LOl Ann.I have always wanted to visit CHESTER too.I'm looking forward to tomorrow. When you think we actually don't live that far from Cambridge, and I have never really seen the place.I have been twice.Once for Mark's wedding last month ,and the time before was for Marks Graduation. We have decided to visit there more often.
Oh my !!! WDYTHYA .A little bit of a weepy for me Larry Lamb, finding his Mum's Brother!!

Matching knitted 2 pieces were very popular weren't they. I can remember mum knitting jumpers and cardies to match..... in thick wool too. I think there must have been far less heating then in school and at home.

Oh I just love Applejack cottage Mandy.....the baby's pram outside is lovely.....looks like it has the baby in it too!

What a nuisance there are problems with your e-book Frank. You wouldn't think much could go wrong with them would you.

Well, I'm another one off to watch WDYTYA (recorded) now, so Nightie night xxx

Oh Ann, don't remind me about the old nit comb and the itchy Liberty Bodice with all the little rubbery buttons !!

Watching WDYTYA now .

Night Night xx

Annx Report 31 Aug 2011 21:24

You with a ribbon too Mandy........join the club!! lol It looks like ear length hair was the thing for young girls then too. Easier for the 'nit comb' I suppose. I can remember the white sheet of paper every week and having my hair combed over it to check for nits. I just can't believe how many layers I am wearing in my pic......I bet the thick liberty bodice was under that lot too. I'd faint now!!

Thank you Anne, I just hope it is not too rainy that's all. Sorry to hear your bad news. I hope your legs pass with 'flying' colours tomorrow.

Jane we are off on Saturday.......at some ungodly hour so we can get to Truro in time for OH to go to a football match!!!!! I did mutter a bit.......well he was looking for another match to go to on the way home as well, but that may change as it is about a 5 hour trip anyway!!! I think the rest of the time 'my wish will be his command' !!!!lol, lol ;-) ;-) As well as books I have packed a ball of wool and pins to knit a tiny teddy bear for my xmas sock.

I hope you have a nice time on your punt tomorrow and manage to take a few pics. I have never tried it but it sounds good fun. How long will you be punting? Cambridge is a place I keep meaning to visit to see all the old buildings.....Chester is another. (not doggy Chester)

Yes it would be good to see you as 'Buster' Frank.......in short trousers. :-0 :-0

Anne ,sorry to hear your double bad news.I do hope you get the all clear to fly)not long now is it?You will be walking up and down the Isle all the way lol

Not another cottage Mandy????.Stop scratching that bite !!!!.
Frank ,I can't wait to see a new pic of you as a young boy.(Buster ?)
Ann I think I have missed when you are off.Is it this weekend? I think I have lost track of so many posts just lately.I can't keep up lol

The L one's hot and f***ing sore Jane
I think I noticed putting oil in this morning the entrance to the canal seemed especially sore and partially obstructed.
Perhaps a hair or two got pulled out??
Only guessing.

Not looking forward to another syringe on Friday

Evening everyone,

LOL Shirl, what are you like !!

Been cloudy today , but not to cold ,i've have had the back door open .
Car boot today , bought another cottage , Apple Jack Cottage , also bought a Marrow ,as i want to make some Piccalilli and bought some more runner beans .

Glad to hear that Kim's ok , hope GR get her problem sorted out soon.

Enjoy your day tomorrow Jane, there's just been a bit on the news about the punting, i caught the end of it , i think it was about how the weather was affecting things and they were saying that people were only put off punting if it was really raining hard .

Ann, my bites still a bit red and it's itchy now !!
Hope you won't need your jumpers next week ,but its better to take them and don't need them, than to be cold !!
hope we get lots of photo's.

I'am going to change my photo , i've found one of me with a ribbon in my hair !!!

Hi Everyone from an overcast cold Yorkshire. Today has not been the best of days as my brother in laws sister has died and hubbies cousin has been diagnosed with the big C and is far from well so Franks lovely photos were much appreciated by both of us. The weight we had managed to loose last week has miraculously reappeared again after the Bank holiday so we are not having any alcohol for the rest of the week!!
I love the new photographs and I am sure I have one with a bow in my hair somewhere so will try to track it down and finally get it into my profile.
Have been transcribing at the Archives thuis afternoon and two men were sent for transportation. I wonder if they managed the journey and if they ever returned? must see if I can find them
Ann I hope you have a good holiday. The weather forcast is saying that it will be warmer next week especially in the south.
We have managed to avoid the heating up to now but have got the winter quilt out ready for tonight and I wore my winter dressing gown to breakfast this morning. off to the Drs to get the legs checked tomorrow and advice re travelling so hope all will be well.
I think I might watch some tele now, oh just remembered it's WDYTYA tonight great :-D

Frank Report 31 Aug 2011 18:14

Pat, I'm so sorry I missed you out of the posting yesterday, Hope you have received them now.

Lewis decided this morning, after his shower he wasn't getting dressed today, so has been in his PJs all day. Looking at them you would think they are trousers and T shirt. A long as he's happy, no harm.

Both Ros and I are suffering with our backs today. We think it was all the standing around on Sunday, we only sat while we were eating.

Have a nice day tomorrow Jane, I think the weather is going to get warmer.

I will have to get Conrad to scan some old photo's of me, you will never reconise IT'S ME. Yes they did have cameras when I was a boy. :-D :-D :-D

Tomorrow evening, when we take Lewis back, we have got to go to a Football match, that he is playing in. He also wants us to go to an allday affair on Sunday. We will be knacked by the end of that.

Pat, have sent you an e.mail

Annx Report 31 Aug 2011 17:28

Maureen is right.......she, Pat and I do have a look of the early 50s about us!!! lol Mine would have been taken in 1952 I think....my first school photo. I see we all had partings in our hair........oh the fuss my mum would make about my parting being straight and keep scraping my scalp with the corner of the comb till she was happy with it!! I usually had a hairgrip and a ribbon too like Pat......hmmm ....I bet I'd lost my ribbon as usual the day the pic was taken!!! That would have meant a telling off when I got home.

Maureen, we are off to a place between Helston and Falmouth in Cornwall for the week........taking jumpers too at this rate!! We are staying in a lodge.....looks like it is in the middle of nowhere so I'm taking plenty of books.

Hope that wax is softening David, it sounds quite painful. Maybe it will shift the next time the nurse does them. Is Ellen liking not having stairs??

Jane

Jane Report 31 Aug 2011 17:28

Well ,I think I need to find another pic to put up.I see it's all change lol.
Today has just flashed by.I don't know where it went really.I can't believe it is nearly 5.30

How is that ear of yours today David????
I think we will have a fairly early start tomorrow for Cambridge and the Punting.James will be in charge of walking Chester.I don't think he will be too impressed about that as I made him do it this morning too lol

I better go and pick some beans now for Dinner.BBL

Love the new photo Pat. Don't know if it's because they are black & white but we've all got a look of the 50's about us. In my case early 50's .....

Maureen Report 31 Aug 2011 15:11

It's certainly a lot fresher in the mornings and evenings but I'm still hoping for an Indian Summer.

Where are you going on hols Ann, don't remember you mentioning it before, are you off this weekend?

I got all your lovely photos Frank.

Watched The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas last night, at last, something worth watching on TV, thought I'd read the book but didn't remember it. Another film on this afternoon The Memory Keeper's Daughter, have recorded it, I've definitely read this book., let's hope the film is as good.

I was wondering what had happened to Kim, good to know she is okay. Sheila hasn't been on for a while either.
