Morning everyone,
Got on here with no bother this morning ,lets hope its all sorted out now !!
Got to wait in for the scrap man to come and pick up some old tower scaffolding of hubby's ,have to keep indoors as if i go out in the garden i might not hear him knock !! although i think Toby would soon let me know if there's someone about .
Must get hubby to have another look in the guttering again as i'm sure those blessed pigeons are nesting there ,every time i go out the door i keep finding little bits of wire and twigs that i think they've dropped ,and their back sitting in the guttering again. i did squirt the hose up there but they flew off and then back they came .
I remember playing Jacks , does anyone remember playing with two tin cans, you threaded the string through them tight ,and pulled, then could talk to each other ,didn't work very well round corners though LOL
We also threaded the string through the cans and made handles that you held onto ,and you put your feet on the cans and walked with them .
Wish this scrap man would turn up i need to go shopping !!
Coffee time i think.

Oh changed me from IE8 to IE9 and thats when I started having trouble and after a while he changed me back again but I still could't copy and paste things without them coming out all wrong and me haveing to backspace everything and that took ages if you were trying to help someone so I just used to put up the reference and ask others to put the details up for me. Spoilt the hunt for their ancestors though. Now it saeems ok and I can now copy and paste thing once again. I think we should have another lesson in copying and pasteing for those who can't do it as it saves so much time with everything.
Who is up for it :-\

Morning All,
Been raining in the night and still is now, that horrid light stuff that gets just everywhere. So no more work in the fruit cage till it stops as I am looking up all the time.
Liz I have never heard of Tin Tan Copper, was it a kind of Knock Down Ginger?
A friend and I used to make a hole in a penny buy banging a nail in it and tie it to black cotton, hook it over a nail behind her gatepost and tun the cotton up to her bedroom window where we would eait for people to pass by. As they got level with the gatepost we would let the penny drop and they would look all around to see if they had dropped some money!! We thought it was really funny to see them searching about. One day someone saw the penny and picked it up only to find the cotton tied to it. :-(

Yes, I remember playing Jacks/Five Stones, also Tin Tan Copper! Hopscotch, Hula Hooping, Shipwreck, Conkers, and of course Skipping!!! You probably wouldn't be allowed to play most of these now, Health and Safety would rear it's head, so for kids it's back to the Telly/Computer! which could be MUCH more dangerous!!!

Hello everyone,
Survived the night. A huge tree came down and took out the neighbour's back fence and shed and his clothesline is a mangled mess. The State Emergency Service were up there cutting the branches away and clearing up. What a great job they do and last night would have been busy for them. More of this weather is still heading our way, but it has stopped raining for a couple of hours. The lake has been rising along with the creek, but the entrance to the ocean is blocked by the sandbanks. Hasn't been dredged in a while and now causing major problems for residents!!!!
Great to see you back Shirl, have missed you. So sorry to read about your cousin. That was actually our last email when you were going to see her.
Pat I remember playing Jacks at school every recess (or playlunch as it was called) after we had to drink that horrid milk that was delivered and left out in the sun to curdle. The magpies used to pick at the silvertops. When enough kids threw up, some brilliant mind decided it would be best to put the crates of milk in the shed and cover them with blocks of ice.
David have you had your thyroid tested in recent times? That can cause the veins to bulge. The veins and lymph nodes in my neck are currently bulging because I have a respiratory infection. Does that answer your question?? Anyways I hope you feel better soon. Good luck with your move to your new home.
Sheila I do love The Thornbirds and also have a copy which I watch from time to time. Richard Chamberlain is such a wonderful actor. I liked him as a young doctor in Dr. Kildare. Gene Simmons played a her part so well as there was so much tragedy for the family to cope with. You have been in the wars with the cat and that wretched man. I hope you gave him a mouthful!!
Frank I'm trying to keep rugged up and dosed with my vitamins. Will get there no matter what!!! We have IE7 on this computer - could be time to get an update. I don't know, but things have played up for a while on here since they began changing things.
Annx I look happy there; my mother says I was the most difficult baby of the three. She reminded me of that (with a smile) up until she passed away.
Hi to Fiona, Anne, Mel, Janey, Liz, Maureen and anyone I might have forgotten. Must away to clean the bathroom.
Hope to be back later. We have Jacob staying the night; he's going to the funeral too, so I need to do some tidying and there's heaps of washing to be done.
Good day to all when you wake, hopefully to sunshine. Cheers, Kim

They say dabbing yoghurt on is good for cooling sunburn Frank.......what flavour do you fancy?
IE8 is a version of the browser Internet Explorer (IE) Frank. I don't know much about these things either, but I know I am still on IE7. I think IE 9 is the latest, but some people are also having trouble that have those. It seems that GR are having to do a lot of 'fixes' so that their site is compatible with all our different kinds of browsers. I wouldn't do anything........hopefully it will all come right soon.
Yes, OH is quick to hand over the scissors when he has botched things up! He's had loads of practice......he was 33 when I met him and already had a beard then. He nearly had to go out with a 'goatee' tonight. lol :-D
Has your OH finished the wall yet Mel? My loganberries are still geen and don't look too good this year, quite small. I think they needed more water. A couple of tomatoes are turning orange in the greenhouse though so they will soon be ready. The blackbirds are terrors for fruit aren't they.
It's an ideal time of the year to move in David, good for getting those sort of jobs all done with plenty of warm weather to dry out the plaster.

What the hell is IE8.???? I know I am thick sometimes, but I have no idea how to get in useing IE8.
While Ros has beenwatching her "SOAPS" I sat in the garden reading my Ebook. The battery ran out, so It's on charge throught the computor. It will be ready in a hour or so, ready for when I go to bed.
My body is starting to sting, I have looked, but we don't have any aftersun, so I will have to live with it. !!!! serves me right for staying outside all day.!!! But the cold cotton sheets will keep me cool, when I finally get under the cloths.
Ann I bet you did a bit when you saw the OH like that.
:-D :-D :-D You would think he would know how to trim his beard at his age !!!!
Fiona, thats terrible, not letting the boy know his Nan had died. It was only a phone call, Some people have no feelings, do they ????
Mel, I did a shin of beef tonight, in the oven for 4 hours The meat just fell apart. We had french beans, carrots, spring greens and broard beans (Ros's favourites) at this time of year.. The last of the Jersey's. Are there any English down your way yet ???? My first crop in the bags will be ready anytime now. Looking forward to those.
So, Jane, is having withdrawal symptons, not getting on here. She will make up for it later. YOU BET>!!!!
Going for a cool shower now and dressing gown on.
See you tomorrow.

This is a note from GR on another thread today:
We apologise for the problems some members seem to be experiencing at the moment. Using IE8 is our temporary suggestion whilst we fix the issues to do with the other browsers.
I hope this helps.

Oh, you are all coming back!! :-) I wonder if it will be my turn tomorrow!! Hope not.
Liz, how brilliant to get a new, up to date phone!! No wonder your OH is miffed after being good and using his regularly. lol
My shoulder looks a bit pink.......I think the sun must have caught it in the garden......legs are still as white though.
OH has gone to do some clerking tonight......his first solo run. One of the school governors has the same name as a former member of his staff from years back. He was wondering if it is the same person. Just before he went, he decided to tidy up his beard.......I knew it would be fatal!!!!! lol He walked in with a swathe cut into one side, but not the other. Emergency action then to shorten the lot and match both sides. lol Why does he always do things like this at the last minute!!! lol

Hello Shirl so good to have you back!! <3
Just cooking dinner, chicken casserole with carrots, runner beans and mash for me and rice for oh.
Been in the garden all day as it has been so hot and sunny. Have tried to mend the netting on the fruit cage as the blackbirds have been in again and eaten most of the redcurrants but the white ones are still ok, and the raspberries are ripening and the loganberries.
OH has been digging up some nice looking earth from the top veg garden over the side we don't use and seiving it and putting on the corner where the new build is.
Hi to our Sheila and the standard membership is £9.95 thats the lowest sub.
