Back again.
I finished a four hour shift, doing the lumberjack work. Taken down another eight branches. I'm having to use the big steps, but now I am at a height that I am going to need a ladder. Ros has been hovering, holding the steps, and counting my steps back down to earth. Four more barrow loads over the tip. It seems that everybody is cutting back on hedges etc. Loadfs of stuff in the alotment tip.
Ros is fast asleep on the sofa, I have just put the meat in the oven (beef) I have choped up pots, parsnips, sweet potato, and onions to roast. The veg is Cauli, with cheese sauce (JANE) Broc, peas and carrots. Will have that about 6pm. It would have cooled down a bit by then.
Have had loads of replies from my HOT MATCHES. but it seems they are all for other Bedfords/Barkers/Broads at around the same era.
I have taken a few photo's of the "TREE" will post when I have time.
Oh for the Lido and Whipps Cross MEL, we had so many wonderful days there as children. If I remember right, the bus fare was a penny 1d and thruppence to get in, most of the time we bunked in over the fence. In the "HOT SUMMERS" that we had as kids, when we played truent from school that where we headed. The whole pool to ourselves, They never did ask why we wern't at school. :-D :-D :-D :-D
It's a lovely afternoon here, still very warm. Shorts of course. Watering to do after dinner, my they do need it (the plants)
I'm sitting here with a COLD beer, with another dozen in the fridge. So not only will I enjoy them, I will be brames and list as well.
See you later.

My goodness what a difference a little undercoat makes , it looks so much better ,you don't realise how yellow the paintwork has gone !!
Frank , i hate it when you lose all you've just typed out .
Oh Ann, see any beads you fancied ? Lots of churches are kept locked these days ,too many thieves about !! when we went to see the graves of my Gt Grandparents we were surprised to find the church open as its out in the sticks with not much round about it , but it said that its open all year round ........and its a redundant church !!!
Still hot outside ,i'am sitting here with the fan full on .

Glad you enjoyed your meal Mandy. It sounds as if your hall and stairs will be looking a treat for christmas this year...... you hit the right spot in getting hubby to get cracking on it!! :-D
I hope Jane isn't overheating at her friend's party.......can't strip off like at home!!! :-0 :-0
Pat, I think a few people have coughs lately.....hope yours soon settles. I find they always seem worse when you go to bed. My OH has always loved Icecream Soda and has a bottle in most of the summer. He has never had it with icecream on the top though.....might suggest he tries that. We used to live near the Hoy*s factory when we first moved to Leicestershire and as girls we would walk by in the summer they would have the doors wide open onto the pavement. The clatter of the bottles going around on the machines would be deafening.
Mel, is your marrow going to the harvest festival too?

Afternoon All and welcome to Sappho!
We used to look for bottles to get the money back on to pay for swimming at the nearby baths. Sign of the times, there are houses built there now.
We always have 3 games of scrabble at christmas! OH gets fed up because I take too long on my turn!! Whenever I think of scrabble I think of Wilfred Bramble playing and putting all the naughty words down!! lol
Glad the monitoring thing is finished now Fiona......it didn't sound very pleasant. Any kind of anxiety or apprehension gets the tummy churning which is the last thing you want with that kind of complaint so hopefully they will have some answers on the 31st! Hope your OH's toe isn't too painful and that he can get his shoe on!
What a lot of tree chopping is going on!! I remember dad chopping down an old apple tree and us burning it on the fire over the winter. It was vicious stuff, prone to spitting and banging and firing sparks out on the rug so we had to make sure the guard was around the fire all the time.
I took a few pics yesterday........too misty for the ones across the vale but I got a few I wanted to get of the pretty country churches near there. One village had had a church there since 676ad. It was so quiet in the area, pretty stone houses, lovely old churchyards and the churches not locked for a change!! You could even hear the loud tick tock of the clock in one. Then we came back, had brunch and OH went up to Matlock and I went to Tamworth to Hob*ycraft to look for BEADS!!!! lol :-D :-D There had been a head on collision on the A5 which is notorious for accidents so the traffic was at a standstill for a while. One car front was virtually destroyed and a wheel missing. Glad I hadn't passed by a while earlier.
Lunched out and did shopping today and now relaxing before watering later.

Afternoon everyone,
Well i think its hotter today than yesterday , got the fan going ,but its warm air that its blowing out !!! We had a lovely evening and meal last night ,the only thing was they had the doors open and it let in a few flies and Daddy Long Legs :-S
Have a lovely time at the party Jane , they've got a good day for it ,is it in the garden ?
Pat, when we decorated our bedroom we moved into the back bedroom with the airing cupboard in, i was so hot in there !!! i said to hubby this is the bedroom we move into if the winter is really cold !! i don't think i could sleep in there all year round ,too hot !!
Mel, you must have really needed the sleep to lay in until eleven !! enjoy the Harvest Festival this evening .
Fiona, my sister has had her Gallbladder removed , mind you it was a few years ago now ,but she said it was the best thing she's ever had done ,no more pain now . We've been to the tip this morning ,got rid of the old carpet from the landing ,staircase and hall, hubby's been undercoating the paintwork ,i feel we getting there now , i've been waiting so long to get this done ,hubby always seems to be busy , i nearly told him i'd get some one in to do it if he didn't pull his finger out .
I've taken the seat cover off the car seat that we have in the car for Katie , i had to get the booklet out to see how to take it off !! i hope i can work out how to get it back on now :-S Washing machines just finished .... i hope it hasn't shrunk :-S

opps!! just saw you there Mel
Unfortunatly Mel I didn't sleep all that good, I had to keep sitting up as the pain in my chest was awful, but I think its settling down now, I have not spoken to anyone recently who has had there Gallbladder out, but other friends know of people who have gone through an operation and are glad they did and are well now.
Sorry Sappho, to full of my own problems, I should have said welcome to the thread before.

Morning Jane, & Pat,
Pat, I will be overboard with happiness :-D :-D when this is all sorted out, I am exausted with all this messing about and my stomach churns every time I have to go to the hospital.
Had another rotten night , didn't get much sleep, but after going to the hospital this morning and handing in the moniter I am feeling less pain in chest , hopefully the acid chip has dropped off now , mind you I did manage some rice krispies , and at snack time I had some custard and hardly felt it going down.
the rain was pouring all night long and still coming down now, it's not cold though, OH off to the tip with some gardening rubbish, his toe is a little bruised but he is still carrying on with his normal jobs, doesn't seem to be bothering him.
Need to have a shower & wash my hair BBL

Morning All,
Did'nt wake till nearly 11am. Got up very early for a wee and it was just getting light and there was mist everywhere. OH managed to clear most of the fallen trees yesterday and I gave a little help pileing them on the bonfire and supplying many pints of orange juice.
It's our Harvest Festival tonight at 6.30pm and then the supper in the village hall at the top of our driveway. I have cut my big marrow and oh said he will bring it down from the tunnel for me. I could'nt carry it with the other stuff I had picked. There is only one way I could weigh it and thats to stand on the scales with it and without it but I threw them away!!!!!! I must take a picture of it though.
Fiona so pleased that your monitor is now over and you should have a better nights sleep now you don't have to worry about being near the recorder. I have been thinking that your problems sounded like gallbladder trouble as a friend of mine had that when I was young and she could only eat steak and salad and at the time could'nt really afford to keep buying steak and that was in our early 20's. I must say some of the treatments they have nowadays are really good and I hope it is as simple to have a small op if you do need one.
I emailed our Liz yesterday but have had no reply as yet.
Must get the washing on the line. Thats the trouble with all this gardening and tree felling, clean clothes each day and all oh's are covered in woodchips. In his pockets and his socks are like a magnet to the sawdust. I think he must fill his wellies when cutting the branches up.
Nice to see a knew name on the thread. My dad loved Tizer and we always had Tizer and orange juice at parties held at my birthday and Christmas. I only ever had orange juice as I did'nt like they way fizzy drinks would go up your nose!!

Good morning everyone.
Going to be a hot day here again.
Fiona..we saw the weather map yesterday ...Shame you have had the rain heading across...
Hope everyone feels a lot better today..I have had a cough for a few days...A niggly one...This wakes we up then I want the loo and so on.. It was so hot last night as well...We have a boiler behind our fire so we have an airing cupboard which happens to be in our bedroom..It showed 26degrees when we went to bed...
When we were in Majorca we bought some coloured crystals that you put in water.....which they then soak up..We did 3 different colours and then left them overnight..drained the excess water off this morning and then layered then in one vase...You can then add a plant or cut flowers. We thought we had better try them out .
....Just need some flowers now lol
Thank you all for the replies to do with the photo of the birds.. I had different answers...
Morning Jane...I have to pages open while I type so I can follow things through...so I can see your own here before I post this.. I used to like cream soda and still do..I put icecream on the top of the drink and use a straw..grandchildren like this as well.
Sappho..I remember taking bottles back and gettting the deposit back We used to have a van come down our street selling corona?
We also used to have gas lamps and I liked watching the man light them. Our road wasent even made up then..I was aways told until it was I couldnt wear white shoes..The things we remember.
I hope you enjoyed your meal Mandy.. I prefer Cluedo to Monopoly. I sometimes play cards on the Pc.
Jane and Kim...Im not very good with that game (scrabble ) against my hubby lol... Mandy I was also wondering what happened to Fionas monitor.
Fiona I bet you will be pleased when they have sorted this problem out.
It is already 20degrees in the shade here...Hope you all have agood day..I have nothing planned but relaxing..

Hi Frank
I go back to hospital 31st october for Acid moniter results, then they will decide if it is only acid reflux causing the problems or is it the Gallbladder, OH & I think it is the Gallblader as OH said the numbers on the recorder were mostly high which ment the the reflux valve was working ok if they were low then the valve was not working. anyway we will just have to wait and see what the hospital say in a months time.
I am going to get ready for bed, looking forward to a night sleep without having to watch where I lie in bed , had to lie close to that moniter to make sure it was working if I was to far away it kept bleeping and waking me up :-|
night Frank , night everyone xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hi All
Yes feeling much happier Jane that it's all finished,
we will have to take recorder etc over tomorrow as poor OH was outside straightning flagstones when he dropped one on his big toe, :-0 :-( it was not dropped from very high but still is painfull , I got him a bowl of cold water to stick his foot in and it hasn't swollen up very much, also made him a cup of tea which always helps, anyway 15 mins later he is back out there to finish the job, but doesn't feel like driving, there's no great rush anyway, will do it tomorrow,
weather muggy but wet,
Thought I would have a change of picture too, must have been about 5or 6 years old when this was taken :-)

I'm here again.
I lumbered this morning, took off 8 branches, had to have the big steps to get up there. All piled up on the front, to be cleared as and when.
Went down the pub at 12.30 watched Liverpool v Everton.. They opened at 7.30 this morning for the Rugby. They laid on a breakfast of Sausages, bacon, eggs, hash browns, beans, tomato's, black pudding, bread and butter. and two pints, all for a TENNER. It was still packed when I got down there at 12.45. And just as packed when I left.
Might go and cut the lawns later, if I feel like it. Ros is out clearing and planting the boarders, so had better go and see if she's allright.,
