Ann, you would have seen Richard Digance at our Civic Hall in Bedworth. Don't know how long ago you went but it has been totally refurbished in the last few years. All the top acts appear there now.
I know Nuneaton well as that's where I first came to when I moved to the Midlands on my demon from the RAF way back in the '50's. It was a lot different then, smog and coal mines everywhere, but hey, love stops us seeing all those things, yes?
Nuneaton has changed a lot of recent years too when they built the new Rope Walk shopping centre (never go in there myself). And then they pulled down the classic arc deco Co-Op Dance Hall, a disgrace. It was the worst thing they could have done for us when the amalgamated the boroughs of Nuneaton & Bedworth. I always say B comes before N so it should have been Bedworth & Nuneaton B.C. - not making us the 'poor relations'.
I better go check my family history, I'm getting into politics here and that is most definitely not my forte. Who was saying they went to Mallory Park and Bosworth? My cousin lives at Market Bosworth and I haven't seen her in years and she's not 10 miles away! I guess we are both Cockney refugees.

Must get on, I'll look back in later, been very busy lately.

Take care all - William

Goodness what a stressful old time we're having! supposed to have exchanged today BUT although we were assured that everything is in place we still didn't exchange!! Ian rang agent and blew his top, which sent them scuttling round like 'you know whats'!' We were rang at lunchtime and have been ASSURED that we will be doing the deed either Monday or Tues! the problem has been the chap at the bottom of the pile who has been waiting and waiting for his mortgage money to come through, it has come through today and will have cleared the bank by early next week, and with a bit of luck we will be away on 21st Sept!!! I just hope so as it's doing our heads in!!! Apart from that all is well! Do hope all of you with aches and pains are feeling a bit better today.

Hubby has just staggered into the snug with cup of tea having finished the painting. I have spent the morning looking at curtain fabrics and have brought a pattern book home to play with. I was suprised that the shop charged me for it as normally I have not paid for wallpaper samples. Perhaps they think I am going to sow all the samples together and hang them!
The weather is still overcast but dry and not so very warm but the washing is drying slowly.
Thanks for all your best wishes and I shall keep taking the tablets.

Frank Do give Ros my love and I hope she is feeling better soon. :-)

Yes, what you should do Jane is look the other way :-D
I thought you would have read those books.

I'm going to see if I can get some photos daughter gave me of Harry on to the computer and send them. Probably won't work, these things never do for me on the computer. If you don't hear from me it won't be because I've bug**red up the computer (hopefully), I'm off to Bedford for the weekend tomorrow. Think I'd better take a size bigger jeans, they love their food ;-)

Maureen the portions of each course last night was very small so we didn't feel full at all.But it was enough.I didn't think I would have liked the pig cheek but it was lovely and so tender it just melted.

I have read all of Karin Slaughters books Maureen.Yes right up my street !!!

Night Night Kim.I hope you have a good sleep tonight.

Next lot on eb**.Farmhouse style table and chairs. There are very few bids on tables so I'm not that hopeful :-( :-(

Oh dear Frank, poor Ros.Lets hope these stronger patches do something for her.
As I sit here I can see all the dust on the surfaces around the room :-S :-S :-S.I think I had better do something about that :-D

That sounds an interesting restaurant Jane, should think after all that food your top will fit now ....lol We go to a Spanish restaurant where you can order lots of different tappas, they are quite small portions but I prefer to have lots of different things rather than one main meal, I always end up pinching something somebody elses has ordered too ...lol.

Poor Ros, it does seem never ending for her Frank, best place to be when you feel sick is home. No, I don't want the book back but pass it on if anyone else fancies it, The Kite Runner, the same author as A Thousand Splendid Suns, I really enjoyed both. I've been reading Karin Slaughter, more your cup of tea Jane, have you read Blindsighted, Kisscut and Skin Privilege they go in that order, if not I can send you them. Not as scary as I thought they were going to be.

My daughter will be taking Harry for swimming lessons as soon as he's had all his jabs, both her and her partner are very good swimmers, daughter swam for Ealing swimming club for a few years and her partner swam for Surrey county, I dare say they'll be getting Harry out on his own little ski board too !!!!

I really enjoyed WDYTYA couldn't distinguish between June Brown and Dot Cotton. I thought that too Ann, one daughter in particular was really like her. They've got some interesting celebs on this series, I'm looking forward to Len Goodman.

Don't know how you've stayed sane Pat, you must be wondering if it will ever get finished. Is the kitchen all done now?

Hope your knees are not so painful Anne, not a nice place to have pain, when you stand up it hurts and when you sit down it hurts too. I thought mine was bad enough and that's just one knee.

Just popping in to say goodnight.

Hope things calm down over there and the government gives police lots of power to deal with the thieving murderous monsters.

Happy to see Maureen's back.

Off to the couch now, so tired, but thinking of you all.

Hi Everyone.

Wet and gray here again, last night the builder who is going to build our back porch came round and all is sorted out, hopefully the work will start sometime in October as we don't want it it happening to near the winter and Christmas. This morning OH took a few hours of work and we went to the bank and sorted out the money, scary all this money being handed over we have only just paid for the central heating too.
But we feel it is the right time to get all these jobs done in the house, as we do have the extra money in the bank, as both kids have almost flowen the nest, all university fee's etc are finnished with so we might as well treat ourselves and add value to the house aswell.

Morning All,

Well it rained that awful fine mizzle yesterday. I went with SIL and Vic to Bude. We left Vic to his fishing just by the bridge on the canal. Chrissy and I went and had coffe and I had a bacon bap. Not impressed with that asit only had one rasher in this great big soft bun but the coffee was'nt bad. We then went off to Widemouth Bay which is only a little way from Bude and Chrissy and I like it because it has nice pebbles if you walk all the way along to the right. The tide was coming in and you have to go through a narrow bit in the rocks so we had to watch the tide incase we got cut off!!

Then we went on to Brook's Nursary and had a nice piece of quiche and a pot of tea for two. Quick look round to see if there was anything for my border to give it a bit of colour but there was'nt. I wanted a Hellenium and they had some there but only one stem in a big pot with flowers on but they wanted £4.95 so I would'nt buy one.

Then back to pick up Vic and he had had a good day fishing even if the weather was'nt too good. He caught a fair sized bream and two big carp plus many other smaller fish. He took picks to prove what he caught and to show OH when he got back.

My poor little feet hurt after walking all over the big pebbles and still feel as though I have bruised the heel on my left foot this morning. Also my back is playing up again on the right side.

Mizzle and dullish again today but am hoping to get up the tunnel to water and pick beans and toms and probably masses of courgettes. It is surprising how thing grow when you have'nt been in there for two days.

Morning Pat and all.
Bet the electrician got a bit of a shock Pat ;-).It is bad that your OH keeps having to come home to sort things. Can he put a claim in for loss of earning?
You have had a right bunch of incompetent workmen haven't you.

It is a darkish morning with not a breath of air.Washing on the line ,but I bet it doesn't dry as there is a dampness in the atmosphere. When I wes down the lane just now with Chester a huge flock of Canada Geese flew right over us.There were about 25 of them.It looked like they were heading for the Lake at Wicksteed Park.

I am going to pick some Runner Beans now.The first this year!!!!!! I have waited so long for these.

Morning All...Couldnt sleep again.

Was up before Hubby Alan who left for work at 6.30..We hope to go to Dunhe*ms today...He only works to 12 on a friday..
The electrician is comming some time today to put the bathroom light in and to change some sockets in the kitchen
The wall in the kitchen has been stripped and painted 3 times now...this was done yesterday with some of the paint work in the bathroom
But we have a dispute to do with the bath..The headman looked at it Tuesday and THE plumber came back to see what he can do yesterday..So Alan took more time off when we knew what time he was comming..He is losing pay everytime he does this..

The bath has been put in to low so the panels dont fit... This is an extra..We paid for the bathroom suit and also for it to be fitted.. They can either remove some tiles to higher it or cut the panels to suit...We are haggling now...It seems everything we have paid extra for has not been right..The extractor ducting was a bodged up job..Alan went out a bought bits which cost quite a bit and done the job himself . we are already going to be billed for the original fitting of the ducting and kit..

Jane I hope you had a nice meal last night...I take it you couldnt get back to change you top..

Anne I also go quiet when Im stressed and retreat into my self too...I hope your knees feel alot better today..My back is still painfull when I move but that is self inficted because I done some gardening wed.. Yesterday we had rain so I suppose I did it just in time. The sun is comming out now but for how long..

Ann you do find some interesting things don't you when you are out and about.
I will have a look at Ada Lovelace tomorrow.
Well we had a nice evening .The meal was a bit odd.Every little course was delicious but I would not have paid the proper price of £50 !!! (per person)
First course.....a Teacup of Vichyssoise(cold Leek and pototo soup)
Second course...Hock Terrine.......(nice)
Third course...Broad bean and Lemon risotto (scrummy)
Fourth course..Slow roast Belly pork with a pigs cheek(!!!!!) on a bed of some shredded veg and a Pea puree.( it was absolutely delicious)
Fifth course Greengage Fool with tiny ginger biscuits(.Nice ,but nothing special). All in all a very nice meal ,but not right if you just fancy a Meat and 2veg meal ;-) ;-)
All I can say is it was different but nice too.

We called in the churchyard at Kirkby Mallory not far from here this afternoon. It is the village where Mallory Park Racetrack is that was built on the site of the old Kirkby Mallory Hall. There is a memorial in the churchyard I had wanted to see for a while to Ada Lovelace who was Lord Byron's only legitimate child. She went as a baby with her mother to live at the Hall which was her mother's parents home.

Ada's story is quite interesting.......she became known as 'Mathematical Ada'.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ada_Lovelace

We also called at Shenton railway station which is at the end of The Battlefield Line. (referring to the Battle of Bosworth) I took a few pics as last week I discovered a distant rellie on my tree had died of injuries he sustained there at age 70. I knew in earlier censuses he had worked on the railway.....now I am wondering what happened to him. There was a pretty railway cottage there (might have been the stationmasters in times gone by?) Will send a pic when I have sorted them out. A lovely collie that lived there came over and just lay at my feet while I was snapping away. Another dog that came into the yard didn't get such a nice welcome!!!!! lol

Off to bed now.......sleep tight everyone and may we all wake up with less aches and pains.....xx
