Hi All
Managed to help OH with a few odd jobs around the house today, finished putting the carpet back in the airing cupboard, hung a towel rail in kitchen. glued in a lose tile in front porch, then daughter no 1 who has a rotten cold, brought Sofia down. and she went home. and we went out to Tes*o's and bought 2 coats for Sofia, 1 rain coat and a cheaper jacket that she can use to play in when she comes to grans house , it will save her good coat that her mum bought her for winter.

David, you could take a couple of paracetomols and drop a little warm olive oil into the ear, put in a bit of cotton wool to keep it from dripping out, sometimes wrap a hot waterbottle in a towel and lie your ear on it, heat is good for it. if the pain does not go , you need to see the Dr again,

Ann, I keep looking at that photo, I can't believe how alike we are, it's the eyes, the shape of the face, the expression, everything, it's really spooky. Wonder what she looks like now.

I remember Mouldy Old Dough William, talking of groups, my brother and his friend were over for dinner a while ago and were reminiscing about their youth, they were in a group and played local pubs and venues, they both knew John McVie (Fleetwood Mac) very well and he wanted to join the group, but my brother said they didn't let him because he wasn't good enough. Guess who's having the last laugh ........ :-D

What part of London has Hannah moved to Jane?

Much of the work in this bungalow has now been done.
Ellen's getting a new kitchen fitted. There's nothing wrong with the one we have, but she wants a change.

The coping tiles on the roof want pointing sooner rather than later.
Asked for estimates.

Anyone got a cure for ear ache :-S

Ann, you're right about the Dobbies site, there was a previous garden centre there, I remember us going to a car boot sale there one time.
As for Mancetter church, my two great grandchildren (one of each) are being christened there in two weeks time. Then we all off to the Plough next door for a celebration nosh up. Looks like being a good and proud day.
I think Larry got the Everard expression from the fact that the local coal merchants in those days for the Nuneaton area were Everard & Everard. As I said, he was a great one for using local things to put in act although thinly disguised.
I knew about Bill Maynard, I've even been in the pub in Sapcote (no, I'm not a boozer!) that was Bill's favourite haunt, probably still is.
Also going back down Memory Lane, who remembers Leuitenant Pigeon and Mouldy Old Dough? When I worked in Rolls-Royce Parkside, Coventry, one of our clerks in my office was in that group on guitar (he also played with Staveley Makepeace) and played on that record. The heavy handed piano in the number was played by one of the groups Mum's who was far from young. I just love things like that.

I'm not surprised that L G was a good friend of Noele Gordon. The original exterior shots for Crossroads Motel were filmed at the Longshoot Hotel, Nuneaton. The pub still stands on the crossroads of the A5 and the Longshoot, before you make the detour to get to neaby Hinckley. As Larry lived close to the Longshoot it would have made sense.

Don't you all miss the wonderful Saturday night variety programmes these days, I know I do. This last Saturday the TV was a pure washout. I don't know about you, but I can happily live without the X Factor! I'm sure that put a lot of the c**p acts on just to make them look ridiculous.

Anyway, I've cheered myself up today, we went into our local Hospice shop (we've got TWO, doesn't sound a healthy place to live does it?) Anyway, I got a brand new Polo shirt for £1 and it's a lovely shade of green, sort of bottle green. Not only that, our local Sally shop sells two paper back books for 50p.

Anyway, must crack on before I start cooking again.

Morning my little sweet peas, :-) :-)

In bed before 11 pm left Ros sitting watching TV. Didn't wake till 9.00am Lewis was still asleep, as was Ros, she made it into the lounge about 10.15am. Lewis and I had had our Bacon sarnies coffee and tea.

Lewis has just got washed and dressed, and Ros is still in Dressing gown, She is taking him swimming, I will potter about ther house, don't feel like doing much today.

Have got a Roast chichen for tonight. It's in the the Big pot, with loads of veg around the base, to get a nice gravy. Roast pots, peas, carrots, and cabbage. Bread and butter pudding for afters. Hope Ros feels like eating tonight.

Glad the Show went off well Mel, and the weather was kind to you. Careful with all those scones and cream, youy know where that goes, Don't you ????

David, I trust you are all settled in the new home, is there much more for you to get done.???

Jane does the sweep leave you with the soot ??? Dad used it in the garden to put the celery seeds in, Nothing like the taste of "Sooty Celery" if you haven't tried it please do. Ros always looks out for it on the veg. market.
I bet you know the "FALCON" at Castle Ashby. The one I mentioned is on the A 6 on the left coming towards Rushed from Bedford. The Reception was at Clapham, so an easy drive home. A 6 then onto A 45. to M 1 Jcn 15 where we live. Trust Chris is over his knee pains and the trotts.

Thankd
s all for the kind remarks about the photo's. I only picked out a few, as I don't want to BORE YOU ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-)

See you later.

Forgot to say whilst I was at the dog show OH managed to get the corner of the tin in his wrist. It went right to the bone. He has a cut about a half an inch on the side of he wrist and he managed to get a plaster and bandage on it himself. It is on his right wrist!!

He is clearing the garage out today.

Morning All,

Dog show went off ok and the ground had dried quite well . It was a lovely day with plenty of sunshine but very breezy too. I did manage to get a couple of pics but every one was wanting to talk to me. Bought my raffle tickets very early but did'nt win a prize. Bought a bag of 10 scones from the village hall when it was all over and some clotted cream and two pieces of coffee cake and coffee and walnut cake which was the best. Scones in freezer all but four that I kept out.

Frank you certainly looked very dapper for the wedding and I am glad everything went off well for the happy couple. Ros looked really smashing in her outfit and that is also one of my favourite colours too. I think that is the first time I have seen a pic of Ros so now I have a pic in my mind of her when you talk about her, if that makes sense. Lewis looked really smart in his suit, what a lovely looking young lad he is. Have you had your bacon sarnies for breakfast?? I know it is one of Lewis's favorites.

Hope those with dicky tums are better today and all aches and pains are not so bad. My poor little feet are aching like mad today!

Love to all.

Evening all.

We have been tired out this afternoon, Ros had forty winks, Lewis played games on computer. I read yestetdays paper. I daren't go to sleep, or I wouldn't sleep tonight. So won't be to late to bed.

Couldn't be bothered to cook, so had a chinese, which is Lewis's favourite, Sweet and sour Chicken Hong Kong style.

Glad Hannah has settled in with her flat mate. The time she saves on travel, will be a God send. I like Chris have had the trots today, I wonder why :-D :-D :-D self inflicted.!!

Glad you enjoyed your break Pat. It makes you think you have been away for a month.

The bride and groom don't go to New york till the 9th Sept. So all should be settled down by the time they get there.

We drank to absent friends yesterday, and held a minutes silence. Good old Harvey, thinks of everything and every body.

Where's Aunty MEL today, or have I missed her post.

Please keep well, and sleep tight tonight.

Jane

Jane Report 29 Aug 2011 20:18

I bet you enjoyed your Duck Fiona.I can't say I am that keen on it though.

Maureen ,sounds like you had a great time with young Harry.

Ann ,I will definitely have a wander around that Cemetery. Not sure it will be Hannah's cup of tea,so it will most likely be me on my tod lol
She just sent a pic of her bedroom, now she has made up the bed ,and put her cushions on it with a Teddy in the middle .Rug on the floor and a couple of things hanging on the walls. It looks really nice. There is a lovely Park just along the Rd from her place.I think she said it is called Clissold Park.I will look it up.

I am really tired tonight ,can hardly be bothered to type lol.I have the Sweep coming in the morning.Gawd he can talk the hind leg off a Donkey :-S

Mel I hope the Show was a success today and that the ground wasn't too wet.
Hi David ,William and anyone I may have missed.
Hope Shirl is ok.

Back from London and I feel worn out lol.I think once `Hannah has all her things in place and settles in she is going to love living there. Her flat looks across to a Cemetery. It look an old one with lots of big trees and bushes and I think I will love to have a mosey about in there.Lots of little cafes/ restaurant/bars ans some lovely small individual shops .We went to a fantastic Whole food shop which was amazing.
Good job Chris stayed at home as he had the trots :-S.He says he feels quite a bit better but not 100%

Wow Frank ,what a handsome couple you and Ros made. You looked very grand and Ros looked lovely in her purple outfit.I just love that colour.
Lewis in his suit looked a cracker.I'm so glad you all had a wonderful time and to stay the night was a bonus.I bet it felt strange getting dressed in your wedding gear in the morning.
Have Andy and Laura managed to get away for the Honeymoon?Poor Andy doesn't need more bad news does he.
I don't know Bletsoe so I can't say about the 'Falcon'.I have been to A Falcon before somewhere roundabouts but can't think where.
