LOL Liz we were the Bee's Knees!!!!.Youngster nowadays think they are too.Wait 20/30 years and they will think they looked a fright when they look back at the photos.

Crikey we have had quite a discussion here this afternoon. When Chris retires .Do we move or not move. What will he do with his time?? How will he feel? He is getting a little concerned :-S So am I now .It won't be earlier than 18 months. But I think we need to put thinking caps on.I would just love to live nearer my Sister. We have no family here other than our 2 appendages ;-),but they can stay with us wherever we are.I think it just hit Chris today knowing it will soon be the end of 'working life'.He wants nothing to do with Medical things once he retires.

I think dinner may be a bit of a disaster. The Pork is tough :-S :-S

Liz, I had red tartan trews about then........and a perm!!!

Yes Jane, it can feel quite intimidating when they pour out of the big matches. I don't really like him going to them, so I'm glad he just mostly follows the little local team!!

Mandy that is very HOT!! I shall have to be up very early to do anything outside. I have never had any desire to wear a thong either!! lol I think one would drive me nuts......would feel like a sumo wrestler. lol

Mel, you did have quite a few bikinis. I can only remember one pieces until I was age 19. I remember those itchy wool ones we had as school uniform ones that sagged as you climbed out. The there was a gingham one piece too with shirring elastic all over so it looked like little bobbles till you stretched it on. My word how it would hold the water in those bobbles when you got out of the water.....pulled it right down! Then at 19 I got a black bikini joined together with those gold metal rings at each hip and in the middle of the top. I still had it until I moved here, then out it had to go with the big clearout. I had another I wore in my 30s, a pink and brown leopard effect one.....might still be in the loft somewhere. I don't possess anything that would fit now!!! Shirl, mine would need two Blue Whales on now!!! lol

Hi Everyone,

Scorching hot here, but a slight breeze which helps a little. Did a bit in the garden this morning and OH moved some of the gravel again and we watered all the pots, baskets and greenhouse. It is becoming like the forth bridge watering stuff!!

Hope you had a nice time Pat and that your frayed nerves are better and that you are ready for the workmen again!! I always like to get the washer on as soon as I get back too.

I wish you could get small varieties of purple sprouting broc Mel as I loved it, even as a child, and remember dad growing it. Glad your back is getting better so you can do things, mine is ok again now, so I will be 'rocking' carefully tomorrow. lol Have you any pics of the chicks......they are so cute......I remember the little one with mum when I came to see you. I see your OH does ring at different churches.....is it easier at some.......silly me, I suppose the bigger bells are harder to move!!!

Liz, I bet Edward will be full chatter about his speedboat ride when he gets back. I have never been on one either......not sure I have a strong enough stomach for all that bouncing over the waves. Something that goes phut, phut is more my thing!! Have either of the grandchildren wanted to ride Merlin?

Frank, it would be very interesting to see what colours you would choose to paint!! I wonder what colours you see for green and red, one or the other for both?

I bet Ros is really fed up with all these problems. I think it is a good idea to cook you a dinner and try and tempt her with just a bit of it......less daunting than a bigger meal when you are struggling. Could she try a ginger biscuit? The ginger is supposed to help with an upset tum?? I agree with you all about speaking to your doc. She can't carry on as she is, so the sooner her doc knows exactly how things are now, the better. I think you are doing great, doing your best to try and help her...........my OH's repertoire in the kitchen would be much more limited, bless him!!! As Jane says, keep calm and just tell it how it is.

I say Scon Jane, but it may not be right! nostalgic! 'o' not an 'a', but I had to look it up!! Black as your hat here now, looks as if it's about to teem! Tracy,I thought I was pretty cool way back, in fact my friends and I thought we were the coolest kids on the block, cica 1961! we we wore Winkle Picker shoes and tartan tights,M & S Skirt, grey or dark green, a sloppy Joe jumper your boyfriends scarf, and a dark coloured duffle coat, a couple of sizes too big!! we always went wherever we were going on the bus, and thought we looked the 'bees knees'. I should think we looked a complete fright!!! My mother was always trying to get me into something 'pretty' "why did I have to wear all these dark ugly colours"! 'cos everyone else did I suppose!!!!

Clotted Cream I hope Liz.Only clotted will do with Scones.I am now feeling very nastalgic (how the devil do you spell that word?).Tea on a Sunday at home was sometimes Mum's homemade Scones,Strawberry Jam and Local Clotted Cream.Mmmmmmm! Scrummy.
How do do all pronounce Scones?I say Scon.
Mel you had a lot of Bikinis. How can you remember all of them!!!
I do remember Gingham was very popular.I think I had a pink Gingham Bra,size 30 AA lol,but it had prickly lace .Itchy :-( :-(
Talking of Bras made me think of our David and Sadie the Bra Lady.
I bet David is having to wait to have his Broadband thing or whatever it's called to get his computer set up again.I know my sister had to wait 2 weeks before she could get on line again when she moved.

Sorry Tracy, I spoke to Laura this am, and of course I forgot to ask!!! I do know that Polly has arrived safely so that's good. Been a fair day here! lots of cloud but warm, and hot when the sun came out, quite dark now, looks like rain! I used to wear a bikini, a few years ago now! I had a very pretty pink gingham one way back in 1961 when I was 18 and thin!! (Ian carried a piccy of me in it round with him for ages, till it fell to bits- like me! ) but I always wore a bikini for years, till I got too tubby! (and old!) my mother wore one too for years, we like the sun, us ladies! I certainly still wear a 'one piece' on the odd occasions we go swimming. Not done much today apart from a trip to the 'tip' with MORE rubbish, Scones and cream for tea Yum, so slimming!!!!!

Hi Shirl.

I have a pic on my desk of you. It's the Christmas one with you standing by the tree.

I always wore bikins!! from an age of about 8 when mum made me one in small green gingham. It had a flat bra rop and bloomers on the bottom. The next one was anvy blue also made by mum which had a middle strapp to the bra and bone across. Many more followed, one was royal blue and had a white pleated skirt on the bottom bit. A terry striped one in yellow white and navy blue. A pink gingham one in the 70's. a black one in 1969 I tried on whilst pregnant. One with wide straps in blue with a green and blue stripped bottom. A multi coloured one of turq, pink and green with a sleevelees see through jacket that whnt over it. A blue and white strpped one with wide straps. More too I suppose but they are the ones that come to mind. Oh and a bright green one with shoestring straps.

I was a bit nervous wearing a swim suit when we went abroad for the first time , sister said don't worry nobody you know will see you !!!
What happened !! we only saw two lots of people we knew from the town !!!

Its that time of the month Jane, i have to do hubby's accounts tomorrow !!

And it's time to pay the tax man again !!!

Jane

Jane Report 31 Jul 2011 14:49

Well I have just been out de heading the roses, but it is so hot I have come in too Mandy.I haven't seen the forecast for next week. What is it?
I could do with a lovely paddle at the seaside right now.Roll my trousers up just like Dad used to do.He would do that when Janice and I were young and in the sea.He stood on the edge of the water to keep an eye on us.Mum would be sunbathing in her white towelling Bikini lol.I found a photo of her in that Bikini not long ago,and she didn't look bad at all.She was quite brave really as all her friends wore swimsuits.
I have never worn a Bikini in my life. The nearest I came was one of those things that had a top and bottom linked by a strip up the front with a gold coloured ring(bit like a curtain ring),but from the back it looked like a Bikini.I just never had the nerve or the figure to wear one.I won't even wear a swimming costume these days.Wish I could :-S

Chris has shut himself in the study doing accounts.I am staying well out of the way :-D :-D

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 31 Jul 2011 14:27

Well i don't like to complain ,but boy its hot out there ,i've had to come in to cool off !!

Frank, i agree with Jane , it does sound as if Ros is depressed , do try and get her to the doctors .

Jane

Jane Report 31 Jul 2011 13:51

Frank. It sounds as though Ros is Clinically Depressed now.Just the way you have described things. She has lost an awful lot of weight and sounds like she is on a downward spiral.I think you are right to speak to the GP ,but persuade Ros to go too.She can't go on like this.(neither can you)
Keep your pecker up and keep your cool !!

Jane

Jane Report 31 Jul 2011 13:40

LOL Mel.That is a good idea.I just went out and shouted "Pooh what a stink"
I doubt they heard me though.I think it is dying down now.About time too :-S

Mandy you have been busy.Enjoy relaxing in the garden with your book.
Some tiles are so dangerous when they get wet.I have found some Hotel Bathrooms have very slippery ones and have had to tread very carefully.

I just noticed that our flower trough was coming apart.Must be the weight .Chris has just been out and nailed it back together again. That could have been a right mess :-( :-(

Ann ,I bet you won't be too keen to pick up your OH from a BIG match again in a hurry. It sounded a bit scary .You never know what mood the fans are in (especially if they support the loosing team).

Frank

Frank Report 31 Jul 2011 13:36

Jane, The law round here forbiis bonfires in the gardens before after dusk. In fact I don't think you are aloud Fires at any time. I seem to remember somebody getting done for lighting a bonfire in daylight hours over the allotments. !!!!

Still only managed to get Ros to have a glass of iced water, so I can't see me getting anything down her later. I have done enough Veg. to feed an army, if Harvey wants to he can take it home with him for the next few days, before he goes to France on Thursday. There will also be a big chunk of beef. I think I am loosing weight as well, I know Ros has lost almost two stone. I will start cooking for ONE, and if she fancies a bit, she can have some of mine. I hate wasting food.

I am going to ring or go down to the Doctors tomorrow, to see if he can surgest anything for Ros. She can't go on like this, she's not talking to me, just sits/lays on the sofa, watching tele. I like it quite, but this is getting beyong a joke.

Going back into the garden now for more reading.!!!!
