My back is a little better today thank you Kim. I'm being careful with it as I want to carry on with the garden tomorrow....gently!! That is a long time to have been unwell and a long wait for a correct diagnosis. I suppose you have to be very careful not to overdo it......must be very frustrating at times.

Well, Jane had a lovely day for the wedding didn't she? I bet she will be pooped by bedtime again!! lol I hate travelling in clothes for an occasion too....all those creases at the other end!

Frank, it must be difficult.......you can see Ros may need a chair soon, but she isn't ready to accept it yet. If you get one, I'd put it in the shed and tell her it's insurance for both of you!!

Afternoon All,

Wall to wall sun here and very warm. Visited the in laws after lunch and FIL is doing well now after having his last 4 teeth out last Tuesday. He always bleeds a lot after extractions and said it took 24 hours for the bleeding to stop. His bottom lip is a bit swollen still.....he laughed when I asked if he'd had botox!!

Sheila you must think 'what next' all the time. What an awful thing to come home to. I'm not surprised to hear Beryl was soon round your place !! The amount some people drink these days has got right out of hand and is costing us all a fortune with police and NHS costs and some will become the alcoholics of the future. When I worked in the city, one office I was at had a place for alcoholics close by. It wasn't well lit up those back streets and you would often meet groups of drunks who could be a right nuisance and quite intimidating trying to stop you walking by and pestering you for money. It can't be pleasant for you at all. Your OH is getting quite keen on Andre......wait till he's properly 'hooked' before you tell him the ticket prices!

I remember grapenuts too.....and my little brother and dad hating them. lol

Liz, I have my fingers crossed for you and good that Laura is happy and you have 'harmony' again! It may be all turning out for the best!! You have a nice lot of fruit......I must go and pick my dozen goosegogs now they are ripe!!

Frank Report 24 Jul 2011 14:07

we have had coffee/tea, read the paper, watered my seeds. Going to get the lounger out now and read my book.

Shelia, What a terrible time you are having around your area. When did you get back in your home ????

Ros has almost finished her jigsaw, and is also starting to knit some funny hats for the scout funds.

I have been looking at wheelchairs on Ebay, I said what do you think of this one ???? I'm not going in a wheelchair, SOB SOB. !!!! I think the best thing I can do, is get one, and see how she feels about it then.

Nice sunny afternoon here now. ENJOY

LilyL Report 24 Jul 2011 13:35

Talked to Laura this am,and she is very happy with our proposed move! Phew, thats a relief! mind you why should I worry what she thinks?! but I do!!! Talked to Alice aged 8, who tells me that she really wants to see us, so all is well, (til the next time, as Mark rather gloomily put it! he is a close relation of Eeyore!) Kim, We HOPE to move in early September, I think buying and selling a house in the UK is about the most complicated system in the whole world, it seems to take for ever! but it will be so nice to be closer to the family, so is worth the aggro!! Sorry to hear about your MS, I had a friend with the same condition and it could be very debilitating, not nice at all. Have picked loads of Gooseberries, raspberries, Red and black currents. Haven't grown any veg this year, owing to move. Still at least we'll have plenty of puddings!!!!

Sheila

Sheila Report 24 Jul 2011 13:00

Hi everyone how is everybody. Well we seem to have had another problem
around here some drunken men sheltered in a garage down the alley way
in a disused shed and stupid people set fire to a gas cylinder and two of the drunken men were burned we understand one has almost died from his burns and when we came home from shopping our place was out of bounds to us with tape all across our front tied round the lamp post to the garage handle making it impossible to get in our premises. Not any explanation last night and the couple at the other side of the alleyway with two small children also were stopped from going in there premises. We were sat outside in the car over the road for at least 45 minutes until my husband called the local police station. I hope nobody says it all happens round your way Sheila or I will scream but it does. !!!!!
So far a student was raped down the bottom of the road and the police investigated and took DNA samples from all the young men round here including my son. Then a man hit his wife over the head with a bottle and killed her and they came in our off licence the night before. Now we have this bother and I am thinking Frank you are right we should move chuckie egg.
There is a big police van right outside our front door and every nosy person from roundabout is enquiring whats happened . I am fed up and to be honest drunks have been a problem for years and I do not like selling spirits and beers when I see people staggering down the street and collasping in a heap on the grass with paramedics coming out. They could be going to someone else while helping some drunk. I remember an old lady came in our shop very posh had servants and she had her little grandaughter in the car and I refused to serve her. This women put her grandaughter on the seat next to her and hit a car pulling away the little kiddy was shocked and crying and the women was ok.
I will not serve these people and my husband is the same but any trouble and the police see us first. The police say one mans got seventy per cent burns its been on the Midland news this morning. Yesterday at the bottom of our garden while we were out and this gas cylinder exploded there was some people playing noisy music according to a neighbour
and I hate to think how scared the dogs must have been when the cylinder
exploded it was heard all round here

Well everything is speculation at the moment but they maybe investigating
a murder and it is such a lovely day today.

Maureen you asked about Beryl did she live far away about 30 minutes by car a good hour on the bus. But Beryls daughter Cassandra lives three
doors away and when Cassy told her mum about the trouble last night
nosy Beryl came rushing over today with Pandora and Elvira there is a celebration today .Beryl does not have anything else to do but visit here and a neighbour brings her sometimes. I take her back when I have had enough of her. I like the ride to her house the scenary is lovely and I like
seing Susan a lady who lives next door and her cat Topsy who Donnie locks in the coal shed. Sue is old and she loves her cat so does not like Donnie.

I have some lemon chicken and cracked pepper chicken for dinner with salad and broad beans all supermarket bought after my problem with burnt peas last week. Lighlty battered chicken it says. With breadsauce and pear sauce. I will look forward to that later and resist the temptation of going up to Pandoras birthday party. With Elvira and Cassandra and Beryl
singing .Beryls got a good voice Mel but not when shes had a few drinks
and that subject is not good at the moment. Pandora is celebrating her
50th birthday today. So Beryls got a big party going.

Glad Pat got off on holiday where did she go somewhere nice. it will be nice to get away from the builders for a while
and turmoil.

I hope David you are settling and Ellen in the new bungalow
I bet it will be lovely when your all settled. its good not having stairs when older and less work.
My hubbies engrossed with Andre playing his new tape Ann he seems to be a fan maybe will go to a concert or will faint when he finds how much the tickets are I have not told him much yet.

Such a lot of lovely new photoes donkeys etc.,I did not go on many donkey rides on my holidays it was Southsea and pebbles donkeys were not very keen.I did get rides at Blackpool or Rhyl sometimes.

I am looking for a Louis Hawthorne 1930 do not know where to start so little information. She a women was a friend of my grandads.I have only some information of a home in Banbury. Where do I start.?

Morning everyone,

Better weather today, not a drop of rain and wintery sunshine so the washing went out.

Liz when do you move?? We have a Steptoe and Son family next door to us and on the other side is an elderly neighbour who put his house on the market two weeks ago. Surprise, it now has the SOLD sign up. I thought it would take a while and buyers would be put off, but luckily we are getting a young couple with a young baby. Will be great to have a new family in the street :-)

We have only had jelly crystals (Ae*o^lane Jelly) being the first brand. Jelly in a Block sounds pretty good to me.

Annx have had the ME coming up 16 years, but was officially diagnosed in 1999 by a clever doctor, after quite a bit of messing around. Have been using some weights over the last couple of months and I think that has sent me into a spiral with muscle and joint pain. I will have to be careful with my use of them. Hope your back has eased today.

Such a waste with the loss of Amy Winehouse, but she was heading that way for a long time. Terrible news from Norway. I wonder what set him off - such a peaceful country usually.

Frank I hope you are having a better day. I have been on e-Bay today having a look at the books and other things. OH will just have to sit down with me and get the ball rolling. I have a few other things around the place I could sell, but then I saw a few things I would like to buy. That's why they never let me out ;-) I love to spend money :-D :-D

Bet Pat is having a great time and not thinking of kitchens and bathrooms.

Have a good day everyone, hope the sun is shining for you.

Morning, from a sunny Blisworth. Chill in the air this morning, but warming up.
We have just had the little baby from next door.Ros had a nice cuddle while his mum was out for her run. He is 11 weeks old now, and a sweet little thing, smiles all the time. And his name is MILES, His dad has just collected him. Nicola is getting withdrawal symptons, not having him with her. !!!!!

Jane, will be on her way now, so hope the weather holds for them.

Liz, I remember all those things, also the Maypole shops. They did a fabulous Maderia cake, I have never had one that could beat it. But that when it was on ration, and you only got a very small portion. So I suppose we apprieciated even more. We still had snow on the houses in spring 1947. The old metal framed windows were frozen solid, it seemed for ever. With no real traffic around, we had a slide in the road that seemed to go on forever. The kids from all around would queue up to have a run at it, and see how far they could get. We would go out each day and add more water to it, to keep it nice and slippery. What little Bugg### we were. Up the road from us, was Millmans/Drapers hill. When the took down the old Andersons shelters after the war, we used the rounded end as sledges, We would pile on (about six at a time) and go down the hill. At the bottom was an Orchard, that we would plough into, breaking down the fence. This was used both winter and summer. When the grass was nice and springy.

Haven't any real choirs to do today. So will tidy round and make the Bed. and read the paper and my book. Dinner tonight about 5/6pm.

It is a nice morning here.I hope it stays that way.I am all showered ,hair done ,nails done.I just want Hannah to help me with eye makeup.I am not too good a doing that (mainly as I can't see what I'm doing ) :-S :-S
We are leaving about 11.30 .I did ask the Hotel when I booked our rooms to make sure at least one room is ready so we can change into our Dresses and suits.I don't fancy travelling in my outfit as there are 5 of us in the car and we will get all crinkled. Not a good look really lol.
I hope you all have a lovely day today.I am hoping next door might do something with their back hedge .They started doing something yesterday a bit further along.I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Morning All,

Dry but a bit dull at the moment with grey skies.

Oh off ringing later for church as some of the ringers are away.

I sowed two of my precious purple podded peas a while ago and they have come up so must get those in the tunnel today to see if I can increase my stock!! they are a very old variety with two tone purple flowers and lovely purple pea pods. Hertitage seed!

Did I tell you I bought two Courgette plants from Mo**isons of the yellow colour, well they both turned out to be green ones much to my disgust as the yellow are my favorite. I must complain....................................

Yes Mel, I remember Grapenuts! and Jelly in a block! 'The Home and Colonial' AND, Boots,'Book lovers library' but then I'm SO old I remember the winter of 1947!!! Sad about Amy Winehouse, but rather pales after what's happened in Norway which is truly DREADFUL! That enormous bomb, and then all those young people massacred, just doesn't bear thinking about. Polly goes to Canada on Wednesday on her 'Gymnastics' voyage, it will certainly broaden her horizens, but I shall be glad when she's back safely!!! Not much sunshine here Kim! but we hope for better things next week!

It has been beautiful here today.

Ann oh built a two brick high wall up the side of our driveway because the road was 11 ft wide at the bottom where we had our picture taken and on 9 foot 6 up by the bend. He is going to do the same the other side. It has made the bend much better for the oil lorry to get in without mucking up his lawn edge.
