Afternoon All
We were all late getting up this morning.(Not because of hangovers FRANK) :-P .I think because Chris didn't need to set the alarm we just slept on.
I have just picked another load of Broad Beans.I'm trying to get them while they are still fairly small.

I'm not sure you are supposed to pop blisters Frank in case they become infected.

Fiona that is good news that your daughter has got an interview.I hope it goes well and she is offered the job.

Good luck Pat.I'm glad I'm not at your house lol

Kim, I hope you have a good night sleep tonight and maybe you will feel much better in the morning.

Mel ,has the lady come yet? It's awful when you expect someone at a certain time and they don't turn up.I hope you are not doing anything too strenuous and are doing as you are told.I can't believe that you are lol

Thanks Liz.He just needs to find a job now!
I need to get that ironing board up now :-(

Frank, apparently honey was used during the War for treating Aircrew who had been severely burnt. When I was young (?!) we had something called Lion Ointment, which was a cure all for cuts and burns, scalds etc, it contained Beezewax which was why it was so effective. Now you can't get it anymore so neat honey has to do, takes away the pain of scalds and burns, prevents blistering and heals quickly, but 'tis sticky!!!! Yes Kim, Merlin is our Exmoor Pony, OH rides him (not me anymore, can't risk falling!) but he also drives, which is great fun, and gets you out and about! sorry you're not feeling too good, hope things are better now! I have two cousins living in Aus, one in Brisbane and the other in Melbourne; they come over occasionally to visit family, but don't think much of our weather, crowded roads or the lack of space!! also the cost of living here, which is getting a bit hideous! so I don't think they or their young people will be heading back to the 'Mother Country' permanently that's for sure! Things much better on the Laura front! she seems much happier, business has perked up, and she and group of volunteers have won 60k's worth of lottery funding to fit out a run down warehouse, as a gymnasium (surprise surprise!) to give children, rich or poor, handicapped or whole an opportunity to experience athletics, dancing, gym and anything else they can think of in that line. I do take my hat off to them all, but I can't think how she finds the time! or where she gets her enegy from, not me that's for certain!! anyhow she seems much chirpier which is really good. House still in the balance, prospective buyer asking all sorts of questions, mostly about neighbour! if this fails we shall definitely 'stay put', just too much hassle!!

Morning All
Had a couple of friends from church visit me yesterday just to see how I was, nice to spend a couple of hours chatting,

Then family then came down, Daughter no 1 and Sofia, daughter no 2 and boyfriend played with Sofia outside kicking her ball around and pushing her buggy up and down the garden, but when daughter no 2 said lets go for a walk, Sofia would only go to the end of the street because I wasn't there, Gan ,Gan she shouting , so they just came back and Sofia and I walked around the garden and she had her little watering can and watered the flowers and her shoes to, good job they where sandshoes, I just stuck them in the tumble dryer to dry before she went home.
SIL e-mailed me the photo's of their holiday in Italy. will sort them out and pass them on.

Daughter no 2 has to go down to Billingsworth ,West Sussex for an interview for a Job next week, a position for a mechandise buyer, she's very excited as it is not for an assistant's job but a higher position.
That has lifted her spirits, it's hard work trying to get a full time job these days.

Hello everyone, I'm a bit late today. Feel so awful, was ok until noon and then so dizzy, heart thumping and nausea. Weekend must be catching up with me.

Merlin, that's who I have been thinking of and trying to work out who owns him - it's Liz. For some reason he has been on my mind :-S

Sheila it's the comedy hour with you. I laugh so much when you post. How is Joel the horse doing?? Is Ryan a good mate of Matt and Jessica's?? Wonderful that this nice man is looking out for her and the children :-)

Frank, Keith won't let me near anything sharp. I'm always cutting myself and falling over things, clumsy as!!!! Stay safe today. I always have to peg the clothes - give them a shake just like Pat and do it in my own way. Something I got from my mother. I repeg everything if Keith hangs out the washing. OH calls me Peg the Perfectionist :-P

Might just take a rest now. Will be back later to say goodnight.

Cheers, Kim 8.36 pm EST

Frank, try putting honey on your scalds and cuts. It works a treat particularly for burns and scalds, need to put it onto lint, then onto the wound and a plaster, else you get VERY sticky!!! David, did you say your brother has got Osteomyalitis? I had that when I was a baby in 1943! very touch and go then but these days easily cured with antibiotics. I would also suggest that his catheter needs attention, it shouldn't be leaking, and could be partially blocked. What with that and other ailments it must be very worrying for you, and horrid for him. I do hope he will feel better soon. Sorry to hear about your back Mel, mine is still painful from when I fell over in February, it aches a lot and feels kind of creaky and compressed! some days better than others! Jane I haven't congratulated your boy on his degree, a brilliant result, well done!

Hi All

When hubby got home from work and checked his emails there was one from the building firm...giving us a quote for the extra work...

We are having anew ceiling put up in bathroom...the quote for that all tho dear we will accept...They also want to charge £50 Plus vat to paint this...

We can paint this ourselves thank you...

We were told because the toilet and basin has to come out anyway to do the tiling there will be no charge to fit the new one.

But they want to charge us £300 plus vat for .. labour to take the bath out
and fit new one and ta\ke old one away £360 incudes the vat
Hubby was trying to keep his cool when he then rang up....
WE were told aprice by the builder must have been in under manager who came round on friday...THe person who has given us these prices now is the owner of the building firm

THe first man told us to have the bath etc and everything ready incase they start next week,,,,This is arriving to morrow,,

Hubby says at this rate he will take bath out and refit..if we dont get a decent price.. he put the bathroom in in the first place...the first day we were to have plumbers plasters and elecricains in as they were doing bathroom and kitchen at same time....plus the man who came out on friday.

At the , moment Im trying to keep calm....but I think I will go and take my frustration out on the garden before I go into school to be greated by about 900 hormoneal girls lol

Well, what a sight you must look Frank!! Everything wrapped up like that. Don't whatever you do attempt to mow the lawn.......else you may be like that unlucky chap who chopped his toe off. The worst bit was it flew up and hit him in the eye!!

Mel, it always makes me chuckle when you arrive at the docs hardly able to move and they say don't do anything strenuous! lol Does it hurt with breathing too? I suppose if you try to do much it will take longer to get better. Next time you will know to say 10 days not 7!

I used to love Badminton and played 4 times a week at one time.......I think I may still have one tiny-waisted, white skirt in the loft somewhere......might go around one leg now. I still have my racket and some shuttles we use in the garden when it's still enough. Sounds like a pleasant evening Jane.

David

David Report 29 Jun 2011 20:16

Ralph's sounding a bit more cheer ful,but he's not well.

The bottom of his right lower leg is swollen and coloured purple.

He has a catheta in which he says is leaking?

The doctor has drawn a dotted line around it so that they can tell if it is getting larger.

Frank

Frank Report 29 Jun 2011 19:36

Mel, It sounds like you have got what I had. A strain between the Sturnam and rib cage. Jane will know what it is. she can explain it better than me.

I have been in the WARS tonight. While cooking, I lifted a lid of the boiling potato's and it splashed over the back of my hand by my thumb. I now have eight little blisters coming up. Then when cutting the LAMb (yes Jane Lamb again) the carving knife slipped and went through the tip of my index finger on my right hand. Now have that wrapped in kitchen towel, secured with a rubber band. I bleed like a stuck Pig. Due to the blood thiners I am on. It's throbbing like mad now. Must take the band off in case I stop the blood circulation.

Been and done the watering this evening, the greenhouse was as dry as a bone, and the pots and tubs on the patio.

Oh, I forgot this morning I cut my toenails and cut through the skin, had to wrap a handkerchief round it, then put my slipper back on to keep it in place. :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D

Thanks for the pics Jane and Maureen.

Been to the docs and she said I just have to live withit for about 4 weeks. She thinks I have upset the muscle round the spin bones and the ribs which is why the pain travels round my ribs. Would'nt give me antibiotics as I had had the cold two weeks. If you go and say you have a nasty chesty cold at about 7 days they say see if you still have it in ten days time. It seems they have an answer for everything!! :-( I must'nt lift anything heavey and don't do any strenuous ? gardening. she knows how big our garden is!!

OH out ringing again and I have to water the tunnel.

Ann ,it's next doors little lake that attracting the Heron.I don't know what fish are in it but I know there used to be Koi Carp.
Hannah and James have gone of for a brotherly and sisterly game of Badminton ,and then a bit later we are all going to have a nice meal together with a bottle of Bubbly to celebrate James's degree and to say tatty bye to Hannah for 2 months. At 7.30 one of Hannah's friends is coming to pick a few bits of her furniture. That will give us a tiny bit more space back in the garage :-D :-D
It is a lovely evening here and not a breath of wind.

Evening everyone,

Another nice day here ,hope its fine tomorrow for the show , just heard a rumble of thunder !!

Sheila, i would love to see a photo of Beryl and Donnie , what a pair they are , must be a laugh a minute with those two LOL
I don't know if i should even ask where Donnie's Jangly metal bits are !!!!LOL

Cheeky OH Ann , you should have shoved him in the water butt and put the lid on and rolled him round the garden !!! LOL
Hubby did our new water butt the other day and after the storm its full already !!!

Frank, i always like to hang the washing out ,hubby never does it right !! i was always told what you wear on your top you peg by the bottom ,and what you wear on your bottom half you peg by the top .

Good photo Jane, what a sight it must be when he takes flight .
Hope Mel got on ok at the doctors

Jane

Jane Report 29 Jun 2011 17:51

Yes Sheila,I have to say I had a good chuckle picturing Beryl and Donnie sunbathing and then her losing her top lol,and the mind boggles about Donnies metal jangling bits !!
It sounds as though Jessica is happier again now.She had a such a rough time, and it would be nice to think that things will work out with Ryan, and young April would have a new Daddy.
And Michelle too with Moshen.Time will tell .Maybe once he has given a kidney to his Mum and has recovered from that ,they will be able to sort things out.

I think I have just got a photo of the Heron ,but his head was hidden in an upper branch.I will stick it on the pooter and if it's any good I'll pass it on.
