovely so I hope you are able to enjoy some. Another thing I don't like in shops is when (mostly young men!) say 'see you later' as you leave. WHAT! Many's the time I wish I had the nerve to turn and say 'OK what time and where' ;-) lol. Their faces would be a picture wouldn't they! lol.

I think I must have had a bug the last few days as I feel soooo much better today, not quite right, but almost. :-)

FIL boarded a lot of our loft when he was in his 80s. We had to peel back some of the thick insulation though as it was way above the joists. We ought to get some spacers to build the boards up really so the rest of the insulation could go back underneath. We fixed a rail up to hang some clothes up there and they are in those zip up bags like the dry cleaners use. It must be nice and bright in your loft Mel with the neon light. :-)

We are wondering whether to go to the cinema tomorrow to see Churchill as it has good write ups. It's more to OH's interest than mine, but I do enjoy some of the films I think I won't! I'm a bit bothered how cold it might be and OH has already said he is stuffing cotton wool in his ears for the adverts!! lol. If we go, I shall take the earplugs Mel sent me as I've found them now. :-) We both want to see the new Nick Park film, Early Man when it comes round.

Jane Report 14 Jan 2018 18:08

Gill, poor OH getting locked in the pharmacy. I bet all he wanted was to just get home after his trip to A&E. Hopefully it is just a muscle strain and not a disc problem. He will have to tryt and not do too much heavy stuff at the moment and stick to any light packing.

Frank, even if you dont eat all your dinner just a bit of it will do you good. It does sound nice and I bet it smells good too :-D Even the Cheese Sauce LOL

We have roast beef ,roast tatties, yorkshires, and roast carrots,Artichokes and Parsnips.
Sprouts.
Last nights dinner was a non starter . The Lamb Shanks were a disaster and so tough I couldnt even get the meat of the big bone. So that was binned and we ordered a Chinese which was delicious BUT at 1.30am I woke and was so so so sick :-S :-S
I am normally fine with the Chinese from this takeaway and Chris and I ate exactly the same so I dont know why I was so ill. Once it was all up I was fine and able to go back to sleep again. Poor Chris isnt good when it comes to sick LOL .He was standing behind me as I was on my knees with head down the loo,and kept asking if I was ok. He was probably looking the other way :-D. I just said I would be fine and if he could just give me a wet flannel to mop my sweaty face he could go back to bed.I said I would shout if I needed him. I think he was quite relieved :-D

Bad news last night. I heard that the Bungalow next door is now still going to be demolished and the road put in. It seems the developers changed their minds about putting the road in a few doors down. Most likely because of the time it would take to put in new planning permission. I am totally gutted :-(

Frank I hope that your sister chest trouble can be cleared up.I have heard of several people whose chest infections have turned into a Pneumonia .These bugs have to go soon !!!. I expect her son is looking forward to getting away for a few days to see the Northern Lights.

I am wondering now where Thomas goes all day. He came in a little while ago all soft and fluffy with no bits of grass or leaves that are normally attached.I am sure he does his hunting thing first thing in the morning. But to be out for so many hours and coming home so clean make me think he might have been visiting someone along the road .
I would love to know :-D

Potatoes need turning.

Frank Report 14 Jan 2018 18:04

Yes Mel, I managed some dinner tonight. I think I ate at least half of what I put on my plate. Ros cleared hers s usual.

I think it's a new cover on the old chair. She has finished it this afternoon and has sewn in her name and 2018 into the hessian, that won't be seen, until such time when it is needing recovering again. Who knows it might be a 100 years from now.

I doubt that your OH has slipped a disc Gill. If he had he wouldn't be moving about. When Ros did hers over 40 years ago She couldn't move for months and was in a plaster cast from under her boobs down to her bottom. Finally having the disc removed in Leeds by a recommended Surgeon. Since then she has had a de-compression on scar tissue and two other MAJOR Operations. She is in constant pain, and the specialist's have told her there is nothing more that can be done. She is on MORPHIEN(sp) patches every few days, and will be on them for the rest of her life. I certainly hope Glen improves in the bear future. xx

Another Lazy day, reading the paper, cooking and preparing the meal and now watching David Attenborough, before D O Ice starts about now.

Hope you are all well, and enjoyed your day. xx

Evening all,

Another dull day here so we've been in front of the fire and the television all the afternoon .

Gill i'm so sorry to read that you have all these problems not a very happy start to the new year for you all and now poor OH hurting his back , hopefully the anti-inflammatory tablets will do the trick , as the others have said we're all here for you and as they say a troubled shared is a trouble halved <3

Nice photo of Chris in the garden being a lumberjack :-D i can see why you didn't want to go out while he was up the tree Jane .

Hope you can manage some of your meal tonight Frank ,perhaps you could do some lighter meals while you don't have much of an appetite .

OH is getting on well in the loft Mel ,ours is all boarded out makes it so much easier to walk about up there ,not that i go up but it's better for Colin or was ,he hasn't been up there since he had his hip op.

I had to smile at your neighbours antics Ann :-D it must have been funny to watch them , i expect they had a meeting to decide what action they could take :-D
That will be good if OH's cataract can be all done and dusted with so you can get away when you want ,don't know what sort of wait there is for those little op's hopefully not a long one ,glad your feeling better too.

Hope your feeling better too now Anne and that little Ruby is coming along nicely too .

Lewis is three tomorrow ,where has that time gone , he wants a bin lorry :-D he's mad about the bin lorries , we've bought him a Toot Toot Garage .

Gillx Report 14 Jan 2018 16:20

OH has just got back from the hospital, he might have a slip disc or it could be muscular, he has been given anti-inflammatory tablets and told to see his doctor on Friday. He's also got blood in his urine so that'll need checking again on Friday. When he went to the pharmacy there was a young girl taking things off the shelf and putting them in her pocket. Poor OH ended up locked inside the pharmacy until security came to take the girl away. This year seems to be going from bad to worse. I hope it gets better soon.
I said to OH he's not safe to be let out ;-)

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 14 Jan 2018 15:44

Frank I hope you manage something to eat tonight as it all sounds lovely to me.

Is the cover to cover a cushioned seat on the Bishops chair Frank? or does it cover the whole chair. We had our Bishops Chair stolen out of our little church so someone made us another one.

Frank

Frank Report 14 Jan 2018 13:44

Afternoon all,

Sorry to read of your problems Gill. As already said WE are all here to help if you need it. xx

Was awake at 4,58 am this morning, and I didn't go to bed till after 11.00 pm. I have just thought I haven't eaten properly for two days. After the meal with Ros on Friday, I left a big piece of steak Gammon and sausages. Roa packed them in paper serviettes and took them to Martine yesterday for the dogs. Didn't eat anything Friday evening. No breakfast Saturday, only a roll and salad Saturday lunchtime. NO Takeaway last night, and only two COT this morning. I hope I can eat my dinner later today.

I weighed myself this morning and I am down to 12 stone 11 lbs. The lightest I have been for years. I did get up to 14 and a half stone. I think cutting down on beer and food has a lot to do with that, and a lack of exercise . But with weather like we are having, who wants to be out walking ??

I spoke with my sister this morning. She was at the hospital on Thursday have a scan on her lungs. It seems he might have an infection in them. They won't give her any inhalers as her heart is too weak, and might cause more trouble. In one way and another she is not in the best of health. Her Son Paul is off to see the Northern Lights on Tuesday and will be back Friday. So I think she will be happier when he returns.

Ann, I think the trouble with STAFF in these places aren't taught how to treat Customers, and treat them as they would their friends and family. It seems the only places where you get "SIR or Madam" are the better class restaurants. and you have to pay for it. LOL LOL.

Mel,How big is your loft ?? I would love to have ours boarded out. But if we did, I don't think we would be able to get up and down into it anyway. So what's the point.

Chris certainly loves to get into the garden with his bonfires Jan. You are lucky to be able o burn stuff in the garden. IT IS strictly NO GO in our area. I have a Eucalyptus tree that needs to come down. It has grown so tall, with hardly any branches on it. It just an eyesore. As and when we do it, it will have to go into our green bin, unless I can find someone to take it away.

Dismal day here again. Ros is just finishing the "Bishops Chair" cover. She thought she was finished, but when they tried it on the chair, it's still a bit too small. This is due to the amount of stuffing they are using.

Roast Pork, new potato's, baby carrots, Cauli and Broccoli with roast Parsnips, Yorkshire pudding and of course CHEESE SAUCE. !!!

Don' forget Gill we are here if you need us. xxx

I don't mind 'darling' really, but don't like 'babe' or 'guy' that younger staff tend to use. Why do they say things like 'no worries' or 'no problem' when you order as well?? They are doing their job so there shouldn't be any worries or problem for the customer! lol. At least the meal was good from that huge menu Frank. I hope you start to feel a bit better soon.

I had a nice meal with Ros with the exception of the bar staff and waitress calling me "DARLING" all the time.

I haven't done a thing today, and feel totally out of salts. As you can see this is the first time I have been on here.

I haven't read the posts, and will try to read them before tomorrow.
