Jane just thought of another one which might help is a solution of water & vinegar(sp), or sometimes wipe over the micowave with bicarb of soda on a cloth then leave the door open for a while.

Have you tried a bowl of hot water Jane with lemon juice in it, on high for about 5 mins that sometimes works to get rid of smells in a microwave

Well I still have'nt got my washing out but it has brightened up now and I think I may chance it. I hate to use the dryer if I don't have to.
Kim sounds as though Glenda will be like me with my Robin's taking them special foods they like. I have'nt had my Robby on my hand since I came back from holiday. Don't even know if I still have that one. I do feed some on the top of the chicken fence poles and they usually come round when I go to the chickens. I think one lot have had two nests of chicks this year and they are kept really busy feeding their chicks. You hear the chicks shouting for food in the surrounding trees. I also watch him feed her the fat sticks I put out for them. They are really devoted.
Friend came round to borrow our trailer but OH was asleep and I can't drive the mower it is attached to at the moment. It is one of those that bends in the middle when you turn the wheel. Very strange to drive :-S I have driven it with OH sitting on the side but only slowly and mostly in a straight line.

I too have been keeping an eye on the News of the World Jane! Whatever next, I just can't get my head round it all! dastardly doings or what?!!! Thank you Frank for the uploads, I did laugh at the birds!!!!! What a brilliant photo though! Shopping this am, Tesco's very crowded and they'd changed a lot of the shelves round so you couldn't find anything!! I know it's sales gimmick, but it's darned annoying!! Have been watching a re- run of 'Tenko' on Sky (!!) at 7pm every evening, I'd forgotten how good it is. Also watched 'History Cold Case' last night, thought it was really brilliant esp, re-forming those two guys faces, quite spooky to think one of them was born at the latter end of Elizabeth 1st reign!! Hope everyone is well and happy!!

Kim how nice for Glenda to see the Kookaburras back again.I'm sure that will buck her up no end. They are funny birds aren't they.I saw a couple went we visited some open gardens down in Dorset.I had never seen one before.I was surprised how short they are.
Mel .I have washing ready to go out.But it will be going into the tumble drier. No chance of it drying outside today.

Pat enjoy the weekend. Will be good just to get away from the house for a few days and forget about things. Handwashing is a pain at the best of times. Hope Wednesday will be all go for you and back to some normality.
Anne that sounds like a wonderful night!! Have not been on a steam train since my kids were little. Puffing Billy in the Dandenongs is still a major attraction for that area.
Mel it is taking me a while to get over the visit with the school friends. Glad I will not be going to the next one as they are planning a long weekend and a couple of heavy nights, lol. I get stuck on the computer with the family tree chasing up leads when I should be resting.
Annx Glenda's sister is visiting from America, where she works at present. That should lift her spirits for a few days. I think getting back to work has helped her fill in the hours, but the other days are very long for her. Brett seems to be doing very well (their son in the wheelchair). He has some good mates who visit and he has his own vehicle, so he gets to appointments and does his own thing pretty much. Keith is still taking the occasional meal in to lift the load a bit. We try to keep an eye on them as much as we can. The kookaburras are pretty common everywhere and the most loved of our native birds. I think you get a few varieties around Australia. The Indian Mynas, which are such a pest, give all the other birds a rough time and take over nests and kill the young.
Have a good day, hope the rain stays away. Frank I do hope Ros is a bit better today.

Morning one and all,
What a storm last night. I had just had a shower and got dressed to go for a pint. About 8pm the heavens opened and the rain was like stair rods. It went on for almost a hour. I finally got to the pub about 9.30. Had a good old chat with the lads. Came home 10.45. Fine drizzle in the air this morning. So much for me watering last night !!!!
Annx, That was a nice surprise from the Bank. I think I could do with a basnk like that :-D :-D :-D
Ros always snips out the stamen on lillies, if they drop on the carpet they stain like hell. She tries not to buy them, but as you say they put them in the arrangements.
I have decided to have a day off, from doing anything today. I got a chicked out of the freezer last night. Tesc# had them on offer Fresh chickens 2 for £5.00 so bought four they are nice big birds, All Ros would eat last night was sardines with a little salad. I will try het with a bit of chicken tonight. One thing about this is, that we are loosing a bit iof weight, so not a bad thing.
I would love to have seen those dogs chasing around. Collies are such a trainable dog. When we had a toy poodle and a miniture. When the toy was going blind the other would take her up the garden at night to do their wees.

Morning All,
It has rained a lot in the night here but no thunder storms like you have had Anne. It is good that you are getting a bit of sun Fiona.......I hope it lasts for your OH next week.
OH has gone to get his tyres or boots put on. lol Then he says he is going to look for some cards.....hmmm I wonder why!! lol. Later we are off to get some gravel chippings for FIL and call in with them.
My bank that made that made a #~*#! up with my standing order to a savings account sent me a £200 cheque for the trouble. I wrote back pointing out that that it was the second mistake that they had made in the past 12 months and that they hadn't compensated me for all the loss of interest to date and they have now sent me another £50 which is good.
Kim, I meant to ask you how Glenda was. I hope those birds keep coming back now so she has to go and feed them. As you say, a bit of contact with nature may help lift her spirits especially as they were Rod's birds! They are quite noisy birds I think so I bet they will let her know they are around. Are Kookaburras all over Australia or just certain parts?
Well, it is no good sitting here in my nightie.......better go and dig up a few potatoes for later and get myself showered.

Morning All,
Still can't get on her this morning, got the dreaded white page error thingy again. Also when I click on GR in my favorites it takes ages and ages before the error page comes up.
Ann the man with the two dogs had it all worked out then for exerciseing both his dogs. What a great thing to see. When we had the collie I bought mum a tennis racket in the hospice shop and she would hit the ball right up to the wall for her and the dog would run like the wind. Sometimes she ran into a tree in the orchard :-S
David I do hope Ralph carrries on improving, is he in hosp or at home now? Does he use his pooter much? you should get him to have a sub for this site and he could join our thread.
Were'nt Sheila's pics lovely. So nice to put a face to our Beryl and I think Donnie Wonnie is quite a nice looking guy if you look past the hairdo!!
Kim hope you feel more like doing something today, perhaps just little and not so often with nice rests in between.
My washing all had to go back in the machine yesterday and be spun again. It is now in the dumpy bucket waiting to go back out on the lkine but the weather dos'nt look good out there and it has been raining. It may have to go on the clothes horse!! Never smells as nice as when it has been out in the wind and fresh air.
Still waiting for a pic of Maureens new shed.

Morning everyone.
Last night we had an enormous thunder storm and it does feel much cooler this morning. At least it means that I do not have to water the garden again today. Neighbours are going away again this weekend for 10 days so I expect there will be glorious weather next week when I am in charge of two gardens again. Have been catching up on the posts since yesterday and as usual there is a lot of news. We all seem to be so busy especially David with his house removal. I am sure your sleeping patterns will settle down again when all the upheaval is over Mel I was doing some research yesterday and genes would not let me access my tree at first. It also refuses to let me search for some people on my tree so I have to go through the tree the long way to get to where I want to be grrrrrr.
Jane Sorry to hear that your shopping spree was not a complete success. I remember shopping with son and it was always a nightmare. Lucy is now 3months old and is sleeping in her own room. She sleeps from 10pm to 5pm most nights and is so good, better than her sister was at that age.. Frank Sorry to hear that Ros is reacting to her new medication. Why not give the surgery a ring and ask to speak to her GP who might prescribe something else. I have had problems in the past and our Drs are always happy to help quickly. I am going to MIL's for lunch today and then a trip on a steam train tonight. This is in aid of our local hospice homecare and is a celebration of local food and drink. We are having beer and cheese on the train and a hog roast at the station in Redmire.Hopefully the rain will stay away but I am not holding my breath. Best wishes to everyone else who I have not mentioned today :-D :-D

Hello everyone,
Have had the devil's own time getting onto this thread today, oops page broken, etc. Yesterday I was in the middle of an email to someone about their tree and the system shut down for maintenance, so I lost all that. Had to do a shorter version last night.
Jane what a shame Fitz was unwell and unable to get there for lunch.
Sheila thanks for the photos I really enjoyed seeing them. Beryl looks like a "Thoroughly Modern Millie" and your Jessica is just beautiful along with your two grandchildren.
It has been sunny today and I had to keep moving to find a warm spot to read the paper. I am really feeling the cold this year. Really need to get my washing done to hang out tomorrow - just didn't have enough oomph to do it today.
Annx what at great game those dogs were having. My Zoe would never chase a ball. In fact all she ever wanted to do was eat and sleep. I love collies - sounds as if they are the best of mates and often play that game with their owner.
Frank I hope Ros has a better day and things settle down with this new medication. All the best for her.
Hi to everyone else. I have read through your threads. Must get this washing on and might try have a 10 minutes on the threadmill to see if I can get the blood flowing.
Keith was in with Glenda, Rod's widow yesterday and all of a sudden three Kookaburras appeared on the fence. They have not been there since Rod died and he used to feed them pieces of ham and they became really tame. She was so thrilled to see them back and gave them a feed. They came back today as well and were laughing and carrying on at the fence. It was good to see the light come to her eyes for the first time in weeks. Nature has a way of bringing cheer to us in sad times :-)
Have a good day all. Hope it is not too hot.

Oh it will look nice with all the new carpet!! You better leave a pair of slippers there after it is done......won't want to spoil it paddling in the rain and dirt!! lol
