Afternoon All,

Dull, and dull here.....washing's on the line but I don't think it will do much good out there! I want to get some of it ironed for my hols too. With the weather cooling down so quickly, have decided to take my fleecy jacket for the 'sea breezes'.

My back seems a bit twangy this morning, must have lain funny as it was ok last night. Doing more packing today, sorting books to take and cds for the journey.

We went for a walk around the park where the ice house is yesterday and ended up playing ball with a collie dog! lol He came rushing up through the woodland and dropped his ball at my feet. I kept throwing it and off he went after it and kept bringing it back and dropping it down again and waiting. He took it to OH once but wouldn't drop it or give it to him. His lady owner then appeared and said it was a 24 hour job throwing him balls.....never tires of it!!

We called at the library after and I ended up borrowing 5 books on genealogy I hadn't seen in there before. Now I need a couple more notepads to jot stuff down!!

Frank, you aren't doing anything wrong with your pics.....they have come through fine. I think it is just that some providers systems don't communicate very well. I can send pics to everyone except Shirl, but can't send more than 1 at a time to Pat. If it is the e-mail with several pics that hasn't worked for some, you could try sending those 1 at a time.

Well I'd better go and do the veg for dinner now..........more lovely runners, potatoes and carrots from the garden.

Fiona, Our heating came on at about 7.00. W£hen I got up the bungalow was quite warm, It must have3 been a lot cooler last night, for it to come on. The sun came out earlier but has now gone cloudy. Ros has put the Sheets and whites on the line, It's not even moving yet.NO BREEZE.
My E book froze on a page last night. Just asked a question to Son# and to answer me on line they want £22.00 If it doesen't work, I will have to ask another question. COULD BE Blood# expensive. So I have put it on charge, and see what happens. I phoned a friend, and he has offered to look at it.

Cloudy here. OH gone back to work so it's the calm before the storm,
daughter no 1 a little better so she's back to work this evening ,I will have Sofia from 5.00pm till her daddy picks her up. must check what I have got for her tea.

I think summer has gone & early autumn has arrived it's a bit chilly these mornings , the heating has been going on about 6 so the outside Temp must have dropped.

Morning,

Have'nt read yesterdays post yet but had this from our Kim.

Hi Mel,

Can't get on to the threads - they keep telling me they will get onto the problem. I can access my tree, but that's about all. I did try to go back in via your email, but that won't work either. Can you give my regards to everyone and let them know I'm not sulking. Just about given up on Genes and all these web problems.

Best of wishes to everyone. Thanks kindly. Kim xx

Evening All,

Let's hope Friday is THE day then Liz. You will be on edge with this all the time until the deed is done now. Good for Merlin getting a third prize, what a good boy.......did you get any pics?

Your chimney is ready for roaring winter fires now then Jane. Dad always used our soot on the garden. My tortoise, Horace, buried himself in the pile of it one year. Luckily a back leg and bit of shell were still poking out so we found him!

I have been in The Longshoot a few times William........they do a cheap and good carvery there. OH has told me the previous garden centre at Dobbies was Cross Lanes.

It wasn't a bad day for the dog show then Mel.......and you came back with goodies too! That sounded a nasty cut your OH got on his wrist........can't leave them 5 minutes can you? I hope he's covered it well for clearing the garage out.

The resemblance is uncanny isn't it Maureen. I hardly ever look at that pic, but as soon as I saw your new one it reminded me of that little girl!

Mandy, I had a break from the rocks till we got some fabric to protect the liner behind the waterfall and got the pipe to take the water to the top. Also I don't want to do my back in before we go away this weekend!!! There is only the waterfall to build and a little rock platform for me to see the bunnies in the back field, then the rocks are done I think!! lol Still plenty more to do though before the patio is done in October. Is your nasty bite getting better now? All where the skin was red where mine was was has peeled off, just like sunburn.

Liz, i hope things will start moving for you now , keeping fingers crossed for you , well done Merlin third prize !!

Frank, the evenings are cooler now , we haven't had the heating on yet ,i think the weather should be a bit warmer tomorrow ,so you might be back in your shorts !!

Well that's me done for tonight , hope i sleep better tonight .

Night Night .

Hi all,

David, my Mums old wife's tale. Was to put cooking salt in a clean frying pan and heat it till it starts to go brown. Transfer to a clean tea towel, wrap it up and place you ear on it. The chemicals in the salt help to draw the wax.We used it all the time as kids. and always seemed to work.

Shirl, Glad to see you on here, how are you managing. ??? thinking of you all the time, has the worst gone now.????

Mandy, I think I will move to Norfolk, It's been B cold here today, I had to put jogging bottoms on, Ros needed a bit of heating on , it's off now, but took the chill off.

Jane, Don't end up in the River Cam. on Thursday. Conrad took Ros and I there last year. Smashing trip, and all the lovely buildings. Have been there by "ROAD" but not the same. Hope you ENJOY yourselves.

Mel, I must have missed your post. Hope Mr Mel is OK.

Well! an up date on the house saga!! The chap at thebottom of the pile has now agreed to sign his contract (!!!) and exchange on Friday!! believe it when we see it!! have threatened to pull out of the sale if this doesn't happen! we shall see. Meanwhile we have been going gently up the wall which clearly can't go on, so here's for hoping!! Had a good day yesterday. Took Merlin to a show, met up with loads of friends and Merlin came third in his class which was quite good. Did us good as it took our minds of the house problem! Will keep you all updated!!!

The Doctor who diagnosed the ear wax problem said ti put head to one side and put 3 drops in then get hold of the shell of the ear and turn it around a few times.
This I assume loosens the wax and lets the oil work into it.

Ear nose and throat are connected I believe which might account for the sore jaw etc :-(

Evening everyone,

Been dry and sunny here , what a night i had last night !! woke every hour i was so hot , we had the duvet back on the bed and it was to hot , so tonight we'll have just the duvet cover with no quilt inside , hopefully we'll be a bit cooler and i'll sleep better .

Mel, your poor OH cutting his wrist like that , did he loose much blood ? sounds as if it might have needed a stitch!!
That Coffee and Walnut cake sounds good , i made a Date, Walnut and Honey cake the other day , but i thought it seemed a bit dry !!

Frank, we always had sooty Celery , now i always look for the Fen Celery on the market ,nice and dirty looking, with lots of crunch and flavour .

William , two books for 50p !! that's a bargain, i buy all my books from Charity shops or car boots, i have quite a pile to read !!

David , hubby put's warm olive oil in his ear , just keep your head on one side for a while until its soaked in a bit , if you put cotton wool in it draws the oil out !!

Have you finished shifting your rocks Ann? i haven't heard you mention them lately .

Jane Report 30 Aug 2011 18:33

David,I wouldn't use the Earex drops now if your ear is painful.Try and persevere with the Olive oil. That is the best thing, and safe.AND STOP POKING AROUND IN THERE :-( :-(.

It is certainly beginning to feel cooler now in the evenings and mornings.I have had the patio door open all day though as I could smell soot.I've just shut it now as Chris just walked in and said it's freezing in here lol

Tomorrow I am going to a funeral of a Lady who was a member of GR.That will be at 1.30.
On Thursday Chris and I are going to Cambridge to use our voucher for punting on the river(Punted by someone)not Chris !!!,then a visit to the Fitzwilliam Museum and somewhere for lunch. We will only go if it is dry.James will be in charge of dog sitting for the day.I'm sure if he knows that yet :-S

David

David Report 30 Aug 2011 18:13

I have to confess I have been poking my ear Jane.
I'm putting Olive oil eardrops in,but I can't be allowing it to soak in
(if that makes sense)

Just ordered 15ml of Earex from ebay

David

David Report 30 Aug 2011 18:08

Thanks Fiona,The nurse I saw on Friday gone tried to syringe it out despite it still being hard.Hurt ever since around jaw and down side of neck :-S :-S

Jane

Jane Report 30 Aug 2011 18:07

Oh Yes I remember Lieutenant Pidgeon and the plonky piano lol

Frank ,no I don't keep the soot these days. But I used to have a sweep who asked if I wanted to keep it.That one always seemed to have sooty boots and sheets and left the carpet marked. This one is really clean.

Maureen Hannah has moved to Stoke Newington.I really think she is going to like it there.I just hope her and the other girl get along.Which I'm sure they will.It sounds like they enjoy similar things. It won't be until Sunday that will will actually start to flat share as the other one is on holiday and Hannah hasn't seen her since she moved in lol

Ouch Mel that cut your OH got sounded painful :-S.What was the best dog in Show?

David ,you haven't been poking around in the ear of yours have you :-( :-(
You didn't say what you are using to soften the wax.Are you using that Ear*x?I was told too much can inflame the ear,so just used Olive oil on my bunged up ear.
