The rain seems to staying away from us today so far at least althoughit looks as thought it could pour at any moment, in fact it has just started!!
Been to town this morning to buy things for the hols which proved to be very frustrating as we had trouble finding just what we needed but managed eventually. Have just had a loverly suprise, the man from Amazon arrived with things for hubby and he brought me a Andrea Bocelli CD which is now playing in the background. I love his voice which always reminds me of a very wet afternoon in Sorrento watching a recording of a concert. I was all alone in the hotel lounge reading when the barman turned on the television and I was lost for ages listening to his wonderful voice. Maybe one day I might get to see him in the flesh.

Jane Thanks for the information. I am still waiting for the practise nurse to ring back with the appointment details. At this rate I will have left the country before I hear anything. So pleased to hear that your thumb is improving. It's strange that you do not reolise just how much you use parts of your body until you are unable too

Frank Have a super day at the football tomorrow and hope Ros continues to feel better.
Better get back to the research now

Kim, Ann has gone to Cornwall for a week. They were stopping off somewhere on the way as her OH want's to see some footie match.

Oh dear David what a to do with your ears.Hopefully all that inflammation will settle soon with your pills and spray.

William.are your 2 Gt Grandchildren twins?Or have parents decided to just Christen a younger and older one at the same time?I can't think of the last Christening I went to .It was probably my son 25 years ago.

Good girl Mel.Now you could come and hoover right through for me.I have a poorly thumb you know and can't possibly push a hoover around ;-) ;-)
I have important things to do ,like paint my nails for the 'do' later lol

Frank it sounds like it will be a very long day tomorrow. Is this the tournament like last year when Lewis won a medal or cup or something?

I do believe the sun might be coming out :-D :-D

Hello everyone,

Sunny here today. Sorry haven't got the energy to catch up with the posts. Looks like Jane had a fall and hurt her thumb - was it on the river Jane when you went punting? Have a good night at the neighbours' party and I hope you recover soon. My two children are left-handers too.

Thank you to everyone who sent me good wishes for my health, much appreciated.

Where has Ann gone for her holiday?

Frank have a good day tomorrow at the football tournament. Hope Ros will be comfortable enough to enjoy the day.

Sheila will be in Paris by now, wow I wish :-) The time away will be good for. I wonder what they will get up to. She leads an interesting life, I love reading her stories, some funny happenings. That christening was a scream!!!

Sorry I'm not up to speed, I'll get there eventually. Have a good day all. Off to watch some tv and take the Val**m. Yes Frank, people do pay a lot of money to get that lovely floaty feeling. Unfortunately, they only gave me 4 pills to be going on with, what happens when they run out??? ;-)

Father's Day here tomorrow. Keith will be going to lunch with Joel, Miranda & Jacob, Jacob's mum and the other son. Boy I'm really on the outer at the moment ;-)

bye all 10.34 pm EST

Another leftie then Jane, mum and dad were left handed. Eldest three children right handed, and my twin sister, all the rest left handed.

Dark miserable morning here, you don't know where you are. Thank goodness I got all my jobs down outside yesterday. Going to have a restful day today.Tomorrow we are off the the all day football tournament at Lewis's football club, so need to get some strength up, as I will be pottering about a lot. Must remember to pack the chairs

David, What have you done, pushed the wax deeper into your ear, with the dropper ??? You are a disaster waiting to happen :-D :-D :-D

Madam has gone to see her friend, and get some bits for packed lunch tomorrow. She seems a lot better in herself now she knows there is nothing showing on her Cat scan results, Still suffering with the pain in the hip and leg, but with the patches, tablets and TENS machine she seems to be copeing quite well.

Morning girls
It's a cloudy one this morning.I hope it brightens up for early evening as we are going to our neighbours Golden Wedding Party and I know they are hoping to be in the garden as 40 odd people just won't fit indoors lol

Anne A Doppler test is (I think) an Ultra sound machine to check the blood flow in your legs.It may be that you need that done before the strength of stockings can be decided.

Mandy, sounds like that nail of his might come off !.Why was he wearing his trainers?? :-( :-(

Not long to wait now then Fiona.I don't know why but I had the 2nd in my mind for your results.

It seems really dark now.I hope it doesn't rain.
I can move my thumb more this morning :-D but still can't put pressure on it.
It is my left thumb, and I'm left handed :-S :-S

I must get to the bank before it shuts so >>>>>>>>>see you later

Morning All

Hi Mel, thats ok.

Gray, cloudy & wet this morning , OH went out on his bike, he would normally not go on a rainy day like this but he is desperate to get some exercise and lose a bit of weight round the old tum, we have been so busy with tidying up jobs around the house after changing the boiler that there has been no time to fit his cycle rides in.
we did the food shopping last night so he he could go out this morning.

William , i can remember when the wool was sold on Skeins and mum liked it wound into a ball for knitting , i use to hold the skeins out for her .

Mel, mum could make a good ball with the holes at each end too, you just have to get an even wined ,turning as you wound .

Poor old hubby has dropped a couple of bricks on his big toe ,its really black under the nail and the toe itself is now turning black !!!!
He had trainers on instead of his steel toecap boots .

Oh David hope your ear will feel better with the spray , your ear must be sore if its closed up like that .

Quite a tale from Sheila again , i do so love her stories , if you haven't already gone Sheila have a good weekend away .

I've been visiting Franks porcelain friend these last few hours !! trot ,trot trot !!!!

Enjoy your holiday Ann, safe journey .

Night Night all.

Oh just caught up with yor postings. So glad to hear that pat has her home back to herself now without workmen so she can do as she pleases in the mornings.

Kim sorry to hear you have been in hospital. Did they do any tests while you were there for you to have results later?? They really should have known what was wrong :-(

Sheila have a nice time away and I hope your cold clears completely soon and you enjoy your time away.

Anne my marrows are coming from my courgettes that I hav'nt cut!! Veg spaghetti I have had 8 fruits off already and there are more coming along. I can't grow things outside the tunnel now as we are overun with rabbits. One funny thing that has happened in the tunnel is that I have a little vole in there and it has bittern down the spinach plants to get to the seeds on higher stems. I don't mind that as the plants were going to be pulled up and given to the chickens anyway. I shall plant some more for the small leaves for sandwiches, lovley.......... Khol Rabi nearly ready in there too about the size of a golf ball. Celeriac doing quite well to as oh said it would'nt grow in the tunnel, they are about tennis ball size but there are only 9. Next year I may do more.

William I too had to sit with my arms out while mum wound the balls of wool. I got quite good at it too at a young age and could wind a super ball with a hole at each end. I hated knitting though as it did'nt grow quick enough for me. I remember learning to knit when I had the measles. I had yellow wool and yellow plastic needles and can see it in my minds eye now, me sitting in the big scratchy armchair in the lounge. I think we had one of those utility sweetes?? is that what they were called? It was brown in colour and very rough.

Trouble at Doctors today :-S

Last weeks attempt to syringe L ear left it very sore.
I say nuse was too rough, but that's my opinion.
Today tried to syinge R ear but nothing came out.
Didn't try same on L ear when I told her it had been sore for a week.
Had a look and said it was almost closed!

Phoned upstairs for a spare Doctor.
Saw one who examined R ear.She asked have you been putting water in in stead of oil?
I replied no,your nurse has attempted to syringe it.
She examined L ear and said it was nearly closed etc etc what had I been doing to it?

Putting oil in says I and demonstrated how I'd been doing it.
Seems Ive been insertine tube below the rubber bulb into the ear canal :-0

Prescribed Reythromicine 2 four times a day finish the course.
AND an ear spray,Ive to have 2 puffs 3 times a day.
Well it had to happen didn't it?

Had an hour and a half phone call to the eletric board this afternoon. They kept sending us a bill that we had paid. It seems that the whole amount had been paid into our potting shed account and the bill for that was only 40.00. They have really mucked up the sytem with their new improved accounts and they have changed the account numbers and this is what had been the trouble as we pay online. So instead of telling us that we were 400 odd quid in credit in one account they sent us a bill for the other account. I have been so stressed with it all afrternoon I hav'nt got a thing done!!

William Report 2 Sep 2011 19:55

Mel, your bit about jumpers being unpicked reminded me of when I was a lad and I had to hold my arms out for my Mum to wind the wool around them before she started knitting anything. It's amazing what jogs our memories ins't it?

We've had a lovely day today as my wife is still feeling a lot better after her hospital medicine changes. We got in the car (no buses today) and drove out the pretty back way through to Lichfield. The winding way goes out through Over Whitacre, Nether Whitacre, Kingsbury and just touches on Tamworth.
The weather was fine and there was a market on too. My wife was dead chuffed as she got a lovely pair of shoes in a charity shop for the forthcoming christening of our two great grandchildren in two weeks time.
The nice things is that everybody was in a good mood and very friendly. Nice to be able to leave Warwickshire and spend a few hours in Staffordshire. We found a new part of the town (to us) today where there was a terrific view of the catherdral with it's three spires (the Ladies of the Vale).
All this gadding about isn't getting things done in the house or garden, but hey what the heck, make hay while the sunshines, it'll be winter soon enough.
Fish and chips tonight with cherry and rhubarb pie and custard to follow, what could be a better finish to a day

What a busy day it has been on your posts. It's hard to keep up.
Jane Sorry to hear about your fall and I hope your aches and pains soon go away. What is a Dopla test please as I have to have one on my legs before I can have special tights on prescription.
Kim Sorry to hear that you have been so unwell and I hope they find out just what the problem is.
Ann Have a super holiday and I hope the weather is kind.
Pat So pleased that you are finally rid of the workmen, must be very peaceful now.
Liz Selling a house can be so difficult especially at the moment, ytou must be delighted.
Sheila Loved the story of the christening but am confused is Bathsheba a boy or a girl??

Mel I have had great trouble with marrows this year, lots of flowers but no marrows and I do not know just what is wrong.
Well saw the Dr yesterday and got the go ahead to fly but must wear strong support tights for the journey. He says that there is not a lot that can be done for my knees at the moment other than physio but I am reluctant to go as they made my problems worse the last time I went.Hospital will not do vein ops at the moment as no money so its a case of " keep taking the tablets"I have had a good day today, had my haircut, had coffee with friends this afternoon and drunk half a bottle of rather nice french wine this evening :-D :-D
