Morning All,
William, I don't think you would have been popping in regularly where I was based in the DSS office!! It was in the building where the old mill used to be next to the park then. Was the best location I ever worked in, being upstairs on a level with the squirrels in the trees. I was a National Insurance inspector on detached duty there for a year and was mostly out and about visiting premises. There was a right character hanging around most mornings before the office opened, one morning it was a polite 'good morning', the next a torrent of unprintable stuff!! He was usually drinking and had caused damage to staff cars so you never knew whether your car was safe in the carpark!!
OH has told me his dad actually worked in the nearby Hinckley cinemas, not Nuneaton as I had thought. He said his dad worked at the Regent cinema which became the Gaumont and also at the Danilow (sp) where he met MIL who was the usherette who used to flash her torch at him!! The minx!! lol I will ask him about those other shops in Nuneaton, I'm sure he will remember them.
Jane that was a smashing picture of the moon! I don't seem to get the light setting right when I have tried in the past.
Mel, I think car park charge amounts are ridiculous these days. I notice that the car park nearest to where I worked in the city would now cost me £12 a day!!! They are trying to drive motorists onto public transport and just this week have made another 30 city streets 20mph. It won't work though, people will just shop elsewhere.....like me. The park and ride down the road from me is costing a fortune to subsidise since it opened, but they close it in the evenings when it might have got more use.
OH has gone to Guiseley today to a match so we were up early. He brought me a cuppa in bed and said it was 'get up o'clock'!! lol Now I have a day to myself I can't make my mind up what to do. Sun's out so I think I may go out for a while.....beats going through the bedroom drawers and cleaning!

Morning Mel and everyone,
For Maureen (when you're back on Monday) Harry is a darling <3 That smile just melts your heart. Lovely little bub!!! Have a good weekend.
Jane I loved the moon pics and Ann's photos too. Ann a bit more energy today and some time spent on the treadmill to keep the muscles working. I have my down moments, more lately, but who doesn't. We all get the blues for whatever reason sometimes.
Dentist talk - I did have an appointment next week, but had to cancel as it clashes with the doctor. I would hate to think about what he will do to my teeth; the Sjogren's has just about put paid to my teeth, bad receding gums. At least two teeth out and more lifting from the gums. Have always taken great care of my teeth all my life. I have to use Biot*ne toothpaste and mouthwash for dry mouth. Glad all was well with you Mandy.
Half sunny, half overcast here. Just pottered in the garden, folded some washing (exciting). Went through some photos of Joel for his 21st. Had lemon battered fish for tea with lots of veg. Probably a trip out tomorrow if I can get to bed early and in the shower tomorrow. Up to see the computer man at Toukley. Dear Doug is nearly 87 and is the most with-it technically up-to-date person I know - has been fixing our pooters for over 8 years. Hope the weather holds - how are your nights still warm???
Glenda left for her trip to the US. We did go in last night, but she wasn't at home. Keith saw her this morning, she was very teary and glad she hadn't seen me as I would have made her cry. I remind her of Rod and all his funny stories about our family, bless her. The BMW didn't sell. It is 1999 model and the guy was so fussy. A 12 year old car kept in mint condition - I don't know what more he could have wanted :-( I'm glad he didn't buy it, someone else will come along who will appreciate class when they see it.
Anne I hope you have less pain today, which is worse in winter or summer?
Frank have you decided not to go to Conrad's? I haven't caught up on all the posts. When is Ros due at the hospital again?
Pat how are things going with the bathroom? Have they decided how to fix things yet?
Hi to Shirl, Sheila, Liz and everyone else. Have a good Saturday!!!
8.15 pm EST

Morning All,
Have just caught up with your posts and emails.
Mizzley here again this morning with grey skies.
Went out AGAIN yesterday with SIL and BIL, we went to Sandy Bay. We had been there before some years ago but the tide was right in then and we did'nt see the sand!
This time it was coming in but we walked all along the sands and watched all the swimmers and surfers. They even had a lifeguard hut on the beach which was'nt there last time we went and the building they were doing up was a cafe' now as it is owned by the National Trust we had to pay £4.50 for a car to park in the carpark. Tehn went on to find a place called Lucky Hole but never arrived there as we stopped at Morewhenstow and tried to walk down to the beach but had to go through a cows field and we were tired by then so just went in the church. It was one church that i have never rung in or been to before, set right in the valley of where you go down to the beach. It had a memorial just inside the gate of the sailors killed in a ship wreck of the Calidonian in 1842. They had a replica of the figurehead where the captain and his crew were buried. All paid for by the vicar and the parish. The original figurehead now resides in the church as the ravages of time and weather were getting to it.
Came home after that and picked up a chinese meal on the way home.
Maureen what lovely pics of little Harry. He is definately a boy is'nt he. Such strong little features for one so small and I guess he will turn a few heads when he is older.
Anne sorry to hear you are haveing trouble with the knees. Hope you feel better soon.
Frank it is just not good enough all this pain Ros is going through. I do hope the new patches help her.
Pat how are things now at your place? Are you still waiting for the bath to be sorted out?

We have quite a young dentist , her name is Ruby , she is so gentle , son and DIL have changed to our dentist's ,son went the other day and he was dreading it as he feels the pain , he always has to have extra injections to numb his gums ,and then some times he can still feel it !!! But he says she was really good ,and he had two really deep fillings .
We always say, dinner for lunch time and tea at tea time , except when we go out then we go for dinner !!!! in the evening !!!lol mad or what !!!!!
I use to drink lots of water when i was young , all our water came from our Well , it was so clear and tasted so good , when we moved house and had water from the tap it tasted foul !!!!
Mum and dad would always have Camp Coffee ,made with milk , she also use to make a lovely Coffee Blancmange made with Camp Coffee and Cornflour , i bought a bottle a few weeks back to make a coffee sponge , brought back a few memories !!!!

Yes Maureen, I was born in Stratford E15, but a guy called Adolf Hitler did a bit of structural alterations to our upstairs flat (top of a house) in Cedars Rd and we relocated to Chadwell Heath near Romford in Essex. I've been through some of those adventures on here already, don't won't to bore the others. Ann, you'll have to tell me where you worked, I may have been in there. There were three cinemas back then, the Palace, now gone and forgotten, the Scala, which still stands but is a bingo hall. The other was the Odeon which is a classic 30's building now fighting for survival. (Near the dandelion fountain). So which one was FIL a projectionist at? The other 'must haves' back then was Hansons Music shop where you could listen to your records (78's !!!!) before you bought them. The other was Di Dimascios ice cream parlour in Queens Road. Mmmm, lovely grub. Oxford Diecast models have now issued model ice cream vans of Di Di's in two different scales.
See you all tomorrow. Night night

Muggy here too Mandy.Everything open but no air coming in.Lots of blue sky now :-D :-D Glad your choppers are good.I think we all hate the visit to the dentist.Mt Dentist is brilliant ,but such a boring man.He has had a fair bit of sadness over the last few years. His young son died some years ago,and then last year his wife died.He is only about the same age as me.
Just put dinner in .LATE!!!! We never ate late when I was young.Tea was always at the same time everyday.(don't think we called it dinner then). And then we had supper!.I can't remember what was for supper.Bed time drinks were Cocoa for me and my sister, hot milk for Mum,and just a normal coffee for Dad. In the morning it was cups of tea.No coffee in those days. That was a mid morning drink. How times have changed

Have a nice weekend Maureen.I'll put the earplugs away then lolI had them all ready ;-). It's funny isn't it ,everyone with tooth trouble. My temporary crown is still firmly in place, but my jaw is still causing trouble now and then.Hopefully the bite guard will fit properly next week. Can't go through another impression :-S :-S Fitz took his Mum to my dentist yesterday. She still has all her own teeth at nearly 90.Not bad eh?I wonder how David's jaw is.
Chris has just come in so I had better tear myself away from the pooter for a while. He will pour himself a glass of wine and go and inspect the garden.I wonder if he will notice I have done some weeding.I doubt it :-S

That sounded an interesting meal Jane and quite nice, different as you say. At least the bunny didn't chew the the runner bean stems!! I know why I haven't looked at the groupon offers......it won't let me view any they send by email.....grrrr!!
Hope you got on ok at the dentist Mandy. I had a few twinges from a back tooth yesterday, but I had used a different toothpaste for a few days. I changed back to the sensitive teeth one today and it has been ok.
Fiona, you will soon forget the cost and enjoy the improvements. It scared me the amounts we spent a few years ago, but if you put it off it just gets more expensive to do!!
I hope you soon feel less tired Kim, it must get you down at times having no energy to do things but wanting to do them.
Liz, you can't know whether you are coming or going!! How stressful for you both.......what a sigh of relief there will be when the ink has dried next week!!
Pat, I would have thought the person who fitted the bath wrongly should be sorting it out so it is fitted properly and footing the cost of what it takes to do that. It sounds like they are trying to bodge things now. I would be so cross if I were you. When our bathroom was done, the workmen fitted the unit with the washbasin in the middle of the wallspace. When I told them it should be fitted up to the corner, they protested no end because they didn't want to redo it and said it would spoil the unit to try and move it now and I would have to buy a new one. I just politely told them that they needed to discuss that with their boss then as he knew where it was to be fitted. After a good while, they fetched me to see it in the new correct position!!!
Ros seemed to be improving too didn't she Frank. I hope they are quick getting the MRI scan results through.

Hello to William, haven't been on here for a while but I'm one of many in Frank's Harem, got a bit of competition now Frank. Are you originally from London then?
Is Richard Digance the guy who sits with a guitar and sings songs with funny stories or am I thinking of someone else.
Good for your OH Liz, the money these estate agents get from the sale of a house, make them earn it. Fingers crossed all goes well, it has been a roller coaster hasn't it.

Yes that was it William!! He promised to give me a wave when he was next on Countdown, but I missed it if he did! We liked it there because you were never too far away from the stage.....also could park very close by. I must see what's on this winter and take a look at these refurbishments.
I go to Nuneaton sometimes as OH's parents still live near there, also I worked there 12 months in the 90s. I do love that dandelion fountain on the traffic island at the back of the Co-op, you must have seen it. I shall ask FIL about the Co-op Dance Hall on Sunday when we go to see them. If you ever went to the cinema in Nuneaton in the 40s and 50s, FIL was a cinema projectionist and MIL was an usherette so you may have seen them...... small world isn't it. It was me talking about Mallory park........there was someone racing a bike around the track when we went........we had thought the noise would only be there at weekends, but I think people can pay to practice other days. Imagine living next to that din.......makes the M1 near us seem quiet in comparison.
