Thanks Mel, oh to be 20 something again, well I wouldn't mind 40 even.

Toddlers can be funny Fiona, I remember how mine were when we went to Spain, MIL was so excited to have them there I think it frightened them a bit, and just like Sofia's gran couldn't speak any English. They loved going when they were older, in fact they used to spend the whole summer holiday out there.

I am still ironing!!! but the pile is getting smaller. I thought if I had a good go then I would'nt have to do any for a while.

It has started to rain slightly here and we have had a helicopter flying around for ages. It frightened all the bantams and they were making a terrible noise so I went out and it had Electricity written right down the side. I think the banties thought it was a giant bird circling the skies.

OH out ringing tonight so two boiled eggs for me tonight and pasta for him. I have gone right off pasta at the moment and rice. So boring............................................. :-S

Afternoon everyone
Warm here to day but cloudy and a little rain, Went to the usual coffee meeting this morning, and it was nice not having to rush back for lunch as I have no baby sitting this afternoon,

Daughter no 1 phoned from Italy, says all is fine, Sofia enjoyed the beach, playing in the sand but doesn't like going near the water,Im not surprised there's a lot of water in the Adriatic Sea lol :-)
She is getting on with the other cousins there. and enjoys playing and running around, still won't let her mum out of her sight, makes a noise when daughter goes out of the room and creates a fuss when her mum goes to the loo or for a shower.
Surprisingly she has taken to SIL dad but will have nothing to do with his mum, which I am sure will be a bit of an upset for her after not seeing her grandaughter for 9 months, who knows it's still early days , hopefully she will come round. it's to be expected with living so far away.

time to get back to the ironing,
BBL

Newspaper soaked in parafin in a gas oven ***>>>>>******<<<<<<< Good Lord Frank it's a wonder you are with us today.

I have printed that poppy field photo off Ann, it's come out really good and I'm amazed I managed to enlarge it to A4 size now all I need is a wet and windy day to stay indoors and have a go at it but I bet I will find something else that needs doing first.

Just going to bed now. Knew I would forget someone's name in my last post, sorry Mandy.

Annx OH went up to see the neighbour. He is a bit shaken, but otherwise ok. Poor fellow is planning to put the house up for sale and now has all the damage in the backyard!!! Mother Nature doesn't care about timing. My father would have to walk me around the block in the pram at all hours. As soon as we would get back I would wake up. I think they were ready to throw me out the window, cradle and all, lol.

Thanks for your well wishes. Will be a massive funeral, so many police and navy people and all the family. Rod would be impressed!!!

Maureen I do love your wedding outfit from what I can see, such a pretty colour.

Anne have a lovely time in Jersey. I have been told it's so nice. Will have to Google in a minute and have a look. One of my doctor's lived there for a few years when he was a teenager. He loved the life on the island.

Off to the land of nod, goodnight everyone. Jane let me know how those meatballs turn out. Frank we are going to try your Leek Pie recipe this week.

It is now 12.18 am EST 16/6

Lots of posts on various threads have got requested reviews. Some crazy things going on at the moment. There is nothing wrong with them. Some idiot is enjoying causing havoc. Hope GR reinstates them again.

Just been out to the BIN and found the outside tap running. Tried to turn it off but just carried on running water down the side. I bought a new tap a couple of months ago. So decided to fit it. The stop cock is under the sink unit. I got down there allright, but getting up is so difficult. Not thinking I put my weight on the door to get me up. The bloddy door broke at the joint. So now have the job of repairing that now. Typical, do one job and make another. I have a new tube of "NO MORE NAILS" when I opened it ,it is solid.!!!!! So have sent off an Email to the makers. asking why it should go like that. Will have to get some other wood glue to fix it.

Yes Mel, it was a gas oven the type that stood on forg legs, with the oven door with a lift up catch on. Think it came from the "GAS LIGHT AND COKE COMPANY"
Ann, I was always in front, when it came to trouble. My nickname was "BUSTER" and still get called it by my elder brother, and an old school friend, on Friends reunited.

Didn't grow any peas this year. We are getting English peas from Tesc#s
The pods are very full, and taste wonderful.

Honey is very good as a 'cure all' particularly burns, takes away the pain and blistering. We used to use an ointment called 'Lion Ointment' years ago, it had beezewax in it and was brilliant for everything from sores to burns.

Maureen Report 15 Jun 2011 14:12

Still not very clear though is it Ann. Yes that's me on my wedding day. Keep trying different pictures to see if I can get a clearer one.

We will have to do a proper base for the shed first, guess who's going to be mixing the cement ...lol

Annx

Annx Report 15 Jun 2011 14:06

Maureen, you've got a BIG picture!!! Is it you?? I'd leave the shed for now.........3 of us put our wooden one up and I think one of the doors is upside down!! lol

Maureen

Maureen Report 15 Jun 2011 13:38

What a difference a day makes, beautiful warm sunshine yesterday, cloudy and windy today but I must get out in the garden and finish off the bottom bit, mentioned to son the new shed is coming on Friday, he made no comment, oh well, will just have to wait until he has time, he does work so hard I always try and fix things myself but putting a shed together is beyond me. It's one of those metal ones, he had one for his garden recently and said it was like putting together a giant meccanno set.

Will be thinking of you tomorrow Kim. hope all goes well.

Poor Liz, selling a house is so stressful, I'd hate to have people traipsing through my home and then for it all to fall through, still I think things happen for a reason. Glad all has gone well for your move David. I'm beginning to realise how lucky we were to sell my mum's house without any hassle.

Annx Report 15 Jun 2011 13:33

Afternoon All,

Spitting with rain here, but not much yet. Very cloudy though.

Frank you were a right little b#**#r weren't you!!! It's a wonder you didn't maim yourself!! I'm glad that that lady was ok.

Kim, what rough weather you have been having!! Lucky no-one was standing near that tree when it fell but what a mess it must have made for your neighbour......and expense!! I hope your cold is improving.........as you say, the vitamins may help. My sister was the most difficult baby of us three. She had such a paddy!!! She screamed the first 2 years and we ALL got disturbed nights!!!! lol I used to get sent out with her to walk her in her pram. Mum would say, 'bring her back when she's asleep'!!!! lol

Anne, I would enjoy that talk too, it sounds as if it would be very interesting. It would be good to hear what folk say when they see your mum's dress too if it is on show. Hope you enjoy your break and that the weather is kind.

I'd not heard of Tin Can Copper Liz, we called it hide and seek. I hope your buyer wants your place more than he is fussed by the neighbour. It would be a real shame if he pulled out now.

Mandy, those Pigeons will drive you mad with all the cooing early in the morning, as well as blocking the gutter. I think I have worked out why the Magpies here try to pull out the grills on out gutters. I watched one with a baby on the roof over the road this morning. The baby dropped the food and guess where it rolled down to????

Jane Report 15 Jun 2011 13:19

Afternoon all
Still hit and miss getting on here again today.I'm here now,but for how long I wonder lol.
I just saw the funniest thing.Well it might not have ended up funny.I watched a Stoat chasing a little rabbit around the back garden.I have never seen that before.I don't think it caught the rabbit, because a few minutes later I took some scraps to the compost and the Stoat was just mooching around under the hedge.Chester stood poised ready to run at it,but I shouted and it disappeared .

Just in case I don't get back on later ,I just want to say KIm, I hope Rods funeral goes ok tomorrow.A sad day for you all.
Anne I hope your trip goes well to Jersey and that the weather is kind to you.

I have been picking peas this morning, but they aren't a patch on last year.Maybe it is down to the lack of rain. Also they were almost being strangled by weeds ,so I have pulled out loads now and tried to untangle some of them.

I must have missed loads of posts ,so please forgive me if I haven't mentioned something that I should have commented on.

Liz .It is a right old business this house selling isn't it.Maybe if this buyer decides to pull out you could think about trying again next year.

I have made my Olive and Lemon Meatballs this morning and they are in the slow cooker.I haven't used it for a while. So all I need to do later is the Tagliatelle to go with them.I have used the first of our home grown garlic in the sauce. The first year we tried to garlic it was a disaster, but this lot looks really good.

I must make my bed.Just realised I haven't done it.Tut Tut!
I expect the poor lady from Scouts will need to rest up a while Frank. It sounds as though she might have been doing too much.
I hope you are behaving yourself and not getting yourself into any trouble lol
;-) ;-)

Oh Frank what a naughty boy you were.....it is just as well you did'nt set fire to the house drying the newpaper in the oven. Was it a gas oven????????????????????

Good that you are not sore this morning. The rain has passed here and the sun is in and out.

Frank

Frank Report 15 Jun 2011 12:29

morning my Lovelies,

What a difference a day makes. Today is very cloudy and looks like rain. !!! I am fine this morning not sore anywhere.I think it was just being in the sun.

Liz, That game you played. We called it "POT RELEASE" The searcher, when he/she found you. You had to go the the "POT" everybody who was still hiding would try to get back to the "POT" and release those who had been caught. Hence "POT RELEASE" it would go on for hours. Till Mum or Dad came out and called "BED TIME" Wasn't it great to have the freedom, and no worries about cars.

Mandy. The boys who lived opposite us, had the "Telephone system" We would push the can up and down the string to make a grating noise, what we now call a ring tone. They would answer and we would say "OVER" and then put the can to our ear while they spoke. Another thing we would do. (Don't let the children try it) was to soak newspaper in parafine and dry it in the oven. Then screw it up,put in a large tin with a lid. Light the paper and push the lid on tight. It would blow the lid 10s feet in the air. We only did it when Mum was out !!!!

The head scout mistress is out of hospital, after loads of tests, they put it down to stress.

I trust everyone is well,

Hi Everyone. I didn't even try to get on yesterday after all the problems of Monday but have got straight in today.Reading all the other posts it seems that I was not alone. IE9 has changed some of my settings but never thought that it would cause problems with Genes.
Yesterday was simply glorious and I spent the afternoon in the garden after TIC but we did not have a BBQ as I wanted to cook something for my neighbour which she could eat one handed so had pasta a la Jam*e Oliv*r. Hoping to barbie tonight but more cloud around.I trhink I told you about the History Wardrobe lady, well discovered that she os giving a presentation at Richmond station today about war time weddings so am going to see it and hope mums dress is on show. We have got most things organised now for tomorrow and just hope the weather stays fine in Jersey for the next few days.
Son and family back from Norfolk and had a super time building sandcastles and riding on the steam railway.Have not spoken directly to him yet but got the impression that the girls were fine.
David Good luck with your house removal.
Will try to post again tonight but if not will be back after tuesday. Take care of yourselves and don't over do it Frank :-) :-)

Bit cheesed off this am. Our buyer is having second thoughts! not to keen on living next door to what he sees as a difficult neighbour!!! Don't really blame him, but obviously this will come up all the time , so if he pulls out we shall stay put, end of!!! Have had enough of all the stress it's causing, not sure I can face all that packing and hassle anyway!!! Tin Tan Copper was a game of Tag, everyone playing hid somewhere while someone else counted to 100, and called 'coming', this person had to seek the others out, while they tried to get back to home base without getting tagged, if you manged to get back you had to call out Tin Tan Copper, and you then became the seeker so to speak!! Hope this is clear?!!!!!
