Fiona, Good news at last. Hope they find the problem.

I also liked Arthur Haynes as the tramp. With the lady tramp Patrica ?????

What a going on in London, with all these riots and stealing YOBS YOBS YOBS. Put them in the Army for two years, that would knock them into shape. I would like to be a seargeant major in charge of them. Their feet wouldn't touch the ground. When in for National Service, there was always those who thought they could break the system, OH NO THEY COULDN'T. They lernt the hard way, but enden up in line, in the end.

Mr Pastry was actually Richard Hearne. He used to do that fantastic dance where he was prentending to be dancing with others. He was also associated with Fred Emney.

Afternoon all,

I have cooled down a bit since this morning.

In the post this morning was a letter from the Pratice Manager of the Surgery. Saying that my outburst the other week was unaccectable, and if it reaccures I would be asked to find another Doctors. I was on the phone in a flash. Steam pouring out of my ears. Puff puff. I ask(ed for him by name only to be told he has just started two weeks holiday(GOOD JOB FOR HIM). Let me speak to his No. 2. a very nice woman came on the phone, and when I explained exactly what had gone on, see was most apologetic. and would be sure to get the perscription manager to call me next Monday when she returns from holiday. As for the Pratice Manager, I told her to tell him in no uncertain terms. That before he starts threatening me, to get the facts straight. My blood is starting to boil again !!!! They haven't heard the last of this.

Ros is right down again today, Only a glass of milk today. She is at Woodlands now having her MRI. Fortunatly Carolyn was back from Hastings last night and phoned this morning. When she realalised Jan had to come 50 miles each way to take Ros. She offered to take her. Should be back 6.30ish. I had instructions that she would not want a dinner tonight. So a meal for one tonight out of the freezer. Cat can have the rest of the meat from yesterday I can't be bothered to cook for myself.

Enough of my woo's How are you all.

Did you get the caraven dried out over the weekend Mel.????

Hope you have sold the car Jane, and the washer dryer. What a clever girl you are :-D :-D :-D

Pat. I think by now I would be doing my NUT. How long can they expect you to tolorate, all this toing and throwing.??? You need me in your corner, I would get them sorted, one way or the other. More than likely, they would down tools !!! :-( :-( :-

I think tomorrow I might do myself a Toad in the Hole, mashed pots and Onion gravy. I can almost taste it now. Will go and get the sausages out of the freezer now !!!!

M andy you are thinking of Arthur English, the spive with a little tash. and trilby hat sat on the back of his head.
Tommy Trinder, use to wear very tight trousers and do the "SAND DANCE"
Along with the old favourites was "WORKERS PLAYTIME" variety shows from the work places, during the war.

Hello William.I am still waiting for grandchildren.I think i will be waiting a long time !I will probably be gaga by the time any arrive lol
My daughter travels on the tube everyday now.I have to I am not keen on them .Not so bad if there is plenty of room ,but I have a problem when they are packed like sardines.Hannah said when it was boiling last week it was like travelling inside a tupperware box :-S

Well my dental appointment was a disaster. My bite guard didn't fit properly so I ended up having to have another impression done.I was nearly sick, retching and gagging.I felt my tongue had got stuck to the gunk then started to panic.I think if the next one is wrong I will say thanks but no thanks to another one.

The chap is collecting the washing machine tomorrow evening.Just need rid of the car and I also have to advertise a Farmhouse Table and 6 chairs.

It is a lovely evening .The dark clouds from earlier seem to have gone.

One chap who was always drunk was Colonel Chinstrap in ITMA who would slur 'Don't mind if I do,Sir'.

William Report 8 Aug 2011 17:28

Not sure about Arthur Haynes, I think I can visual them, wow, I nearly had it then - then cigarette was always broken in the middle. Used to slur his speech. Arthur Haynes always had a saying in one of his sketches (sort of mime) he'd say ' Welll done Oscar, you've triumphed again'.

I tell you Ann, that was a Yorkshire and a half !!! LOL i was worried it was going to stick to the sides of the oven , it came up and then flopped to the side, i had to get a cloth to lift it out of the oven ,as i lifted it up it left the tin in the oven LOL

It is a man thing with the toilet roll tubes , mine never puts them in the bin , he stands it on the window sill, and he waits until he's on the last squirt of shower gel or shaving foam then says i need some more !!!

Wondered were you'd got to William , more memories !! i've only been on the tube once , that was enough for me ,i hated it !!
Who was that Chap who use to have a ciggie in the corner of his mouth ,he always acted drunk, was it Arthur Haynes ?

Better sort some tea out , hubby will soon be home.

Hi folks, bet you thought I’d forgotten all about you. No, just been off celebrating my fine young grandsons 18th birthday – where did all those years go?

Talking about where the years went, I used to have to travel on the London Underground a fair bit (the Tube) and was always fascinated by the artwork on the little posters above your head on the top side of the carriage. One cartoon that always sticks with me is ‘Coughs & sneezes spread disease; trap the germs in your handkerchiefs’. If I think of any more I’ll post them on here. The steam railway carriages, the ones with individual compartments, used to have some lovely framed prints of areas that railways used to travel to. With my Dad working on the railway (LNER – Late and Never Early Railway) we used to travel by train when the occasion arose. I still have two of my Dad’s old whistles here, nicely displaying the LNER lettering. Pity we can’t show photos on here.

I was looking through the TV magazine for this week and what did I find, ‘Bell Bottom George’, a 1943 film starring George (turned out nice again) Formby. It’s on BBC2 on Thursday at 11.40am. I’ll bet everyone is now trying to conjure up the old Gracie Fields films! Catch phrases ought to be another item for us. Tommy Trinder, “You lucky people” – Arthur Askey “I Thankkkk You!”. Arthur askey would often refer to ‘the char lady from Chadwell Heath’ – that was where I grew up!

Anyone believe in coincidences? While checking out my family data, I realised that my Mum was 38 when I was born. Then when I calculated when my paternal grandma had my Dad – yes, you’ve guessed – she also was 38. My birthday falls on St. Swithin’s Day, my mothers on St. Patrick’s Day – me, I married an Irish lass. My brother and his wife also got married on a St. Patrick’s Day. My Dad was born on March 26th; my wife’s Dad was born on 27th March. My mother-in-law and my son-in-law both share a June 4th birthday (not same year of course!). My daughters birthday is the day before my wife’s. It makes it easier for me NOT to forget special occasions!

Cor, that’s fair stretched me old memory banks, think I’ll go for a lay down now, what happened to me eiderdown and bolster?

Chat again soon, take care all

Chris is the opposite with bathroom things. He always buys more of his things like deodorant, toothpaste and mouthwash way before he actually needs it.Then just leaves it on a shelf or the windowsill in the ensuite. So there is double or more of his mess :-S.Plus the empty loo roll.Does he ever take it down to the recycling bin? NO .He is as bad as James for that.Maybe it is a man thing.

Hannah was in Brixton yesterday afternoon with a friend having a lovely time at some street festival thing with market stalls etc.Thank god she was back in Stoke Newington by the evening when the rioters moved on to Brixton.

Must fly..........Dentist
She said she wouldn't be surprised if some of her clients turned up at the centre today in new trainers etc(looters) !.Mind you if they did the new stuff would soon be sold for more drugs :-( :-( :-( :-( :-(

Afternoon All,

Oh Pat, I bet you are not optimistic about anything they do now!! Still, at least you are able to fill a few cupboards in the kitchen.

Mel, I hope you get the caravan dry for tomorrow. If it is as blowy there as it is here it should help. It is annoying when OH's run out of things without saying. Mine does that with pickles......uses the last scrape so there is none left for me ........then tells me we need some more!!! Why not mention it before the last shopping trip!! What are they like!!

Jane, you are doing well on ebay and at least you have had an enquiry with putting the car out on view.

Mandy, that sounds a hell of a yorkshire pud!! lol It's a wonder it didn't fill the whole oven.

The book I ordered about the early Quakers in Pennsylvania arrived this morning. It has a few pages on my ancestors as there is a chapter on each family. There are a few of their signatures from the 1700s. One is on a petition for a new road. There is also quite a bit of background on how the settlement started and grew so I think it will be interesting. Sadly none of the portraits are of any of mine!

Morning has started of with mishaps already.....Painter given the wrong paint...So while he went to change it I amanaged to wash my hair.

Then got a phone call from one of the head men to say ours has called in sick...this one will be here at 8 in morning...Didwant this one to9 come.
We have bought the bathroom suit our selves and are paying for it to0 be fitted,,,not on the insurance claim

Bath was put in...tiler asked him if it was correct height before tyling...yes he said...When plumber finished his work he said it wasent his job to fit the panels around the bath as more boxing in was needed.

So Alan got one of the panels and found the bath hasent been put in high enough...hence the reason we are waiting for head man who has called in sick today..

Morning Pat and all,

Hope everything goes well for you today Pat. Too early for me to wash my hair as it comes down to well below my bottom so I have to be fully awake to wash mine.

Cloudy here this morning but dry at the moment.

Today I have to do the kitchen and the shopping, two pet hates.
